Yeah – well I suppose there is enough spare time going at the moment to squeeze in a second job if you’re keen enough !

Maybe he can’t afford his first home on his modest pay packet either !

    On the other hand all those ‘deadwood’ pruned from parliament by national will be missing out on some nice cushy numbers ( some of course do put in a lot of effort). Im thinking Foss will be looking to being elected ( gasp) to a local council

I hope that is where the similarity ends. Merkel’s Soft approach to immigration has given rise to extreme right wing politics across Europe. It is a more subtle than Hitler for sure but the effect on a German dominated Europe is the same.

Sebastian Kurz and Kim Jong Un both make Ardern look old. If Kurz and Ardern were at a conference together then the media wouldn’t confuse Ardern with Canadian PM Zoolander’s wife. They’d wonder why Kurz had brought his mum with him.

Oh great, just what we need. Another young career politician who would fit right in with either National or Labour, makes no difference.

Not surprised to learn from his Wikipedia page that he was formerly an Auckland University student president.

  @ New Zealand Last You clearly know nothing about Simeon Brown. He comes from an underprivileged family in South Auckland and has worked hard to get where he’s at. He was the president of a student club at Auckland University, not of the student union. (I know you didn’t say he was the president of AUSA, but it’s still worth clarifying as it shows he’s not like so many student politicians who then inevitably end up as Labour MPs.) He did a law and commerce degree before working in banking and then transitioning to politics. There’s no way in the world he would fit into the Labour Party as he is thoroughly conservative: he’s a National Party man through and through. Don’t make assumptions about him fitting equally into Labour or National based purely on his age.

    A law and Commerce degree surely means a great start to a career till his mid 30s.

Cookie cutter politicians. Boring.

Honestly, the right of the spectrum is wiiiide open for an actual right wing politician in the traditional sense, certainly they would never occupy the centre majority, but just as our current Activist Government is pulling extremely hard left, there is an ever larger vacuum for what the Media love to call the ‘Extreme Right’.

Takes just one person with wit to bury Jacinda, Winston, the whole sorry lot of them and half of National too.

The ‘extreme right’ would be the general world view of my dad’s generation. It’s all relative. National today would be well to the left of today’s US Democrats.

I know a hell of a lot of National Party voters.

Without exception, Simon Bridges, they vote National reluctantly, not enthusiastically. Get them enthusiastic.
