        The crown prosecutor Philip Morgan claimed he had his wife’s brain on his shirt. There was a 344A hearing prior to trial which casts considerable doubt whether he was allowed to make this false claim. It was the statement he repeated 33 times in summing up, and encouraged Rachel Smalley to declare it the piece of evidence that stuck in her mind on radio later that day. This item of evidence is in the process of being demolished, the Texan Rod Miller has been widely discredited by international experts including Chris Halkides. The test he used was used backwards, no cells were identifiable before he was given the sample, yet he used immunohistochemistry to say it was central nervous tissue. At least one journalist who covered every minute of the trial told me that if that piece of evidence goes the crown case is gone. New Zealand will wake up soon to this terrible hoax, and the people of Palmerston North will be shattered. That is a promise SC.

    It was one of the most appalling acts in a New Zealand court to afford Weatherstone a day or two to torment his victims’ parents in my view. I was puzzled by this aspect of the case, not by whether he did the crime. Smoking guns and all that, which are handy. But examine the science when people claim alibis like being 74 kilometers and 150 kilometers from a crime scene respectively. Alibis should work every time, but rely on a young detective to not be fooled so easily lol. Bamber is a case in point.

      Be that as it may, I’m not sure how the courts are supposed to prevent an accused choosing to speak in their own defense? (and, no, I’m in no way defending Weatherstone)

        Bamber is stuck in jail with a fairly disorganised group playing odd cards. That he is innocent is beyond any doubt when the ballistics and all evidence are analysed. Get the moving parts to a minimum, see if that works, and Sheila did it fits perfectly. She never fought with her father as we are supposed to believe would have been necessary. She shot him four times before the gun was empty after shooting her mother who was asleep. The case is interesting because it sometimes is used to support the state sponsored crime against David Bain, to illustrate how common it is for 23 year olds to kill the family to speed their inheritance. It is of course very uncommon, neither Bamber nor Bain were stupid enough to embark on a sure to fail strategy.

      Ambushing the prosecution with an alibi during a trial used to be one of the defence’s tricks. The defence must now give the prosecution prior notice of a claimed alibi so the police can check it out. The prosecution need not inform the defence if it has information that does not support the alibi – the prosecution can blow the alibi out of the water with no prior notice.

        So you have some information damaging to Lundy’s alibi that he was in Petone? That would be interesting to hear against the science of fuel consumption, odometer readings and difficulty of keeping your hair and eyeglasses clean in the bloodiest attack in NZ history.
        Further a plan would need surety of not being cctvd or spotted returning. Er no, the case is a hoax.

        Yes that is not brain tissue. It may be cns tissue but that is unlikely, but it tested for animal not human rna. All the testing was bogus. Lundy is innocent, I have read the material that proves it in a hundred different ways. Get used to it.

      Well of course you are supposed to believe it. The current prime minister Theresa May did her bit as home secretary to withhold evidence in his favour. The case has become too big to fail, but there is reliable information saying the shit will hit the fan soon and she will be dealing with it.

In all the time here I have stated some obvious truths about the Lundy case, not a word in rebuttal is offered, just endemic down ticking and ad hominem attacks on me and the subject.         I believe Lundy is guilty. I am under no obligation to trawl through the details of his trials.

        Well that means you want to execute an innocent man. Believing in his guilt is not enough. That is where the jury came unstuck, believing the crown and ignoring the science. There is a 200 page book available that dissects the case in infinite detail. Few have read it, they should. It is a revelation that explodes the myths. I promise you.

    In that case, it is not just that one sincerely hopes that it is not that “the system put away an innocent man on insufficient evidence”, but that one sincerely hopes that an innocent man has not been put away because his own wife and kids committed perjury against him.

        You have to admit, though, that the system absolutely does rely on conspiracies of perjury not being committed. In some cultures, this cannot be taken for granted. We should be more grateful for the cultural conditions in which we find ourselves, and be aware of the systemic peril of losing those conditions.

      Phil, how come his supporters refuse to debate the issue? They do not just claim as you do about his former wife and three of his children lied but the Titford was a thorn in the side of the government so the framed him and put him away for a long time.
      
      I am amazed that Don Brash and Muriel Newman are supportive people like John Ansell and Mike Butler who post nonsense about poor Titford but ban debate on the issue.
      
      Phil, can you tell us why he has not appealed his 24 year sentence?
      
      We have a few lawyers here I would like to see one say there is even a remote chance that Titford was fitted up because he was a thorn in the side of the government.
      
      The government has had to deal with worse than him like Crim Dot Con. They have not been able to influence the judiciary.

        I’m not one of the people making a cause out of his case, which depends on the argument that his own wife and kids committed perjury against him. This is impossible to prove.
        
        I do, however, say that it is simply toooo convenient to some, to just “move on” on the debate about land owners and fair compensation for Treaty takings, “because the guy was a criminal anyway”. That is a discussion NZ needs to have, and changing the subject for whatever reason, is just a cop-out.
        
        And as I said the other day, SJW’s would usually argue that some guy under severe stress over his whole life’s work and assets, might be allowed some mitigation of guilt for what he did in an unhinged state. But when the guy has been a target all along, a fall guy in the wrong place at the wrong time in the Treaty confrontation era, nah. The quicker he can be pushed into the abyss, the better. Sounds like the sort of thing the SJW’s hold against harsh capitalism and “privilege”.
        
        EDIT: and 24 years? As his supporters say, he could have raped and murdered his family and not got any stiffer sentence. Again, SJW’s would usually be decrying the “vigilante justice” inherent in sentencing this stiff.

        Like I said, I have not made a “cause” out of this case and don’t know the detail. What bothers me is that the conversation NZ should be having about land owners being compensated properly for Treaty “takings”, gets derailed into “oh but he was a criminal anyway”.
        
        I have read enough from his supporters to get the impression that quite a few people seem to have big nervous issues over something they are up against, including even some jury members. And the supporters include some people I have always thought to be well above “conspiracy theorist loon” status. If they have become that, I am disappointed.

I have been brooding over the disconnect between road policing’s focus on issuing speeding tickets with no tolerance, and the actual circumstances in which people became “road toll” statistics over the holiday period.

I have come to think there is a bit of the “Teina Pora effect” at work here. Catching the real culprit is a hard job, but a handy fall guy happened to turn up in the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time (depending on whose point of view you take) so an appearance of swift justice could be presented. The decent motorist doing 105 km/h on a straight stretch of state highway, or overtaking safely, is the handy scapegoat when the Plods can’t forestall the Darwin-award behaviour and non-speed-related incidents, some of which occur offroad anyway, that actually make up the high “road toll”.

The reality is one in which you sit tied up with a gag around your mouth, you can meet your Negroid oppressor’s eyes and try and give him the ‘Hey man, come on, don’t do this” treatment and discover to your horror that nothing comes back, no empathy, no warmth, no humanity, you are the rabbit looking for sympathy in the eyes of the dog.

An individual in this society would not be rewarded for altruistic behaviour and may indeed be taken advantage of by more ruthless members of the tribe who view him as an easy mark, reducing his selective advantage. In the modern world, you have thrown together disparate human populations which have evolved very different social survival strategies over millions of years. Whites are often shocked at the lack of remorse and shamelessness displayed by blacks when they are confronted with evidence lawless or immoral behaviour. Indeed, the black reaction to being caught embezzling or stealing is often denial or anger at the victim or what they perceive as “unjust” and “racist” system of white law. Seemingly average blacks seem to take any opportunity to proudly loot stores and are often angry at having to pay for anything during normal operation. Whites are also astonished at the speed at which blacks resort to violence over what whites see as trivial matters. Black men rape nearly 40,000 white women per year in the US alone. Rape cannot be attributed to economics, historical oppression, the nebulous “white privilege” or any other progressive excuse.

Addressing this people on high incomes should be volunteering to pay more tax to help those in need and the Government should not assume small tax increases would be a disaster. Why is it that people that have worked hard all their lives to save for retirement and a nest egg have to be responsible for people that want all the treasures we never had in our youth and then expect us to pay for it.

      A hip replacement is a special kind of assistance and cannot be compared with welfare in general.
      For example, a hip replacement is a “one-time” fix. It “resets” the recipient’s life and lets them continue on. A hip replacement cannot be “milked” over time like welfare payments can.

    Becroft was appointed to the Bench in 1996, well before Clark’s time. His principal quality has always been that he cares greatly about the people he is involved with. A thought just occurred reading about that TradeMe yacht auction.

When Fairfax bought it they were buying the modern replacement for the ‘rivers of gold’ classified advertising revenue stream that used to sustain the newspapers. That’s why Kirk paid what was it, about $600m.

So the thought is I wonder how much of their readership decline is due to the fact no-one buys it for the classifieds anymore vs their utter shite content which keeps getting worse?

  2 cases involved cops shooting armed men and one involved a nutter with a machete who’d already been tasered which hadn’t stopped him.
  
  If I’m not wrong , every death at the hands of the cops is investigated by the coroner , so why these muppets are also sticking their oar in seems like more self job creation.
  
  Our police do a great job and I’d prefer to see them on the end of a real gun taking out real crims , as in these instances rather than using a speed camera on the side of the road , at the behest of management , pissing off the general public , who do support them .

This is Roberts on the US economy, it’s excellent as befits a former assistant treasury secretary. Sorry about the length but below is a condensation of something much longer. I haven’t used quotes to give more reading space:

The Western world and that part of the world that partakes of Western explanations live in a fictional world. We see this everywhere we look—in the alleged machinations of Russia to elect Donald Trump president of the US, in claims that Saddam Hussein and his (nonexistent) weapons of mass destruction were a threat to the United States (a mushroom cloud over American cities), that Assad of Syria used chemical weapons against his own people, that Iran has a nuclear weapons program, that a few Saudi Arabians outwitted the entirety of the US, EU, and Israeli intelligence services and delivered the greatest humiliation to the “world’s only superpower” in the history of mankind, that Russia invaded Ukraine and could at any moment invade the Baltics and Poland, that the US rate of unemployment is 4.6%, that China’s trade surplus with the US is due to Chinese currency manipulation, and so on and on.

Allegedly we live in a scientific era of information, but what good can come from faulty orchestrated information? As long as fake news delivered by presstitutes serves powerful private and governmental interests, how can we know the truth about anything?

For example, consider the claim found everywhere in US government and US media statements that the massive US trade deficit with China is the result of Chinese currency manipulation, keeping the yuan underpriced relative to the US dollar.

This false claim, which is widely accepted as truth even by Russian writers on Russian websites ( http://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2016/12/12/only-one-step-away-from-global-trade-war.html ), is nonsense. China’s currency is pegged to the US dollar. It moves with the dollar. China pegged its currency to the US dollar in order to create confidence in the Chinese currency. Over the past decade China has adjusted the peg of its currency to the dollar and permitted a rise in the value of the Chinese currency from 8.1 yuan to 6.9 yuan to the US dollar. (The yuan reached a strength of 6 to the dollar, but a rising dollar was pulling up the yuan, causing China to widen the float in order to avoid undue appreciation because of the US dollar’s rise to other Asian and European currencies.) How is a rising yuan “currency manipulation”? Don’t expect an answer from the presstitute financial media or the junk economists who comprise the neoliberal economics profession.

The function of the myth of Chinese currency manipulation is to hide from view the fact that the massive US trade deficit with China is due to US corporations offshoring their production for US markets to China. When US corporations bring goods and services produced offshore back to the US for sale, they enter as imports, thus swelling the trade deficit. The myth about currency manipulation shifts the blame from US corporations to China, while in fact it is the return of offshored production, such as Apple computers, for sale to Americans that swells the US trade deficit.

The offshoring of jobs benefits only a small number of shareholders and executives, and it imposes massive external costs on American society. Former prosperous manufacturing states are in long term depression. Median real family incomes have fallen. Real estate values in abandoned manufacturing areas have fallen. The tax base has eroded. State and local government pension systems cannot meet their obligations. The social safety net is unraveling.

Instead of telling the truth, the presstitute financial media and the corrupt US economics profession have hidden the massive social and external costs of jobs offshoring under the totally false claim that offshoring is good for the economy.

Throughout its history the US has suffered from public lies, but not until the Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama regimes did lies become so ubiquitous that truth disappeared.

What can Americans expect from the economy in 2017? First, some perspective. The defeat of stagflation by President Reagans supply-side policy gave the Clinton regime a good economy. The improved US economy was not entirely a good thing, because it masked the adverse consequences of jobs offshoring that began in earnest after the Soviet collapse in 1991.

The Soviet collapse encouraged the change in attitude of the Indian and Chinese governments toward foreign capital. Wall Street and big box retailers such as Walmart forced the relocation of much of US manufacturing to China, to be followed after the rise of the high speed Internet by offshoring professional skill jobs such as software engineering to India. These relocations of US economic activity to foreign locations hollowed out the US economy and reduced the job opportunities for Americans.

The growth of real median family income ceased. Without increases in consumer spending to drive the economy, the Federal Reserve substituted a growth in consumer debt for the missing growth in real median family income. But the growth of consumer debt is limited by the lack of growth in consumer income. Thus, an economy dependent on debt expansion is limited in its ability to expand. Unlike the federal government, the American people cannot print money with which to pay their bills.

Alone among those contending for political office, president-elect Trump has fingered jobs offshoring as a blow to the American people and the US economy. It remains to be seen what he can do about it, as jobs offshoring serves the interests of the global corporations and their shareholders.

For many years now the monthly payroll jobs reports show the US descending into Third World status, with the vast bulk of the claimed new jobs in lowly paid, non-tradeable domestic services.

…a large share of corporate profits has come from labor cost savings from jobs offshoring. For corporations such as Apple, whose products are almost entirely produced in Chinese factories, there are no more profits to be secured from jobs offshoring. To keep the profits flowing, Apple plans to replace the inexpensive Chinese labor with robots, which do not have to be paid any wage. What better shows the disconnect between capital and labor than to robotize Chinese factories in the face of an excess supply of labor?

Paul Samuelson’s economic textbook taught the fallacy of composition, what is good for the individual might not be good for the group. The Keynesian economists applied this to savings. Saving is good for the individual, but if aggregate saving exceeds investment, aggregate demand falls, pulling down income, employment, and saving.

This is the case with jobs offshoring. It can increase profits for the firm, but in the aggregate it decreases aggregate income of the population and limits sales growth. What jobs offshoring does in this respect will be done in spades by robotics.

When I read economists and financial presstitutes glorifying the cost savings of robotics, I wonder where their mind is or if they have one. Robots don’t purchase housing, home furnishings and appliances, cars, food, clothing, vacations, entertainment. When robots have the jobs, where do humans get the incomes with which to purchase the products produced by robots?

So, can Trump fix the economy in 2017?

There can be no fix unless the ladders of upward mobility that made the US an opportunity society can be put back in place. This will require bringing home the offshored middle class jobs or, assuming that new high value-added jobs could somehow be created, preventing the new jobs from being moved offshore.

There is a way to do this: Base the corporate tax rate on the geographical location where corporations add value to their product. If corporations add value domestically with US labor, the tax rate would be low. If the value is added abroad, the tax rate would be high. The tax rate can be adjusted to offset the benefits of lower costs abroad.

Despite the progaganda about globalism and free trade, the US economy was built on protection, and its strength was the domestic market. US prosperity was never dependent on exports. And as the US dollar is the world reserve currency, the US doesn’t need exports in order to pay for its imports. This is why the US can tolerate the trade deficits caused by jobs offshoring.

Globalism is a concoction by the neoliberal junk economists in complicity with the big banks, Wall Street, and multinational corporations. Globalism is a disguise for the exploitation of the many in behalf of the few. The alleged benefits of globalism were used to justify the offshoring of jobs and to enrich corporate executives and shareholders.

It is the domestic economy that is important, not the global economy. The suffering population in flyover America finally learned this lesson and elected Trump.

On Friday morning, president-elect Donald Trump called on the chairs of the House and Senate committees to open an investigation into how NBC obtained top secret intelligence before he was even briefed on it himself.

On Thursday afternoon, NBC reported on information from the intelligence report given to President Barack Obama on alleged Russian hacking. Trump himself was not scheduled to be briefed until the following day.

After the report aired, the president-elect took to Twitter to question how the news agency got their hands on the report. “How did NBC get ‘an exclusive look into the top secret report he (Obama) was presented?’ Who gave them this report and why? Politics!” Trump tweeted.

The following morning, NBC published another story saying that an unnamed senior U.S. intelligence official with direct knowledge of the report leaked more details to them, specifically that top Russian officials celebrated Trump’s win. Trump then took to Twitter once again, calling for an investigation into intelligence being leaked to the network.

“I am asking the chairs of the House and Senate committees to investigate top secret intelligence shared with NBC prior to me seeing it,” Trump tweeted.
