As for who is actually running things, just ask the question of which groups human society considers to taboo:

1. Immortal divine beings, aka “gods”, as denied by monotheism.
2. Aliens/extraterrestrials, denied since the foo fighters turned up at about the same time as the Nazis were getting involved in exotic technology (eg Viktor Schauberger, Hans Coler).

Mikenmild, what I believe isn’t important. What is important is what a reasonable man would believe, being in full possession of the facts. What the facts suggest is that the world is a far stranger place than we imagine.

For example the hollow (expanding) earth:
The continents fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, but only fit together on a much smaller planet.
The continents are far older than the oceans.
The continental rifts are marked by longitudinal stretch marks.
As a rotating object expands it’s rate of rotation decreases (this is now measurable on Earth).

I fail to see the difference in that and profiting off storage fees charged to those who store stolen TVs.

The same question remains: knowledge and compliance. From what I’ve read of the indictment I believe there may be evidence of some minor copyright infringement. But whether that substantiates the larger claim of a conspiracy is highly questionable. It appears plausible, at least, that the take-down procedure followed the letter of the law, even if it wasn’t proactive.

There may be a very good civil case that the nature of the set-up induced copyright (as per the inducement rule), but of course you cannot extradite someone on a civil lawsuit, and it is not the same as demonstrating a criminal conspiracy.

In essence I think you are right… obviously. But there is knowing in a general sense and knowing in a specific sense that would entail some sort of legal obligation.

Plenty of internet companies could institute filters of varying degrees of pro-activeness. But in many cases they don’t and they shouldn’t be required to either. The internet is based upon the free flow of information. We all know the Pirate Bay is a site full of links to illegal content. But Google “Pirate Bay” and guess what site shows up as the first link? Indeed it goes on further giving links within the site “Browse Torrents” and “How do I download?”. How useful that is. 🙂

As for Mike Joy, private agendaologist, what are the nutrient data and trends and the time-frame over which he is measuring them? How do those trends and his measurements relate to national water standards that have been enacted and are being promulgated through the regional planning process and do his numbers reflect the current Council, Feds and Fonterra initiatives in respect of reducing nutrient burdens? How will the targeted outcomes from those initiatives stack up against Mike Joy’s environmental utopia and how many credible scientists agree with Mike Joy’s assessment? Yes, that certainly is part of the problem. Why not nip off and have a nice cup of tea because I suspect that you aren’t going to find anyone here either side of the political fence who doesn’t think your man is a bit of a weasel. How you can defend someone who has sought to infer some sort of justification for the UF registration fail on the basis that if UF had said nothing nobody would have known, when that person just happens to be in charge of a department that relies upon honesty and disclosure and (quite rightly) penalises people for not being honest and making disclosure is absolutely beyond me. Suddenly, Mr Me Love You Long Time Baby spins that into a story about his perceived failings in the registration system. Root cause? UF fuckup. Same with this business. Root cause? Itchy trousers. Your moral and ethical compass seems to stop at having your feelings hurt. That isn’t a moral and ethical compass. For as long as people such as you defend this sort of behaviour and lend their support to the spin by Mr Weasel, public expectations of standards of behaviour from our politicians will continue to decline and as they do, the standards of behaviour will continue to decline. And the more you do this, the harder it will become here for you to get people to take you seriously if in fact that is what you want.

It would be pretty gloomy without them. NZ’s total exports for 2010 were approx $41 billion. Milk powder, butter & cheese accounted for $8,841 million while meat & offal contributed $5,058 million.

The time is well overdue for some Greenie wanker to come clean & tell us how we will balance the books if farming becomes impossible due to political meddling.

Specifics, not platitudes please.

milky, from memory, the melons have advocated de-intensification in the order of 30-40%. If it wasn’t those numbers, it was certainly up there. This makes a bit of a hole in the wallet and will require substantial exports of renewable timber hand carts and wooden false teeth by way of compensation.

I haven’t seen anything about reducing agricultural output to that extent, but I can’t be arsed researching it. What we do know is that there is plenty of scope to make agriculture more sustainable, and it is not always a direct trade off between profit and the environment.

It depends which of the wankers is holding the floor. Some want to shut down dairying entirely….the relatively sane want to reduce the total number of cows by about a quarter. Either way their aim is to reduce or eliminate runoff & fertiliser use which would take productivity back to the 19th century.

Farmers are in the business of converting various elements into protein. The soil is only a growing medium & stores only limited nutrients. If these are not replaced the farmland we have now will revert to scrub running one or two stock units/hectare very quickly.

If this is what they want this is what they’ll get but NZ’s living standards will go down the shitter. I want the arseholes to stand up & be honest about it & allow the electorate to make an informed choice.

Hint….we cannot have it all.

You are right – there is plenty of scope and lots to do but it can be done. The future is not as bleak as some would suggest.

Nah tdm, I just call things as I see them, and I know that that sort of false insinuation and rumour has already been hard on different families and relationships. It’s like kicking people on the ground – gutless bravado trying to inflict damage. With people like you cheering it on, which is just as bad.

What you don’t seem to get Pete which is surprising for it’s so very elementary, is that if Dunne wasn’t philandering then he would not have resigned. You’d have to be a drop-dead fucked-in-the-head mentally challenged village idiot whose just woken up from the lobotomy operation and is all confused, not to recognise that FACT. There is no possible doubt about it.

And then, rather than quietly fading into the background and resigning next election, he uses his “Mr Integrity” reputation [amongst the idiots] to pretend he resigned over something completely different. Thus proving to all who aren’t drop-dead fucked-in-the-head etc people that HE DOESN’T HAVE ANY INTEGRITY.

And Pete, THAT and THAT alone is why all of us non-fucked in the head people are busily calling him on his bullshit at every possible opportunity. If he’d faded quietly away then I wouldn’t have said a thing. But he didn’t, so he makes himself into a highly deserving target.

Simple as that. Period. Over and out. Sayonara. Case closed. Etc.
