They forever put the boot in a very Succesful National Government. Bias by both news outlets borders on sedition.     If Cinderella gets in with the Greens and Maori then the Unions will invoke their rules and Angry Andy will be back running things.
    The Union rules come in the day after the election and Cinderella was never endorsed by the Unions – only Robertson and Clark took the opportunity to shaft Angry during the Union constiution allowed 6 weeks before an election when Caucus could rule.

    The man is a twat. He stated on news hub this morning he had been out doing street corner meetings in his electorate. He is NOWHERE to be seen. I live in his electorate and regularly cover most of it in my daily driving habits and I have not seen him or is clapped out red transit van once. Conversely, Alfred Ngaro has been visible every second day at various major intersections. Twatford has some nerve thinking he can sleep walk to victory this time around. Waitakere man has done well over the last 9 years and many now have a lot more money and sense. Those who cannot afford to live in the west have mostly moved on or are concentrated in small, trailer-park like area’s. The guy is a political Mong and demonstrated this very clearly this morning with his BS “relentlessly positive” comment followed up by 30 seconds of calling National and Paula Bennett liars. Someone should tell Twatford a closed mouth attracts no feet!

  I thought Jacinda’s performance was bedda than in her previous debates. She had more detail to hand, and only resorted to ‘my vision’ when clearly she had no idea.
  
  The standout was Bill though. He’s grown in stature as this campaign has progressed. He rebutted better than in previous debates. Ditto interjections and having facts to hand … even if Hosking disliked them enough to thump the desk in faux exasperation.
  
  Bill is a safe pair of hands. While there’s plenty I can fault with National’s track record, they are head-and-shoulders ahead of the red/green cabal that proposes train-wreck policies.

    I was sorry for her last evening – she was getting desperate and her body language and shouting down English did her no service.
    Whereas English showed himself to be amongst other things Prime Ministerial to let her ride her impatience and bad temper and accuse him of lying effectively.

    Remember English and his Doctor wife have brought up six children so are used to letting children in a temper blow off.

    To be (reluctantly) fair, she has performed well. Those in this blog who claimed English would wipe the floor with her must, in their more lucid moments, concede she has exceeded expectations.
    When the smoke has cleared and (hopefully) National sets out for a fourth term, they will have to consider very carefully how to address this threat.

      To repeat something I posted a while back, if National forms a government they need to reflect on what was a near death experience, and make changes. There is no reason they can’t win a fifth and sixth term.
      
      There is some ‘refreshment’ required.
      
      But on the policy front they really need to address the house inflation problem and the evil twins of the RMA and out of control local government.
      
      They also need to tackle water. There are some real problems. But the good news is that there really are solutions that will be acceptable.
      
      There are many other issues but they would be my picks.
      
      Oh one more. They need to communicate about the gigantic resources that go to helping the less well off.

Awaking first thing this morning I check the photo stream to check on Beloved Daughter’s progress through the mean streets of New York, as I do every day.

The only way out is to let him have the nukes, wait for a quiet moment and take him out.   Read Richard Prebbles article, this election will be won by the small parties. It takes maybe . 120,000 extra party votes to get another list MP for National but only 31,000 to get an extra Act MP. (These are guestimates depending on the number of Electorate seats won.)
  National will need a support partner they can count on. Act is that party. Seymour will take Epsom so it is easier for Act to take in extra MP’s.
  I wouldn’t count on NZ first. And if Winnie doesn’t win Northland and fails to get 5% then there is definite trouble for National.

  She’s really channeling Clinton well. She’s lining up excuses:
  * Mean National attack-based campaign.
  * Concern that the early voting ballot boxes are insecure and open to tampering.
  
  What next: Russians? Greens? SIS?
  
  She doesn’t seem to get it. Just swapping around two MPs in the same party (and what would be the same cabinet) might give you a brief upsurge from 25% to 40%, but people soon figure out that nothing has really changes and you’d be back below 30% within a few weeks.

  We need to clear up one small detail. Cows don’t fart they belch. The gas emits out their front, not rear end.
  Having said that there is no reason why belching NZ cows should be taxed via the ETS when no other countries will. Our herd is tiny compared to Europe’s, America’ s and Asia’s.
  This move can only be interpreted as another gratuitous attack on rural NZ and won’t make a blind bit of difference until the rest of the world does so.

The Times of London, Tuesday Sep 19 has a front page article headlined ‘Climate change disaster can be averted, say experts’ and that ‘Scientists admit that the world is warming slower than predicted’.
Michael Grubb, Professor of international energy and climate change at University College London admitted that his past prediction had been wrong.
The study found that the group of computer models used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change had predicted a more rapid temperature increase than had taken place.

  The paper agrees global warming is happening.
  
  It only says we have a few more years to end our uncontrolled experiment in atmospheric physics on this planet.
  
  The data in the paper stopped in 2014 .
  2014 was a record hot year as was 2105 and 2016 making its conclusion obsolete.
  
  It also fails to account to the much referenced natural variability. Failing to account for this is often chucked at climte scientists by the loons on here.

    I had to go to Mangere airport yesterday, then find a rental car place for one of my daughters and grandson. As I went round a myriad of streets, a little bit lost, I thought;
    “with a heavy rail solution the value of commercial real estate in the immediate vicinity of the airport might drop. That is because a proper heavy rail link would get most people away from the airport environs and out in the wider community very quickly. Possibly airfreight distribution centres could be run from, say, Huapai and Te Kauwhata.”

    Southern, there isn’t one for several reasons:
    Politics;
    Cost;
    No true demand – controversial but true;
    NZTA removed the access path in Onehunga;
    Which group of travellers really wants to be dumped in downtown Auckland unless you have flown up from Wellington. Trust me long haul do not want to be dumped downtown & then have to find their way to where ever they are planning to go;
    NZ is too small to be able to pay for the Transport Blogs Oxymoron called The Congestion Free Network. Because you need a more extensive network if you put Heavy Rail to the Airport;
    Farebox recovery will be through the floor (as it already is and AT/ the farepayer, ratepayer & taxpayer) isn’t even paying for CRL yet
    
    Is that enough reasons why there is no plan for Heavy rail to the airport.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t

So the Herald has a hit job on MSD, about ~~rabid left wing nutters~~ beneficiary advocates representing potentially dangerous and vindictive beneficiaries who seek to go after MSD staff members when they don’t get an infinite amount of welfare.

Nutter handling-units
So it’s a common practice in social agencies when you have nutter clients (ie clients who are abusive, threatening, call 20x per day every day) to deal with them with a special remote nutter-handling unit. These nutter-handling units are set up with highly trained staff and are outside of the normal branch system – they are their to minimise the massive waste of taxpayer resource that can be incurred when dealing with someone who just wants to agitate in the hope that it’ll get them something extra that they’re not legally entitled to.

The danger from the nutters is real
The nutters handled by the nutter-handling units loathe it, because they’re not able to be as abusive and vindictive as they can be when they rant and rave in MSD branches. The key thing all the nutters want is to get personal at the poor people who deal, day in day out with the abusive, vicious nutters. Anyone remember the two poor middle-aged women who got murdered in Ashburton by that animal Russel John Tully. How many workers have to be worried about their dissatisfied customers arriving at their place of business intent on murdering them like public servants do? (Oh yes libtards – he was ‘lone wolf’ nutter).

Use of aliases
If KB readers worked in these sorts of places, wouldn’t you want your name and identity kept away from murdering psychos like Russell John Tully? Yes? Which is why the names of the staff in these nutter-handling units is hidden by the use of aliases. And they’re often fairly obvious aliases like “Rocky Road” or “John Doe” or “Bill Collector”.

The catch 22
So MSD are getting slapped around by the Privacy Commissioner for privacy breaches involving client names at the same time as the Social Security Appeals Authority for NOT breaching the privacy and giving out staff member names? Are staff members less entitled to privacy rights than clients? Isn’t the risk of murder or violence to a staff member or their family – not a good enough reason to use aliases.

Why having staff member names is so important
Because of the standard approach of the Left – rule 13 of “Rules for Radicals” by Saul Alinsky – the person that inspired Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s academic studies.

Rule 13 says …
“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

Go after people – they hurt faster! The fascism of the Left in the 21st Century!

So if Labour wants to have their version believed all they have to do is say we are going to borrow a lot more money to see us through and we can prove that our figures of surplus will be achieved the voter may have more faith. But for Sweet cheeks to try and cover up with no money to pay for essentials like wages and other necessary expenditures is going back to Labour thìnking the public are stupid and will never know like happened under the Clark Government.

Over at The Standard they are screaming and ranting about National “lying” for claiming Labour will raise income taxes.

Fact – If Labour wins, they are going to pass a law that means New Zealanders will pay more Income Tax from April 1 next year. If National wins (or, hypothetically, Labour won but didn’t pass this law) New Zealanders will pay less income tax.

Would any of KB’s resident left-wingers wish to dispute this?

Trying to draw some major distinction between cancelling a tax cut already on the books versus raising income taxes is quibbling over semantics. It is a difference that makes no difference. For National to call it “raising income taxes” is not inaccurate, and most definitely not lying. Spin, sure, but nowhere close to lying. It is a factually true statement that Labour are going to take an action that means people will pay more income tax.

  Cinderella has made it publically clear that she will introduce legislation asap to cancel that tax change.

The biggest lie they tell, and keep repeating, is that reversing legislated tax cuts (cuts supported by all parties except Labour) is not a tax increase. Their bias is appalling!

I’ve cast my votes.
I sick of hearing Biil & Jacinda on the TV on the airwaves, not to mention Hosking and that TV3 bloke.
On Saturday night the crowd I voted for may or may not win.
Either way unless expectations are pretty modest I expect the next government, particularly if it’s Labour led, will disappoint many of it’s supporters.
It’s always the way. The reality of governing soon dulls the sparkle of idealism.
Politicians are like bananas. They start off green and finish up bent and yellow.

Let’s hear it for our defence force, navy, Army etc., working round the clock to man Fuel tankers (Private not army) to ensure that fuel gets to Auckland.
Lets hear it for National, disasters strike you need a good hand on the tiller.
You certainly don’t need Labour , there is no way the army would have been allowed to drive private fuel tankers, the Unions would not allow that.
Do not forget how the Unions will come into play with a labour government.
Also Labour is not too keen on our defence force. The armed forces do a huge amount, think the earthquake, providing kitchens all sorts of emergency things. Think how they get into action when there is some issue in the Islands, hurricanes etc.,
So let’s hear it for our Armed forces, they step in and just get on with the job in hand.

  The biggest problem they are having is finding people to work there.
  Thre conditions are so bad and there is plenty of other work in the Wellington region that contractors have lots of other choice.
  This has resulted in a requirement to get a whole lot of Australian contractors over who have no idea how to work in such conditions – mud, wet, hilly, cold. Together with ludicrous H&S regulations to deal with.

It is a shame we were unable to attend a meeting at Oroua Downs where Lees-Galloway was given the message by farmers. Still, he had the balls to attend; gutless liar Parker backed out. Pity Lees-Galloway didn’t get the same treatment as Duncan Garner received when he made smart arse comments in a pub.
When are we going to hear Labour’s acceptance to Matthew-Wilson’s recommendations for rigorous drivers’ licence tests for over-65s? This was mooted in Stuff a year or so back, and has been agreed to by most of those who would form a government, if they get past the post.

Keeping Stock

I had a fantastic day yesterday accompanying the likely next MP for Whanganui around Waverley, Patea, Stratford, Eltham and Hawera yesterday. Our visit included a stop at Stratford Saleyards, where hundreds of head of beef cattle were being bought and sold, for good prices.

Over the course of the day we met three Labour voters, one of whom was most apologetic for having voted red early in the piece. Our candidate may have saved a couple of other voters from wasting a vote on NZ First. But in New Zealand’s rural heartland, the anti-Labour sentiment is the strongest I have ever seen it.

The Reid Research poll tonight will be interesting. I am expecting a similar result to last week, and for Bill English to be able to form a government after Saturday night.

  Strong? Hell, it’s white-hot hatred where I am. There are actually farmers who’ve voted Labour in the past, especially in 1999, who appear to have finally had the blinders really drop.
  
  What I mean by that is that having voted Labour in the past (or Green – that happens too), they’ve finally seen them for what they are – people who secretly (and sometimes not so secretly) hate their guts, and for more than just “dirty rivers”.
  
  I don’t know what to credit this to, but from discussions I do wonder if Internet sites, especially Facebook, have had an impact, in that those places have revealed what their distant relatives and others in the cities (all created by Zuckerberg’s need to build ever-expanding social networks) really think on many Lefty issues. The result has been both a quiet horror and a backlashing anger.
  
  I’ve seen the same with my wife, virulent loather of Trump forever, she has not changed her mind on the man – but the insane level of Trump/GOP/Christian hatred that she has seen every day on her Facebook page, much of it from people she’s known for decades, has been a hell of an eye-opener for her.
  
  Yay for the Internet and free speech – especially in that it has allowed Lefties to really tell you what they think of you.

Time for NZ English Language month?

I occasionally listen to RNZ in the car. This morning I heard the ear-jarring incorrect use of “her” instead of “she”. Something along the lines of:
“Her and her sister were blah blah blah”.

It was not a once off either, he repeated this error a few times during the segment.

Now I know my grammar and English use is far from perfect, but professionals in the top radio station in the country should be able to get this stuff right.

The caregiver this morning tells me she has voted National because “I am better off with Bill English”.
Despite the media painting Bill as boring I suspect there are a lot of voters who understand the work he has done to build our economy and want it to continue.
Jacinda is too untested, too inexperienced, too vacuous and I think perhaps too frail. And, if clothes aren’t the issue, why the totally different outfit, makeup and hair do last night from the previous debate? I wish Mike had asked her.

What has become apparent from watching the election campaigns is, we have to hope, the triumph of fact over fiction.

Bill English is running a government which has seen NZ through the GFC, earthquakes, et al. and the country is doing well, certainly in an international context. For all the wailing about the poor etc. people are coping in the vast majority as well.

Ardern, by comparison, has never ‘run’ anything meaningful at all – not a business, not even a home (and by all accounts can’t cope with the washing), not a job outside of the political sphere.

Whether anyone loves them or not, the National government has Ministers who are doing their job. Labour et al are a motley collection of activists who can’t get their story straight at any given time, many of whom are in conflict with each other. Kelvin Davis embarasses himself and his party every time he opens his mouth. The debate I watched between he and Paula Bennet was typical – Paula didn’t have to wipe the floor with him; he bleated weakly an unheard mantra. Hipkins almost managed to create an international incident. The Greens have policies in open contradiction to Labour. And who can forget Turei?

I’m utterly sick of watching Ardern’s tirades about how much she ‘cares’ and her ‘visions and aspirations’. None of that pays any bills. It’s pure ideology and they know it – they will need a proliferation of ‘experts’ to tell them what to do because they haven’t got a clue. Watching Q&A and The Nation has been an education. Not only have a sequence of socialists like Sue Bradford candidly stated that Labour have no real policy and are mouthing empty slogans, but after a sequence on foreign trade, Fran O’Sullivan forgot all tact when asked what she thought of Ardern’s comments and ‘stream of consciousness’ commented “She hasn’t got a clue” – which is true of all of it.

Labour have tried to cruise to power on the basis of Ardern’s image of a ‘pretty’ Pied Piper of the undiscerning young and female. Despite being 37, which is as much of crock of ‘youth’ as anything, it’s all ‘suffragetish’ – but those women who were suffragettes were infinitely more practical and capable than Ardern could even imagine. Do NZ women really aspire to be empty political idealogues who look good and smile a lot but don’t know how to sort colours in their washing? Let alone want to give birth and drag their children to work, breastfeeding them on site and in public?

Like it or not, high Auckland house prices has probably done more for ‘regional development’ than any policy in recent decades. Cheap Auckland housing will bring people flooding in from everywhere to take advantage of it. And, as Stephen Joyce says, who wouldn’t buy a ‘home’ for $400,000 and flick it at the earliest opportunity for $700,000 – none of which would be subject to CGT?

The only things Labour et al are unequivocal about are, like the old adage, death and taxes: the former to proliferate abortion and euthanasia, and the latter wherever they feel like it after their ‘experts’ advise them – with the water tax, road tax, and fart tax to be going on with. In reality, should they get into government, they will apply all the worst parts of National plus making life a whole lot harder for a lot more people from the tax, flow-on costs and unwanted and careless ideology, accompanied by spiralling national debt.

I hope the tide is turning to National, whether or not I like everything they do and they need to do better – because they do, at least, know what they’re doing, have a deep understanding of latent as well overt functions of policy, and have demonstrated genuine, practical care of the country and its people.

RNZ: Mongrel Mob have received a personal visit from 2 Electoral commission staff encouraging them to vote. I didn’t receive a personal onsite visit of electoral commission staff at my workplace encouraging me to vote. Does it skew the vote when certain organisations are cherry picked to have staff coming with your enrolment form and getting you to vote. Of course it does.
Why aren’t other groups , maybe young building apprentices, getting personalised visits with the enrolment forms bought to them and staff to help them fill out the form and no doubt post it for them. They just need to have a system that is fair and consistent , and it’s not.

  I had to get in my car and go to a polling booth. I used my petrol, my time etc., and glad to do so.
  What has the Mongrel Mob done to deserve to be singled out for special attention.
  If they are too lazy to get on their bikes and go to a polling booth then ignore them.
  If they are not enrolled charge and fine them. That is the law. The law does not state that they should be treated with kid gloves and personally assisted.
  Of course to enrol you do need a “fixed abode” so that the enrolment confirmation can get to you. this is taking nanny state way too far. They do not deserve a vote, they are takers and create victims in their path with no thought but their own self.

This morning on TV3 breakfast show the media finally put a spotlight on Liarbors proposed industrial relations after the election. An employment lawyer was interviewed and showed serious concern. She was an employment lawyer during the longest strike in NZ history of 87 days and stated going back to those conditions were extremely concerning for the country.

Duncan Garner stated perhaps the media were remiss in not covering these policies until 2 days out from the election.

        A report on Livingstone and his terrible murder of his children can be reached at the link below.
        
        Everyone was looking for someone to blame, but finally the evidence is that Livingstone was evil – a psychopath and a narcissist.
        
        It would have been hard to stop him legally, though perhaps the gun owner could have been more careful about the key to his gun safe.
        
        As Nookin implies, Livingstone is a good case for strong protection of separated women and their children.
        
        The report talks of teams to monitor such people. That would surely choke the health system. If Livingstone’s estranged wife had been able to have a compact little .32 Magnum revolver or similar, the kids might have been alive and Livingstone dead or, recovered, safely stowed away in prison.

        While there are more than a few men & women who need to be kept apart for their own sakes I don’t accept that other than a minuscule fraction of separated or divorced men are in any way a risk to their own children.
        
        Someone has to make the call & family court judges step up to make the decisions. Their overbearing caution, however, means that many kids grow up without seeing their fathers all due to the uncorroborated, blubby, orchestrated evidence of a woman who hates her former partner.

Is the foreign-student business about to dry up? This is big bucks for NZ universities and the swathe of shaky private institutions.

The Australian report linked to below says a foreign degree is no longer regarded as a “golden collar” in China. Chinese employers are refocusing on Chinese universities and many students returning from overseas studies find it hard to get work.

If this report is accurate, the response of NZ universities and the private training institutions will likely be to fight hard for citizenship to be given away with their courses.

I caught part of a broadcast from Jamie McKay at noon today. This is the ZB Rural programme.

He was interviewing someone from the farming community who pointed out that farmers are very concerned about the anti rural publicity and many are holding off committing purchasing more farm machinary and upgrading their farms etc…

It was throwing the problem back in Labours face and I hope like hell this results in votes for National.

I know a few farmers who historically never bothered to vote but now they are so concerned they will so I hope this balances out the youth vote that Ardern is chasing.

Exciting times ahead. Roll on Saturday.
