Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told the crowd at the Auckland War Memorial Museum that Kiwis needed to recommit to the principles of freedom, democracy and peace that the country had fought for.

New Zealanders are already committed to these principles, and we remain so. If our PM was interested in more than platitudinous sound bites, then for such a recommitment she need look no further than her own cabinet table, thus:

– Freedom; Reigning in Andrew Little’s draconian plans for limitations to free speech. Stop using censorship as a means to control the population’s understanding of events like the Christchurch massacre.

– Democracy; Abandoning Order in Council processes designed to sidestep democratic due process. Never again using unconstitutional ‘captain’s calls’ to rule by fiat. Publishing the Secret Coalition deal that is that basis of our government’s formation

– Peace; Stop being an apologist for a religious/political system that subjugates women, murders Christian and gays, and gives safe harbour to fanatics who bring terror to the world’s people on a daily basis.

  In respect to free speech this also applies to Israel Folau. The left have got this so wrong. On my YouTube channel (Terry Opines) I posted a commentary by Alan Jones supporting Folau and the results were staggering in favour of Folau:

  Like you, I see the hypocrisy and irony in what she said and as a for instance, below I have reposted a link I posted on GD late last night after I found the story on MSN.
  
  Well Andrew Angry Little, as they always say, be careful what you wish for, because it may come back and bit you.

  Well if the article in the link above is to be believed, it appears Hopkins has pricked the thin skin of one or two of of St Jacinda’s local followers to the extent they have sent a foul mouth tweet containing a death threat against Hopkins. Oh the irony, Labour’s twin campaigns of peace, love and togetherness and the tirade against nasty right wing racists, spreaders of hate and extreme violence laid bare as nothing but a hypocritical charade.
  
  You see, for the past month, we’ve been told relentlessly by the left and the organised media campaign, that those of us on the right are:
  – the ones full of hate,
  – the ones with language of hate that needs to be stopped;
  – the ones that are racist; and
  – we are the ones prone to commit extreme anti-society violence.
  
  Well like you, I see it as ironic, that:
  – It is Jacinda who wants to lead a campaign to suppress what is published on the web (a direct assault on the freedom of speech);
  – It is Little who wants to legislate against “hate speech”, whatever that is? (another direct assault on the freedom of speech);
  – that it is Louisa Wall who wants parliament to legislate and put in controlling mechanisms on the media (yet another direct assault on the freedom of speech); and
  -finally, some local supporter of St Jacinda sending a message via the internet threatening violence and death against a person in the media.
  
  These incidences have all been within the past few weeks, and it is hard not to notice a common thread here. That thread being, that three of the calls are from NZ Labour MPs and the fourth is a Jacinda/Labour supporting nutter.
  It is the left who are making anti-democratic calls; it is the left which is against freedom (and the freedom of speech); it is the left making violent calls; and it is the left pitting elements of society against one another.
  
  So, it really is a case of what are they going to do next?
  Hopefully maybe now, they will stop and rethink, their stupid and pointless campaigns.

  The depravity that Islamic Extremists go to has seldom been seen in humanity’s history. Children used as suicide bombers, the case above, and then the atrocities committed by ISIS reinforce the opinion that the only way to solve this problem is to exterminate these terrorists and their supporters, and to push back against the version of their religion that legitimises this type of barbarism.     Austria has found a totally peaceful way to deal with their Muslim community. Wearing a Burka/Niqab or head scarf in public earns a significant fine so some Muslim Females no longer go outside their homes and some families are leaving Austria. Muslim Females can choose to disobey their husbands or Mohameed can do the grocery shopping.

    The English word “religion” does not do Islam justice. Islam is more than a “religion.”
    I think the English-speaking world would better be able to handle Islam if it used the proper descriptors.
    
    Possible descriptors:
    – Supremacist belief system
    – Political ideology with religious trimmings

The word religion can be applied to the diverse customs and practices of the ancient Mayans, Aztecs, Incas, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Japanese through to modern day Hindu, Buddhists, Catholics, YECs, Jews, Mormons, Satanists, and even , in their mind, Scientology (and that list is just the tip of the iceberg). The Cult of Greta Thunberg

Anyone who doubts that the green movement is morphing into a millenarian cult should take a close look at Greta Thunberg. This poor young woman increasingly looks and sounds like a cult member. The monotone voice. The look of apocalyptic dread in her eyes. The explicit talk of the coming great ‘fire’ that will punish us for our eco-sins. There is something chilling and positively pre-modern about Ms Thunberg. One can imagine her in a sparse wooden church in the Plymouth Colony in the 1600s warning parishioners of the hellfire that will rain upon them if they fail to give up their witches.

It actually makes sense that Ms Thunberg – a wildly celebrated 16-year-old Swede who founded the climate-strike movement for schoolkids – should sound cultish. Because climate-change alarmism is becoming ever stranger, borderline religious, obsessed with doomsday prophecies. Consider Extinction Rebellion, the latest manifestation of the upper-middle classes’ contempt for industrialisation and progress. It is at times indistinguishable from old fundamentalist movements that warned mankind of the coming End of Days.

  Wow, Brendan O’Neill is a real arsehole. The reason Greta Thunberg doesn’t seem “normal” is that she isn’t “normal” – she has Asperger’s Syndrome. Which explains her lack of emotion, fixation on a single subject and the complete lack of diplomacy in expressing it. Arsehole O’Neill would know that if he’d done even any cursory reading on the subject before committing his bitterness to the keyboard.

  If I bothered to count a year ago there was probably 6+ anti Trump stories in Stuff in one day.
  I seem to recall that someone on KB mentioned this in recent times.
  It is wall to wall so a passive observer of news – from any source- TV, radio, newspapers, or whatever- will slowly absorb this. An opinion is rendered home by building a wall of words with no other light getting through.
  The same was done with Nobel Peace prize winner Mr B Hussein Obama, the other way.
  Either way a false narrative.
  
  One has to be an active observer to get the truth.
  Mothers with 3 kids under 12 don’t necessarily have time to do alternate research (except Monique I guess)
  Dads working a 55 hour week plus travel time and attending to aging parents don’t have the time, for the most part.
  Terfs with blue hair- well who cares.
  
  Those who are active in doing their homework and are still facing the wrong way – so sad!
  The media is actually worse in Australia where it has that Australian direct attack method as opposed to the NZ passive/aggressive approach.
  
  This is a good history lesson of how Joseph Goebbels operated with propaganda.
  Remember it was National Socialism they were pushing – in name.
  Now it is Global Socialism as the pathway to Totalitarianism.
  President Donald J. Trump is a handbrake on this crusade.

Govt spending is out of control as is govt borrowing. This credit expansion on war and assets must eventually have to be reduced. Statistics depend on honesty: published numbers depend on massaging.

Perhaps because what was debated, was the uncertainty? – while Ardern attempted what Little had already exhibited didn’t work with Winston over the last minute Three Strikes debacle.

Also remember the gas exploration issue and the lack of conversation there, but that was an outside-of-Cabinet jack-up to pass Winston’s paranoid waka-jumping bill.

Now – The 21-member working group set up to advise the government’s response to the Mental Health Inquiry has been replaced with several more [nine] working groups. [4]

Then a debate or conversation?
And perhaps an intuitive “captain’s call” on mental health, to maybe add to people’s disillusion and depression?

  The Prime Minister erred seriously in calling the CGT issue a debate. A lot of the talk in MSM and social media was based on … nothing at all except a black hole.
  
  The debate could have happened had at least a draft been published on which to base the promised legislation. But despite a very long time frame from initiation of the CGT proposal in 2017, not even counting all the work done since 2011, agreement could not be reached.

Did you hear about the worthy [policewomam ? ] organising welfare for under priveleged on the east coast of the North Island.
Amongst goods supplied to help mothers with young bobies to change them more often were nappies provided by a helpful firm. No doubt good for business long term but hardly the best for the mothers concerned.
From experience of changing our son in his early days I suggest how to get, use and wash cloths would be be more helpful. In those days I had changed from a bachelor on less than $30 a fortnight to keeping a wife and child … so my wife and I had to watch our cents.
My wife remembers before that her mother dealing with menstral flows in a similar manner for the four girls in the family…. before Tampax came on the market it was need not choice.

Ever since i came across KB earlier this year ive found it to be one of the most enjoyable and informative places to spend a little spare time during the day – and i thank DPF for all the effort he must put into this. I do however lament the loss of a lot of the ‘old crowd’ that inhabited here prior to the new moderation policices. While it hasnt affected me in any way, i do notice there are a lot more people around these days that appear to have had a Personality-Bypass at birth.

Theron is very good looking but she had a very troubled life growing up, she appears to be reacting against that and has got very liberal, LGBT, trans gender, marriage is good for homosexuals but not for me personally etc etc.
  
  But look at this another way. A priveleged white woman buys a young black boy in an adoption process and then raises him as a girl. Will surgery come next?
  
  Theron has no husband and no clue. She is quite literally a law unto herself.
  
  That’s why we need boundaries. The created order of male and female is a boundary. Marriage is a boundary. Observing boundaries helps us to understand life as it really is.
