Fonterra’s working name was Aorangi

There has been quite a lot of discussion over how the BCG timesheets showed the client as Fonterra in 1997 and 1999 when the name wasn’t registered until 2001.

A very well placed source tells me that the working name for Fonterra was in fact Aorangi. Fonterra only emerged as a possible name late in the piece when they dropped Aorangi due to both intellectual property concerns but also possible issues with Ngai Tahu.

So the naming of the client as Fonterra could not possibly have happened in 1997 or 1999 when the work was done. If there was any name being used back then it would have been Aorangi. It must have been changed at a later date,
