Aaron Gilmore has a point; is the Press Gallery going to get itself into a lather over Trevor Mallard’s second instance of bullying a public servant (remember Erin Leigh?), and threatening their ongoing employment?

By rights, we should now have the Patrick Gower stake-outs of Mallard to look forward to, followed by the tearful press conference, and then the valedictory speech. Of course that’s not going to happen in Mallard’s case, but Gilmore is quite right to wonder whether he was a victim of the media’s double standards.

Obama is meeting with his national security team to discuss Syria round about now.

Shame very few on here have woken up to what Syria represents. It’s a bellwether as to what’s going to happen to us, to Israel, to other nations. They’re going to use the same tactics they’ve used there, and we will see the same atrocities happening there now, being committed against us, our families, our neighbours and our cousins in Australia.

And it’s being done by the people most people here think are “the good guys.”

By their actions ye shall know them.

Shame very few have even bothered to look at what actions have been done.

While the Radical Feminists oppose all stereotypes, the transgendered males presenting as females embrace narrow sexist stereotypes to the point of becoming caricatures of women.

And butch lesbians become stereotypical narrow caricatures of men.

Some Radical Feminists lesbians reject men who want to be lesbian women as interlopers.

Some others regard the women who want to be men as going over to the enemy.

As a result some feminist gatherings are restricted to women born as women and living as women.

While those with SSA try to convince people they are born that way and can’t change, the GenderQueer insist that nothing is stable and everything can constantly change.

Radio New Zealand News reports

‘A study of the annual reports of 100 listed or large companies published in 2012 has found a huge variation in the amount of commentary companies provide

Deloitte says the commentary rangers from none to 74 pages.

Technical partner Denise Hodgkins says among the findings was that only 22 companies gave detailed disclosure of their objectives and strategies, and only 13 companies explained how their success, or otherwise, would be measured.

She says that sort of information is appropriate in the annual report which should have a succinct summary of what the company is about and how it is doing.

Ms Hodgkins says she was surprised that only 16 of the companies provided any information on the types of risks they face and only four gave detailed information on the topic.

She says although very detailed information on risk is not needed in the annual report, some discussion on risk is appropriate.’

Well that depends on who you are holding up as Right Wing in New Zealand. If we are talking National, then you are probably correct.

But truthfully I think your statement used to be true but isn’t so true any more. I think the U.S. Government and the Democrats in particular have taken a huge leap further to the Left under Obama. And like what has happened here in N.Z. they are dragging many Republicans to the Left as well. Individual responsibility and liberty are rapidly becoming foreign concepts in the U.S. It’s very sad.

Lets look at where most of us “Right” thinking Kiwis sit on some of our social & government constructs:
1. Public hospital system, supported by additional funding & subsidy of private general medical practice
2. Universal & non-means tested Superannuation, plus retirement home funding (albeit asset tested)
3. Pharmac government negotiation & buying of pharmaceuticals
4. Significant safety net in both disability and unemployment benefits
5. Minimum wage standards that include all industries
6. Civil Unions in 2004, and now Same Sex Marriage
7. Decriminalisation of prostitution
etc.

ACT has historically been our “far right” party, which is more in line with Liberterian movements overseas.

And I believe the left-drift of the Democrats in the US has actually driven a more extreme Right-shift in the republicans.

I cannot get over the hypocisy of Julia Gillard,Oz’s PM with her attack on a menu which she claims toi be from the LNP. Now we find that the menu never went into the function and was a poor joke between the owner of the restaurant and his son.
Before that we had Gillard bring abortion into the campaign, something right outside current discussions – trying to frighten female voters. Abbot says there will be no change in legfislation but Gillard ignores that and charges on like an out of control train. Her base is retreating by the day.
Now the Australia media are calling her the worst PM in Australian history just heading off “Big” Gough Whitlam. Whitlam had delusions of grandeur-witness his coming home to the Darwin Cyclone and then flying straight back to the ruins of Athens Greece. Gillard is merely nasty and grubby !!!!
Anyone with any political sense knows now that Labor will get a towelling the September election. A divided party will always fail, voters don’t want to see division in their government-witness NZ in 1990 with the Labor Party.
Gillard is a horrible person with a mind like rat. She will go after an electoral hammering, back to Slater and Gordon litigation lawyers and a firm with a lot questions around them.

Countries like NZ should be advising the USA and the EU clearly that we expect the same kind of insight as is being sought by the EU. And to avoid such action being misinterpreted by our crazy MSM as an attack on the US or on its legitimate security objectives, the communications with the EU and the US should be made through diplomatic channels.

Yet there Singapore stands. Civilised and without a safety net. So the progs are lying again. Singapore demonstrates it so starkly.

That is the simple point about Singapore that you knuckle dragging thick as a brick dense as a black hole progs just cannot seem to understand.

New claim by Glenn Beck that he is in contact with another whistle blower who has info that will “take down the entire power structure” including both Democrats and Republicans. He will release the info in the next 24 hours. He is claiming the information is so sensitive (he has seen one page) that the whistle blower would be killed – not just arrested and that this info will “greatly divide the nation”.

Redbaiter, the issue was that of the Saudi national injured in the Boston bombing and initially arrested as a “person of interest”. That he was on a terrorist watch list with a designation only given to the most serious terrorist threats. His status was eventually downgraded and he was allowed to go back home (after being visited by Michelle Obama in the hospital). I believe that Obama and John Kerry also met with a Saudi representative.

Although it was serious, nobody seemed to care much and the issue was forgotten. That is the problem these days – it would have to be something very serious in order to shake people from this lackadaisical apathy they have toward any criticism of Obama.

Whereas communists like Milky in NZ claim that the safety net is an essential component in keeping our societies civil and free of crime, the truth is that it exists only to ensure that socialist governments continue to get the votes they need to govern.

Singapore demonstrates that without these safety nets a civil and crime free society is possible. Milky hates this truth because it undermines his cowardly propaganda. If the welfare roll suddenly did not exist, socialist tyrants would lose a few hundred thousand votes.

17. Requirement to create and maintain
records

(1)Every public office and local authority must create and maintain full and accurate records of its affairs, in accordance with normal, prudent business practice, including the records of any matter that is contracted out to an independent contractor.

(2)Every public office must maintain in an accessible form, so as to be able to be used for subsequent reference, all public records that arein its control, until their disposal is authorised by or under this Act or required by or under another Act.

Ministerial records
General

8.86During their time in office, and on leaving office, Ministers will need to consider how to store or dispose of the papers created or received in their capacity as Ministers of the Crown (“ministerial records”).

These papers fall broadly into the following three categories:

Cabinet and Cabinet committee records (agendas, papers, and minutes);ministerial papers and files;departmental papers and files.

8.87 The following paragraphs provide guidance on the storage and disposal of ministerial records. The Cabinet Office and Archives New Zealand are able to provide additional advice.

8.88Ministers also receive and hold papers in their non-ministerial capacity; for example, correspondence with constituents and private or personal papers.

(These papers are referred to as “non-ministerial records”.) Archives New Zealand is also able to provide guidance on the storage and disposal of these papers.

GCSB’s new powers for wide-spread spying on New Zealanders

There have recently been a number of revelations about the US government spying on its citizenry and other people around the world (a good summary). Many people have been shocked to find out the extent of the US’s spying and access into theoretically private systems.

What many New Zealanders don’t realise is that the NZ government is currently changing both the GCSB Act of 2003 and the Telecommunications Interception Capability Act of 2004 to allow similar levels of access to New Zealand communications for the GCSB (Government Communications Security Bureau).

Current law

The current TICA law already gives the GCSB, Police or SIS the technical capability to intercept all NZ communications if they have a valid warrant.

The GCSB can get warrants to spy on the communications of foreign people and organisations, although they can spy without a warrant if it doesn’t require the installation of any device (e.g. wireless/satellite/radio/mobile).

TICS – Telecommunications Interception Capability and Security Bill

The new TICS Bill clarifies and expands on these interception capabilities. It also allows them to be extended to service providers (people who offer “goods, services, equipment, and facilities that enable or facilitate telecommunication”) such as email providers, Trademe forums, Mega, etc.

TICS continues the existing regime where these interception powers can only be accessed with a valid warrant, but keep reading for the new exceptions to this in the GCSB Bill.

Furthermore, the TICS Bill also creates a new role for the GCSB, ensuring the security of New Zealand’s telecommunications infrastructure. This includes wide powers of oversight and control of how communications networks are managed and implemented in order to “protect New Zealand’s national security or economic wellbeing”.

GCSB – Government Communications Security Bureau and Related Legislation Amendment William BrownThe new GCSB Bill gives the GCSB three purposes (we’ll come back to these):

8A – Information assurance and cybersecurity. (Expanded from protecting government communications to a much wider responsibility for New Zealand’s communications.)
8B – Intelligence gathering, analysis and sharing. (Similar to the existing law except that it adds “gathering information about information infrastructures” to the existing spying on foreign people/organisations.)
8C – Helping the Police, SIS and Defence Force by providing advice and assistance in helping them execute their own legally obtained warrants. (This is entirely new.)
The bill doesn’t significantly change how the GCSB can apply for an interception or search warrant, but it does add a whole new class of “access authorisation”. To quote section 15A(1)( b)

The Director may apply in writing to the Minister for the issue of an access authorisation authorising the accessing of 1 or more specified information infrastructures or classes of information infrastructures that the Bureau cannot otherwise lawfully access.

These authorisations are granted at the whim of the Minister (although see below) and are incredibly wide-ranging and open-ended. There are no recommendations of limits (other than what the Minister sees fit to impose) and there is no automatic expiry. And just in case you thought that the TICA/TICS law might provide some protection, the GCSB Bill goes on to add section 15A(5):

Here’s a curve ball from the Electoral Commission – they will only accept member numbers from United Future if they receive the original of a signed declaration.

This proof of membership is valid across all parties. Parties only have to sign an annual declaration that they have enough members, but to comply and be included in the count they must be legitimate members. Online only members don’t count.

It’s possible parties have inadvertently used an invalid member count.

Housing is heavily subsidised, and is made available to low income applicants on a sliding price scale.

Mortgages even for unsubsidised purchasers are financed at less than 1%.

At the ground floor of most housing schemes are markets and food centres, where vendors enjoy heavily discounted rent in order to provide meals for $3-4.

A doctors visit is $17 including medication. Surgery at government hospitals is also priced similarly.

There are 400,000 low income workers on “workfare” which effectively subsidises low paid employees So, although there is no minimum wage the “STATE” subsidises those whose wages are subsistance or below. This is set at $1300 to $2000/month according to the number of dependants & is means tested. (just like WFF)

Even then there’s an official unemployment rate (Dec 2012) of 1.9%

There are (means tested) benefits available. There’s no unemployment benefit system dedicated to helping the unemployed. They can, however get financial assistance from the “STATE” via the Public Assistance Scheme, Interim (short term) Financial Assistance, Rent & Utilitities Financial Scheme &Medifund. How much different from that offered by WINZ & free Public Hospitals?

Government, the “STATE”, also funds job training, course fee subsidisation,counseling & job data bank services. (Just like WINZ).

So much for for the absense of welfare safety nets. Take out the DPB, (which should never be other than short term even in NZ) & there’s a nicely functioning welfare state hiding under other names.

To save me wasting more valuable time researching government policy in far off lands, in future the default setting will be a presumption that you are lying through your teeth.

There is either freedom of expression or there is not. There is not middle ground. If you want to restrict somethings the first problem you have is on what basis and who decides ?. People who claim it on the grounds of being “offended” are always sacks of shit and should be treated as such. Those people are behind most of the restrictions on our freedoms now days.
