We all thought Squirrel was a girl… well it turns out she is a he according to Cindys adoring fans.

I guess we will have a full media week of our mother of the nation, boy friend and squirrel.

  Arden will appear a cable shows that attract, collectively, bugger all viewers. Can you, or anyone, see her appearing with Steve Hilton or Judge Jeannine Pirro et al, on Fox ?? They dominate the airwaves. They would nail her to her poster boards. They would NOT drink the anorexic, toothy, Kool-Aid. A pity that this US city council sized country takes itself so seriously.

    I don’t mind us punching above our weight, but I am not impressed by the ‘celebrity’ aspect, she should be talking to heads of state not talking heads.
    
    Key managed both, and yes I am aware that our Jacinda was invited, where as poor old John Key was not such a star as she. (Sticks finger down throat).

National are supporting NZ First’s policy to increase the ability of police and courts to deal with shoplifters more harshly. The $billion theft from retailers needs stronger laws to clip the claws of the ‘5 finger discounters’. Simon says National believe this is a worthwhile policy to support and will do again if they deem any other policy worthwhile.

  Christchurch just had another petrol station robbery. This is going to continue until the proprietors are allowed to push back.

    I don’t know if this is every business but staff in one of the largest retail outfits are no longer even able to follow the shoplifter once they have left the shop. The chances of getting caught in this country are ridiculously low or, as you say, if caught it’s a wet bus ticket for the thief. ?

      That’s just one of the useless soundbite driven ideas that NZF are good at.
      
      They won’t have the money on them for an instant fine. They will complain about lack of process. They will most likely just get a warning because court is such a hassle. If they do go to court they will get community service which they won’t do.
      
      If anything it will increase offending. Might as well try the 5 finger discount on this $20 set of headphones because the worst that will happen is that you end up paying $30. Chances are you get away.
      
      The only way to reduce crime is to increase skin in the game.
      
      That is why 3S works. Every time they get a strike, the punishment increases – that increases the skin in the game.

        So after collecting a few Shop Lifting Infringement Notices and a few Car/Driving Infringement Notices it will be off to court to change the amount outstanding into a Community Service.
        Recently one young man managed to convert $9500 into 160 hours of Community Service that right at just a tad less than $60 an hour.
        My view is if you get to convert Fines/Infringement Notes to Community Service it should be at your going pay rate. On $25 an hour and $9500 due to the court, you get 380 hour of Comunity Service to pay it back. If you are unemployed then your pay rate is taken as the minimum wage. I wonder how the courts and their clients would react.

      Very subjective reasoning. Are Maori names off limits to non Maori to deed poll their names to get privileges.

When is a spokesperson (anyone) from National going to publicly deplore Cullen’s proposed tax on tax on tax grab? This to me is more pressing than punishing small time thieves who shoplift as opposed to big time leftie thieves like Cullen who do so in the name of “fairness!” Isn’t Cullen the ultimate amongst smug hate-ridden pricks!

  But Chris R perhaps you missed the fact this is an interim report from the TWG where even Cullen is expressing doubts about the “benefits” of CGT. Nobody believes his claim about not targeted at more tax as they do not have the ability or latitude to consider any new tax being in any way neutral. More importantly National have resisted following the MO of Labour in opposition where they barked at every thing while doing nothing to prepare for the treasury benches.
  They know old Winston First is the weakest link in the chain while also being the best spoiler within the COL as he struggles to seem relevant. Most know he and perhaps more so his party who facilitated this mess which will not easily be overlooked at the polls next election. Also at present he is simply falling back on the argument that this is a coalition Government and every move requires collective sanction. Excusing all their promises and his bottom lines.
  While pausing to reflect it is important to remember that National clearly stated that no new taxes would be needed as they moved to restore some realistic levels with tax cuts to acknowledge bracket creep. Something that many gaining bigger wage settlements are also starting understand. Likewise the great Families Package is stretched out over 3 years as a sort of thank you gift until another vote is required while already being complained about by some advocacy as not being enough.
  No National are picking their targets that abound and leaving issues where old Winston First will run interference and not interrupting him making a fool of himself as a thorn in the COL’s butt.

I would never buy a car, used or new, from Rich Prick Cullen. The smarmy bastard has zero credibility.
As for all the dreamers who believe any CGT (or whatever they want to call it) would be offset by tax reductions in other areas. Stupid!
The same applies to the pommie idiot now running Treasury. Comparing apples with apples is not in his skillset.

Can anybody tell me why, if she is the world’s Great White Hope, spreading stardust all over the globe, can I not find a single reference to Jacinda Ardern on any of the world’s major news websites? I’ve gone to CNN, the BBC, the Independent, the Guardian, the WP, the LA Times, the NY times, Fox News… and as many others I could think of, each time doing a page search for “Ardern”, and I’ve found nothing. Zilch. Zippo. Nada. Of course it can change from minute to minute, and if you were to search right this second you might turn up a reference I didn’t a short time ago, but the general point is that while the local media breathlessly reports the peripatetic princess as sprinkling stardust all over the world, nobody else seems to give a single shit.
