      Gays frequently call each other poofs and queers and all sorts of other terms for which a straight person would be labelled ‘homophobic’. The same phenomenon exists with Pacific Islanders and Afro- Americans. Go have a look at the facebook sites of PIs and you will see them frequently calling each other ‘niggah’ and worse. What a complete doofus. I don’t think I’ve seen such an awful performance by a Deputy Leader. It’s embarrassing to watch.

The other great thing about it is Paula Bennett’s reaction. It actually looks like Kelvin has farted, her discomfiture is that clear.

Worst thing is, Paula didn’t tear him apart. She should have absolutely roasted him.

Next debate – Paula V Jacinda. This would win National the election.

Or, promise to drop fuel excise. The reaction would be the same as free tertiary. Craven, but effective.

Davis is like many teachers, a big man in his classroom full of uninformed brains but a pathetic wincing rag outside of it. I think this week will be the time to see whether the government can deflate the duplicitous Jacinda and her “we’ll tell you about it after the election” nonsense. The attitiude of Labour with Jacinda has to be the most pompous and callous stance ever adopted by any political party in NZ. Why would anyone with a small fraction of comprehension trust her and her ilk? It sure as hell beats me!

If National actually turn up to contest this election they might like to turn their attention to the water tax. If a farmers costs are increased then his profit will be lower so he will pay less tax so by the time Iwi have clipped the ticket and the government pays 1000s of people to check water meters there will be less money for cleaning waterways.

  Bill pulled her up on it but her only response was to look like a possum in the headlights, before the next question was asked.
  
  National are not introducing a tax but have instead been working with farmers and regional councils on riperian planting, etc to improve waterway health.

  I’m not any high level manager but I would have though that generally when you have a problem, you find a solution, cost the solution, and then raise the funds.
  Labour have taken an arse-about-face approach in that they have started with raising the funds well before they have even designed a solution. Let alone costed it.
  They say they would spend the tax on hiring the unemployed to fence the waterways. They really have no idea how many unemployed they’ll need, how long they’ll need them for, and how many posts, wire rolls or staples they are going to need.
  But they have assured us they will be basing the rate, not on what is needed to fix the problem, but on what they see as fair, so as not to make farmers and irrigators unprofitable. It’s a very slippery slope when we allow the government to tell us how much profit we can make from our business.
  There is also no time limit on the tax so they either see this problem lasting infinitely or it’s nothing more than a punitive/envy tax. And it’ll be here to stay.
  
  Also from their web site “Labour will work with iwi to resolve Treaty water claims in a manner that respects iwi’s mana, and restores the mauri of our rivers and lakes.” Can someone at the next debate ask the thoroughly transparent Taxcinda exactly what this means?

    Farmers aren’t going to want a pack of unemployed wandering their farms dropping fencing staples and generally making a nuisance of themselves. How many unemployed know about farm safety, etc. More likely it having unemployed in farm PEP schemes will be as successful as they have always been. Utterly useless.
    Besides, most farmers are already undertaking planting and fencing of waterways themselves.

        Drive to the farm. Don’t make me laugh, they will all be collected from their individual homes in a taxpayer paid van with a taxpayer paid driver who will supply ‘the workers’ with sunhats, polaroid sunnies, vegetarian filled rolls, an apple and as much bottled water as they can drink. It gets awfully hot out there on the farm when you are loafing about, and scouting for good dope growing spots.

    Most water ways have been fenced by farmers already.
    
    The water tax is simply a stick to beat non Labour voters with pure and simple.
    
    And there will be significant incentive for farmers to bypass water meters etc.

  It’s the Canterbury tax ($40million out of$60million national total will come from Canterbury irrigators, a region with clean rivers (outside of the urban centre Christchurch).
  
  Perhaps we need to create some additional targeted taxes in labour strongholds – like beard taxes, retail latte taxes, chardonnay taxes, organic food tax, civil servant, journalist, teacher and medical professional taxes.

Just 21 more days to our General Election. With the joined at the hip Lie-bour/Green cabal attempting to pull off the biggest electoral con job ever visited on NZ voters.It is all about getting voters to vote blindly on their smogasboard of tax gouging policies. One of the taxes to be introduced is an Inheritance Tax,better known as a” Dead Granny Tax”.
The controversial tax plan, after the election is so secret,that the Helen Clark lookalike,she who must be obeyed Ardern,virtually clobberd her shadow deputy Kelvin Davis ,for even mentioning the Capital Gains Tax. Seems the Maori MP,and an ex school teacher, could not be trusted with the Lie-bour/Green Cabals deceitful dirty litle secret of a “Dead Granny Tax”,to be introduced after the election,should they be able to con and mislead the voters,to vote for them.

  What this election shows once again is the importance of the leader. Labour was very low in the polls with Andy. They changed to Jacinda and suddenly they are heading for government.
  National were cruising to another term under John Key.
  He left and in came Bill.
  As predicted by me- Bill just hasn’t got it. Bill is a nice fellow but has not got the killer instinct or the charisma to be PM.
  
  The leader change has made all the difference.

    Not necessarily, National was cruising to another term under Bill English too.
    
    What changed was Turei’s fraud admission initially boosting the Greens which dragged Labour down causing collateral damage to Andrew Little, once he stepped down and anointed Jacinda the media went into a “Jacinda mania” frenzy and knifed Turei, to the added benefit of Labour’s poll popularity. I doubt whether National being led by any of the other leadership contenders instead (Collins or Coleman) would have been able to do any better than English under these very “unusual” circumstances. Remember Ardern is still in that media honeymoon period.
    
    Despite this I would even conclude that English at least has media credibility which is important in this “unusual” situation in the face-off with Ardern i.e. he is respected for his achievements in office and that still carries weight in media reporting on the election. Unlike Collins or even Coleman.

      He gives the impression of feeling destined to be the future Leader. But at this stage his public persona and his policy reasoning remain rather shallow, superficial and dismissive.     They have sold the house to repay her. That’s one landlord out of the business of providing a house to one of “our most vulnerable citizens”.

      The fucking tenant was sub letting . What had the tribunal to say about that? The landlord got a certificate ,which said the work was “excellent” but that was dismissed , as was an application for a rehearing.
      
      Something very wrong with the whole process.

        The proximate cause is the un-consented works, whether or not they are ‘excellent’ in some builders opinion. The tenant subletting doesn’t reverse that.
        
        He should have got a lim report and advice from his solicitor between offer and settlement. Same as every other person who buys a property.
        
        I have absolutely 0% sympathy for fools and I’m surprised you seem to think that the laws of this country should somehow be changed to protect this guy from his own stupidity.

I’m rather concerned about the actual moment when Jacinda Ardern knew she would be stepping into the Leader’s shoes. She said on the debate the other night that she only had one hour’s notice that she would become Leader and that was on the actual day when Andrew Little resigned. I’m of the opinion that she told a porkie on national television. Then, on the other hand, we have Kelvin Davis who says he got a phone call at 4 a.m on the day of AL’s resignation to get to Wellington. So, Jacina only gets told 1 hour prior to AL’s resignation but Kelvin gets a call earlier than that and if you want specifics then that would be 5 hours before Jacinda’s in the loop. Then I’ve also read and I’ve been trying to find the link -an interview with someone – that Jacinda and her mates were in a Mt Albert cafe drinking tea the day before – don’t have specific time here – when she got the call so she got up and left the cafe and had to go home. Hey Jacinda, you’re being very, very ‘untransparent’ about this. I’m confused, as you’ve given two very different scenarios here. You need to differentiate between fact and fiction. Your ‘transparency’ tag line is, in fact, bullshit. Discuss…..

  This has been at least three to six months in the planning, the signs, the the strategies, the marketing, this stuff doesn’t just appear over night, there has been a serious amount of work go into this, one hour my arse.
  
  The timing was perfect, she takes over just as Parliament finishes so she won’t come under any real scrutiny, her partner’s media mates and connections then swing in behind her and promote her for all it’s worth.

    Very smooth transition indeed. In fact, too smooth. I read an interview by Mark Sainsbury with her last week. He put the question to her about rumours swirling around re her health. She says she’s only been hospitalised with Quinsy. Anxiety didn’t get a mention. He’s too chicken to push further and ask if, in fact, she’s been hospitalised with anxiety on 3 separate occasions as is the word out there.

        A melt down is pending. As mentioned before there have been bed times spent in hospital for anxiety or problems like that. The tell-tale sign during the debate was her eye lids. Compare earlier still pictures with those on the night and it is very plane for anybody who has dealt with heavily medicated people.
        Added to which Hosking did a lousy job of the debate and let her off with that glib line of 1 hours notice. A classic fob off and irrelevant after time to prepare. Lets give her a chance to recuperate without any pressure. Tick Two 4 Blue.

    Brett – Actually you are right on the money and onto something here.
    
    People like Mike Munro (H1’s former spin doctor) just don’t turn up out of the blue and are appointed pretty much at the same time as Jacinda steps up to the leadership. And then all that money rolls in within hours???
    
    So yes there appears to have been an underground campaign underway for some time prior (no doubt involving the usual suspects H1, H2, Munro, Grant Robertson etc).
    
    These people knew that under those recent (2014?) Labour leadership challenge rules which involved extensive consultation with the Labour membership and unions, that they couldn’t touch Andrew Little until that (what was it) two month period (?) prior to an election is reached and then the Labour MP’s have absolute control over who is appointed leader.
    
    So those cunning bastards (that’s a compliment not insult)! Again Grant Roberston is undoubtedly in the think of it and has assisted with the dispatching of another Labour leader (Little)! It’s almost as if him and Team Clark have remained totally connected all these years H1 was away! 😉
    
    Still, despite the euphoria of Jacindamania seeing Labour achieving new highs … hmmm what do Labour’s base and activists really think about that? That their so called “democratising” of the Labour leadership process in 2014, has in fact been undone by a silent but deadly coup …. 🙁

      I believe this was set up and put to Little and Ardern about a month back, Ardern takes the leadership and plays the acting role of her life, she only has to last until Christmas which is about all she could mentally handle, then steps aside where Andrew Little takes back the leadership role which he temporarily vacated for the more photogenic and populist Ardern.

    Remember when the Nats got 21%? All that other support they have been carrying for the last 9 years votes on personality and feels, as does the majority of Labour’s support, their core is even lower at about 15%.
    All those soft voters would have no idea what you are talking about, and even if some of them nod and grin along with you they’ll do the same to the next guy that disagrees with you.

      Sorry, krazykiwi, but a leader with all those attributes but lacking personality/charisma/popular appeal/whatever doesn’t carry the votes the same way. Like it or not, those characteristics can be important in democracies, so “yes”, I think National was helped in a similar way. We may agree to disagree.

      I’m not doing a direct comparison between Ardern to Key. But to me, it seems obvious that the “personal appeal” of a leader can be an important asset for a political party. It was for National with Key as leader. It “cracks me up” when people seem dumbfounded that it might work for other parties as well.
      (Add: By all means quibble about the size of the effect, but to dismiss it completely seems very odd)

        What’s Labour got? Maybe Mallard and Parker at a stretch.
        
        All of English, Joyce, Collins, Bennet, Adams are streets ahead of them. Brownlee is a tier down from that and even he has more than anything Labour can offer.

        To borrow the old boxing parlance, “styles make fights”. Would be a much different dynamic if National had a woman leader such as, say, Bennett, Collins, Tolley, or maybe by 2020 Adams or Kaye.
        
        Mind you three years of Saccharine Cindy’s “relentless positivity” Pollyanna/serious face shtick, especially in the face of an international economic downturn and a lack of specifics in how to deal with it could well leave the country looking for an assured pair of hands. Image and style in advertising, business, sports and politics only works as long as it is not too far divorced from reality.   Most people don’t watch TV or read news. If I recall correctly only ~3% of population watched leader debate on TV. So hoi polloi of NZ are not being informed on anything to do with election or policies because they just don’t care. They are at best hearing a few soundbites on radio and perhaps a little opining from interested acquaintances.
  
  It is in many ways a sign of how good times are when politics is judged by most to be so irrelevant to their prosperity.

    I cannot dispute the 3% number; if it was 3% of the population, that is a scarey uninterested portion of the population that is not really that interested in the direction we, as a country, are headed.
    
    If it is 3% of those eligible to vote, this is a greater concern and if it is 3% of those registered to vote, it is a fucking disaster.

You now have such a rich resource of dreamy policies from Labour it would be good to see something a bit better than the rubbish running ad which is an update from the last election…and rubbish.

Gayford said the first he heard about it was some hours after the appointment because he was underwater and away from cell coverage. This is on the record in print.

She must have given him a heads up, who would make a decision like that without telling their partner? I suspect she told him it was on, and messaged after the event to confirm.

She must have had notice.

Can we have a journalist put these questions to her?

  I’m trying to find the link – it would well have been a Woman’s rag story. But I noted the two different stories. In the interview I’m referring to it all seemed very chatty. Told the interviewer how her girlfriends did her washing blah blah blah. Definitely mentions being in a Mt Albert cafe with her friends sipping tea, gets a call so has to head off home.   Indeed, the parents in that part of the story will have to change the attitudes of their children because unless said children achieve at High school they won’t be going to University and getting that free education promised by labour.
  So pipe dreams because not only do the children’s attitude have to change that would start with the parent’s attitudes changing and the average freezing worker gets their pay and spends it on booze and other substances, worrying about their children and what they are doing has never been a great feature of their lives.
  Shoot me down in flames for making such a statement but there is a huge amount of truth in it.
  So actually National’s promise of a tax cut will give them far more than labour’s free tertiary will ever give them.

Why is labour trying to build small 2 bedroom houses for the homeless. They all have at least 6 kids and sharing a bedroom creates instant poverty. we have been told this often enough.
They are not thinking straight. Hostels would be a better built. More value for buck with communal kitchens.

  He hasn’t held the the balance of power since the 1999 election when NZ1st lost the majority of it’s seats after propping up the National administration in the previous parliament.

        Kids don’t usually get a choice if they are raised in religious households.
        
        If they at a later date break away from that religion/belief, then there’s no need to still describe them as adherents.

        At least public servants are now promoted (in theory) on ability. Not so long ago it was promotion based on seniority, so a complete dipstick could become boss of the office over a talented worker. I remember when my son started work in the old Post Office straight out of school. Keen as he was, the first day a supervisor pulled him aside and remarked he was working a little hard and to tone it down a bit. Needless to say he lasted about 3 months before finding a job that suited his skills.

It’ll all suck for us expats with strong ties back home if it goes red. We’ll get shafted by the Capital Gains tax on our investment properties; for which the value of, or income stream from is legitimately intended to prop our retirement years up.
(So we’re screwed, or our estate is) and we won’t even be able to travel back to catch whitebait seeing as the Greens have insisted on them being designated being a newly protected species. Fucking joykillers if that was the case. I’m old enough to remember getting up before dawn to head down to the river mouth; building a race and a bonfire while Dad netted whitebait and we made fritters that night and flogged off the excess to the locals. I want my kids to have that fishing experience.
Nice sideline back in the day.

It’s called making a living off the land instead of off the State.

  I can see the investment property owners selling up and getting a better return from the increase in returns even on Bank Deposits which will reflect increases in Mortgage rates.
  A friend has already put two retirement investment houses (good quality rentals) on the market, as the market is still quite buoyant, so he is cashed up to take advantage of other investments.
  The tenants have been given notice – nine people in all, having to find new accommodation.

Let’s start from the end: Even if the Palestinians had a single, united, respected leadership that had a reputation for integrity, and even if its members excelled intellectually, were committed to their people and strategically capable, it would have been difficult for it to challenge the dispossessive/acquisitive enterprise that Israel keeps strengthening and enhancing. Difficult, but possible.

There is no single leadership, however, but several, and they are squabbling with each other even when they are from the same party (Fatah), organization (PLO) or institutional umbrella (two governments). It’s not because of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, but because of a system and modus operandi, of which he is one of the creators and products at the same time.

The Palestinian public’s attitude toward the leadership is characterized by suspicion, disdain and contempt, along with fear. The milder accusations directed at the leadership in Ramallah speak of a lack of organization, inefficiency and laziness. The more serious accusations are of corruption and clinging to power for personal and sectarian motives. Similar accusations are somewhat less bluntly leveled at the Gazan government and at NGOs.

For many it’s clear that the Oslo framework, which expired in 1999, was a trap. The countries donating to the Palestinians continue to uphold it for fear of an even greater humanitarian disaster and loss of control, and because they are boundlessly loyal to Israel. The donations have decreased but remain a trap. They require obedience and maintenance of “calm,” or permit only low-intensity rage. But the Palestinians are captives who are convinced they could not manage without their donating captors.

The head spins and the heart aches, because facing them is a sophisticated, wicked, effective enemy who has no borders.

Visually, the image of an octopus might be appropriate, but there are two problems with using it to depict the Israeli regime. One is that it recalls anti-Semitic caricatures, but that’s the problem of a regime that imitates caricatures. The second is that Israel sends out far more than eight tentacles as it cooks up a mix of several traditions of domination – military occupation, colonialism (the removal of a people from its homeland to settle others there instead) and apartheid (since the expulsion wasn’t totally successful, there followed separation based on inequality). It should be clear that this refers to the situation on both sides of the Green Line. Israel was given a chance to change in 1993. It chose to miss it.

A better image would be that of a computer that spews out commands in every direction. Once programmed, it doesn’t stop. It sends official armed gangs to burst into people’s houses as they sleep and to confiscate money and property; destruction squads to crush kindergartens, homes and wells; and unofficial armed gangs to boot out shepherds and farmers. It also employs land thieves – the clerks, planners, architects and building contractors – who make sure that the Palestinians suffocate in their built-up areas. The space is all for Jews, says the supreme command. The computer also issues intellectual commands: Ignore everything by indulging in the depths of Jewish heritage. Nullify everything as unimportant through pride in our nation, which produces Nobel laureates. Declaim our suffering and heroism in Auschwitz.

Against the efficient and complex Israeli apparatuses stand the Palestinians with a host of competing leaders, conflicting strategies, uncoordinated government ministries, information that isn’t public knowledge and is not accurate, the tiresome duplication of institutions whose work overlaps, the empty slogans and despair. One expression of this despair is the declaration that Israel is the strong one, therefore change can and must come only from Israel. But no; Israelis have no interest in changing the situation. We benefit from it. The initial change can and must come from the Palestinians themselves, in their own home.

The Palestinians are Palestinians, not Egyptians nor Saudis, and when your weapons are suicide vests and rocks and the propaganda victory of creating martyrs, I’m doubtful outsiders hold the key. A measure of influence? Yeah, sure, but it only look a few thousand hot heads in Northern Ireland to fan a conflict lasting 30 years…

        My money is on it’s their primary strategy, so any appeal for “time” with no corresponding stop and rollback on settlements (if they even can be rolled back!) is a cynical ploy to effect it.
        
        But annexation is not an exit strategy. The Israelis will then have millions of Palestinians, many hostile and resentful within their borders, or as neighboring economically and political nonviable Bantustans. Do they have citizenship? They can’t give them that as it changes the dynamics and voting and balance of power.
        
        I realise in the current arrangements, calling Israel an “apartheid state” is overblown rhetoric…but your (or more exactly , Netanyahu’s) “solution” sets up the conditions for one. And as Hendrik Verwoerd and South Africa found in the years following 1961. that is no exit strategy…if the other side will not lay down their arms.

        Not often I agree with you, at least in part.
        
        I’m reminded, as I’ve posted a number of times, of Richard Nixon’s words to Golda Meir after she visited the White House a few months after his airlift pulled Israel’s arse out of a sling during the 1973 Yom Kippur War (and he was giving her advice he had learned from ending the Vietnam War) – “when you are strong, you can actually be weak, because, if your enemy will not surrender, you have no exit strategy”.
        
        The thing that both sides need to end the conflict, and the article rightly pinpoints it is….good Palestinian leadership that is prepared to negotiate, and can make any peace agreement stick. And the article is right in that Israel cannot do that for Palestine, or at least not directly.
        
        But as with any conflict, be it international, domestic, in the work place, in a marriage or friendship, you can only control that that which you can control – yourself. So if Israel wants reasonable Palestinian leadership….it has to do what it can to be reasonable…and hope their enemy at some point reciprocates. Continued annexation and settlement of the occupied West Bank is not it. It may not be the “main impediment” to peace, but that is a pointless argument designed to give the likes of Netanyahu more time to annex even more land! West Bank settlement is a factor, and something that Israel can change. And it does not affect their security. They still have the right to occupy the West Bank indefinitely until such time as reasonable Palestinian leadership may arise…and negotiate a settlement.
        
        What’s the alternative? More importantly, where’s an alternative exit strategy for Israel?! Continued occupation squeezes the Palestinian inhabitants even more. They aren’t going to disappear. Like Nixon said, “when you are strong, you can actually be weak…”

        Yes and no.
        
        But then I think Zionist cynicism goes back a long time, to pre-1948 – as it did in NZ in the 1860s, and a whole host of other countries. Doesn’t make Israel worse or better, although given post-World War II dynamics and expectations and international law, it still makes it a likely place for World War III to break out at some point – so I think we all have skin in the game in some way or other. NZ’s decision to vote in 1947 for a two-state solution, and our consistent policy to that effect ever since sure does.
        
        But Israel’s history up to this point is water under the bridge now, and you can’t undo history, just try and deal best with what it has dealt you. Speaking of which…
        
        Bear in mind the withdraw from Gaza was not negotiated – it was more a decision to bug out with no expectation of corresponding good will – and none was given! So both sides looked for propaganda victories in the on-going conflict.
        
        Also, given that Israel already has all the security it needs by continuing to occupy but not settle the West Bank, I’d suggest it calls into question their good faith about being willing to negotiate. So as “bad” as the other side is, if “bad faith” is your perpetual default position, you have responsibility for the on-going conflict. And therein lies the problem, as continuing to fight is no exit strategy for Israel. But then maybe Bibi is determined not to share the same fate as Yitzhak Rabin.

Communism is a set of policies which include, among other things, the dictatorship of the Proletariat and State control over the entire economy. Dear Jacinda,

Like many New Zealanders I’m overwhelmed by your warm, friendly, style, boundless enthusiasm, debating skills and positivity.

However, I hope and pray that if you succeed in your attempt to become Prime Minister of New Zealand in the forthcoming elections you will not use your power to crush Invercargill.

My job is to protect the interests of our city.

In 1993 when I was first elected as Invercargill’s Mayor, we were the fastest declining city in New Zealand or Australia.

Then thanks to Penny Simmonds, her senior staff and board members, the Southern Institute of Technology introduced a brilliant Zero Fee Scheme.

This meant for example if you graduated as a nurse, you saved $15,000.

As a result we attracted students from all over New Zealand and our student roll increased from 1400 students to almost 3600 students.

By the 2013 census our population had increased by 2.7 per cent.

The Zero Fee Scheme cost $7.25 million to establish and promote and was courageously supported by the Invercargill City Council, our two community trusts, local businesses and SIT itself.

Now the Labour Party policy is to introduce a Zero Fee type scheme throughout New Zealand that will be completely funded by the state.

Labour’s plans will totally undermine Invercargill’s marketing edge and our innovative point of difference.

However, Southlanders are resilient and we are presently considering a scheme of rent free accommodation for tertiary students.

Obviously, unlike other institutions, we won’t require support for Zero Fees, as we’ve already achieved that objective.

This letter is a request to Central Government to support our extensive construction program so that we can offer students free accommodation.

That will help us maintain our student numbers and take a little pressure off the housing crisis in our larger cities.

Recently SIT have spent $13 million on student apartments and have also built 60 transportable family homes.

I believe Central Government should match that dollar for dollar.

You followed our concept of dramatically reducing the costs of gaining a tertiary qualification and we don’t object to that.

After all imitation is the highest form of flattery.

I’m sure you will consider it only fair to help us take the next step forward with an initiative for rent free tertiary education.

  This is a strong exporting region, and Southlanders’ increased tax under Labour would help finance tens of thousands of Aucklanders study for subjects that there won’t be a snowball’s show in hell of getting jobs in.
  
  Our politicians are shallow. NZ’s GDP per capita is falling and it won’t be long before we have been running up balance of payments deficits for 50 years. What are politicians doing about restricting population inflow or restructuring the economy towards exports – or both of these? The answer, of course, is bugger all.
  
  Politicians seem intent on loading more and more people into the leaky economic boat, and providing housing so they will happily settle in Auckland, which is the main economic problem. The city consumes most of NZ’s imports and contributes only a relatively tiny share of NZ’s exports.

Mother finds baby’s coffin empty

Mother finds baby’s coffin empty after 42 year battle to discover what happened to her son. Lydia Reid’s 42-year quest looked to have come to a conclusion when a court granted her an order for an exhumation.

Ms Reid had been a leading member of a campaign to reveal the extent to which Scottish hospitals used dead children’s body parts for research.

In 2001 an official report in England found that 104,300 organs, foetuses and body parts were in storage, the majority at 25 hospitals.

Ms Reid feared that the same thing had happened to her son, Gary, who was only seven days old when he died at Edinburgh’s Sick Kids hospital in July 1975.

Following the court order and exhumation was carried out by Professor Dame Sue Black, an eminent forensic anthropologist.

She concluded that the coffin had been buried without human remains, the BBC reported.

In reality she was resisting arrest. She should have been shot in the face.

If a blood sample is taken illegally then it is not admissible as evidence.

  I watched the video, Kea, and she was simply pointing out that the hospital and the local police had agreed a protocol governing when a blood sample could be taken from a patient who is under arrest. She was trying to get the hospital to explain the situation to the cop because he clearly couldn’t understand words of more than two syllables.
  
  The cop was being extremely stupid and utterly unreasonable.
  
  And it should be noted that she was released from arrest within 20 minutes.
  
  I hope she sues for wrongful arrest.

In my view, Bill English has a very easy strategy for turning things around.

He should simply declare that he suspects Winston Peters outed himself on the Super over payment to get some media oxygen and further declare that in light of the hit job on National, he will refuse to deal with NZF post election if in a position to do so.

All the soft vote which drifted to NZF but would not like a Labour government will then have to reconsider its position.

    Yep Team Helen is back, so it’s not inconceivable that they arranged the hit jobs on both Winston and Metiria for exactly the reason you stated – can’t have them too strong – as Labour was diving into the low 20’s bleeding support to both NZF and Greens. So that has now been reversed with Labour regaining their support again at both NZF/Greens expense.
    
    Ask the question. Cui Bono? The Labour Party!

MMP is a dog which has allowed small parties a disproportionate power in choosing the make up of Parliament. It has although the side effect of destroying those minor parties who enter into coalition agreements.

Winston will grant confidence & supply to either National or Labour but all the chat about baubles & ministerial posts is hot air. He will demand conditions that will gag any suitors but he is far too intelligent to get bogged down in the day to day running of the country.

Anything & everything will be negotiable.
