Crusading journalist Bryan Bruce has another documentary ‘Mind The Gap’ on TV3 this Thursday night, about how the middle class is being squeezed by the rich and the poor, what happened to NZ’s socialist paradise etc etc

…Social Development Minister Paula Bennett said this week she was unlikely to take much notice of Bruce’s documentary.

“I’ll be in Parliament at that time so won’t be watching, and I prefer to base policy on evidence rather than react to other people’s ideologically-driven agendas.”

Labour social development spokeswoman Jacinda Ardern said she welcomed debate on inequality…

As I walked past Splash Club, a strip club in Courteney Place around 6am… pumping onto the street was ‘Hallelujah’…. if you don’t know it it’s a moving sort of a song. I said ‘that song is just so wrong for a strip club’. The reply from one of the doormen? ‘It’s our winding down song’. Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! Hilarious. Straight from The Simpsons!! I said ‘ah yeah, that’s all good then. What are you playing next, a hymn?’

And then some brown street degenerates asked me for ‘spare change’. I don’t think so. I got asked for money last week too. Is it impossible to go to a CBD without getting asked for a hand-out?

If you had asked him about Detroit, he could’ve told you about how it was “The Arsenal of Democracy” or the “Paris of the West”.

He no doubt knew what happened to Nagasaki and Berlin. Nagasaki had a nuclear bomb dropped on it, while Berlin was carpet bombed for years and then turned into the center of a proxy war between the US and Soviets for 40 odd years.

If you had asked this man in 1945 which city out of: Detroit, Berlin, and Nagasaki had the brightest future, he probably would’ve laughed and said “Obviously Detroit!”. In 1945 Detroit was >90% white and was a monument to the ability of Mankind.

Fast forward 68 years to 86% black Detroit. Financially, Morally, and spiritually bankrupt.

Nagasaki bounced back from a nuclear bomb to become the world class city it is today. In Berlin, less than 30 years have passed since it was blockaded by commies. Imagine telling this man in 1945 that black people were more destructive to civilization than nuclear weapons or communism.

Imagine telling him that he would die at the hands of two black teenagers and half the country wouldn’t give a damn. Tell him that the reason his life was so easy was because of “White privilege”.

Whatever you tell him, never tell him that he is appreciated. After all he just another old white man.”

“The truth is our exports are growing more slowly than our major markets overseas; and the global financial system is stable and offering very low interest rates. So our problems are here, not out there. This is an economy deeply constrained by physical and financial limits. Our households, still among the most indebted in the OECD, are rightly saving more and consuming less. All our major exporters can grow volume only slowly, and value barely at all.

Two charts in the Reserve Bank’s current forecasts tell the story. Potential growth, the rate at which the economy can grow without causing inflation, is bumping along barely above 1 per cent: and business investment is seriously anaemic.

The government believes the constraints are physical. Its solution is to drive hard to produce more of everything at lower cost – education, skills training, resource consents, water, milk, minerals and oil to name a few.

But you can only push efficiency so far. At some point you begin to undermine the very activity you are trying to support; and inevitably you run into physical constraints.

For example, the Government has set a goal of trebling the value of food and beverage exports by 2025. But you won’t find a single thoughtful farmer or industry leader who believes that’s achievable. Perhaps a doubling might be. But that would mean at least a 75 per cent increase in the number of cows, which would do massive damage to the environment.

The Government reckons it knows better. Thanks to its disdain for environmental disciplines, it is weakening them fast so we can farm, build, and extract more and more regardless of the cost. For example, the Government has just admitted, thanks to pressure from the Greens, that it has dropped its once-every-five-years State of the Environment Report

But if he hasn’t canvassed the impact of irrigation and aquaculture on government’s agenda, national environmental standards that are now being rolled out, opportunities to farm more profitably and sustainably with biological farming or other farming regimes that don’t rely on what has become the traditional phosphate/nitrogen model, the commercial consequences of GE versus non GE, initiatives in new markets and value add initiatives, medium to long term commodity price forecasts, then he hasn’t done his homework (again).

Yes Iraq had chemical weapons. That was never in doubt. When an America backed Sadam attacked Iran he used chemical weapons. Inspectors have found the American backed Muslim Brotherhood have used them in Syria too.

The fact chemical weapons were used in Syria does not mean the government used them. They are under attack from imported Jiihadists backed by Obama.

I also would like to hear the logic of a nuclear power dictating what weapons others are allowed to use ! The only Middle Eastern country with real weapons of mass destruction is Israel.

Does this mean by moving to more traditional right wing economics, small government and less intrusion in peoples life’s?

More religion (despite the framers being clear about a clear separation between church and state)
More guns, because not enough morons in the USA have guns.
More beating up on those pesky coloured folk.
More money for the armed forces despite already having enough fire power to wipe out everybody on the planet.
More legislation to outlaw stem cell research.

I do find it hilarious that the party Bedwetter wants to see in government is (according to him) the party of small government unless that happens to have something to do with religion or science. Any party that wants to force lies (religion, Jesus etc) down the throats of children and cover up undeniable truth (science) does not have any idea what small government is all about.

65% of Republican votes say the party needs to address major problems.
59% of all republican voters and 67% of those 18-39 say the party needs to reconsider some positions.

The party’s insistence that agw is a hoax will make it more and more unelectable into the future until their policy changes to reflect reality.
Not doing this will lead to the eventual demise of the Republican party. A result that will be good for America and the world.

Rasmussen poll: Majority of Americans skeptical of global warming science

Although White House spokesman Robert Gibbs may think “quite frankly” that most Americans believe global warming is not “in dispute anymore,” Rasmussen Reports’ latest poll contradicts him. The new poll reveals that:

Fifty-two percent (52%) of Americans believe that there continues to be “significant disagreement within the scientific community over global warming”; and

“Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Americans say it’s at least somewhat likely that some scientists have falsified research data to support their own theories and beliefs about global warming. Thirty-five percent (35%) say it’s Very Likely. Just 26% say it’s not very or not at all likely that some scientists falsified data.”

Rasmussen concludes that the skepticism of the American people is not related to the recent release of Climate Research Unit emails in the ‘Climategate’ scandal because “[j]ust 20% of Americans say they’ve followed news reports about those e-mails Very Closely, while another 29% have followed them Somewhat Closely.”

If Republicans are “the party of the rich,” how come “the rich” elect Democrats? While the first half of the question is conventional wisdom, the second half is congressional fact. At the risk of letting facts get in the way of a good story, here they insist on showing exactly the opposite of what most people think.

According to calculations of states’ average incomes, those states with the highest average overwhelmingly elect Democrats to Congress. This iconoclastic insight was underscored by a recent USA Today ranking of the states by their population’s average income.

The top five states in the ranking were: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, and New York. Together these five states have 8 Democratic senators (and 1 Independent and 1 Republican) and 48 Democratic House members (and 16 Republicans).

The starkness of the contrast is evidenced by Congress’s current configuration. The Senate has just a 53-47 Democratic majority, while the House has a 241-192 Republican majority.

Not only does the theory that the rich elect Republicans ring false, just the opposite prevails. The bottom five states in the listing were Mississippi, Idaho, Utah, West Virginia, and Arkansas. Together these five states have 7 Republican senators (and 3 Democrats) and 12 Republican House members (and 4 Democrats).

So, the highest per capita income states had an 80% Democratic Senate ratio and 75% Democratic House ratio; while, the states with the lowest per capita income had a 70% Republican Senate ratio and a 75% Republican House ratio.

Facts, it is said, are stubborn things. But they are nothing compared to “conventional wisdom.” In this case it mulishly maintains “conventional” at the expense of “wisdom.” Conventional wisdom is not simply wrong in its oversimplification, it is “loud wrong.”

Great albums Pauleastbay and Griff.
There is no way I could restrict myself to ten albums, so I will cheat a little bit and mention bands.
Firstly anything by Radiohead. Their first album is very much a band developing a sound, but from “The Bends” onwards, absolutely amazing (yes, even “King of Limbs”!). Best album is “Kid A” with “OK Computer” a close second.
Next anything by “The Smiths”. Their first album is their weakest by far but still has a great second half. Everything else after that is superb.
The three in a row albums by Public Enemy at their peak “It takes a nation of millions…”, “Fear of a black planet”, “Apocalyse 91…”. Absolutely fearless.
Anything from the second half of “The Beatles” catalogue, say 1966 onwards, when they broke away from being a ‘boy band’ and made music that defined an era.

Of the 1077 out of 40,000 respondents to the survey of engineers and geoscientists involved in the Alberta oil industry, 99.4% agreed that the climate is changing. 36% of them conclude that humans are primarily responsible, with a further 32% concluding that there’s both human and natural causes. 24% believe natural causes are more than human causes.

Apparently this is enough for Taylor to conclude that a majority of scientists are skeptical of the global warming crisis.

I’ll leave it to you to debunk the second one.

A simple rule to live by: If you’re reading a commentator or opinion piece on science in the media, you’re almost certainly reading conclusions that are plain wrong.

(And definitely agree that 10 is not enough.)

I have a Syrian Gas theory

The is little doubt that Assad got the Gas from Saddam Hussein. It was trucked directly from Iraq to Syria, which is why the US forces found empty specialist carrying trucks in the desert between the countries.
Remember it was similar gas used by Saddam to gas the Kurds.

It is possible that Russia is behind Assad’s troops – unofficially of course – to force Obama to get into the shitty conflict.
Putin would like nothing more that to drop Obama into the mire, goading Obama to keep his promise that Gas would be the last straw.

1. Where is the evidence Assad is behind the gas attack ?

2. Obama is quite openly supporting the Muslim Brotherhoods overthrow of Assad, so they can install Sharia law.

3. Saddam was backed by America when he used gas, in his attack on Iran. He may have had some left over, which the American backed Saddam used on the Kurds.

4. Obama has made other accusations of the Syrian army using gas against the jihadist mercenaries attacking the country. Independent investigations have found, IN ALL CASES, evidence the Obama backed Muslim Brotherhood had used the chemical weapons.

None of this information is hard to find. I think you are simply parroting local pro Obama media.
