    He’s been convicted of the crime of grossly offensive speech for a joke.

If he had written ‘3 or 4 % of NZ society today still feels deeply…’ I might have continued reading because I am interested in history. But I didn’t because whatever comes after the banner is compromised.

By association, Newsroom to me is not a news source going forward, especially after reading their absurd article grading the worst excuse for a Government in NZ history.

  Then PNG would be New Zealand is today and Aotearoa would be what PNG is today.

    Unbelievable that Cosby thought he would get away with it.

    You may be right Urban, but in Weinstein’s case, the sweethearts who are now famous because of a break he gave them were the aspiring young actresses who were only to keen to get on their backs on the casting couch, as they knew the odds on them “making it” in Hollywood were near nil.   I too listened to AAA the Minister of injustice who failed to even comment on the alleged corruption of the Crown Prosecution and Police in the Tamihere case use of a known double murderer to add more dubious weight to the highly circumstantial evidence. If as Tamihere commented that Police and prosecutors knew the evidence was false then surely a case of perverting the course of justice should at least be investigated, the perceived complicity of the Judge or at least his/her ability to discern the reliability of such evidence and the question of if the Defence and jury were made aware of the Character and Criminal history of the witness as required was actually complied with raising serious questions. This and other miscarriages of justice is tainting the whole Police and Justice system with a level of incompetence or corruption we increasingly see in other areas of the “Public service” the results if continued will end badly probably brutally.

    Roberto Conchie Harris offered his services twice in the false convictions of Mark Lundy, in 2002 and for the 2015 trial, with widely different information. First in 2002 he claimed to know who had the jewelry box, and then in 2015 he claimed Lundy confessed to the crime in the back pews of Linton prison chapel. The police cleverly repudiated both claims before making fools of themselves, but undeterred found witness X for the 2015 trial.
    When X got in trouble with other inmates before the 2015 trial they sent 2 members to Christchurch to protect their witness.
    Ross Burns proved in the trial that X was never in the same locale as Lundy, the snitch was exposed, and so were the fools in the constabulary who thought they could pull the stunt.
    The dog ate their homework.
    This however stands as a minor indiscretion in the Lundy case, the whole sorry saga is on the point of being blown wide open in another episode of annus horribilis for the cheats.

I have awoken this morning in great sadness where in fact In should be bloody furious but that would be lowering myself to the persons on whose comments I am making.
Two Senior Government Ministers ( amongst others) in our open (sic) Government have continuously and deliberately lied to our Country.

Twyford and his Labour associate Goff continuing lies (about almost everything) but particularly Auckland Transport $28 Billion spend by increasing taxes and taxes on taxes for the favoured Auckland. Most will never happen anyway as whatever there will not be enough money. Why should the rest of New Zealand who will never go near Auckland have to pay for this ?

Clark – a one time Ordained Presbyterian Minister has the gall to openly lie about Middlemeore Hospital where written evidence to the contrary is publicised, and he still lies about it. How can a so called man of God do so deliberately ?

Of course there are many others like the liar Curren, but overall I personally am very sad for our Country when our so called fortuitous Leaders lie so continuously, and we are expected to lap it up.

    Yesterday’s announcement was a stage managed PR exercise. It was a repackaging of the ATAP report of June 2017 with reworked & unsupported dollar amounts. The amazing thing was it included Penlink & Mill Road lite, both projects rubbished by Labour (As advised by the Red Melons & the Transport Blog).
    
    The problem with the whole package is it is its lots of expensive projects that will solve nothing e.g. the Penlink offering is for 2 lanes that can be expanded to 4 lanes in the future, but will still cost $300mill for what is planned, the same for Mill Road, then is the tram & the rail line Airport to Puhunui, why? As announced these projects will do nothing, but cost too much!

    Sorry cmm that is more manure than my neighbour’s steers produce.
    Take Penlink- what was offered up yesterday was:
    1. Penlink lite – a 2 lane highway that can be expanded to 4 lane in the future;
    2. Cost $300mill, paid for by a combination of Fuel excise, Regional fuel tax and PPP;
    3. PPP means tolls, means local user are paying 3 times for a less than required road.
    
    Then there are the residents of North Rodney, in addition to the government’s fuel excise tax and the Regional fuel tax, the Rodney Local Board had proposed a targeted rate of 7.3% on top of local rates for sealing of local roads. The problems with this are:
    1. That the Local Board claim they were unaware the mayor was going ahead with his regional tax, despite it being telegraphed in 2016 by Goofy;
    2. They don’t have a programme of works to be undertaken & indeed they have no firm commitments from Council or AT that any roads will be sealed.
    3. Given the amount to be raised by this targeted rate is circa $5m per annum and that there are 680km of road to be sealed, how much road do you think will get sealed in the balance of my lifetime with this silly gesture?
    
    So, the reality is although the politicians portrayed they were being generous to Auckland in their announcements, the truth is Aucklanders are going to pay dearly for this, and some more so than others.

  Have a listen to yesterday’s Checkpoint interview with Rabin Rabindran, Deputy Chair of the Counties Manukau DHB, where he impartially outlines the sequence of recent events …. which shows up David Clark to be one of the biggest lying arseholes in the Labour COL govt.
  
  Even now and despite Rabin Rabindran’s and the DHB’s explanations, David Clark still tries to spin against the truth that he was informed of building issues and spins an “apology” from the DHB as to “backing his versions of events” when in fact the apology was related to another issue.
  
  Yet still David Clark bullshits his way out – why isn’t the rest of the MSM calling him out (like they would if he was National)? Kudos to RNZ again but the other news networks need to step up.

  Actually, Paulus: Twyford has threatened to charge Aucklanders more Land Tax (via rates) than the rest of the country, to pay for transport. He said recently that it’s not fair for the rest of the country. Plus the increased Auckland fuel tax.
  
  What I don’t find fair is this: Auckland gets stuffed full of more and more people, which the average Aucklander doesn’t want. But we have to pay for it, put up with increasingly full roads, beaches and reserves. And our children and grandchildren can no longer afford houses.
  
  And the only ‘benefit’, the so-called ‘capital gains’ are just inflation: sell in Auckland, buy in Auckland at the same price.

        The whole idea of idea having an oil and gas industry is to act as a shock proofing if there is ever an oil spike from say an all out war in the middle east. Even if we started now it would take two decades to shift to electric cars given the dispersion of wealth. That is if electric cars are with us but they aren’t, only really hybrids.

Shaw was being interviewed about the rubbish report published today, that he had commissioned the Productivity Commission to produce with regards to the costs to consumers and the economy, if NZ ‘does not change to non-fossil fuels’. Starting now & measuring the costs out to 2050. The report is supposedly supported by detailed modelling. I wonder which management consultancy saw this ‘golden goose’ coming?

        But HC that is what the sheeple understand when there is any mention of a “switch” of energy sources. Light on, light off. It is interesting that the release of this report follows so close on the heels of the O&G Captains call.
        The report however signals that life is going to be very expensive while failing to address just where all this funding will come from. Electric vehicles will need substantial subsidies to replace fossil fuelled vehicles. They seem to bypass the fact that as fossil fuelled vehicle numbers drop so too does the consolidated fund from lost taxes, levies and charges. Even before addressing the issue of where all the additional electricity will come from. Also how to provide adequate recharging stations to dispense that power.
        Imagine the dessert road scattered with flat EV’s who left home with only half a charge because somebody forgot to plug it in. Likewise flat EV’s blocking the reduced vehicle ways around Auckland as motorists revert to their alternative “spare” bike from their roof rack.
        In truth by 2050 there will be a whole new meaning on Anzac day to the common phrase “we will remember them” as Kiwi’s look back at the stupidity on display from the COL.

    They can make the stuff from “bovine fetal matter”. That’s hundred dollar words for aborted baby cows.
    
    So to make fake meat you have to get a cow pregnant, wait until the calf is developed to some extent (say about 5 kgs) and then abort it. Grind it up and put it into test tubes and grow, maybe 1kg of fake meat if you are lucky.
    
    That is insanely inefficient compared to just raising cows the normal way.
    
    Fake meat will only be viable if there is a way to grow the animal cells directly from vegetable sources. Basically tofu that ends up with an meat texture. And labs have no way of doing that yet.

Just been reading an article in the fake news outlet called Dom-Post. It has been written by a cub reporter called Jo Moir. maybe under the 90 day qualifying employment scheme.
She rates the Peters selected Coalition of Corruption and Chaos for their performance in the last six months. In fact almost star billing.
Peters the architect of the selection of NZs present Government and the back stabbing betrayal of his fixed income old age pensioners,and his vetoing of their small pension increase,was an abomination.Jo Moir in a scale of ten rates him a seven.
With a rating like that maybe Jo Moir wont make the 90 day cut.
Surely with the sour taste left in the mouths of many many fair play natural justice NZ voters with Peters betrayal and actions to turn NZ into a Banana Republic, a rating of say Two out of Ten would be a better rating. Only because i have never seen a one.

    Actually, today’s blogs (particularly this one) have taken the place formerly occupied by ‘letters to the editor’.
    
    A good proportion of DPF’s commenters are very well informed (sometimes via the internet but no problem with that) or very knowledgeable, educated and passionate about our society and its future.
    
    Sure there are some nutters here too, but these stick out like sore thumbs and are easily ignored. In the main though, the commenters are pretty readable and DPF writes a wide range of posts which I find interesting and there’s often a good dialogue going, which is great.
    
    I’ve sometimes wondered if KB could be called an ‘echo chamber’…. but I don’t think so, because some comments are mainly upticked while others are mainly downticked – demonstrating a pretty wide range of opinions.

      Trick is to find a Gull and one of the big four near the Gull. Amazing the impact on fuel prices then. Cheapest fuel in the Hibiscus Coast area is the BP in Millwater with an AA fuel card at $1.949/litre minus $0.06 to $0.10 with discount. Very cheap considering it is Millwater & a BP.

    But at present NZ in effect exports this electricity, earning about a billion dollars a year in overseas earnings. The country hasn’t paid its way in the world for nearly half a century, with a continuing balance-of-payments deficit.
    
    It cannot afford to divert a billion dollars a year from export earnings to provide power for the import-guzzling Auckland, which provides bugger all of the country’s exports.
    
    Like diverting part of the new petrol levy to Auckland, like national subsidies for Auckland’s city transport, this would be another case of stealing from the regions for the Auckland Super City Super Fuck-up.

  Also who is going to own it? During the election when Labour said that they would pay for the entire thing, it didn’t make long term sense. If central government owns it, do they pay local rates, if it is gifted every other city in NZ with a lousy stadium (Auckland, Hamilton, Napier, Palmy, NP) will want theirs, and who pays the up keep? Does central government keep the revenue? Does rugby pay venue hire and at what rate? These stadiums have bankrupted US cities.

    The money should be considered finite and then it is decides how to best spend that money. If money gets put into X then it gets taken away from Y.
    
    NZ is a small country with a small population. A city of 300k people can’t afford the same swish facilities as a city of 6 million.

      I think it’s more a matter of the amount of use the stadium can be put to. For example Eden Park remains empty for 80% of the year because it has limited multiuse possibilities regardless of Auckland’s population.
      Christchurch has the chance to build a facility that can be used for other stuff. For example a couple of Bruce Springsteen concerts at Mt Smart probably made far more money than a whole season of Warriors games. Eden Park can’t hold concerts.

I agree with her – I have to having said so myself, so often. I’d go a lot further. NZ has institutionalised things like promiscuity and called it ‘liberal’. The growing rates of disease and desire to increase abortion as a result are bad enough, but it also includes acceptance of people ‘using’ each other for self-gratification without dignity, respect, or responsibility. She’s also forgotten elder abuse – in fact anyone who’s weaker and vulnerable. Then there’s the ‘approved’ victims, like smokers, who are targeted on personal, political, and financial levels, fat people, et al.

But that’s the thing. She’s saying it but doesn’t really mean it. What she means is, the MSM and lobby groups have said who you’re allowed to victimise and you should fall into line. These patterns start at the top (not that I wouldn’t call the MSM more ‘the bottom’). It starts with all levels of government and it’s official government policy.

Take the note she’s ‘sickened by’. “It read, ‘this is NZ, not your country, our land, our carpark!’”

There’s one group who have been repeating that message, over and over again, continue to repeat it every day, and have every intention of repeating it in perpetuity. Maori. To everyone. I don’t actually know how she or anyone else knows that the person who wrote this note was or wasn’t Maori. But they’re allowed to say it whenever they like – and be applauded for it. They’re not supposed to ‘change’ or ‘be better’. They’re ‘special’ and in their case, it’s ‘good’, appropriate ‘pride’, ‘indigenous’.

The Folaus are allowed to be bullied and abused because they’re Christians; their faith doesn’t accord with the prevailing ethos of the gay mafia, who control government and the MSM, who are memorialised in annual porn parades, 14 hour penis parties, and rainbows painted on the road – or on All Black jerseys.

From the ‘top’ of NZ, bullying has been ‘normalised’. Local and central government and the MSM issue edicts to the population, against the will and wishes of that population (who are supposedly tyrannous), and then abuse them for not liking or accepting it. Might is right. Power and money determines who is ‘right’, not ethics, integrity, not democratic will, and certainly not ‘tolerance’. Anyone disagreeing is ‘bad’ and deserves punishment on any and every level.

There is only one possible outcome to that and it’s being demonstrated the world over. There are ‘sickening’ notes on cars or people driving those cars down crowded footpaths. For all the arguments about the US gun lobby, London has outstripped New York for murders with knives. There’s a proliferation of ‘victims’ in every house, workplace, school, on every street as everyone grasps for every bit of power over their own circumstance that they can get – because that’s all it’s about. Power of one group to impose their will on others who disagree, by manipulation or force – and at the individual level, it’s not ‘civilised’ and never will be.

NZ used to be famous for honestly ‘calling a spade, a spade’. Now it’s the global example of blind, institutionalised hypocrisy, living in a marketed fantasy of ‘goodness’. That would be typical. The greatest strength is usually also the greatest weakness; pride goes before a fall.

      AI (not artificial insemination), smarter rule based software, robotics are all aimed at removing work–less paid work: more profit. Sometimes repetitive work is desirable for the lesser abled. They used to be known as factory workers or in a village, farm hands. Now we are displacing knowledge workers like accountants–many lawyers are for the chop too. There is a natural unchangeable population ability profile so an increasing number of people are at risk of long term employment loss.
      
      We cannot remove (yet) the lesser abled from society. Others may move to alternative employment but the rush to automate makes their prospects poor too. How many baristas/km² are needed as alternative employment? Somehow these people are going to need to be fed and cared for. Logically those profiting from the capital/labour substitution are going to have to help fund that. By offshoring their profits they show where their loyalties lie: to their bank balances alone.

    You need a certain amount of “struggle” or “weight on your shoulders” for your life to remain sane. I agree.
    If your life is certain (through universal income or other such guaranteed income) then you lose your “edge” over time and grow dull. Your life loses its purpose.
    On the other hand, too much “struggle” will crush the life out of you. It’s a balancing act.
    I suspect that when society largely solves its problems, the people will invent more to keep themselves occupied. Such is the nature of man.

    But you can vary hydro generation storage a little (NZ hydro storage is low compared with the likes of Norway), but thermal (gas and coal storage) can be as variable as you want.
    
    The key to electrifying the road system is gas or coal thermal generation to meet demand peaks and to provide flexibility.
    
    The Labour-Green fools have, however, set NZ on a course for power shortages of a type last seen decades ago.
    
    Next time it won’t only be home lighting, heating, hot water, that are effected, but transport as well. Who is going to keep ambulance, fire engine, and hospital batteries charged? Will mobile standby generation with expensive imported fuel even be allowed under the Labour-Green fanatic anti-gas, anti-petrol policy?
    
    Add to coming blackouts the telephone system, now that it largely been incorporated into the fibre network. Modems, computers and TVs will be dead during the blackouts.
    
    (In the old power blackouts, the telephone network kept working with standby plants able to provide the tiny electrical current that goes down copper phone lines).
    
    In short, the coming Labour-Green caused power blackouts will be worse than those endured in NZ decades ago.

  These higher taxes and gas prices, not to mention any rises in mortgage rates, will force people to cut back on their discretionary expenditure.
  This will surely hit the bars and cafes that seem to be doing do well at the moment. I swear that a mug of beer in Tokyo at 500 yen ($NZ6.50) has got to be better value than the $NZ9 you typically pay in Auckland.
  Besides, the atmosphere of an izakaya is more to my liking.

  Someone who has recently purchased a $1M+ home in Auckland, can eat through their debt/value ratio much faster than if inflation stayed low.

Two companies have been fined $200,000 each for creating false certificates for imported steel mesh they were selling in NZ.

The fake certificate indicated the steel complied with standards for an NZ earthquake zone.

The Radio NZ report linked to below doesn’t tell you the ownership of the two companies: NZ Steel Distributor, which imported the steel from China; and Timber King, which sold it.

Yong Liu owns 75 per cent of NZ Steel Distributor, and Wengiu Liu owns 25 per cent.

Wengiu Liu owns 45 per cent of Timber King, Nannan Gong owns 45 per cent, and NZ Liu Family Trust owns 10 per cent. The stakes are held through Three Brothers Group.

All the owners are of Auckland.

    The Korean delegates are all smiles, but there is nothing tangible to report yet.
    At least North and South are meeting and talking. That alone is a positive step.
    I like the way the North Korean leader took the South Korean President’s hand and they both crossed over the symbolic border together. It’s a good start.
    The real follow-up will be the meeting with President Trump scheduled for (maybe) June.

We oldies learn another acronym: Terfs (for “trans-exclusionary radical feminists”).

A feminist group accused of being Terfs is “A Woman’s Place UK” (WPUK). Transgender activists have even been criticising Quakers for hosting a WPUK meeting.

Helen Drewery, head of witness and worship for Quakers in Britain is reported in the Telegraph as saying: “There are Quakers on both sides of this situation and we acknowledge feelings are running high. We want to provide space for free and honest discussion to enable understanding.”

On the web site, Mumset, which says it is “by parents for parents”, posters allege aggression by transgender activists. This post was on 10 March:

An interesting question arises for those using genealogy DNA sites, such as Ancestry.

The former police officer arrested in California this week suspected of being a serial killer and rapist, was detected from DNA.

Apparently police matched DNA from a crime site or victim with his DNA through a genealogy site.
