Woke up this morning and there was no gas.
“No gas!” I shrieked! “No gas! No gas! No facking gas.”
“Ring Jacinda,” I thought, “I read on Kiwibog it’s all her fault. Silly little girl… ”
Ring-ring-ding-a-ling …
“Prime Minister?”
“Morning William,” she said, “How can I help?”
“There’s no gas,” I gasped in indignation, “No facking gas. Have they had three strikes…?”, I whimpered.
“No strikes recently, and they’ve had plenty of time,” she replied.
“That’s what I thought,” I responded, “But according to Kiwibog…” my voice trailed off, “It’s all your fault.”
“Look, Uncle William,” she said sternly, “You know they’re a clutch of gasbags.”
“And windbags too,” I answered meekly, “We’ll just have to get cracking building wind turbines.”
“Talking about crackling,” she said, “Pass a ten dollar note in front of that Rar-rar fellow, and tell me if he can see anything beyond the end of his nose.”

The Singapore meeting is being dissected by many intelligent observers overseas, as well as ruby lips on Garner. She doesn’t like Trump merely because he is Trump; an attitude you would expect from an air head. As a businessman Trump will want the best deal for America.

      But what makes you think that he isn’t, except for your refusal to accept that he might.
      
      I’m not all that sanguine about the short term outcomes – North Korea has made and broken many agreements. But this time Kim is personally invested in these potential deals, if they are seen to fail that could have consequences beyond the norm. Of course he can control a lot of what the NK population learns, but perhaps not as thoroughly as his predecessors.
      
      My view is that we should grant trump a good deal of leeway, he’s approached this differently and even if it fails he’s done no worse than any of his predecessors. And if he succeeds, all kudos to him. So far, interesting and there’s apparent progress, but I’m going to wait to see if there’s real progress before getting all laudatory or critical.

    Trump will win again. When Trump wins the world will win on this one. A deal is good for US/World and good for the people of NK.
    
    If Hillary was involved in a deal with NK the outcome would be NK to “halt” its nuclear program in exchange for $50 billion payment, with a 10% cut back to the Clinton Foundation.
    
    If Obama it would be a $50 billion payment to NK, talks scheduled to halt nuclear research, a NK book deal for Obama worth $50 million and some NK spying against his political opponents on the side.

The night she didn’t he looked like s—t as he had to broadcast on our TV, live from the USA, that Trump was elected. I will always remember the look on his face. Took a while to stop laughing.   I&O: It baffles and frustrates me that there is so much in the news about something that hasn’t happened yet.
  Don, Kim and their respective teams turned up well early for the meeting, and that tells me there’s a lot of “ducks on the pond” activity going on, but not a mention of that – just endless speculation about what might or might not come out of today’s meeting.
  It is also frustrating to notice the commentators who ought to recognise how world-changing a positive outcome could be, but are hoping the talks fail so their jaundiced view of Trump can be vindicated.

The reason why NZs self appointed Dictator Peters decided to renege on dumping the “Three Strikes Law” was obvious.
Peters has “Three Strikes” Recorded against him yet he is now running NZ.
Lest we forget .Hunua. Tauranga ,North Auckland. He got the bums rush by the electors and a dont come Monday.
Even worse he is indirectly suing NZs taxpayers who had the temerity to dump him.
Go figure .Only in NZ could such a travesty of justice be given legs.
Maybe the common sense Judge who is in charge of Dictator Peters claim for hurty feelings throws his allegations out,and stops laughing to think that a ratbag like Peters could even have hurty feelings.

    He was vastly rude to Guyon this morning. It was hilarious, and afterwards Guyon read out a text claiming that he was so partisan that he should be fired and work for Fox instead! Guyon, who most of us here think is pretty partisan the other way. Even he thought the text was funny.
    
    But when faced with the aggressive and rude Little, I guess anyone could sound ‘anti’.
    
    I just wonder how Little and Peters even manage to talk – they are so similar in their attitude and lack of any polite communication skills.

  Possibly there is other ‘tension’ between Winston and Andy. Andy is supposed to deliver Winston the promised ‘Waka Hopper’ law but it seems to be moving rather slowly. This must be causing Winston some agitation so perhaps he has responded by vetoing ‘three strikes’ abolition.
  I just had a thought – the second strike prisoners and third strike prisoners must be rather disappointed. They would have assumed ‘three strikes’ was a virtual dead duck and hence would be out of prison quicker.

Cindy’s abortion law change is likely to be another thing that will not succeed because of NZF. I wonder if she will have a conversation with Winston first or make the same mistake Little made. I cannot see Peters supporting more liberal abortion law than what we have already.

  It might have a chance if National decided to treat it as a conscience vote.
  
  Assuming Labour+Greens were were all votes in favour, they’d only need to persuade 7 National MPs to get it across the line, which wouldn’t be difficult. The bigger challenge would be in persuading Simon Bridges to allow it as a conscience vote to begin with.

    I went to Simon’s meeting in the Hutt.
    That’s EXACTLY what he said, that he would make it, along with the euthanasia law, a conscience vote (I believe, if memory serves, he had already instructed Nat. MP’s this on the euthanasia bill).
    Just because the MSM refuse to report it, doesn’t mean he didn’t do it.
    BTW, at this meeting the MSM reporters sat outside, banging their gums together, to each other, waiting for the formal interview, they (as far as I could see) NEVER set foot inside the hall, so wouldn’t know what he said.

Our print media is struggling for relevance because many purchasers merely skip over the biased political content and look for the sales, especially on Saturdays.     Sadly there would probably be more than 7 Nat MPs who would support more liberal abortion laws. All 5 Nat MPs on a select committee would not support a mother petition that by a mother that parents be notified when their underage children got abortions.
    
    This mother’s daughter got a secret abortion. The abortion was botched so she is not able now to have a child and she attempted suicide. Her parents did not find out about the abortion until after the attempted suicide.

      I want Bridges et al to explain to me the procedure and steps whereby the legal responsibility for a child is taken off of the parents and given to someone else and then after the deed is given back to the parents.
      
      Who exactly is the person who takes it away?
      To my mind, the parents have a case against that person?

  Don’t put all the blame on Andrew Little for this 3-Strikes fiasco, Chuck Bird. Yes, the repeal of 3-Strikes was his ‘baby’ (if you’ll excuse the word in this week of sensitivity). But Jacinda Ardern is Leader of the Labour Party, and it was her job to get coalition-partner Peters on-side.
  
  The PM has shown inexplicably weak leadership on the 3-Strikes issue. And that failure has left egg all over the face of the Federation of Labour’s former leader (and her own Party’s former Leader) Andrew Little. What a total waste of a colossal amount of time and money by our Justice Minister, preparing for repeal of legislation (purely because it was brought in by the National/Act government) that was ultimately stillborn through lack of his own government’s support. If Andrew Little is too lazy or arrogant to check this basic requirement, he is not up to the job. If he has been promoted beyond his capability, even Jacinda must realise now that he has to go from the role.

    I would take bets that there is no one in prison for driving without a licence only. They would have been comitting a much more serious offence while not having a licence eg repeated drink driving. The Police would have tacked on the driving without a licence charge because they have to. This is a case of never letting the truth get in the way of a good story.

        Firstly, he made the observation that there were only three third strikers and he then proceeded to trivialise their offending.
        
        He failed to mention any single one of the second strikers identified by DPF.
        
        Somewhat begrudgingly, he eventually acknowledged that there were some in prison who should stay there and have the key thrown away.
        
        He then stated that there were 500 people in jail for driving without a licence. He was questioned on that and asked how people could go to jail for driving without a licence. He said that if they do it often enough, a prison sentence will eventuate. He failed to mention that in these circumstances, they are probably not charged with driving without a licence but are being charged with disqualified driving – usually on multiple charges having acquired a healthy list of convictions.
        
        Mark Richardson suggested that maybe these people have difficulty with respect for the law to which Williams countered that this was not so and, somehow, the government should procure a drivers licence for them and all the problems would go away.
        
        Williams then attributed the transgressions to the fact that public transport is not necessarily available – impliedly suggesting that the drivers were really just simply going to get the groceries, go shopping or go to work. His trivialisation of the issue was so astounding as to destroy any credibility whatsoever that he may ever have had on these matters.

A large amount of money from the pockets of you and I into his hands was always going to be the result. Perhaps those who demanded the Police intervene should be held responsible for this too.     What rights have been breached? Hager published material that he knew had been illegally obtained or gave credence to that opinion. He didn’t originate the material that others claim was their property. He made money from the sale of it. Don’t the Police have a duty to enforce inquiries in those circumstances? Is possible theft and passing it on now covered by journalistic privilege?

        Define stuff up in these circumstances. The Police frightened and annoyed Hager? So? That’s the fate of anyone turned over by the Police on suspicion. Property got damaged? Normal in Police raids using reasonable force. Police arrived before dawn? Common practice so that evidence is undisturbed.
        
        Hager put himself in jeopardy by not respecting other peoples’ property rights. He put his ability to make money from publishing emails, from a source that had to have obtained them unlawfully either by theft or receiving them, against common decency and the law. The source cannot claim he did not know where they came from–the source knew he did not originate them. Hager does not claim that the source originated them either.

Andrew Little on Three Strikes, 1 November 2017:

New Justice Minister Andrew Little will scrap the controversial three strikes law, reports Newshub political editor Patrick Gower.

The law means third-time serious offenders get the maximum sentence with no chance of parole.

Appearing on the AM Show on Wednesday, Gower said Mr Little was determined to cut policies he doesn’t like.

    I notice a change in the media’s coverage of the Loon Kim, up to now in their reports of the Trump/Kim relationship there has been practically no real coverage of or the context of the evil regime and how it operates.It’s all been covered like a personal duel between the two egos.
    
    Trump shakes his hand and now the media suddenly start reporting about how repressive North Korea is! As if to say / imply , hey Trump coseys up to tyrant.

Just had the misfortune to watch todays question time.

Peters who obviously has the same speech coach as Steve Hansen was virtually impossible to understand.

The speaker was true to form and allowed Peters to run parliament with a few half hearted “orders”. It was pointless National turning up as Simon was ignored.

Both Labour and NZ First were in full damage control over the 3 strikes so they are very worried.

What a sorry sack of shit we have for a Govt.

A few months ago, on my mate’s farm, I saw a ewe defaecate on a loose cow pat and the ball of excrement ran down hill. It was a slimeball. That slimeball reminded me of Hager. It was repulsive.
But today I read about the police’s apology to the slimeball. It was sobering reading.
Nobody, not even a cock sucking slimeball, should have been subject to the police’s despicable search tactics for which they will now spend megabucks in taxpayers’ dollars in damages.
The story moved me. I went to the cenotaph, bowed my head, and said “you fellows did not die in vain.” No civilisation could ever subject a citizen to the dreadful unwarranted search tactics inflicted on Hager, even though that slimeball is the lowest species of mankind.
If the apology had not come the man who would supply our police with brown shirts, to replace their present uniform, would make quite a few dollars.
Our’s is not a police state. Rejoice, even though the beneficiary of this decision is a prize cnut.

  Foreign investment can greatly benefit a country, but permitting Chinese (or other foreigners) take our water like this is a colonial sell-out.
  
  Taking water from the ground and bottling it as the bottom of the scale of “value added”.
  
  To fill the unskilled jobs, the Chinese will no doubt want low-wage Asian immigrants.
  
  Our politicians are turning New Zealanders into serfs. They have sold us out. Many voters likely thought NZ First might have opposed such deals.
