      But 100% of the Berkeley Mayors incited this riot and then victim-blamed to excuse it. 100% of the University leadership did their level best to create the context for a riot. 0% of the University sees it as important to support the first amendment if a conservative’s rights are being infringed. You don’t support the constitution the federation is based on – fine – don’t expect federal funding.

    Donald is starting to learn a hard lesson – the Judiciary is a separate branch of Government and he cannot boss the Judiciary around (he can only appoint federal Judges – he cannot remove them). So referring to a US District Judge (equivalent to NZ’s High Court Judges) as a ‘so called judge’ is not exactly going to help his case when Donald appeals to the 9th Circuit Appeal Court. There are 4 vacancies on 9th Circuit which Donald will be filling, but I doubt he can stack the 9th Circuit before his appeal.

        Donald cannot personally remove him. It is extremely doubtful that he could be removed through the usual channels. Anyway the 9th Circuit would have to utterly trash his judgment before there could be any consideration of removal. Also the Judge has an excellent track record and his mana is very high.

      It was a temporary ban. The judge has completely repudiated the logic of those seeking the stay and dismissed their case.
      
      The law adjudicator has correctly refused to act as a law over-turner.

        This is now three people who think the law does not apply to them:
        1. Rob Muldoon – in Fitzgerald v Muldoon
        2. Teresa May – re Brexit
        (they were both tripped up by the Bill of Rights 1688 (UK and NZ)).
        3. Donald Trump – Executive Orders must be made within the law – there was a serious disconnect between the Order and the alleged reasons for it which is why the judge suspended it. He needs to get Congress and Senate to change the law to achieve his purpose – the GOP controls both Houses so he should not find this a problem.

        Obama is widely reported to approve of, and support, continued protests.
        
        He has also welcomed BLM etc to the white house, so he clearly has some rapport with some of them.
        
        Peaceful protest is fine, but the shit happening in UC Berkley is not.
        
        When voicing his approval, why did he not also say something like: “I support peaceful protest. There is no place for violence.” etc.?
        
        The only conclusion that anyone (inluding the rioters) can draw from this is that they condone it.

        His support for Americans to ” use their rights” included a statement about standard gatherings rights i.e. not violence. That statement was well before the riot, not during, or after.
        
        Then, whilst on holiday the ex-President didn’t say something, therefore you are allowed to infer something from that?

    Unless more New Zealanders become aware of the content of modern Treaty discourse, and where that discourse will inevitably take us, we are going to wake up one day, and find that New Zealand has been reconfigured more or less as that shown in the TV3 documentary “2050 – What if … “.
    
    Then New Zealanders, Pakeha , Pacific and Asian, and Maori too – for most Maori want to be ‘just New Zealanders’ – will ask “How could this have happened?” And the judges will keep explaining in their judgments, and the Ministers will remain silent, the media will bite on the sensational aspects of it, and no ‘ordinary’ New Zealander will be any wiser…”

  The travel insurers will be loading the premiums of visitors to Europe very soon. This will of course be offset by hotels desperately dropping room rates and tourist spots specialing rates. Well Muslims have just about screwed every enjoyable aspect of air travel, so here’s hoping that sea cruises aren’t the next target. I know one travel agent who says clients are choosing destinations very carefully now; a damn shame really.

And in the main, those who have genuine expertise are accorded extra respect by reasonable people in this forum. Maggy Wassilief’s knowledge of botany and Odakyu-sen’s insights into Japanese culture spring to mind.
      
      In your case, neither your age nor purported experience entitles you to any automatic respect. Indeed, it is sad and pathetic. Your activism – name dropping politicians you have spoken to in person or on talkback radio, making a trip to Rotorua to participate in a SST gathering, trolling in this forum for Winston Peters, and then doing endless victory laps about it – are the actions of a sad, lonely ego-addicted attention-seeker. I wouldn’t usually be so blunt, but then…you raised the matter for discussion.
      
      Yes, your age and experience should give you wisdom, but the poor judgement and lack of self-perspective exhibited in your comments, means you have forfeited the respect others of your years are often initially given. It is common for politicians, sports-people and the police to attract time-wasting wannabees, eager to inject themselves into a process from which they would otherwise be excluded. Chuck Bird, you demonstrate all the characteristics of such a person.

        I don’t mind conservative Christians, as long as they debate honestly and with an open mind on the subjects they initiate for discussion (e.g, creation science and making the book of Genesis part of the science curriculum, the place of the modern state of Israel and a Palestinian state in biblical prophecy and geo-political developments), and, when it is pointed out to them, they are cherry picking facts (e.g., insisting that the one translation of the biblical text that supports their point of view is the one that should be relied upon), they desist.
        
        But if they don’t, and especially when they claim their perspective is God’s, they deserve (to modify a Trumpism) “extreme admonition”.

To stop money laundering etc it seems that banks, sharebrokers etc need to obtain evidence of a client’s address eg power bill, rates bill etc. However the lawmakers have overlooked that more and more of such documents are being sent electronically and a printout may not be acceptable. There could come a time where a client just cannot produce evidence of an address. What then?

  You can generally print a statement when you get an electronic bill. The print outs are indistinguishable from a mailed bill. Just fold the print out and no one would know if it had been mailed or not.

It strikes me forcibly that the multi-culti Quislings in the West have emboldened “the other” to such an extent that there is now a brazen display of an attitude of “entitlement” on the part of would-be immigrants.

So I find it funny now that what comes around goes around and the Media are now finally getting their fair share. The Media in the past have high lighted the things that have happen to Politicians and made fun of our Prime Minister’s but finally now and I must say I don’t agree the Media the ones that have taken sides in the past have been bitten by the people they supported in the past.

1) Make ALL ‘facilitation payments’ illegal.

2) Legislate to create an NZ independent anti-corruption body, tasked with educating the public and preventing corruption.

3) Legislate for NZ Members of Parliament (who make the laws for everyone else) to have a legally enforceable ‘Code of Conduct’.

4) Make it an offence under the Local Government Act 2002, for NZ local government elected representatives to breach their ‘Code of Conduct’.

5) Make it a lawful, mandatory requirement for Local Government elected representatives to complete a ‘Register of Interests’ which is available for public scrutiny.

6) Make it a lawful, mandatory requirement for Local Government staff, responsible for property or procurement, to complete a ‘Register of Interests’ which is available for public scrutiny.

7) Make it a lawful, mandatory requirement for Local Government Council Controlled Organisation (CCO)) Directors and staff, staff, responsible for property or procurement, to complete a ‘Register of Interests’ which is available for public scrutiny.

        The concern around fake news has been around for a while now – it’s just that with the DNC hacking, it’s hit prominence, and now the Democrats are concerned about it in a big way rather than those that have been noticing what Russia has been doing for a number of years now.
        
        The previous rise in prominence was the MH-17 downing with Russians trying to say it was everyone but them.
        
        And prior to that Russians taking over Crimea – but oh, the people there voted in favour of union. Yeah, right.
        
        It’s just been a gradual thing until the DNC and then everyone has noticed. Many are just a lot slower on the uptake than others.

  In this case, by ordering it to be stayed temporarily on the grounds that there is an arguable case that the law is unconstitutional. The separation of the executive and the judiciary is one of the great cornerstones of democracy, enabling a check on the unbridled exercise of executive power.   Fletch, I think you will find it in the constitution where the judiciary can override or review certain executive orders that are seen to be against the same constitution and its ammendments .
  
  Otherwise known as the seperation of powers of the three branches pf goverment with their respective checks and balances to ensure the Constitution is upheld .

A heart warming little pro refugee piece from Mau but more striking is the glowing almost sycophantic praise of Kailesh Thanabalasingham.
Now I am making no judgement whether the accusations against this guy are true or false but definitely there are enough question marks in my opinion to warrant further investigation but Mau seems sure he is a saint apparently.

I see Stuff is headlining that Mr Peters was threatened with arrest for standing in a public place in sight of someone who did not want to see him.
It did occur to me that the notion of an offence of undesirable visibility in a public place did have temporary appeal.

Complainant: “Officer, there is Mr Little. Arrest that man!”

PC “I will sir, but why””

Complainant: “Because he is there”.

On reflection, I suspect that enforcing such a law would be as realistic as expecting the news media not to publish such frikken stupid headlines!!

These are the Breed of Dogs I recommend for Auckland (not in any order)

GSD
(Get Working Strains some of the east Europeans are seriously good)

Doberman
(Look up their Service in the Pacific WW2 Great Dogs)

Rottweiler (Great Jaws)

Great Dane Deutsche Dog
(Harlequins are really nice)

Boxer (good with kids – great guard)

Plenty of other like the Bullmastiff etc

Not having something like the above to protect yourself and your family is just irresponsible
when you consider what the Government policies are.
