Very disingenuous. Where does it say that. They are cooperating for a housing inquiry, that’s fairly clear, well to me and I still speak and understand straight forward English.

Doesn’t do any good coming here with rubbish like that, just stirs up te unwashed and fills the pages with rubbish comments, the very thing that Stuff and Herald are accused of.
This blog used to be better than that.

Any way housing is an Achilles heel for the Nats. In many ways they have become a victim of their success in reversing our population loss.
The problem for them is that they had their heads down and arses up and were not watching the landscape.
The failed any reforms of the RMA and the Local bodies.
They have actually failed to identify the real issue which is first home buyers and how not to lump them with a half million dollar mortgage.
Building a few houses will help alleviate the problem for some of the middle class and may slow down the value increases in that segment but it will not fix the issue of housing for first home buyers on lower incomes. and No matter what you do in the way of subsidies and WWF and other social welfare distributions it just results in the taxpayer being screwed over.

We need to build factory units that can be placed on Govt. lease land without the 3 car garaging etc etc and that are basic and good. No fancy trimmings like fancy this and that’s. The owners can do that in the fullness of time.
Add some rules around ownership and we can do that for $250,000.
Well I could as could a lot of others.

First home buyers with lower incomes need a start and this was what we did in the past. Worked well.

Still, doubt that highly paid and out of touch Ministers will ever grasp that concept.

I’m guessing Clint wasn’t the guy who drafted that one.

I’m also guessing their stupid “enquiry” will yield nothing everyone doesn’t already know, except they’ll have spent a lot of our money finding that out and they’ll proceed to spend even more of our money pretending that somehow, they’ve added some value, somewhere, to something.

Because as V2 makes plain you’re not selling the home owner the land. They will pay a ground rental which could be tied to income. The other point is that not all developments need three garages & four bedrooms all with en suites. Without the crap it would be possible to build a 120 sq/m mass produced dwelling for $250K.

They will end up tomorrow’s slums but will reduce the wailings of the bleeding hearts.

My my, we are in damage control!

This will a promotion for both and the forces which divided the Labour Party and were the reason behind Values Party (- Greens) from 1972 are finally being overcome.

And they will be fighting the corporatocracy TPPA lot whose snout is in the trough through public private partnerships where the private takes the profit and the public pays the losses.

1. Increase taxes on those who have worked for a living and built up savings, perhaps through “capital gains” taxes. And on those who aren’t smart enough to get in on the wealth redistribution.
2. Give the money through subsidised house building to “young people who are being cheated by the chinese” who deserve to own a home without paying the market value, with the unwilling help of those who thought they were saving to put themselves in a retirement home, add on an extension to for more children, or go on holiday perhaps to see distant relatives.

4. .Presumably people who worked hard (or don’t get in on this redistribution) can suck it, and need to realise they are there to provide financial windfalls to others who complain rather than working towards something? Of course the houses will likely be bought by investors, and friends of Labour and Green politicians, and this will turn out to a horrendous debacle.

Isn’t that the only logic that works? But is never actually vocalised by the vague explanation-is-too-hard faction?

Labour and the Greens is not where the real political game is. That is just a side show to distract normal decent mainstream voters that want jobs, law and order, structure and peace to blindly think that National is the only option.

The reality is that National is no different to Labour beyond smoke and mirrors. Not different in any meaningful way.

Take a look. John Key is the great white hope but he supports Obama, Cameron, Turnbull, Merkel and all the other globalists that want to import millions of taxpayer sucking lifestyle nomads from Syria and beyond to deliver “diversity” into the NZ cultural landscape.

That diversity doesn’t work so well does it? France is an awful wake up call to NZ.

deadrightkev, you’re right … to a point. But just have a look at the things Andrew Little has been proposing recently and ask yourself if we are all better off if he isn’t in charge and capable of actually carrying them out. It’s a scary thought.

Labour’s process has always been to borrow and spend, borrow and spend, without any thought of how it is going to be paid back. Say what you want about John Key (and I don’t agree with a lot of what he is doing) but at least he seems to have got NZ back in the black – at least better off than we were under the fiscally irresponsible Helen and Co.

Don’t get me wrong I am not a hostile enemy of Key personally but I am very much an enemy of the politics and political allies he has aligned himself with globally. Their agenda is not a positive agenda for NZ.

Andrew Little is chicken little. I don’t even mention him. He will be gone next election because he doesn’t stand for anything that real people want. The Greens message is dying out too. That is why Trump is so popular and he will continue to inspire other leaders to come forward IMO. All NZ needs is one strong political leader who is prepared to stand up to the media for real people and keep exposing the progressive cultural diversity for the destructive bullshit that it is.

Cullen could have borrowed to fill the cupboard. Had he had a spend up then we would have had bad credit and John Key would not have been able to borrow up big to give people a rosy feeling coming up to elections.

The Christchurch earthquakes have brought overseas insurance capital here and improved GDP, not worsened it.

It seems many are forgetting that for any new house that a Reserve Contribution has to be paid. That can be tens of thousands of dollars. Then there’s the cost of all the professional advisors, Planners, architects, soil reports, road engineers, Quantity Surveyors etc etc.
The ‘cost’ of building a house is just not materials and labour.
Given Labour can’t even organise their own funding and the AC is such a complete disfunctional mess (Housing NZ is not far behind- some of their projects are almost farcical in how they are managed), then I have no faith in their ability to deliver a dog kennel, let alone 10,000 houses.

He spent and that is a way to keep the economy running.

In the USA they spend some 20% of their tax on military stuff to that end; keeping the big corporates happy.

But Cullen did not take Key’s path of big borrowing to keep the economy running. Now we run the risk of being taken over when we cannot repay, and Cullen was avoiding that.

I hear that the fuck-ups applied to and secured the approval of the Electoral Commission to merge and to operate as …… The New Zealand Red Melon Party (2016).

Further, the Electoral Commission has approved their choice of the new party’s colour strip – deep red with a candy stripe of bile green.

The 2014 PREFU gives the net core Crown debt dropped to 10 billion by 2008. Then as National took over it started rising and by 2013 it was 55 billion.

naaska is on track.
Except Naaska done right the can be developed over time into tidy places.
Been in a development twice this week where the houses are all the same around a tidy drive and courtyard area, all owned separately although the houses are not of the moveable variety. There is also another where the houses are on leased land and owned by the inhabitants.
One of the local Iwi has probably 40 little units built on their land. great views out to the coast.

But don’t tell those other smart types further up. Its just not possible to do this stuff in their tiny minds.

Obviously you don’t read well.
Not a Green fan nor a Labour fan nor for that matter a Nat. fan. Really only interested in idea’s and results, most of which seem to be seriously lacking.

oh and yes I did miss the signature.
So used to seeing the negative shit on here now I guess I can to the wrong conclusion.
Rarely see anything positive said here these days. Sad really.

Aw, Viking2, 2.26pm…

I agree with you that there’s far too much negativity in here.

The idea of a Labour/Greens/NZ First ‘troika’ fills me with a sense of deep unease, ha. but we should rejoice that we live in a democracy – that if and when the Nats’ time comes, they will leave office peaceably and the sun will come up the next morning … with no armies, shootings or riots involved.

And if that threesome is as bad as I suspect it will be, heh heh, we get the chance to turf THEM out after just three years … and, again, they’ll go peaceably, the sun will come up the next morning, no armies, shootings or riots will be involved…

It ain’t a perfect system but it knocks excrement out of the alternatives!

I just wish that this wonderful MMP environment would deliver more (even SOME) of the compromise we were assured it would bring in…
