The Prime Minister, Miss Ardern, has been assured by Mr Hagar of the national special security committee, that there has been no Russian interference or influence on New Zealand’s computer networks in the recent spate of worldwide cyber-attacks.

In a statement, Hagar said: ‘nothing to see here comrades, move along’, ‘look out for the release of my new book’ and ‘there are no Russian spies in New Zealand’

So Housing NZ took a tenant to the Tenancy Tribunal for having personal property in the common area walkway, which is against the Body Corporate rules. I assume Housing NZ followed proper process and issued a 14 day notice to fix first. The TT threw it out, apparently as there was insufficient evidence. Mr Twyford named it petty and vindictive and said Housing NZ has to be compassionate.

My question to Mr Twyford, and the Tenancy Tribunal – with high density mixed private and social housing coming right up have they considered the categorical imperative?

Like what would happen if everyone did it.

There are good reasons for the rule of no personal property in common areas, health and safety, and emergency exits top of the list. The building should fail its annual BWOF for common area obstructions. IMO the Body Corporate did the right thing. Housing NZ did not, as sufficient evidence was not provided to support its application.

Housing NZ tenants have to abide by Body Corporate rules, as do all other occupants. Perhaps Housing NZ did not do enough to provide evidence, but the BC rules in this case are clear. The TT should uphold adherence to BC rules, provided sufficient evidence is presented. Housing NZ tenants should not get a free pass compared to other occupants.

High density mixed use unit titled properties with significant social housing – expect more and more trouble. Especially if first responders can’t get access through common areas and someone is injured or dies.

  You’ve hit it on the head, Artemisia. Having lived in a couple of apartments with a bodycorp, I can tell you that even well educated and behaved New Zealanders have trouble dealing with the need to comply with the rules. Partly that is because there is no cultural expectation of that type of conformity. So god knows what will happen with these new developments. Who will chair the bodycorp, authorise expenses and enforce the rules? Nightmare city.

With the massive push by Labour to alternative energy sources have they considered the storage implications eg they don’t exist on mass scale?

Have they considered all the people on gas will have to switch that load to electricity which will coincide with massive increases in electric vehicles, whereby the local lines distribution networks won’t even be able to handle part of one of these events let alone both?

Has the prime minister or any environmentalist ever thought about where the chemical compounds to make solar panels and batteries come from, what the conditions of those mines are, how polluted the local environment is and what the working conditions are?

    I bought my wife one of those M3s, a convertible 2010 model. It is a LOT of fun to drive…(I get a crappy old X5…but do get to drive hers, occasionally).
    The M3 uses about 10 litres per 100km on a drive from Whakatane to Auckland, with the occasional hard acceleration to enjoy that V8 and its 309kW of sheer awesomeness.

Veteran UK reporter Fisk has been to Douma to check out the so called gas attacks.
It appears those in the video that nearly started WW3 were suffering from oxygen starvation .
There was NO gas attack.

      CO2 works pretty well too, CO is itself not lethal because it excludes oxygen but actually replaces it in the blood; and is actually flammable.
      
      But I still come round to a key issue, why would Assad want to use Chlorine ? It is not effective as a battlefield weapon (and in this case “appears” to have targeted civilians anyway) and he has no need to terrorise any further in an area he is on the verge of reconquering by conventional means. If we want motive, the Jihadis have it in spades; Assad, not really unless you simply want to believe that he is such an evil bastard that he would do this for sport.

A report has been released this week by LAWA stating that over the last 10 years the water quality in rivers has improved in more sites than it has deteriorated.
How can this be when back in August/September last year we heard from Cindy and the MSM that our waterways had got so much worse over an exact nine year block.

  One problem, there are no US Navy battleships that ever had a nuclear reactor. There were nuclear Submarines, Aircraft carriers, and a few cruisers, such as the USS TRUXTON, but all US Navy Battleships were conventionally powered. Now the only Nuclear powered surface ships are carriers, and tying one of those up in Devonport is impossible. They wouldn’t fit!

How a Zulu (and his Granny) cured my White Guilt

Johannesburg, Apartheid era South Africa, 1980s

Sipho (not his real name), pronounced “see-paw”, Lefty-Chick and I (also a lefty at the time) were all young computer science grads working together as programmers in the same office. We were also all studying part-time towards post grad degrees and would sometimes get together for a lunch break etc to “study group”.

There was some incident in the news about the riot police shooting two rioters in Soweto (where Sipho lived). Lefty-Chick was still quite steamed up about it and said something like: “Sipho, you must hate white people”

Sipho said no, he didn’t hate white people and proceeded to tell us his story.

When he was about 14 he was heading down a path towards activism and violence motivated by blind anger towards whites. His granny decided to intervene.

She made him sit at their kitchen table in their small house in Soweto with a pencil and paper and told him to list all the nice things white people did for him. After 5 minutes the paper was still empty.

She then said: “See the pencil and paper. We did not have those before white people brought them. Write that down.” So Sipho dutifully wrote “pencil and paper”. He could not think of anything more.

“What is that?” she asked, pointing to his sandwich and a glass of water. “Bread and jam and water” he replied. “White people brought those to us. When I was a small girl we did not have bread and jam and clean water in a tap. We had to fetch dirty water from the river on hour heads. Write it down”.

And so it went: electricity, the chair, the table, hospital he was born in, the house he lived in, the bus, his school, his school books, a written language, his favourite subject – maths, football….”. A two page list of things white people had done for him.

He was mad at her but he knew she was right. He changed his path and focused on academic achievement, doing very well.

When his school, and later his university, were burned down by blacks, the whites rebuilt it and replaced the books. When he was beaten up and left in the road, black people ignored him (except to steal his shoes) and a white cop stopped and took care of him and got him to hospital. A white man at the hospital built by whites fixed him up. And so it has been his whole life.

Lefty-Chick was a bit annoyed and said: “But you must hate it when the police and soldiers are in Soweto”. “No”, says Sipho, “That is the only time I feel safe.”

Lefty-Chick was getting exasperated: “But you must hate apartheid.”.
“Yes”, says Sipho, “because it forces me to live with other blacks. I understand why whites don’t want to live with blacks – I don’t want to either.”

I felt a disturbance in my Lefty force and over the next few weeks the burden of 300 years of white guilt slowly left my shoulders.

    In that context, it is not unknown for Maori kids at high school to attack their peers when said peers show any signs of ‘Being white’; ie achieving good marks, becoming ‘booklish’ or attempting to ‘improve themselves’ and so escape the ‘ghetto’ mindset. Noticeably, excelling in sport is acceptable in such situations. This is nothing new (I first became aware of it in the ’70’s) and the beatings are invariably intiated by those of lesser abilities, and (most unusually), frequently by girls.
    
    The reasons are never defined or investigated, but at heart would seem tobe motivated to a large extent by jealousy, especially as the instigators of the attacks are invariably large and less than quick-witted (although when it comes to ‘acquiring’ things from others, the latter is not the case; they have remarkable abilities in such areas).
    
    As an adjunct to the above there was also a ‘It’s cool to be a fool’ attitude doing the rounds of NZ secondary schools during the late 1990’s, and once again, those who bought into that the most were Maori, especially young Maori males. No idea if such an attitude still exists, but it probably damaged many Gen Y young Maori guys.
    
    By such means are Maori held down and held back…

      Err Roundup (glyphosate) isn’t the best choice – it works at the growing points of the weeds by inhibiting amino acid synthesis (particularly tyrosine, tryptophan and phenylalanine) … since mosses are usually only a single stem and leaves 1 cell thick, roundup is of limited use. Ferrous sulfate is best in lawns, bleach (ammonium doing the job there) or lime or >> sunlight are better bets on hard surfaces.

For 6 years, Jordan Worth’s partners life was a living hell.

From taking over Facebook pages, withholding physical affection, threatening with weapons and physical violence, leaving black eyes, broken bones, scarring from scalds and burns, even down to what clothes to wear, Jordan’s partner lost every vestige of control to Jordan. Often seen limping, showing the clear signs of abuse, neighbours often heard shouting, with Jordan’s partner shouting “Get off me, Your hurting me!” Jordan was sometimes seen through the window brandishing a weapon!

After neighbours called police to the couples house in June last year, Jordans’s partner was placed in the care of paramedics, who catalogued an extensive list of injuries, including scalds to the legs and hands which will leave permanent scarring, a hand wound, a number of stab wounds about the limbs and body, bruising… the level of abuse was sickening.

Jordan’s partner had been isolated from friends and family. Jordan’s approval, rarely given, was required before adequate food and even bedding would be allowed. Jordan even denied the use of their shared bed for months at a time.

Jordan was arrested, charged, and convicted. Jordan was sentenced in the Luton Crown Court to seven and a half years jail.

Jordan Worth is a real person, and so is Jordan’s partner. Jordan’s partner’s name is suppressed. Jordan, on release, will be subject to restraining orders which will forbid contact for an indefinite period.

Yet another case of domestic abuse, sadistic, controlled, over a period of years.

With one key difference.

Jordan Worth is a 22 year old with an honours degree in fine arts. A trained gymnast, a volunteer for an animal charity, a fundraiser for children in Africa, and female.

Her ex partner is male.

Jordan Worth has been convicted of the offence of controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship, introduced in 2015, as well as wounding with intent and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Intimate Partner violence comes in all forms. Please stop categorising intimate partner violence as nearly always male on female. It’s a lie!

  One of New Zealand’s most sickening criminal cases, just the third conviction for slave trading in the country’s legal history, can now be revealed.
  
  A mother of a teenage daughter has been jailed for six years and 11 months after keeping her daughter as a sex slave and selling her body to men some 1000 times over a two-year period.
  
  She was sold as many as five times a day.
  
  The teen, who has permanent name suppression, escaped her horror in November 2016 and fled to police.
  
  Kasmeer Lata, the teen’s mother, was sentenced today in the High Court at Auckland by Justice Matthew Muir for dealing in slaves and receiving earnings from commercial sexual services from an underage person.
  
  “Ms Lata has come to the realisation that she may well be the most despised woman in New Zealand, that will be her burden,” defence counsel Karl Trotter said.
  
  During the 18 months the teen was sold as a sex slave it is estimated her 36-year-old mother collected about $100,000, keeping half, court documents obtained by the Herald show.
  
  It is the first case of its kind in New Zealand under a specific subsection of the Crimes Act, Crown prosecutor Natalie Walker told the court. She said the offending was without precedent and should be denounced in the most explicit terms.
  
  The slave dealing conviction is also one of just three in New Zealand’s legal history since the crime was written into the Crimes Act in 1961.
  
  The teen, in her victim impact statement read to the court, said she now suffers from regular pain as a result of her trauma and has mental health issues.
  
  “I have to make up lies about four years of my life and why I live on my own without my parents’ support.
  
  “I see men differently now, I think they always want something from me and that is why they are talking to me,” she said.
  
  “I always wanted my mum to be a normal person … I wonder what I did to deserve my mum. All I wanted was your love as a child, teenager, and your girl.”
  
  Justice Muir said Lata’s offending has caused “long-lasting if not irreparable damage to her daughter” as she “effectively pimped her out”.
  
  He imposed a minimum period of imprisonment of three years and five months.
  Lata told her daughter to begin work as a prostitute to help feed her family when just 14 years old, court documents read.
  
  Despite refusing, the teen was sold for the first time on her 15th birthday.
  
  Over the next year and a half, the teen was kept as a prisoner inside a Papatoetoe home and sold as a sex slave to men an estimated 1000 times.
  
  A second person allegedly involved, charged with dealing in underage people for sex, will go on trial next week.
  
  The teen had moved to New Zealand from Fiji with her mother and brothers just a year before her horror began.

    But pimping of young girls has been going on for years in Auckland (and no doubt elsewhere.)
    Some years ago I was told about a 15 year old whose mother was dropping her at night to a place where a well-known gang ran underage prostitutes.
    I rang the social services and was told “So mum’s a pimp? We have hundreds in Auckland!”
    I know the woman in this case was in receipt of a generous benefit, supplemented by the income from burglaries, unlike the woman just sentenced who had no other source of income.
    So why aren’t all these other pimp mums being had up and jailed?

Hannity said that he was just running some points of law by him for use on his programme, which isn’t enough to establish the privilege. If that’s so, then there should be nothing in the content to cause him concern. If it’s not, then Hannity has been a fool for not saying so loud and clear. It’s like Trump saying he knew nothing of Cohen’s attempts to silence the porn star. If that’s right, then no privilege would attach to documents setting out what Cohen did.

      Ryan (Cohen’s attorney) was clear that Hannity was a client. The court hearing was clear that Cohen had 3 *clients* not “3 people I talk with on the phone”.
      
      Hannity then claimed that he wasn’t a client. Then that he’d paid Cohen some de minimis amount ($10 was mentioned). Then that he did indeed claim attorney-client privilege.
      
      Like Trump before him Hannity is now stuck between two difficult choices:
      Option 1 = claim attorney-client privilege to conceal your communications, but face very awkward questions about your ethics because you didn’t tell your audience about your conflicts, or
      Option 2 = claim you weren’t a client, but then your communications aren’t privileged.
      
      That he hasn’t chosen Option 2 suggests his communications with Cohen might make for interesting reading.

    @hullkiwi there was mention by DPF regarding the Lab/Green (Mud Mob) fiscal responsibility pledge to keep borrowing below 30% of GDP. Not sure that is right as sweet cheeks favourite response is “paying down debt” to 20% of GDP by 2021. Whichever they have already started to make that so much more of a challenge with recent policy moves dragging down productivity. Even worse the Business community are anticipating per capita (sweet cheeks favourite term) growth to be sliding into negative figures.
    The result is a squeeze on sweet cheeks since as productivity and GDP decline then so do the % target drop in value regardless of which % the sweetie chooses.
    They might be falsely misled by the belated IMF report that predicted 3% growth when more valid current reliable evaluation is indicating it dropping below the 2% level. If so we can be sure the talk of per capita GDP will be avoided like it is a non PC term only for realists.

  The Chch building issue could get very expensive for the COL especially since the EQC have already apologised and we await the result of the test case. It is a can of worms since the original owners (claimants) signed off on the original repairs and took advantage of a sellers market to flick the house off. Some have even been on sold several times so the whole thing becomes very messy. Perhaps the only way that the new owners can hope for is another earthquake so they can make a claim on EQC and start the whole process. Shades of a certain MP wanting all his dings being included in one job under a single insurance claim.
  We are also rightly sceptical about the whole situation when considering that the COL have not one but two heavy weights on the case. Their combined weight does not match their ability so there might be another wait for many. Then the “conversations” with sweet cheeks might bring a quieting of the rash underfunding calls.

  Story took an interesting turn yesterday in that Folau via Jones managed to put the story back onto free speech, and lay the groundwork for him appearing to be persecuted for his beliefs, and a potential martyr if Aussie Rugby rinse him. Also aided by the likes of Louisa Wall on this side of the Tasman mischaracterising what he said as “hate speech”, and trotting out the blather that Folau’s Tweets could drive some to suicide.
  
  But it will still come down to how much leverage the Wallabies sponsors like Qantas choose to exercise. I suspect that consumers don’t really give a shit either way…but I’m not sure the CEO of Aussie rugby, Raelene Castle, is in a position to call Qantas’ bluff.

        A vice like smoking? No. Some people seem to be wired with a sexual preference (sometime exclusively so) for their own gender. How that arises exactly is unclear – doesn’t have to be genetic necessarily, it might have to do with the environment in the womb (hormone levels, stress, whatever) during the early development of certain brain structures (say), or perhaps a combination of such effects. But it does seem to be a genuine phenomenon, and doesn’t go against “scientific biology”.

        You are right that science is not data alone, and that theory can, indeed, does preceed it inductively. Nonetheless, when done properly, the data is always preeminent. Hence, as I anticipated above re Fletch’s potential response, your argument is primarily metaphysical, based on Aristotle, not impirical despite your appeal to the contrary.
        
        Better to ditch Aquinas, and go to the root of any ethical disagreement as per Reformers – does the other party accept the authority of Scripture, and has its meaning and application in the matter been accurately discerned? Anything else is a side show.

        Science is not the right tool to use on matters of faith and morality.
        
        That said, homosexuality has (as far as we know) existed for all of human history. It is “abnormal” with regard to genetic survival and presumably there is a scientific explanation of some sort as to why such behaviour exists and indeed persists.
        
        It may be ultimately akin to the generally accepted explanation of why potentially lethal genetic mutations like those that underlie sickle-cell anaemia persist – that is that a certain expression of the same traits is beneficial (in the sickle cell case it offers significant protection against malarial infection) enough that the downside of excessive expression is in genetic terms worth it.
        
        But as to whether it is “bad” or “wrong” in a moral sense is a purely philosophical matter, not a scientific one.

        Never said theory wasn’t a important part of science. Heavens, sometimes there might be several theories competing (e.g., Big Bang versus Hoyle’s idea). At the end of the day, however, what decides which theories survive?

        You seem to be making some sort of “if A then B, then if B then A” error. Just because I think that data and observation are the cornerstone of science doesn’t mean they aren’t important elsewhere.

With regard to the outstanding EQC claims under dispute in Christchurch may I raise a couple of questions. How many are ex AMI policy holder and therefore Taxpayer owned Southern Response customers now ?
These hundreds of outstanding claims appear to be claims whereby a new property owner has bought a house which has been subject to an EQC and Insurance company settlement.
This of course was revealed by the Estate Agents. They are invariably older houses I understand.
Question ?
When these people purchase these houses did they have a survey done ?
If not, knowing that damage had occurred and had been repaired.
Question ?
As there appear to many probably heavily mortgaged, as are told, did the Mortgage lender, say a Bank, not insist on having a survey done ?
This is normal commercial practice for a lender to satisfy their rules. Also that a valid insurance policy be retained covering at least the lenders interest.
Now a final comment – EQC have under their legislation paid their share of damage up to $100,000 plus gst so under what legal grounds are they liable to pay any more.
Presumably these are now a political claim not an EQC or insurers claim.
These houses current insurers are saying the claim for damages made are before we became the property’s insurers – we are not their clients.
Those involved earlier are saying – we paid and have a legal sign off.

  This is a can full of legal worms. Were Fletchers or others under contract to EQC to scope, arrange and effect repairs? That would make EQC liable for the quality of the work done which must be independent of any cap. The making good of a failure of a servant is a separate issue from a statutory cap on liability.
  We have unknowingly fallen into this trap and are treating the windfall payout as liquidated damages. The major item of concern and expense appears to be irrelevant, not noticed and some packing out the details such as taking the heat pump off the wall and putting it back again is evident.

They got their settlement for the original damage and who can confirm or deny more damage might have occurred with so many aftershocks? This in addition to the buyer surety required for financing subsequent purchases.
  Unfortunately the apology already offered up from EQC might make it very hard for the Government to distance itself from this mess. This one has a lot more to come yet as we watch and enjoy our popcorn as Woods and King “sort it out”.

Great programme on Nat Radio last night…couldn’t sleep, a police helicopter spent ages circling above! Anyway a professor from Auck Uni has researched the case of the effect of climate change on pacific atolls and, surprise, surprise, confirmed scientific data shows that 40% have increased in size, 40% have not changed and only 20% have had slight diminishing of size. He basically said that the Tuvalu govt is telling porkies about threats to their islands in order to receive international funding and probably a lot of other islands are to. He even said that the fact that islands are increasing…in height (and he explained how that happens) and circumference means their water tables are not affected. It was worth listening to.

      Tarawa the main island of Kiribati is not fit to live in and it has nothing to do with climate change. 50K people now live there when once there was $10k. The island surrounds a long narrow lagoon and is only 2-3 above sea level. Tides was over and physical people pressure has squashed the coral so the fresh water floating below is problematical. Food is hard to grown in a salty environment and droughts occur too.
      
      I once turned down the offer of an Govt position there.

  Interesting Ross12 but trade seems to be a better tool than diplomacy. The strength of Donald Trump as a trade oriented leader and a tough negotiator are apparent as it enhances diplomacy to get results. It is also noteworthy that despite all the attempts to find a diplomatic solution it only got some traction when the trade embargo started to be felt.   What’s Angry on about? The Waitangi Tribunal works its way through the issues (not the govt) and if the Tribunal requires more time to consider the issues it generally gets its way. Eg look how many years it is taking to settle the claims from up north in Hone’s territory – it hasn’t been settled!

Looks like the Jimmy Saville model worked well for this dude too. So the simple formula for pedophiles to get access to children is:

– get widely praised by politicians for your “good work”(Dalglish was a 2016 Member of the Order of Canada awarded by Jacinda’s mate Trudeau)
– enjoy a lifetime of public praise and private child abuse.

Dalglish has done lots of work for the UN and WHO – clearly globalist sponsored pedophilia is a thing.

Mike Hosking, about Israel Folau, has once again lost all contact with rationality, giving in to a dumb, lynch-mob mentality. It’s the ultimate example of ‘shooting the messenger’ – or crucifying Christ.

Hosking says, “If, say, I had said the same thing on my show but not backed it up with the same religious belief, that would be hate speech…”

But Folau didn’t just ‘say it’. He was asked a direct question, however disingenuously, in his private capacity, about Christianity specifically.

More to the point, Hosking says, “Which is why Folau is not in more trouble than he is, he has the partial protection of the Bible.”

Well, he would. The original question from Mike Sephton-Poultney – a senior trader at World Sports Betting as far as I’m aware (and clearly setting Folau up) – was
“@izzyfolau what was gods plan for gay people??” he asked.

Note: what was GOD’s PLAN, not Israel Folau’s plan. ‘God’s plan’ is only described in the Bible – the sole source of information on ‘God’s plan’. What other basis is there for an answer to the question?
Israel Folau gave an entirely truthful answer – what the Bible says from cover to cover – “HELL…Unless they repent of their sins and turn to God.”

Hosking says, “If you’re doing it in the name of a God or higher being or a belief, is that a crime or a heartfelt conviction?”

Sorry. Israel Folau did not choose to spontaneously inform the world of that plan. The question was a request for information on Christianity as stated in the Bible. The answer remains the same whether Folau is a Christian or not – should have been the same if he was Buddhist or atheist. There is only one truthful answer to that question and it was the one he gave. If that is to be considered ‘hate speech’, then all reference books about everything have to be thrown out.

Israel Folau is not God – and cannot change what God ‘said’ in the Bible – whether he believes what is said in the Bible is moot and entirely up to him.

Hosking says, “And if we accept you can do and say whatever you like based on biblical teachings, then why can’t you go round quoting, believing and acting on any biblical teachings…”

Well, everyone does, all the time – often not even realising where their words or actions derive from. But there’s no doubt that most of the ‘relativism’ in Western society derives from Christian tolerance’ and ‘acceptance’ and ‘love’. Should someone be prosecuted or lynched for saying “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”

“…And that’s a responsibility and/or privilege that brings restraint, containment and restriction. ”
Gosh. Do I take it that we are all now forbidden to ‘quote’, ‘believe’, or ‘act on’ any source of information at all that isn’t certified as acceptable? Just how are we going to do that? Do we have to get a legal opinion before we think, say, or do anything at all? From the Human Rights Commission? A judge? The lynch mob? The neighbour? Twitter? The MSM?

But ultimately, what is entirely absent from Hoskings rant is – what was the ‘right’ answer supposed to be and based on what source of information? Ironically, one based on another BELIEF in a different RELIGION (as defined by ‘a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion’) held by a different group of people – the supposedly ‘RIGHT’ people who are opposed to Christianity.

Hosking says, “I like the idea of free speech, but when left to its base devices, it can turn very ugly, very quickly.”

Yes, it can. The real truth of this situation is that the original question was very, very ‘ugly’ – and typical of the gay lobby. It sought to invade the private space and dignity of an individual BECAUSE he is “a public figure and representative of his sport and country” and publicly lynch him for the inevitable truthful response.

It is a common and morally evil tactic which seeks to turn every member of society into a compromised liar with no ethics, integrity, or honesty – mouthing the ‘right’ words/views about the ‘right’ people/things and ultimately seeking to control their thoughts as well. Only the completely submissive and obedient should be allowed to work, play sport, govern the country…. ‘others’ should be destroyed.

Hosking says, “…a lot of historic conflict is a direct reaction to religious belief and teachings.”
Yes. ‘Religious’ – a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion. One group decides that they are ‘right’ and they will do anything, damage anyone to any degree, cause any war, to force others to comply with their particular beliefs. It’s simple evil. It creates Hell on earth.

And in this case, it derives from Mike Sephton-Poultney and the gay lobby, prominently figuring the CEO of Qantas, Alan Joyce, who is described by the Financial Times in Sydney as someone who “does not shy away from a fight when standing up for his BELIEFS” and was accused of “…using shareholder funds to “bully” the government [on gay issues]. He demanded they “stick to their knitting”.

But it’s okay when it’s their ‘beliefs’ – no ‘God’ authority. Just theirs – cause they know the whole truth about everything, all the time. And if they don’t, you have to say they do anyway.

    Your simplistic question is also shallow and futile. Jesus is a Jew. His purpose is to fulfil the Law of the Old Testament without changing ‘one jot or one tittle’ of it. His personal statements recorded in the New Testament are necessarily abbreviated. Was the New Testament supposed to rewrite the whole of the Old – or Jesus just sit and recite it as Muslims learn to recite the Koran? Notwithstanding that he read and taught from it in the synagogue because that was the Jewish source document.
    
    I could say the Old Testament is clear about a lot of things, including:
    
    “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination…If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”
    
    But more than that – “The account [of Sodom] describes the men of the city attempting to forcibly have sex with two angelic visitors to the city, who have appeared in the form of men. Later parts of the Old Testament accuse Sodom of a range of sins: oppression, adultery, lying, abetting criminals, arrogance, complacency and indifference to the poor.”
    
    As Israel Folau pointed out, the Bible doesn’t single out gays as the only ‘sinners’ who, all on their own, are going to hell. He was only asked about gays. There’s all the others as well, which is all of us – who don’t ‘repent’ and accept Christ.
    
    I could say that Jesus said:
    
    But He answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, “Honor your father and mother”; and, “He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him die by death.” But you say [splitting hairs], Whoever says to his father or mother, Whatever you would gain from me, It is a gift to God; and in no way he honors his father or his mother. And you voided the commandment of God by your tradition.
    
    Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, “This people draws near to Me with their mouth, and honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. But in vain they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
    
    “But the things which come out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and these defile the man. For out of the heart come forth reasonings, evil things, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, lies, blasphemies. These things are the things defiling the man.”
    
    “And He said to them, Go into all the world, preach the gospel to all the creation. The one believing and being baptized will be saved. And the one not believing will be condemned.” The just shall be saved by faith – which is why the evil try to remove the opportunity for anyone to make a personal choice.
    
    I could go on but what for? Those deliberately trying to justify lies and oppression aren’t going to be ‘reasonable’ or truthful about what’s in the Bible. The clear emphasis of the whole Bible is on God/ Jesus judging the ‘spirit’ and ‘heart’ but that’s distorted as well – nominating some people as ‘justified’ in targeting their victims.
    
    But while I’m at it, God – as God – can do whatever He likes and there’s nothing Israel Folau or anyone else can do about it. Any ‘debate’ is completely futile.

  But gorse IMO it is what the Gang Green threatened to get the Captains call to kill oil and gas exploration. They now have an ardent activist as co-leader and have had time to get at least some idea about what confidence and supply really means. Playing safe and ignoring them like the old drunk did could bring about the downfall of the COL. Seems Pot Plant Sage is not happy when councils exercising their legal authority make decisions contrary to her view of the world.

Exercising their authority, Northland Regional Council have approved an application for extraction of kauri gum from a peat swamp/not. Reports identify that the extraction and remedial work will be beneficial, because it will result in the removal of invasive exotic plants. But Pot Plant, is not happy & wants the bog left as a “natural habitat” for the invasive species.

As an expression of her authority she has telegraphed that she is seeking a judicial review of the council’s decision. Great, so now we are going to have councils second guessing the decision making of Pot Plant in order to avoid their decisions being challenged by an over teaching minister.

Suggestion: if it involves the environment let’s send all applications to the Minister to let her make the decision and avoid her clogging up the system with judicial reviews. Needless to say, applicants will clog up the system appealing her decisions.

Before next election I think we need a virtue signalling report on our local Councillors. Some local councillors put up on their facebook page issues affecting the local community for meaningful discussion, and report on projects and expenditure and progress being made by council.. Other local councillors facebook pages resemble Trudeaus trip to India with selfies of themselves in ethnic garb, or at eco conferences, or at various meetings. But it’s as if they actively avoid having online discussions wiht their constituents. And online should be just as valid a place for a community discussion as a physical community meeting.

Witnesses who watched an armed police stop unfold on Cambridge Road describe the event as “crazy”.

One of the witnesses says two police cars stopped a red car on Cambridge Road after following the vehicle for a while.

“Police had closed down Cambridge Road as they took someone into custody just before 8pm.

“It was an armed stop. They had followed the car from the Mount.

“I saw them as I was directly behind the police cars. They all turned their lights on and pulled the car over about 20m from Te Atatu Place.

“One of the police units parked in the middle of the road and didn’t allow us past for five minutes.

“I saw police with guns pointed at the vehicle and the officers were yelling commands at the driver.”

The witness says police then took the driver into custody and re-opened the road.

Another witness described the event as “completely crazy”.

A police spokesperson says all the information they have at this stage is that a “routine traffic stop was conducted on Cambridge Road in the last hour”.

So, reading the police comment and adding the eye witness accounts we would have to believe that routine traffic stops are now accompanied by a selection of the constabulary guns.

We have a new Government and usually you would be prepared to give it a fair go to govern. Ideally such a government would implement new ideas that would be for the good of this country. One would also hope that the new PM had a mature intelligent head on his or her shoulders.

Unfortunately this new Govt feels me with dread and I do not have an ounce of respect for them.

We have a galah for a PM who does not think before opening her mouth making click bait statements that could reflect badly on our country.

  The question to ask Tabuteau , Vic, is if that is the case what was achieved with the move other than pissing off the people in Taranaki and elsewhere?
  He is also another idiot who doesn’t realise that when the gas is found a mining license has to be applied for –given what the PM has done this license is not likely to be given, as the Government would look stupid. Because of this most companies will not even start exploratory drilling.

Just returned from 10 great days on the South Coast of NSW – days of 29 – 32 deg. – walking, swimming, re-acquainting with good Aussie beer & wine, good friends and relatives not seen for 15 years (lived there for 10 years in the 1980’s, had a few trips since) –

And return to a crappier Govt. than they were 12 days ago. That’s chillier than the 10 deg. drop in temperatures.

Gotta remove this useless bloody govt. Thank you Winston – you little fucking arsehole. (That’s my wife talking – I don’t usually swear that much 😉

  Our little Honda got pinched during school hols some years back. (Hubby had filled up the garage with his ancient Austins.. so I had to park my car on the road).
  6 months later, cops ring to report our Honda had been found… in neighbouring suburb where it had been parked for the last 6 months. We went to retrieve it… baby seat still in the back, no damage, but McDonald hamburger wrappers and Coke bottles littering the inside….
  Lazy little buggers had taken our car from Island Bay so they could go to Newtown McDonalds (about a 20min walk).

  I doubt that there is any need, now, for specific legislation to protect the special prosecutor. Especially now that parts of the linked investigations are being handled by other US Attorneys. The process is too complex and too embedded in the fabric of the institutions that uphold due process for the president to kill by decree, much as he might wish to.

    @waikatogirl explaining is loosing as we have been told but perhaps with so much exposure the local media are also sick of “absolutely”. Like she can “absolutely” be a PM and a mother since so many other woman can multi-task. After watching her fail as a PM we shudder to think of any child being reared by a failure as a mother too due to “multi-tasking”. That term has often been the catch phase that preceded failures happening in pairs or even sometimes more when all the time we thought Diamonds were girls best friend.
    The upside side is even knowing it is going to cost us plenty it is all turning out to be a very expensive laugh a minute with the budget yet to come.
