    Given the hateful bile being published by most media that says conservatives are racist, misogynist, selfish and ignorant people will stop telling strangers that they will vote for conservative candidates because no one likes those labels.
    
    The Trump campaign instead asked more subtle questions and learnt which states where really going down to the wire and campaigned there. Clinton stuck to the percieved wisdom and campaigned in states she was not going to win. Remember how people wrote of Trump for campaigning in seats where most polls had him 5-10% behind? Turns out his campaign understood the reality.
    
    Roy Morgan were polling last week, One are this week. If all three polls are putting Labour ahead I’d suggest that National not panic. Bridges is growing as leader and Ardern and her Government looks increasingly incompetent.

  Why did the Newshub/Reid Research poll, February 2019, display no result for Winston Peters, under “Preferred Prime Minister”? – after all, he did negotiate himself to be current Deputy Prime Minster and has been Acting Prime Minister and in the previous poll was rated under “Preferred Prime Minister”.
  
  Could he in fact be less than Simon Bridges?

I note there was no mention of it on the Herald or Stuff.
The video is on News Hub.

He promised that National will repeal any Capital Gains Tax and will index tax rates.

    That was one of his best lines; he was attacking the Greens over their refusal to prioritise the Kermadec Sanctuary legislation, but said that “Marama Davidson is more concerned with the C-word than seafood.”
    
    All in all, a very good speech from Bridges, in contrast to the dull, vague speech from the PM, and Winston Peters’ rant, where he mocked Bridges’ accent, and suggested that both Bridges and Paula Bennett aren’t real Maori.

      KS:I am not a fan of Simon Bridges as National Leader but stress that he performed very well yesterday and can hold his head high compared to the smutty Peters and the “giggling gertie” beside him who claims to be a fair and honest PM. The sooner this ridiculous chimera of a Government is displaced the better for us all. They have one primary product…tax! This is in response to their envy sodden supporters and their hateful appraisals of the “rich pricks” they seem to believe are everywhere.

      Hopefully he does and that will kill the remaining 2.9%. Remember at least some of his supporters will be hit be the CGT on shares and many will have kid who own SMEs who will hit by the CGT when they sell their SME.
      As I understand the TWG are spilt on the CGT model with Cullen taking the hardest line.
      
      Hope this is right and the COL go with his recommendations.
      
      IMHO they don’t realise the numbers of people who will be opposed some who wont even be hit by the CGT will oppose it on philosophical grounds and some millennials will oppose it on what happens to them if they are successful in the future and get clobbered by CGT when they build up a financial asset and 33% get stolen off them by the STATE.

Anyone notice the TV3 Tova O’Brien news show at 6pm Monday night when discussing the latest poll results?

Images of Bridges were all unflattering, licking ice-cream off his face and an image of his eyes closed at Waitangi giving the appearance he was asleep. Whilst images of Adern were of her laughing and smiling as she dished up a barbeque at Waitangi that someone else had cooked.

You can’t tell me TV3 are not intentionally choosing to use unflattering imagery of Bridges whilst only showing positive images of Adern.

The same happened the night before on the TV3 news when they dug out a 25 year-old clip of Bridges when he was a teenage schooboy talking about gay marriage.

And then last night they screened an item from Parliament where Winston Peters had mocked Bridges pronunciation of the word China. Why did TV3 consider it newsworthy to screen that, if not to further their active attempts to belittle Bridges?

Three nights in a row TV3 have attacked Bridges on prime time TV. What can we expect tonight?

There is not even a semblance of impartiality with TV3 and Tova O’Brien. They love to hold everyone else to account but its time now that TV3 and O’Brien were made to explain their own proven political bias.

  O’Brien has made it clear that she’s gunning for Bridges to be replaced as National Party leader. It started with some vitriolic, over the top comments on the expenses leak last year, continued with the JLR clusterf*ck, and has ramped up this week as Chris2 notes.
  
  O’Brien has lost any sense of objectivity, and her bosses at Newshub need to tell her to pull her head in or their few remaining advertisers will vote with their budgets.

      It’s not a matter of being “more friendly towards National” DigiNap, but there should at least be an attempt at balance.
      
      Take Sunday night for example; they slagged off Bridges for attending Big Gay Out on the basis of a comment he had made about homosexuality when he was 17. However there was no mention that at age 17, Jacinda Ardern was still a practising Mormon; she only left the church in her early 20’s.
      
      It used to be subtle bias, but now there is no pretence at subtlety. Newshub’s political journos seem to have decided that Simon Bridges is not fit to be the leader of the National Party, and they will do whatever it takes to have him replaced.

      It’s ramped up considerably from the anti-Key rhetoric Chris. Her coverage of the expenses leak was almost visceral in its nastiness, and that continued on when the Ross saga broke. I can only presume that she was being fed a very biased view of Bridges by Ross, for whom she has gone into bat; quite why, I don’t know.

        The simple answer KS is they see Simon Bridges as the real threat to Ardern’s COL – as he is. O’Brien is the puppet, and behind her is a woman named Pip, a NewsHub producer. They absolutely know that Labour is not fit for purpose, is likely to crash and burn, and in the process the incompetence of its leaders will be there for all to see.

        I think Radio New Zealand, National Programme is great. Don’t see it as lefty. The national programme actually treats news as interesting, instead of just a commodity to be dished out.
        Heaps of painful maori correctness of course, but I can cope with that.

        Is nauseating. As one informed commentator once said TV1 is brain dead and that was a few years ago and nothing has changed.
        The news team is infested with pinkoes

        There presentation is more of a social lecture than informing the viewer of the news.
        National radio is no better.
        Fortunately Col under Dear Leader is heading for oblivion next year. Because

    I think that wishing for an impartial media is a lost cause. National will need a strategy for direct communication. Let’s face it. With a couple of exceptions, journalists are both biased and totally useless. And in the case of RNZ, also riddled with suffocating correctness.

    Seems to be the only logical reason for Winston’s nasty outburst against Simon Bridges yesterday – Winston predicted National would chew through two leaders before 2020 and does not want to risk looking an idiot.
    Hope this is the topic of Paula’s Q3 today – Jacinda’s attitude on Winston’s nasty speech especially given her body language during it. But then Q3 is so wide that preparing for all likely topics would be beyond Jacinda’s capabilities. I doubt Jacinda would find Q2 much fun either. A short notice kindergarten visit?

  The poll was a red herring, no way are the Labour idiots way more popular than media darling Cindy. The margin of error in that poll was +3%, take 3 off Labour, add 3 to Cindy and 3 to National and everyone is locked on 44%.     I am now convinced that the NewsHub poll was a political hit job on National. The timing of the release – the day before Parliament resumed – is the clue.
    
    There has also been a huge increase in the number of Labour attack trolls on Natuonal’s Facebook postings. By my estimate they have increased four-fold.
    
    It is quite clear that Labour and the media are working closely together. National needs to target all meetings between Ministers, ministerial staff members, and anyone even remotely involved in the media.

What is it between Newshub’s Tova O’brien and her obviously paranoid hate of Simon Bridges.
Is is related to her earlier, and probably current, very personal dealings with Jamie Ross.
We are led to believe that she has copies of all Ross’s emails (as does Peters of course).
Is it the old idiom that attack is better than defence?
Has she something to hide ?
Will it emerge in court should the Police take action against one of Ross’s paramours.
There is a suggestion that there are other media personnel in Parliament who have much to keep quiet over in the hope it will blow over – it won’t if O’Brien retains her current vitriol.
Very sad case of meeism.

You cannot keep putting wages up and expect your export markets to keep paying the higher prices.
At some stage they will just say
F NZ produce, its too dear.
Then we will have no export income
the same applies to Tourism.
We are already known as having high prices for beer and coffee.

Its better to reduce our costs – housing, groceries, consumer items, tax so that we all have more money to spend.

  It’s not just export though. You can’t expect to get more real term income doing the same job for 20 odd years. Unless some other sectors of the economy has increased productivity and their wealth can be redistributed. I heard I guy on the radio bemoaning the fact that driving a truck now paid no more in real terms than 20 years ago. Why would it? Unless you drive a bigger or faster truck.

  Without a massive increase in productivity nothing will improve as we are just trying to cut the same dollar into more pieces.
  
  One aspect of productivity increase is education and this government is determined to reduce that as well.
  
  labour does not and cannot support business. It is anathema to them. As an example, when H&S started to ramp up during h1’s reign of terror, insurance companies brought in a policy that would cover the fines imposed, and they were substantial, if a company was found guily of a breach.
  
  H1 did not like this so they changed the law to stop the fine being insured as she wanted a company to really suffer. Remember, many of these breaches were minor in may cases. Luckily, the courts saw what sshe was up to and so massively reduced the fines but increased the “awards” made which insurers were still able to cover.

  New Zealanders will not like paying tax on capital gains. So they will invest in areas where capital gains are not taxed. Capital gains on the family home will not be taxed. Therefore people will invest in family homes. From which it follows that the price of family homes will rise. That will be at the expense of, for example, Kiwisaver, where the gains are easily identifiable and easily taxed. So retirement savings will reduce. It’s obvious.
  If there is to be a CGT, then, as with GST, it should be across the board if it is to be fair. But it won’t be, because to tax the increase in value of the family home would be political suicide.

    However, overall demand will drop as people will not want to own more than one house.
    
    There are big tax advantages in investing in multiple properties, so long as your primary ‘reason’ is for income not growth. This advantage will be gone if a CGT is introduced, and demand will likely drop.

  There is a lot of money invested in rental properties. Investors are competing with people buying their own homes. Anything that discourages investment in residential property will mean lower prices, even if most properties are excluded.
  
  The problem with a CGT is that it equally discourages investment in the share market. People have to put their money somewhere. So they may just stick with property.

    This will be interesting, we have the PIE structure, and direct share investment.
    
    The IRD has never been able to figure out the best way to tax sharemarket profits. Part of the reason that made it difficult is the lack of a CGT in the first instance.
    
    They couldn’t get their head around the fact that people could make money by investing in something but pay no tax on returns… Like property!

      Profits are already taxed. If share prices go up, that is either due to retained profits already taxed or expected future profits that will be taxed. Putting an extra tax directly on the share price increase is double taxation of the same gain.
      
      This is very basic financial literacy and for the government to suggest otherwise is either ignorance or deceit.
      
      Land is a completely different case. If they want to tax land directly I would fully support that.

  Labour are going to be really exposed on CGT if National just expose the lie about the family home being exempt.
  All it needs is for National to keep hammering the fact that the family home is only exempt till the owner(s) die, then it is no longer the family home of those inheriting, so will be taxed.
  That message needs to get into the heads of everyone that owns a home but has been under the impression that the tax is only aimed at property investors.
  Get Labour on the defensive over that point and nobody will hear any of the arguments in favour and it just becomes a millstone round their necks.

Our trade with China is commodity based and represents a dead-end when it comes to raising per capita productivity. I agree with Jack 5 re population growth.         Remember the Aussie banker who described NZ as the “rock star” economy? Never was! We’re 48th in the world in GDP per capita, and 114th in the world in “real GDP” growth (based on the 2017 rate of 3 per cent).

Here is an idea for National to use.
In the US these guys go around campuses and informally “interview” students on their understanding of or opinions of current political issues. But then they are told what the issue is really about or the real facts related to it and get the “revised” opinion.

    Tallman, it is not just dyed in wool lefties who support the SLG.
    
    Before Christmas, Mrs HK spent an afternoon doing gingerbread houses with mums/friends of our kid at our place. That evening while having a drink around the bbq, talk turned to Prinzess and the CoL.
    It was revealing, some of the parents in the 30 to 40 age group were adamant in their support for Prinzess and the CoL(L), the reasons for this support:
    1. JA is in their age group and they empathize with her;
    2. Key was seen as a liar;
    3. National was/is only interested in the interests of the rich & privileged (the irony of them living in above average priced Auckland properties is lost on them).
    
    They couldn’t identify any policy they agree with, other than JA has empathy for their concerns whatever they are.
    
    And above all, they did not care about:
    1. Ardern’s outrageous lies (Key lied);
    2. That she is a part time PM, more interested in her own image;
    3. What the CoL(L) is doing policy wise – they were just annoyed Key wasted money on the flag referendum.
    
    The above possibly goes some way to explain the poll result on Monday.
    
    However, the other point to draw is, we are talking about a large portion of the voting population who are somewhere between stupid and fickle. But some of those votes National needs and we are not going to attract them with either Bridgds or Collins as leader as neither have the empathy of this group.

      No one is going to out empathise Ardern, doesn’t matter if it’s bullshit or not she’s got the number one empathy slot tied up for as long as she’s there.
      
      Like you say most average Kiwis are dimwits, who are easily led and her very little knowledge outside their personal bubble.
      
      The only way National is going to beat her and get through to these people is if National can spell out clearly and in layman’s terms why this government is dangerous and that it will hurt them and their families.
      
      That’s going to have to involve some pretty bold statements and whoever’s delivering them has to have the ability to think fast on their feet, because you’ll only get one shot and if you fuck it up like Joyce and the 11 billion hole then the media will rip National to bits.
      
      If I’m being honest, Simon doesn’t have that skill, he’s a bit too clinical, wear them down sort of guy and the media won’t give the guy a chance.

        Tallman, Nash may not be on board. But as a subject matter to get the Liebore and Green voters out next year, running the cannabis referendum on the same day as the general election is a stroke of strategic genius by the CoL.
        
        That referendum is a sure fire way to get those who support cannabis law reform and deliver votes to the CoL on the necessary day. That is one hell of a handicap for National to contend with!

Sorry, but this got posted on tomorrow’s GD, so for those of you restrictring yourself to today, I’ll inflict on you today!.

What a piece of work Shane Jones is. Accusing Northlander’s and especially the Regional Chairman, John Bain of being liars and demonstrating behaviour like that of the “Cargo Cult” (a reference to PNG indigenous peoples in the 20th Century after contact with European settlers) as reported by RNZ news 12/02/2019.

Jones’remarks are a follow on from Friday, when he accused Bain of being out of step with what Northlanders want.

Now let’s put the record straight.

1. It is Jones who is fostering the Cargo Cult behaviour/mentality. Because it is him, who is playing “God” and showering money and goodies (via the Regional Economic Growth Fund) on those who will pledge their support.

2. It is not Bain who is out of step with what Northlanders want (which is a 4 lane expressway Auckland to Whangarei), it is Jones who has it wrong. He and the Toxic Gnome being part of the CoL(L) agreed to the scraping of the Roads of National Significance. Bain and the leaders of all local Northland councils went to Wellington last year to lobby for the continuation of the expressway programme.

3. Then Jones made the blatant lie on Monday that the previous government had not intended to proceed with the road by not providing for it. He claimed that at the rate the previous govt planned to fund the road it might be provided by the mid 2050s. To which Simon Bridges and Bain responded back with evidence showing the highway planning and design phase was well advanced, that the National govt had set aside $450m for the Whangarei to Waipu leg & land was being designated for the Warkworth to Wellsford leg.

So, what does this episode show:
1. Despite talk of Jones “buying” a seat in Northland, this I would contend is doubtful. He is more likely buying votes (party);
2. Despite his immense power in cabinet and responsibility, him and Peters are prepared to sell out their support base for the baubles of power;
3. As Minister of Infrastructure, Jones is the wrong person for the job, as he does not have a clue about making strategic infrastructure investments on behalf of New Zealanders, he is political first and foremost;
4. What is the point of establishing the Infrastructure Investment Advisory Panel within Treasury, goals with providing strategic infrastructure investment advice to Jones and Ardern if he makes infrastructure investment decisions for political purposes?; and
5. Like Ardern Jones is also a liar!

    Trumps team landed in Beijing last night to work on trade. Given the economic situation in China it’s likely a deal will be done. In the meantime China (along with the EU) has agreed to substantially increase purchases of Soy Beans off US farmers.

    Interesting to see the story in today’s Dom Post about “competing” rallies for Trump and O’Rourke in Texas. The AP report treated them as equals but somehow failed to mention that O’Rourke had something up 1,000 people attending with room for plenty more had the wanted to attend, whereas Trump’s rally had a capacity 20K+ crowd plus probably 2 x as many outside.
    
    Just to make it more amusing, O’Rourke railed against walls, while standing behind one to protect him from interlopers. The irony was apparently lost on him.

Ross is politically dead, but won’t lie down?

• Ross believed that voting with National on every vote would stop the party from being able to use the “waka jumping” law – which allows party leaders to kick MPs elected under their party banner out of Parliament if they “distort the proportionality of Parliament.” – stuff

People like Andrew Geddis, on ‘Pundit’, have referred to the 2005 case, Elias CJ in Prebble v Awatere Huata, saying that – “… all five [Supreme Court] judges agreed on this central point: “distorting proportionality” in the legislation isn’t necessarily about how an MP votes in the House; rather the wider changes caused by an MP going from party member to independent suffice. Applying that precedent from our highest court, Ross’ new status as independent meets the required statutory threshold.”

• Ross intended to continue serving on the Transport and Infrastructure Select Committee.

Are there not specific rules for party representations on committees set by member numbers?

• Ross said his expulsion from the party would become an issue for the party as he was not afforded “natural justice” and this was required under the case law.

As I remember it, Ross held a press conference where he announced his resignation from National, while concurrently the National caucus met to expel him (Yes, irony makes the world go round). It may take a close examination of both incidences to establish which happened first: Ross’s resignation or Party expulsion.

Incidentally, or accidentally –
Winston’s Electoral (Integrity) Amendment Bill says …

55A Member of Parliament ceasing to be parliamentary member of political party
(3) For the purposes of subsection (2), a member of Parliament ceases to be a parliamentary member of the political party for which the member of Parliament was elected only if —
(a) the member of Parliament delivers to the Speaker a written notice that complies with section 55B; or
(b) the parliamentary leader of the political party for which the member of Parliament was elected delivers to the Speaker a written notice that complies with section 55C.

As neither (a) above, or (b) have been fulfilled, Jami-Lee Ross must technically, under this law, still be a Member of the National Party in Parliament because the law says “a member of Parliament ceases to be a parliamentary member of the political party for which the member of Parliament was elected only if …” (a) or (b) has occurred.
Winston may have thought this law to be fool-proof.
Or is this just proof his law was written by fools?

None of the current political parties represent the interests of ordinary people. They exist only to further the ideology of their chosen clique.

Both the major parties are filled with elitist inward looking people who have no regard for the majority they influence. The left cynically display fake caring, for certain groups, to gather votes and cloak their agenda of division. Their goal is total control of others. The right are bit simpler and are mainly concerned about the dollars and their rich mates.

We need pragmatic caring leadership that puts outcomes over ideology and hidden agendas.

The “Green New Deal” is a deeply, deeply flawed bill. Not only will it not help solve the issue of climate-change, it will be actively counterproductive.

First, it doesn’t offer any specifics, just vague goals and feel good words. It’s hardly alone in this, but just like all the other empty calls for undefined action, it’s kind of pointless.

Second, to the limited degree it does talk about specifics it displays its clear biases. The authors are not interested in promoting solutions based on objective evidence about what reduces emissions. Instead its just the cliched doctrines of the environmental-left (we should really be more honest and just call it Gaianism, because it is effectively a religion) – wind/solar good, trains good, nuclear bad, etc.

And third, it rolls in whole bunch of issues which have utterly zero to do with climate-change whatsoever. What have education and healthcare got to do with reducing carbon emissions? Including these unrelated topics turns this bill from well-meaning (if pointless) virtue-signalling to being actively counterproductive. It will only serve to draw time/effort away from and increase opposition to bills which could actually be part of the solution.

This is not a credible attempt to start a conversation about reducing emissions – it is nothing but an alt-left manifesto.

He was saying a chinese tourist was telling him that people travelling overseas are now only allowed to take $1,900 US out of China due to new currency restrictions imposed by thier govment. Maybe things are worse over there than we are lead to believe 🙁

      A few years ago I attended a black-tie dinner at Colmar-Brunton, it might have been for the opening of a new facility on the Shore as they were touring people through it whilst the dinner was in a marque outside.
      
      Anyway it was a fine event but there were guests in attendance not in black-tie.

I recall towards the end of the 2018 sitting year he gave them a warning about their poor performance in answering written questions.
Seems his patience is wearing thin.

I just took a bit of time out from preparing diner to watch some of QT.
Fuor things struck me:
1. Judith is wearing a much softer make-up this year that really really suits her.
2. Amy’s glasses make her look very ‘granny like’
3. When Jamie-Lee (mutant toed) Ross stood to ask a question the whole of National turned around and gave him filthy looks.
4. No sign of Sarah D in the chamber?

      Yes, I commented here when it was revealed that she was the MP who sent the early-morning text to Jami-Lee Ross, that, incredibly, she was still sitting behind Paula Bennett’s right shoulder (as at the end of last year). I’m delighted to see that she has been “demoted” to a more appropriate seat (although, by rights, she should be sharing JLR’s bench up the back).
      
      I’ve gone back through my recording of QT, but can’t tell you what she was wearing, other than that it was a dark/black top, and that she had her hair up. (The blue National Party box in front of her didn’t help, either.)
      
      Also, I noticed that Mark Mitchell left the Chamber about 2.40 p.m., at the start of Question 7, which is why Alastair Scott was sitting in it when Shane Reti asked his question (No. 9).

        I never really got into pig hunting though my son’s mad keen on it. Trouble is that many people don’t work out that a dog capable of ripping a live boar apart is not exactly what you want playing with your kids or running around the streets.
        
        I’ve got a thing against terriers as a breed. Fox, Jack Russell, Staffordshire or Pit Bull, whatever. They’re hard to train & can turn in an instant.
        
        No-one worries about being savaged by a Foxie but when the bigger breeds lose the plot anything can happen & often does.

        Staffies (Staffordshire bull terriers) were recently voted Britain’s favourite dog breed, and their nick name is the “nanny dog,” because they are good family pets.
        
        Generally they’re too small for pig dogs, aren’t they? Staffy crosses, as Maggy suggests, are a possibility for hunting though.
        
        Owners of in-trouble pitbulls sometimes mis-identify their dogs as Staffies because their pitbulls were supposed to have been muzzled. If you don’t know dogs it’s easy to confuse Staffies and pitbulls.
        
        Pitbulls themselves can be safe, even gentle pets. A favourite dog in my suburb is a big, gentle pitbull-cross seen often out walking with the Mum of the family with her small children, including one in a pushchair.
        
        The NZ Vetinerary Association advocates a broad dog-control system, rather than classifying dogs by breed. The system would include:
        
        – Earlier identification of potentially dangerous dogs based on their actions, not breed; with both the dogs and their owners subject to increasingly stringent conditions.
        
        – Consideration of the context in which the “aggressive” behaviour occurred.
        
        – A rehabilitation pathway for dogs identified as potentially dangerous and allowing for the classification to be rescinded after three years, following behaviour assessment and training.
        
        – Mandatory behaviour testing for dogs classified as “potentially dangerous” or “dangerous” at the owner’s expense.
        
        – Behaviour assessment by an independent authorised person.
        
        The vets say this would reduce expenses associated with objections, and guard against unjustified euthanasia.

Lived in Tauranga now for over 45 years and today is the hottest that I can ever remember.
32 degrees most the afternoon and still 31 just now.
Just about the driest I can recall with the likes of clover and other grass just completely brown.

Better than the gold coast.
But the sea’s have been massive for the last few days as well. suspect the beaches will be a bit scoured out.

Call for Airbnb crackdown to target investors, holiday homes in Western Australia

WA’s biggest tourism lobby group has called for a crackdown on Airbnb, pushing for a ban on the use of residential properties for tourist accommodation unless someone is living there.

That “unless someone is living there” has a bit of a sting to it. Here’s why:

Tourism Council chief executive Evan Hall called on the State Government to crack down on Airbnb listings that did not serve as somebody’s primary residence, a move that would target people whose investment or holiday properties were put up on the site.

Mr Hall said the listing of residential properties on Airbnb had done nothing to boost tourism, claiming it had hurt traditional accommodation providers and cost thousands of jobs because different rules meant properties listed on the site were often available more cheaply. “That means visitors are spending less money in Western Australia,” he said.

So, putting this argument another way, the Tourism Council wants tourists to spend more to stay in hotels! This has “vested interest” written all over it, despite his attempt to dress it up as some sort of housing market issue.

I may have missed it, but has anyone information about the ‘Spot of bother’ at a Select Committee on Health Expenditure hearing this morning when National (citing Standing Orders) apparently walked out because the CoL were evidently too slow (lazy?) to get enough members for a quorum?

The CoL (perhaps typically) are blaming the Nats for the fiasco, despite it being a direct result of their (CoL) ‘s own actions.

Does anyone know more?

The first promise Jacinda Ardern made as Labour leader looks to have gone up in smoke.

During her first big public outing as leader during the election, she promised rail for all – including a line from the Auckland waterfront to Dominion Rd to Mount Roskill, all to be completed by 2021.

The promise was part of a $15 billion package and came with a plea from Ms Ardern – she needed cash to fund it.

  One: denial of diplomatic implication by The Prinzess herself. Bullshit. You don’t dispatch a Dreamliner without authorization from the receiving aviation authority between International Terminals. This is international practice since 9/11 when some commenters here were in Grade school. Fact.
  Five hours until the Dreamliner was given the order to turn around. That was a big window. Ninety minutes would have sufficed.
  Once the administrative error was flogged to death, the parties involved have another layer to resort to. That China is flexing its muscle and enforcing incoming flight path documents to scratch any references to Taiwan that could be taken as foreign countries viewing Taiwan as an Independent State. Convoluted to say the least. This has been picked up on by the Enquirer the Guardian.
