I can’t suggest a safe remedy for your eyes….. but a good soapy or alcohol rinse of your lens may be in order.

This sort of thing just gets my goat. Parents in Queensland, Australia published a ‘retraction’ in the local newspaper Births and Deaths section to say that, opps, the daughter they gave birth to was, in fact, a son (because that’s the way ~~she~~ he sees ~~herself~~ himself now).

In 1995 we announced the arrival of our sprogget Elizabeth Anne, as a daughter. Oops! Our bad. He informs us that we were mistaken. We would now like to present our wonderful son Kai Bogert.

Where will this madness end? Utter stupidity. Sorry, parents – you were right the first time. To have parents apologizing for being “mistaken” about their child’s sex because the child has chosen another one is complete idiocy.

That’s just it. They’re serious. A few years back we would have all laughed at this as being ridiculous but now people have this idea that they can actually change what gender they are just by willing it or something. It’s actually insanity, and they want society to be complicit in it (which, obviously, many of the people leaving comments are). These people need a shock of reality.

Given the jihadist bride type normally go to Turkey and cross the border into Syria, I think we can regard this “intelligence” as dubious in worth.

I am all for the NZ Land Wars being commemorated in some way, maybe not as a public holiday, but similar to Armistice Day. Regardless of whether you were Maori or Pakeha, the land wars were a significant part of our history and played a significant part in the formation of this country. Maori came close to defeating the British and forcing them out, because it was costing the British govt a fortune to keep the army here and to support the colony. By the 1860s serious thought was being given to withdrawing because of the cost. However that didn’t happen as history tells us. Those who fought, both Maori and Pakeha, should be remembered and commemorated because they fought for their country and their people.

I cycle to my supermarket with varying frequency. Sometimes daily. Sometimes twice a week. And usually late evening. And I’ve been doing that for almost two years.

Last night I’m doing that – and there’s a cop car blocking the footpath. One male copper on his own gets out. Where have you come from ? My house. He seems to assume that I’m probably not the badarse and relaxes. We’re looking for badarses – dogs tracking them etc. Ok, well – I hope you catch them. And off I go on my cycle path.

Until I come to a second copper – all by herself. So I stop. This time it’s name, address, date of birth. All has to be tapped into a tablet and then let’s wait all day while the system clears me. And now let’s take some on the street mugshot photos. I said – is there a limit to this ? Her: have you ever been burgled ? Me: yes I have – on such and such date / year. Then she got picked up while I asked for a name or badge – which I still have.

I’m trying to look up my basic rights now for next time I’m on the street. What happens to the photos ? We delete them in a day or two if they’re deemed not needed. Oh cool – I’m just lawfully riding my bike mate – I didn’t ask for any of this shit – how much are they allowed to do ? I can’t find anything in a hurry that says these clowns can take mugshots of people who happen to be somewhere near a call out. Nearly two years and hundreds of trips. Bad timing that time.

And think about this – what kind of **fucking MORON** who has just committed a crime would cycle up to a cop car from 100s of metres away ? On a pushbike ?

These are the same type of two minute noodle cops as the ones who actually slowed down to ask me – dressed in running gear out running early one morning with mp3 beanie and headphones shoes and shorts – if I was ‘just out for a run?’ Fucking hell. It’s obvious what I was doing and without reasonable grounds to think otherwise they should’ve left me to carry on my lawful activity. The time of day makes NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE. It’s just as legal to run at 3am as it is at 3pm. Questioning people with no reasonable grounds whatsoever is harassment in my view. I don’t require any interaction with gimps as I go about my lawful activity. Nothing but a baseless rude interuption. What were they going to do ? Stop me and run me through the system ? Why ? Based on what ? Suspicious activity ? You can never be too careful ? Looks like a jogger but . . . but, but what ? What, fuck it, what ?? You just want to check every cunt no matter what they look like and that’s my point. They’re not parole officers that I need to ‘check-in with’. So therefore – just being on the street would be grounds enough to stop a person for their name and address – where have you been – what are you doing – fuck me, really ? You need clearance to be on a street. He’s ok, he’s ok. They’re vetting everyone on the grounds of why not just ID everyone we come across ? Yeah, why not ? There’s nothing control state about that, is there ?

Ok – you’ve got a clean record – walking along the street – cops stop to question you. What’s the minimum you have to do ? Can they take a mugshot ?

What sort of gets me is – they were called out – so every poor unfortunate bugger on the street – that’s it. You get caught up in it. If that had been a rape or murder, what does that mean ? That – because it happened on my cycle route when I go through that I’ll be a suspect just through sheer bad luck while going about my lawful business ? You were in the area – so – it could’ve been you – you’re coming with us – bad luck.

If you are not driving, you do not have to provide a Police officer with any information at all, unless you are arrested. I’m not sure whether they can take your photograph – it’s probably legal for them to photograph anyone in public, but I doubt that you are compelled to co-operate at all.
