  As I explained in a comment to the 7am posting ‘MSD Must Explain’, there is nothing in this – the only ‘crime’ I can see here is Winston did not meticulously check his bank statements and find that MSD had failed to action his annual returns concerning his circumstances.
  The more serious matter of concern is how the matter hit the ‘public domain’ in breach of normal privacy expectations.

      Yes (and no).
      As an earner or with other income other than that taxed at source – say Bank deposits only then yes. With only super then no as super is taxed at source and the IRD are fully aware.
      If you ask for an IR3? then it shows all of this clearly.
      Winston I am sure as an employee of the public would almost certainly have to file a tax return.

        There is generally no need to file a IR3 if your only income is subject to PAYE. If you have investment income you need to file a IR3 and IRD can also request that you file one. Winston (or his tax agent) would almost certainly do a IR3 as he would probably be eligible for refunds and anyway would probably have investment income.
        Someone on NZ Super can elect whether to have it taxed at ‘primary’ or ‘secondary’ rates. Winston probably elects to have it taxed at a ‘secondary’ rate as his Parliamentary income would be significantly greater than his super.

      I commented before DPF added his update. When applying for super misrepresenting living circumstances on the initial application form or the annual follow-ups is a serious matter. It is doubtful he misunderstood things since he has well above average intelligence and would be knowledgeable on the superannuation regime. I am very surprised if he did try and pull a fast one since he he goes around claiming he has integrity (the little old ladies he speaks to love him for this) and he would not need the money. However perhaps like another poster here and his dud passport application he thought he would not be caught.
      
      There is another difference here. Meteria ‘fessed up first (unless someone was about to blow the whistle) but Winston (like the passport guy) were caught by data matching.

I’m a little bemused to hear the screams from academics(!) and teachers about the ‘lack of detail’ as to how National’s language in primary schools policy will be implemented. Kaye’s explanation last night seemed reasonable – it has yet to be worked through as it is a future intention; funding wont be available until after Budget 18.
Yet these people are quite content to readily accept the Princess’s demand that we trust her because the detail of almost every policy so far announced will be worked out by ‘an expert committee’ once ‘we are in government’.
(Of course, any ‘expert group’ will be stacked with ‘experts’ of Labour’s choosing – the outcome in inevitable!)

I watched some old fashion rugby league the other night.

I only caught glimpses while doing something else but it went like this:

One team (usually the team in black) receiving the ball from a play-the-ball type restart (rucks and mauls are contestable so neither of those names apply), making one pass to a big bloke who then ran about a yard into an opponent and created another play-the-ball.

This would happen at least five or six times until they passed it to a fellow called Williams (in the team for light relief?) who invariably dropped it.

They then had a scrum and restarted the process all over again.

Exactly as I remember rugby league before they invented the six plays rule – including, strangely enough, the bloke called Williams.

I keep reading that there was a NZ v Oz rugby union test on at the time but no rugby union appeared on my TV.

  Not only do they have to pay more for unskilled labour but now the nurses are pissed off they are getting paid the same as people that make beds up.
  And are leaving in droves.

    Yes the unintended consequence of pay equity for care workers has meant that a number of rest homes have closed in the Wairarapa. The remaining rest homes are full and now more expensive than before.
    What people need to understand is the idea of freedom. That we have a free market so that people can agree on the price they will pay, for goods and services and wages.
    
    When you socialise something and say you must pay these workers this amount, then you get all sorts of unintended consequences. You get massive pay parity issues and the care for, in this case old people, gets much more expensive and indeed unaffordable for some.
    
    I’m beginning to think that social justice warriors ruin everything that they touch.

Guyon spouted his view on the world using “big” words to impress. “Neo Liberalism” was a failure. When Bill shot him down he cut him off and changed the subject.
It will be interesting to see the Ratio when they interview the Tooth Fairy.

I went with an elderly couple grocery shopping on the weekend. They live on the pension so have to watch their spending. When pointing out that product B was cheaper than the one they picked they stated that they choose the one they did because they could not open product B. This type of choice was made in regards to five other products.
Can’t open the jar, can’t get the tinfoil off and cant tear open the packaging. The other choice was because the amount of product that was unabled to be got from the product when it got low. Shape of the jar, unable to squeeze last bit out etc. They said packaging has about a 10% deliberate wastage due to the shape of the container so that you had to buy again sooner. Sort of things you dont realise when money is not tight.

      Opens cans n bottles, cuts foil seals, butters bread, cuts tape ,sharpens pencils, scribes lines, cuts tin ,levers out nails, shapes concrete. multi purpose BBQ tool , butcher pigs, opens shell fish. .,

Never seen Garner go so easy on someone as he did on Peters on the AM show when quizzing him on this. Richardson sat his in the corner, not a peep from him. Peter’s only response on the AM show was that Burr is a ‘junior reporter’. I’m not a fan of Burr but if Peter’s is having to resort to personalised insults he hasn’t got much to stand on.

Sainsbury on Radio live trying to defend Peters – with ‘at least he paid it back so it’s all ok’, ‘he doesn’t need the money’ etc etc.

The old DomPost, realising that their Labour party will need Peters have run an article on the Peters issue but haven’t opened it up for comments. Always a key indicator that they are running scared on an issue by not opening up the comments.

An LGBT activist who blew up a hired van outside the Australian Christian Lobby’s headquarters disliked its “position on sexuality”, according to reports.

Jaden Duong “drove a van up to a church, opened four cylinders of gas and lit a lighter” in an apparent suicide attempt, according to records released to the magistrate’s court where he is standing trial for arson and property damage.

Notes from Sydney’s Concord Hospital — which treated Duong following the blast — suggest “He is ‘not a huge fan’ of the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL), or religion in general, due to their beliefs and position on sexuality,” according to The Australian.

Asked why he chose the ACL headquarters — the ground floor of which was gutted — Duong is alleged to have replied: “Because I dislike the Australian Christian Lobby,” and, “Because religions are failed.”

However, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) police insisted the “car fire” was not motivated by religion, ideology, or politics.

“Based on information known by police at the time, which included a brief record of interview with the alleged offender where he stated to police his intention was to commit suicide by blowing himself up, police stated the actions of the individual were not politically, religiously or ideologically motivated,” said an official statement.

“This is still ACT Policing’s position.”

    It goes without saying that any terrorism is wrong, but it is telling the way liberals treat the perpetrators of violence if said terrorist’s thoughts are in line with liberal ideology. They seem very sympathetic and kind of dismiss the whole episode.

My husband is a bit of a socialist and can’t see the connection between drug abuse and suicude. Thank goodness he’s not blaming the Govt on behalf of every suicide victim. Heck, I discovered through Papers Past a relative who had cut his throat. Prob in the late 1800’s. My point is that suicide has always been around – just more do it these days.     Equal representation of the Goyim in Central Banking, Hollywood, Social Sciences, Advertising, The MSM so on and so forth.
    
    The end of debt based currencies issued by private banks.
    
    Also, either multiculturalism for Israel or Goyim countries be allowed to have the same immigration policies as Israel.

      Don’t tell me neo-Nazis are resurrecting social credit, a.k.a. Douglas credit.
      
      In the age of crypto-currencies – Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, etc – social credit is as quaint as the alchemists who tried to turn lead into gold.

Aussie in trouble.

500 jobs gone as major Ipswich employer the Churchill Abattoir closes.

Seven hundred and fifty employees have lost jobs as two major Ipswich employers announced it will shut down.

Churchill Abattoir has confirmed it will cease operations at a cost of 500 jobs. The last day of cattle slaughter will be Thursday, September 28.

Another 250 jobs will be lost when the Steggles chicken processing factory at Wulkuraka closes.

The Churchill Abattoir closure comes after months of rumours circling the struggling facility. Company director Barry Moule said cattle shortages and high prices had devastated the beef industry.
