  The decision has been through a process and we consulted with our coalition partners. Winston hasn’t said nyet (yet). The Greens didn’t say anything, they just smiled and handed around the cookies. The rest of cabinet didn’t oppose it because they’d forgotten to turn up.

  This is what I have heard about today’s announcement;
  Following on from the PR successes of name merging brands like Brangelina & Kimye, and to signal in a new level of cooperation and closeness, the coalition are asking all media to not use the term Labour-led when referring to the government, but instead the single word ‘Jacinston’.
  A Labour spokesperson said this morning this was not the first time this branding had been used in politics and pointed to the success in the USA of Billary.
  The trade mark has been registered and merchandise, including t-shirts, caps, coffee cups are being printed as we sleep. (they’re being produced in China)

Project Twin Streams has just ended it’s $38 million dollar project, and they tallked about the genesis of the Eco City and of the Twin Streams as Agenda 21 initiated after the international Rio conferences. Dermot Nottingham has not acted alone in his actions taken against many people, including harassment and defamation via laudafinem.com and in a number of legal proceedings, some of which have been described as abuses of process, vexatious and more by various judges.

In April Nottingham was found guilty at a jury trial of five charges of criminal harassment and two charges of breach of non-publication orders (suppression). He was sentenced in July to the maximum one year of home detention and ordered not to use the Internet.

But he hasn’t been acting alone. A number of others have been closely associated with him and his attacks and harassment of judges, lawyers, politicians, business and business people and many individuals.

Associates include Cameron Slater, Earle McKinney, Marc Spring, Phillip Nottingham.

I attended a debate put on by Tim Macindoe on Friday on Seymour’s End of Life Choice Bill. It appears that Seymour lost the debate as far more of the undecided changed to opposing the bill than supporting it.

It is also worth noting that 77% preferred the matter to be decided by a binding referendum while only 16% preferred it to be decided by MPs alone.

I was delighted by both the attendance (approximately 300 people) and the atmosphere at my monthly forum at Cafe Agora in Frankton this morning.

The subject was the End of Life Choice Bill that passed its 1st Reading in New Zealand Parliament late last year, and the speakers in favour were the Bill’s architect David Seymour MP and Dr Jack Havill, with Simon O’Connor MP and Dr Lara Hoskins of the Waikato District Health Board’s palliative care team putting the case against.

The second half of the meeting allowed members of the audience to ask questions and convey their views, and many took that opportunity with some impassioned contributions.

A survey at the start of the meeting indicated that 27% of those present

were in favour of the bill, 51% were opposed, and 22% were undecided.

A further survey at the conclusion of the meeting indicated that 31% of audience members were in favour of the bill, 60% were against and 9% remained undecided.

A number of people indicated that they were associated with organisations that have been actively involved in the debate on this issue.

At the conclusion of the meeting 16% of people indicated their preference for the issue being decided by MPs only, 77% preferred the matter being decided by a public referendum, and 7% were undecided on that question.

Yes it was back to the future last night at Westpac Stadium. In 2003 same venue England with 13 men v All Blacks leading 15-13 a few minutes to go . Carlos Spencer seemed he never heard of a drop goal to win the match didnt even try. 15 Years later Virtually same situation seems our circa $3,000,000 potential earner per season in France, Bowden Barrat also never heard of a drop goal to win the match.To rub it in comparable scene in 2007 World Cup Daniel Carter also fughed up.Nuff said.

  Why, next time are 20 points up in a Test, just resist the temptation to go for more meaningless tries but instead practice drills where the team gets the kicker into the slot for a dropkick … and does that for the rest of the game.
  
  Drop-kicks are important – they won the World Cups of 1995 and 2003 and it was a Carter dropkick in 2015 that gave the All Blacks some breathing space then.

This morning on National Radio Insight – the parent / grandparent immigration category.

Not much mention in the item about the offspring going back to look after them. Hard decision but where are their priorities?

For example Professor Levy from the UK says all the rest of the extended family is in the UK, but she wants her elderly mother here.

However, the government should be giving some policy indication and refund the application money they are holding, even if the application remains as a placeholder.

NZFirst is against reopening the category and we know they are running the country these days.

I am forever amused about all the talk around Helen Clark being a great leader. Bullshit. She wasnt.
Let me explain.

Great leaders ensure there is a succession plan. So great military leaders of old ensured that if they were killed on the battle field another of their number would step up to execute the battle plan or change it if necessary.

Great leaders ensure they have a succession plan to leave a legacy long after they are gone so people say the new leader is a product of the old of old leader.

Great leaders listen to their troops and recognise their strengths and weaknesses and work to develop their strengths and over come their weaknesses.

Great leaders get the best out of their people and listen to and take good advice and realise the leader isnt an expert in everything.

Clark did none of that. Worst she made sure when she left there was no successor or succession plan so her departure triggered a 9 year hiatus withe Party lurching from one crisis to another and its still doing so.

And finally the one person Clark did cultivate has proved to be the most incompetent Prime Minister is the countries history.

Great leader. No. Command and Control Freak. Yes.

This was probably covered in detail yesterday but I read Chris Bishop arranged a visit to Christchurch police station but Stuart Nash got wind of this and told the station to not let Bishop in. Bishop had a wasted trip to Christchurch. Very sinister politics by Labour!

  I’m not sure of the current rules, but ministers are generally informed if an MP wants to visit a government site. There was some fuss under the previous government about the corrections ministers allegedly interfering with MPs’ visits to prisons.
  Probably a process problem rather than anything sinister.

    Per Chris Bishop, he “approached the police in April about visiting the Integrated Safety Response scheme, which was set up under National. In late June he exchanged emails with the ISR team, and confirmed a visit on July 2, when he was in the city for a justice select committee hearing. They even sent him directions and offered a car parking space. But 45 minutes before he was due to arrive, his office got a call apologising profusely, and stating that she has been requested by the Minister of Police’s office to cancel the engagement.”
    This is a pilot scheme dealing with domestic violence. The matter came to light during parliamentary debate this week.

        It seems that there is a protocol of getting Minister permission that Chris Bishop says he wasn’t aware of. However, Nash most likely knew a few days prior about the visit and could have taken a number of actions but decided to be a prick and use his authority to ban the meeting at the last minute to cause Chris Bishop maximum disruption.

        It is entirely possble that the court has requested further submissions on a particular point. There have also been instances where the court has waiting for a pending decision on a relevant issue from another jurisdiction. It is equally possible that the Supreme Court has a decision pending on a particular issue.
        
        What is not possible is any legal of the legal profession giving the court beans for keeping everyone in suspense for 12 months or a member of the court making public statements about cases in which they are involved before a decision is made. The fact that you draw adverse conclusions on the flimsiest evidence while condemning others says more about you than the so-called non caring public.

I reuse mine around the house
I don’t litter

But I do get upset at people that leave them around.
And especially the ones in Asia that throw them into their rivers and drown turtles etc.
They are the problem not us.

        Stigie – I use these plastic bags for coal. Order a few tonnes of coal, then 2 shovels full into a plastic bag, tie off and stack. Each plastic bag is just the right amount to dose up the wetback – and lets you carry coal into the house in a clean manner.
        
        Chuck it into the fire and the plastic bag disappears in a nanosecond. But remember that if you stack them outside the bags will degrade in a season if the sun gets to them !

An interesting project there draws on the mountain of old tyres to make steel-reinforced, rubberised concrete that won’t crack like regular concrete, and a rubber-gravel mix that will disperse seismic waves.

    As for young childbirth it is only recently that it’s become an issue. Somehow during the last 2 million years of our human like existance it wasn’t to much of an issue. Puberty by default means developed enough to have children. Not that anybody in NZ pays attention but based on thier death rates teenage fathers are the ones dying in absurdly larger numbers than young mothers.

The old Orange/White/Blue flag was adopted in 1928. That’s 20 years before the start of apartheid. It flew until 1994 – two years after the end of apartheid.

  What I don’t get about so-called ‘cultural appropriation’ is why it’s supposed to be bad. Does it disrespect certain cultures? If so, how and why? Is it regarded as some sort of intellectual theft? If this is asserted, how can a particular culture lay exclusive claim to it?
  What it seems to boil down to is an emotional stance which says that (a) if we wicked Westerners happen to copy, borrow, or otherwise use ideas from other cultures, then we’re in the wrong; but (b) if the situation is reversed, then that’s just fine, because those other cultures are inherently virtuous and good.
  It’s just another example of outrage and victimhood for its own sake, I suspect.

  The Coalition’s announcement today is not an act of governance. At best it is hastily-assembled, self-serving, PR material thrown out there as a desperate measure to convey an image of action and decisive leadership.
  
  Ardern’s statement is claimed to contain her Government’s so-called “Cabinet-mandated, coalition Government work plan”. It includes what she describes as “12 priority outcomes in the areas of the economy, wellbeing and Government leadership”. But viewed with even a modicum of reality and goodwill, the statement contains no more than flowery ambitions – with hoped-for results to follow.
  
  Notable for their absence are any firm yardsticks for success that will be measured against, for example:
  • resource needs, or broad budgetary requirements;
  • timeframes for each ‘priority outcome’ to be met; and
  • concrete criteria against which improvements / outcomes are to be quantified.
  
  The statement is silent on individuals or groupings who will be made responsible for bringing in each of the so-called ‘12 priority outcomes’ which can be examined here:

  For the record, I have met every PM since Rowling.
  Clark thinks Gore is a backwater hic-town, just like most of us, and I wasn’t the first to think that Burton was Jenny Shipley’s DPO. Lange near the end was consumed by alcoholism – and that was pretty sad to see.

Lead story on TV Tahi news tonight was the supposed unity between the COLL. The very next story was about the disagreement between NZF and liabore over the upcoming award bargining laws the unions are desperate to get.

Failing memory as well as asking reporters to submit a written question? That is not the Winston First we know of old as he usually barks them into submission very eloquently. Locals blocked SH2 today for 1/2 an hour to protest the COL cancelling the road upgrade to a motorway. 21 people died in the last year on 37kms of the notorious road, a busy artery between Katikati and Tauranga. One protestor yelling at the camera for ‘Phil to fix the road’ Phil Twyford stated the road was due for an upgrade with intersections being realigned and barriers fitted.

We are hastened to ask if this is an intended “benefit” to be included in ALL public service AND industry wide agreements? Likewise we must ponder the prospect of Winston First adopting the same funding model as Labour once most struggling industries find his buy in price out of reach? We might yet see him swiveling again on the regressive Labour Laws legislation. Especially since apparently “NO” NZF MP’s signed his agreement.

    Right Nostradamus it is sheer desperation that is driving the shaky good ship COL as we see that even so called “unity” was another signal the old Winston First missed completely by missing the Q&A after the big “announcement.” It is even funnier as NewShub rush to tell us : “The Prime Minister has laid out a blueprint for the coalition government for this term and potentially beyond.” Blueprint? It was even scant for a pencil sketch as the silly little girl tried so hard to blur the individual party lines. It more likely to rub the old drunk the wrong way rather than rub him out.
