The video was in a US context and I am not aware it had any conspiracy source. Hopefully the term conspiracy theory [a theory which I do not believe in] is not some slandering accusation used by people because they do not like or agree with something. The US has had numerous unjustified police shootings and wars that have had no positive outcome, all generally with state authorisation so I guess statism in your estimation is ok. New Zealand has a much more moderate approach by government so the outcomes are infinitesimally small in harm in comparison. Fascism and communism are both statist outcomes.

For 45 years the Soviet Union never invaded Europe although it had the capacity to do so. In about 1990 it let Eastern Europe go [Gorbachev gave the order to East German troops on the Wall in 1989 not to shoot but let people go] and now Russia is a threat to Europe. The logic escapes me.

Gulag, the logic escapes you? First the old Soviet Union had no alternative but to let go of Eastern Europe in 1991. It was totally economically crippled and bankrupt.

Those on its borders like Poland , Ukraine , Baltic states should be able to choose their own destiny and join whoever . Russia is no longer an imperial or communist power nor should try to pretend to be one !

Its that simple really .

US is good at accusing people of things Lucia Maria, good a finding excuses to make war too

What happened at Debaltseve was an almost action replay of a battle during WW2 where a German army was destroyed.

The grandsons of those who beat a Nazi army there 70 years ago did the same thing ago a couple of weeks back

They actually opened up a humanitarian corridor so that people could leave, including the trapped Ukrainian army provided they abandoned their weapons.

The Ukrainian army shelled this corridor to prevent its use – in particular they did not want their weapons falling into the hands of the Novorussian forces (which they have)

The scale of this Ukrainian defeat has sent shock waves through the American elite and Ukraine itself – hence the bellicosity from the usual suspects

Classic, Bridges the National MP for Tauranga re-promises bridges for Northland – the same bridges taken off the to do list to fund roads of national significance.

This because it is not a nationwide election now but one for MP of Northland. Sounds like a satirical press statement.

The appropriate satire of related spin is that given this is a “promise” made by the sitting National government it is not dependent on electing a National MP for Northland. They can get 10 new two way bridges AND have Winston as their MP.

Not the same thing as bombing your own troops and civilians while they are under attack by Russian forces so that their weapons won’t fall into Russian hands. Your example of an airstrike on a separatist military target in Luhansk doesn’t even come close to that.

The American response was to encourage a putsch against the constitutionally elected Government of Ukraine who had accepted Putin’s offer of aid and replace that Government with one of their choosing hostile to Moscow

But that’s an interesting topic – how do homeless people do it ? If you had no means of income and no food – what do you do at that point to stay alive ? One option would be commit a crime. At least there’s food in prison. Probably won’t be what I do. It’s one form of prison or another. Make your choice. Actual prison – or dumbarse job prison.

That means a list NZ First could become a MP, and it will not be Ria Bond – her membership will be rescinded and Asenati Lole Taylor will re enter Parliament. Andy wants the to get the PI support and vote.

LOL, no. I meant propaganda in a good way. This was during the space race when the East and West were trying to outdo each other in their race to be the first man in space, first on the moon etc. Perhaps I shouldn’t have used the word “propaganda” as it has negative connotations. Perhaps I should have said advertising, but I was just following the lead of how Engadget was describing it. I just thought people might be interested in seeing it, as it mentioned new Zealand, and I hadn’t heard anything about it before.

Helen Clark weighs in on 500-year-old kauri battle

Former Prime Minister Helen Clark has weighed in on the battle to stop a 500-year-old kauri from being chopped down in Auckland.

Ms Clark – now the Administrator for the United Nations Development Programme – posted her views on a photo of supporters at a protest in Paturoa Rd, Titirangi, where the centuries’ old kauri is due to be brought down.

“Extraordinary in this day and age that a permit would be given to fell a 500 year old kauri tree,” she wrote.

The comment was made on a photo posted on Facebook by Waitakere Ranges Local Board member Greg Presland. He is pictured with fellow member Saffron Toms and board chairwoman Sandra Coney.

So what’s the Waitakere Ranges Local Board?

The Waitākere Ranges Local Board extends from Whatipu and Titirangi in the south, to Waitākere and O’Neill Bay in the north. Surrounded on the west and south by outstanding coastlines and popular beaches, the ranges are covered with mostly regenerating lowland and coastal rainforest. The area is home to a diversity of habitats for indigenous flora and fauna including kauri snails, glow worms and long-tailed bats.

This sentence in the article caught my eye:

Developers have gained a resource consent from Auckland Council approving the removal of the trees; however locals are adamant they should not be cut down.

So:
– Auckland Council has granted resource consent.
– Information about the Waitākere Ranges Local Board appears on the – you guessed it! – Auckland Council website.

I would have thought Helen Clark has more pressing issues to deal with – Report slams Clark’s UN programme and Stumbling blocks on Helen Clark’s road to UN Secretary General.
