Man it is revealing watching Jacinda V Simon in the House. They chuck the verbal back and forth but whereas Simon sits down after an exchange with a pretty genial smile, Jacinda dumps herself back in her seat, narrows her eyes, sets her jaw and looks at him with pure hatred.

I want everyone who can be bothered to watch a feisty exchange between Simon and Jacinda in the House, but turn the sound off.

Cindy takes it personally. She needs to control herself and not make it look so obvious she is being rattled because whilst nobody watches Parliament TV, heaps of people watch the TV debates.

  Bridges really took it to her this week and she didn’t like it one little bit. He then backed up with a brilliant hardhitting address in the General Debate.
  
  The Government front bench was an utter shambles this week and I’m sure that the rot started with Ardern’s fumbling responses to Bridges’ first question on Tuesday.

        Right sooty with another two weeks of OQT to come. While it has been common for the PM to miss Thursdays for other engagements the silly little girl has to create some sort of event to keep her away. Last was a picnic or some such for as we might expect young children. Now that’s open and transparent for you by showing the country where her comfort zone is. She might also be the weakest link in the COL chain as seen by the “declaration” in the house on killing RFT for other regions. Priceless.

  Ardern thinks that, as PM, she and her comments in Parliament are entitled to greater respect and acceptance. She shows her personal feelings of antagonism at every stage, and would be a hopeless poker player.
  
  She might find that being more candid with Parliament, and with the country at large, could relieve some of the pressure that she’s struggling to handle.

    Over the years I have employed a few young women like her. You sit them down and explain that the worlds tough and sometimes everything doesn’t go your way and that you have to ride it out gracefully because just a you meet people on the way up you will also meet them on the way down and they will remember.
    This generation just doesn’t have the patience and tolerance and the grace to engage. They are all about themselves not others. It look at me look at me.

      While we’re making stupid generalisations based on age, it could be because the previous generations before them have tilted everything in their favour and refuse to accept that things like housing being 3x more expensive relative to earnings can be gotten around with ‘hard work’, yet still feel entitled to a state pension regardless of how well off they are.
      
      Funny how the response is to blame the parents for everything but how entitled younger people are. Maybe boomers and Gen Xers were just shit parents?

        It would rebound badly on the current crop of idiots as it would allow an even greater number of idiots in to dilute the left’s power base.
        
        There’d be:
        – the religious nutters of the right party
        – the free speech nutters of the right party
        – the environmental nutters of the right party
        – the anti-immigration nutters of the right party
        – the charter school nutters of the right party
        – the anti-tahr cull nutters of the right party
        – the anti-1080 nutters of the right party
        
        National would be a shrunken rump, but the number of potential coalition partners would go through the roof.
        
        Then we’d join those “oh so WOKE” European nations that (whilst utterly dissimilar) we like to bench-mark against and it’ll take 18 months of our three year election cycle to even form a government!
        
        It’ll be utter, all-consuming, hysterical-gigglefesting insane.

  What counts is what National polls, not what its leader polls. John Armstrong has not done any proper analysis of the situation. OK Andy Little was down too in leadership polls, but he neglected to mention his party was badly down too – it was the party’s poor polling, not Andy’s poor polling that led to a last minute leadership change.
  Simon Bridge’s polling can be explained by three things:
  1. He is going through a bad patch with the Jami incident. It will be forgotten nearer the next election.
  2. He is leader of the opposition, not PM, so does not have nearly as much limelight as Jacinda.
  3. The poll could be suspect. It would be interesting what other polling companies come up with.
  If the media collectively chose to, the media could easily drive up Simon’s poll up 20% and Jacinda’s down.
  The National MPs (who choose the leader) would be daft to force a leadership change on the strength of this 7% result. What counts for them is the how National polled – it was a very respectable figure given current circumstances.
  Also bear in mind that MSM would just love to see blood on the floor and some journos will try and prod National in that direction.

    Another hit job on National by stuff this morning. Saying some people in National “pored scorn” on JLR. I thought National were defending themselves against obvious lies. The corruption accusation comes to mind. The media will never report favourably about the right wing. They see left wing politics as the position of the thinker and the noble – wanting to help the poor. They fail to see that the right wing are these people too.

  Popularity under present circumstances is easy. Simon Bridges should to some degree let her bask in her popularity so she thinks things are easy. Popularity can disappear so quickly when circumstances change such of the cumulative poor decision making of the COL really hits the public in the face.

      Attacks are worth while if they cause her to misjudge. Attacks must have an impact (eg the regional petrol tax attack last week). There is no use scoring a point with no other purpose than to try and get publicity since MSM often do not ‘bite’ and only a minority will watch or listen to Question Time and the Wednesday afternoon debate. Most people are at work or doing other things. And there is probably less employer tolerance to radios being on in the workplace (at least one construction company banned radios as being a H&S hazard) and anyway they are unlikely to be tuned to Parliament. So basically it is only some retired folk who listen to Parliament.
      So those who reckon that Simon should be on the attack more are unaware of the reality of the situation – better to save the attacks for when they have the biggest impact.

    John Armstrong is trying to tell the world that National has to face up to Simon’s 7% popularity. However unlike Andy Little (who had a similar figure) National is currently polling in the 40’s% range despite there being circumstances that should be driving the figure down. It is that figure which counts, not the Leader’s popularity figure which in any case is easily influenced by the attitude of MSM journos. National MPs would be daft if they let the media lead them by the noses concerning leadership choice.

  I had to go to the top level of Clifton Terrace car park, it was full by 8.30am.
  So definitely some impact from the bus strike but probably not what they intended.
  I’ve been driving into work since the buses changed. Not worth my time to use the loser cruiser any more, what with randomly cancelled buses and the extra 15 minutes each way they take when they do turn up.
  GWRC did a really great job getting people out of cars.

    Also this morning Slater has dumped screenshots of messages with JLR from that night. Anyone with experience of nutty partners will recognize JLR’s manipulative behavior. Apparently he was scrolling through messages from 2 weeks prior when he saw the one from her that set him off, so (2 weeks later in the middle of the night) he messages her with the suggestion he’s going to top himself. Sometimes I wonder if the Children’s Commision, and the Human Rights Commision have come to the conclusion that descriminating agianst Children is OK.

Obviously this scenario mostly involves shared parenting at a distance. Stoping fathers by putting any barrier including financial ones from seeing their children must be in the children’s best interests.

    Air New Zealand advertises how they help families come together.
    
    They however charge children extra to fly. The extra costs for the service is minimal compared to what they charge.

        It’s free.
        
        I don’t send my child on flights anymore but I did for 10 years. Once the child support ended the mother kicked him out and he now lives with me.
        
        What I noticed was about 3 unaccompanied children per flight. Escorted from the gate strait to the plane. About 5 minutes max of staff time. So about $240 for 10 minutes because it’s both ends of the flight. $1440 an hour at a cost of $25 in wages.
        
        Air NZ, IE the crown is ripping children off.

Went for dinner last night over to the in-laws place at St Heliers. Pop was saying one of the benefits of the high fuel price is the decline in the number of *South Auckland hoons* using Long Drive as a racetrack, to and from Tamaki Drive.

He reckons that after about 10 at night there’s hardly a car on the road. They wouldn’t care if petrol went to 5 bucks a liter.

So the housing situation is going to get worse dispute Labour and the Coalition promising NZer’s they would fix it. The New number of housing needing to be built is now 40,000 a year with out taking into account that the 6,000 house that were supposed to be built in the first year will never be built as the Coalition have not reach 1,000 of the first year total yet. When are the voters of this country going to wake up when the Minister Phil Twyford promised the voters two years ago they would fix housing in their first term and all that has happened is the figure of what is needed is increasing instead of decreasing, with housing prices expected to rise also.

Does anyone know that basis on which the Air New Zealand / Qantas alliance was permitted by the comcom?

As a regular traveller it’s hard to see this being beneficial for me. Of course both airlines will continue to headline rates similar to today, but the number of seats at those rates will drop and the experience we’re all familiar with – a huge gap between published and actual fares – will become more frequent.

  (1) Bridges said that he took action against Ross as soon as he was made aware of the sexual harassment allegations. WhaleOil has records that prove that Bridges took action before the newsroom story made those allegations public. Slater claims this shows Bridges lied, but there is no contradiction here. Bridges did not say that the newsroom story was the first he heard of it.
  
  (2) Slater says that National is lying about what happened on the night Ross was taken to hospital. Yet the text messages and call logs he published corroborate the timeline David Fisher published in the NZ Herald yesterday.
  
  (3) Slater has, over the past few days, made it sound like Ross’ former mistress — the female MP — did something to provoke him on the night he was taken to hospital. However, he now says that what provoked Ross is that he re-read her text message from two months prior!
  
  (4) The text message that the female MP sent to Ross is definitely not OK. There is no excuse for that. However, this was a messy breakup and I expect both parties have said and done things they regret.
  
  (5) Paula Bennett sent Ross a text saying “I would like to see you to discuss a potential way through”. That sounds like National are trying to help Ross and sort things out. His response was just to cite his mental health. It sounds like Ross is the one who was not engaging constructively.

    I read a Chris Trotter article this morning and he didn’t come out and say it but he got close enough to know what he meant and that is J-L Ross has been in bed with multiple female journalists. This has been mentioned on here but not touched by the mainstream media. This has distorted the media representation of this story. The media have attacked Simon Bridges with ferocity. I think Trotter believes that Ross has been given an unfairly hard time by the media but I think they have actually been supportive of him and used him as a weapon to attack Bridges.

        You should have seen a het-up psychiatrist with the Police in tow looking for a person subject to a s.8 examination order. I reckon the psychiatrist could have had mental health issues too. Rage was not well hidden.
        
        JLR seems not to have been too bad, being discharged within the initial 5 day period. The fact that it took several days confirms that JLR satisfied the appointed examining doctors that he did need their attention. If not, he would have been discharged immediately.

    I’m sure there is some truth to Ross’ mental illness. However, that is not a get-out-of-jail-free card.
    
    In particular, Slater keeps saying that Bridges and Bennett should have gone easier on Ross due to his mental health issues. It’s not clear what he thinks they should have done, but it sounds like he thinks they should have simply let Ross stay on as an MP like nothing happened. That’s just not reasonable.

Interesting timeline shown on WO, not from him but a commenter. The “Leak” was before the angry text was sent by the “woman”. Maybe the angry text was in response to hearing that JLR was going to try and take down Bridges or the National Party with the assistance of others. Now there is a witch-hunt on for the woman.
I would think that was a separate issue. JLR had been happily playing away with no thought to the havoc he might have been creating in many other lives. Then immediately becomes a “victim” when the fire gets too hot. Telling her he was going to end it, funny how someone was able to “stop it”. How did they know where, when etc., only if the person wants to be found is that information available. A person intent on committing suicide does not let everyone know where and when. If they do that is generally just a cry for attention/help.
Have all the texts been released, perhaps the “woman” needs to release her side of the story, her anonymity has gone, I wonder whether there may be other texts which would throw a different light on what WO has chosen to publish.

In the UK the regulator (Ofcom) is to review depth of analysis and impartiality of BBC news and current affairs output.

This will be interesting to watch. BBC are rampantly and brazenly partisan in the topic of Climate Change™. It would be hard to see how any review could miss this bias.

Without any other points to attack the government on, and with many more of their MPs looking like they’ll be caught up in the nat implosion, the nats will be very, very glad that for now there’s no right-wing party they can really bleed support to.

Not a good week for seymour either. Even when his host party has allegedly corrupt leadership, “fucking useless” MPs, and sex scandals, nobody wants to jump across to what should be a permeable nat-act polling boundary.

    I don’t think they are left wing in either attitude or policy. They are however more realistic about social policy that is of benefit to the recipients whereas labour and the greens want to wallow in the feelz that they think the recipients will feel.
    
    They need to learn that welfare recipients are not grateful generally as they have come to “expect”that they get given money.
    
    Muldoon was also a politician that had a great awareness of the needs of people and tried to deliver help but wasn’t very good at it.
    
    I think Sir Bill had plans and he had set those out for the next three years and labour will avoid implementing them at any cost hence the 150+ consultancy groups being tasked to find an alternative, any alternative to Sir Bill’s plans.

      There were floppy disks in 2008 as well as hardrives. The IBM 360 had 8″ floppies and Shugart later brought that technology to the world. They were available by 1976. With two tape drives and a floppy disk it was possible to do program sorts.

    The teenage boy comment is a devils advocate comment. Society portrays their precious do no wrong daughters needing protection from evil boys. It however is not teenage girls suiciding in large numbers. There is also no 15 year old girls paying child support but there is boys that age paying.
    
    I generally don’t mention my family court issues but the topics. Paternity fraud, contraception, stealthing, suicides, health, police, court, and political discrimination, sex crimes. Etc. I have no Personel involvement in many of those subjects.
    
    It is however the case that I have advocated for men for many long years. Well recognised within NZs men’s rights and that will never change.
    
    I’m obviously aware that there is very few people who talk about men’s issues. I have even had people like you tell me it’s wrong to do so. I’ve even been told its political suicide. There is quite simply no questions in parliament about men’s issues as a result.
    
    I’m sorry I don’t meet your standards of warped, but I believe in a society that is not corrupt, and one that does not hate men.

I see Ardern hosted a street party for some ‘Kiwibuild’ families today.
Did she pay ?
Did Labour pay for the free advertising ?
Did the taxpayer pay ?
If the latter, how about allocating some of the surplus for hard working taxpayers who buy their own homes, pay their own mortgages, maintain their properties, plan their families etc.

I see the Herald has gone full Labour

Huge positive right up about first 14 homes, even though they aren’t ready yet. Also no mention that they were already underway by a private developer who Labour just paid off. Herald also claimed it was a “NZ first”

I notice the couple interviewed seemed to be quite young, no kids and now have a four bedroom house. Pity about the poor families who can’t find anywhere modern and large enough.

Also is $649K for a first home really “affordable”?

  It is when it is presumably subsidised by the taxpayer? I doubt you could build it for that, let alone the cost of the land. They were the lucky couple who won the ballot for the first Kiwibuild house – a knockdown price for the marketing promotion of Twitford’s amazeballs Kiwibuild scheme.

What is this y242 (phonetic spelling) legislation Maori Activist Sacha McMeeking refers to? Possibly it is in its infancy at this stage? but it could be the legislation that Maori hope will help them realise their ultimate goal of restoring NZ land ownership to a model of Maori guardianship?

I was unaware of the deep seated hatred some Iwi leaders and Maori academics possess.

Their hatred for whitey knows no bounds.

Listen to Mark Levin interviewing Patrick Michaels, a senior fellow in environmental studies at the Cato Institute. Michaels is a well respected climate change skeptic and gives a fascinating insight into the ‘fake’ models used by governments for climate modelling. He notes that there are 32 models used around the world – only one (the Russian one) bears any relationship to reality. All the others are ‘parameterised’ – which he translates as ‘fudged’. He also discusses the capture of science by governments and the need for publicly funded science bodies to produce work that is acceptable to the government or does not conflict with government policies.
A somewhat lengthy interview at 40 minutes, but well worth a listen if you find the climate hysteria an anathema.
