However maybe its a cunning plan. Consider China and Russia have just signed a treaty to further their relationships.
Maybe Winnie thinking if we dont piss off Putin then we dont piss of China so our FTA with China doesnt suffer.
Whilst the western countries will be going ballistic behind the scenes at MFAT and our embassies in public there will be no adverse comment from other countries to ensure they dont give the picture of a rift with a traditional ally.

So NZ looks to take an independent stand signalling to its western partners we aint a foot stool and lets China and Russia know we are open for business.

Not saying I agree with this strategy just offering it up.

  Being a part of 5 Eyes removes any ‘independence’, as does being the first country in the world to have an FTA with China. Pursuing a deal with Russia isn’t too good, either, and they’ve already been told if they continue with that they can kiss goodbye to good deals with the UK and EU.
  
  The only thing NZ looks to be doing is playing both sides against the middle, potentially taking the role of ‘double agent’. That’s not a good position to be in. Those in that role usually can’t look forward to a wonderful future – certainly not one that includes anyone’s respect.
  
  It would be bad enough if it was done openly but, as has been pointed out, this government makes contrary statements on the same day, in front of the same cameras, etc. because they’re also completely inept. And they’re erring on the side of the ‘bad guys’. Internally and externally, they’re prepared to sacrifice every principle, honesty, integrity, ethics… to suit whatever their individual agenda happen to be, let alone any group ones.
  
  In fact, they look like a collectivity of juvenile, naive, wannabes who can’t be trusted in anything and are committed to nothing and no-one – in the end, sabotaging even self-interest. If that’s their ‘strategy’, they need a new one.

Princess Airhead’s latest pronouncement that Russians expelled by other countries will no longer be able to holiday here is a derisory response to the need for solidarity to demonstrate international condemnation of Putin’s actions. This country continues its inexorable slide towards international irrelevance and domestic dysfunction under the COL.

Russia is an energy giant.

Cindy’s about to pull the plug on future exploration.

I see the Keystone Cops in Britain now think the poisoning was done at the traitors front door.

None of the basics of this alleged poisoning have been established and yet the Russians are guilty on the basis of no hard evidence. How quickly we are prepared to drop our values when hyper distraction tactics are needed.

Meanwhile the political classes of Europe continue to flood the place with illegal immigrants who are a real danger to citizens.

The humour would have been better had you used that

We have a set that contain all the Soviet leaders with Mikhail Gorbachev the outer doll and working through to Vladimir Lenin – they were purchased in Moscow in 1987 – they were popular then.

Now you can get them starting with VVP and ending with Tsar Nikolai II and various other versions depending on how much you want to spend, your political taste and your sense of humor

Dear old Jacinda is reinforcing my initial opinion of her:
Bobble headed Barbie
1. She is artificial……Barbie is plastic
2. She is vacuous……Barbie is hollow
3. She was sold entirely on her looks..so is Barbie
4. Barbie comes in a cardboard and cellophane box that is of no use after you remove the doll for Jacinda, that would be the Labour party.
And she is as annoying as one of those nodding dogs in a 1970’s Holden (bobble headed)

Can someone explain why we must jeopardise our future trade relationships, while EU/UK continues to import Russian gas?

Then there is the issue of huge amounts of EU/UK investment into Russia, and Russian oligarch cash invested in London.
Of course if UK decides to ‘crack’ down on the oligrachs this will make Putin happy and even more popular with the voters back home as some of the loot is repatriated.

I’m insulted and propose to put my name forward for training in underarmed combat and micro dot photography, as well set up a give a little internet site. I shall endeavour to undermine Pike reentry project for a start. As Eric Sykes and Hattie Jacques used to say “Go with Labour” Thumbs up.
