The Biosecurity New Zealand have announced a range of new measures to combat the risk of white supremacists arriving in New Zealand.

Head of the Virulent and Infectious Defence unit, Mr Edgar Beaver says that from next week, all incoming aircraft will be sprayed for white supremacists. “Many older travelers will remember this practice. It is regrettable that have to re-start this program, but it’s a very small inconvenience for the sake of the country”. Setting policy aside, Mr Beaver observed that this is a personal mission for him. “My father worked for the Ministry of Agriculture back in the 1970, suiting up to spray incoming DC-10’s. One white supremacist made its way into New Zealand, we think as a result of budget cuts limiting the number of aerosol cans we could use on each flight. I’m picking up the fight here”.

There’s good reason for us to focus on this. Dr Bone from the Toxic Pest faculty of Otago University said “These newly arrived pests breed like flies. Since the arrival of that single white supremacist, way back in the mid 1970’s, the population has spread alarmingly. Our research suggests there are now 5 white supremacists living in New Zealand. Something has to be done, and quickly”

Biosecurity New Zealand appear to be upping the anti. “This time around we’re extending the fight to inbound shipping” says Mr Beaver. “Operators of all freight and cruise ships will be required to sign sworn declarations the their vessels are guaranteed free from white supremacists before docking. Without a sworn declaration our officials have no choice but to deny the vessel entry into New Zealand.”. Mr Beaver went on to say that any operator trying a ‘neither confirm nor deny’ approach will be denied entry, and escorted from New Zealand waters by a Navy frigate, or by a Navy inflatable dinghy if no frigate is available.

  I would also ask those celebs resident in Sydney:
  1. Do you use the train or 400 bus to the airport? Or is that for the ‘dumb’ people to use.
  2. Will you use the Circular Quay to Randwick/Kingsford tram when it starts running (supposedly this coming December)?
  3. Do you have an Opal Card (Sydney’s equivalent to a Snapper Card).

      Then on Nine to Doom, Megan Woods says international re-insurers have a great deal of confidence in New Zealand.

Neither Jami-Lee Ross nor Newshub seem to note that Alfred Ngaro pasted a printed invitation, which it seems he didn’t actually write, and which uses a lower case ‘h’ for ‘holocaust. Both Ross and Newshub have given the word a capital ‘H’ making it ‘Holocaust’, so considerably changing its meaning.

So, either Jami-Lee Ross and Newshub are a little ignorant, or they are of course themselves trivialising the Holocaust in a way perhaps a little nastier than that which they accuse Alfred Ngaro of doing.

    Well HC , I hope Bridge’s is just being cute by saying no deal for Botany, but unsaid there could be an arrangement in another electorate.
    If not and he is bowing to pressure for an answer from the media he is stupid.
    He should not be closing off any possibilities. We have this crazy MMP system and so to win you have to use whatever works within that system. There is no way National will win on it’s own.

    Being male, my “opinion” regarding a women’s body are largely irrelevant.
    But my opinion of abortion is, for what it is worth.
    1. A determination needs to be made re when is the entity (only generic word I could think of), part of the woman and totally dependent and when is it independent.
    2. Safety of both (life and death) issues need to be determined.
    3. Circumstance, rape/ incest etc MUST have a bearing.
    4. Convenience should have LESS (not NO) impact on the decision, that is what contraception and abstinence is for. THINK …BEFORE you act.
    On that (there are more, but am having trouble articulating them to myself).

    legal
    Only in 1st trimester, unless extra ordinary circumstances.
    Father of baby held responsible too

      I think current NZ law/system is fine, abortion numbers generally trending down, women obviously don’t like having abortions, but accidents happen. New Alabama law is dumb. But if you set up exceptions for things like rape then women will just have to claim they were raped.

      Perhaps resources would be better spent in preventing rapes – both locking rapists up longer, and teaching young girls the truth, that your right to say no means absolutely nothing to a rapist (otherwise they wouldn’t be a rapist) and to take steps to prevent being in a situation to begin with.
      
      If you make exceptions to allow abortion in the case of rape, the logical result is more women will cry rape when it wasn’t.
      
      Besides, there are many women who have children to men who have beaten and otherwise abused them and still love those kids dearly. The family Court is full of people of both genders who prove this point.
      
      Abortion is murder. And in this day and age, with contraception as affective as it is, there should be no need for any unplanned pregnancy whatsoever.

    Even if Kiwibuild homes are sold to qualifying doctors and marketing managers, as soon as the neighbourhood starts a downward slide, the owners will be planning to turn it into a rental when their 3 years residency is up.
    
    Larger developments are going to have about a third social housing anyway.
    
    Some social housing tenants are absolutely fine, but some are definitely not great neighbours. Only need on bad apple in the barrel.

Another development story making the news is the Paddington development in Taranaki Street.

Seems a local councillor (Chair of the Planning &Development Committee) doesn’t like the idea that consent will be given without the ability to influence the development. The reason for his dilemma is that Wellington district Plan, does allow for intensive development like Auckland. Seems he believes they can pump 80,000 people into the Wellington CBD over the next 24 years. On what basis does he come up with the idea that thousands will live in the Wellington CBD?

CONSUMER TIP #5 – this is a real game changer!

These days, whenever a supplier gifts my partner a few bottles of krappy wine as a ‘thank-you for your service’, rather than sharing it with the staff anymore, he now brings it all home. Last week, he was given a carton of Wolf Blass Yellow Label Shiraz (probaly about 10 bucks from Pak N’ Save?).
A few months back a friend of ours, who works as a Somelier at a flash restaurant, passed on this little secret that will turn even the cheapest Red into something almost drinkable.
1. Remove the cap from the bottle and pour out about a cupful into a glass jug.
2. Add to that 1 Tsp of white caster sugar and stir gently with a fork until disolved.
3. Put the jug into a mivrowave and heat on high for 17 seconds.
4. Then gently stir again to ensure sugar is well and truly disolved.
5. Carefuly pour back into the bottle, recap tightly, and give the bottle few gentle turns.

Thats it. You can either drink it immediately, or its even better if cellared overnight. Weve found you may need to add just a touch more sugar to something like a Shiraz, but just adjust to your taste. My partner has even put it back in a different bottle (a Penfolds Grange) and poured it for friends at a bbq – honestly, its fun to watch them swirl it in their glass then smell and taste it 🙂

Apparently, the govt is giving (I think it was) a quarter of a million dollars to women’s refuge to (re)house the pets of victims. I was scanning through radio stations just now, and Kerre whats-her-name on NewsTalkZB was doing a monologue about it all, and asking what sort of people would do this to a defenseless animal, and that there must be “people in this very building, given the size of the building, people walking around who would do this to an animal. What sort of country are we?” etc.

I felt like ringing up and saying, well, OK, but substitute the word abortion for animal abuse. What sort of people are we who would kill our own unborn babies? Our own sons and daughters? I bet that there are people in the very building you work in (it’s pretty big) who have had abortions and are more unfeeling about it than any abuse toward an animal. I would bet that Kerry herself supports a woman’s right to abort her son or daughter.

This is so hypocritical. How she can spout off for half an hour (or whatever it would have been) and scold us as a nation for the way we treat our pets and yet be completely fine with the killing (dismantling, in many cases) of baby humans.

Get some perspective, woman!

      I agree that you can say that abortion is evil and should be stopped, and in fact I don’t approve of abortion after 12 weeks unless the foetus is significantly defective or the mother’s health is at significant risk.

Observations on Australian Election result.
I will make an assumption that most voters (not all) decide on what is best for themselves (and family and local community), and then what is “best” for society overall. So if they are doing okay, then secondary (non-direct) issues such as climate change, come into play.

In most urban centres promoting anti-climate change policy is a secondary consideration, while in parts of Queensland, it was a primary concern (loss of potential and actual jobs, lower wages) Hence the big swings towards Coalition in that State. Even in urban areas, Labor failed to re-assure voters concerned about climate change (secondary concern) that the voter would not have huge power bills (primary concern).

For a minority of voters, what may be seen as secondary issues for most voters (climate change, freedom of speech, religious freedom, gender issues) are indeed the primary decider. Take gender identity for instance. Labor was pushing a National Gender Centre, a policy designed for a very small percent of children, but could impact negatively on the vast majority of parents that don’t have gender-confused children. Very popular policy (and maybe primary concern) for a very small number of voters, a turn-off for a large number of voters.

In short, Labor pushed multiple marginal secondary issues, while Coalition pushed primary concerns (the economy).

  Labor promised taxes, Nat/Libs promised more of the same, no contest really.
  
  Remember labour did not win in NZ. Their policies garnered 37% support. Watermelon policies got 7% support.
  
  “what’s in it for wynston” promised immigration lowered to 10,000 annually and the total removal of the maori seats. They are hardly left wing policies so basically the centre right won but a certain greedy drunk dropped all his platform policies to get more in his pocket.
  
  2020 will see “what’s in it for wynston” removed from the political spectrum and any party that makes “global warming” a major plank of their election campaign will be voted out of existence.

  Labor failed to realize that identity politics is sometimes a two-sided coin. While some Labor policies would benefit some, the (perceived) consequences for the majority could be significantly negative.
  Aboriginal “partnership” rights enshrined in law would make little difference to the average aborigine, but could undermine property rights and costs for the vast majority of land owners. Same with other “fairness” policies, which created the opposite.
  
  It was a failure to explain (because they couldn’t) how Labor policies wouldn’t harm the average voter that hit them.

Over in the UK a tv programme has just been abruptly cancelled after one of the participants committed suicide. He had be humiliated beyond breaking point for the entertainment of the masses.
How this bloke ever agreed to be on this show beats me, but I’m thinking there was some sort of desperation involved.
There are other shows where the participants are obviously willing volunteers such as Dancing With the Stars, Bachelor where their is a potential for people to be thrown to the wolves eg David Seymour.
Then there are reality Cop shows, Border Patrol, which are propaganda for law enforcement.
One such show is Cops. On the radio the other day a typical scenario from one episode was played whereby some guys in a car were stopped. Suspicious powder was tested on the roadside and because a sample turned blue it was deemed to be crack cocaine. The guys were arrested and taken away in handcuffs. End of story.
Except the powder wasn’t drugs.
Those tests, it seems, are only 50% accurate.
Oh dear.

This raises some questions
1 – Does that have any relevance to the Border Security shows we see on tv? Are only the success stories shown to us?
2 – Does that have any relevance to road side drug sobriety tests being called for in NZ?
3 – Was the radio programme relevant to these other contexts?

Now I don’t believe our laws need to stipulate such a thing for muslims as our human rights protects religious freedom, it protects those with disabilities and those of the gay community.

Perhaps someone can point how under which laws violence and hatred against people no matter what their gender, race, religion, sexuality, disability is legal. It’s not, and our laws already cover all this.

Except that GG (despite being supposedly an apostate), wants to make very, very sure that, as it evidently isn’t robust enough to take criticism, islam is protected at all costs.

It ws only a matter of time ebfore this appeared in NZ, and by following that line that she is merely copying similar actions by other politicians overseas and is yet another example of the ‘Do as I say, not as I do’ philosophy for which she is becoming well-known.

    Thank you, yet perhaps significantly she notes that ‘On some days she is an agnostic, on others an atheist’ although her anti-Trump comments would not seem to support that position.
    
    Given her hometown was a relgiously-important one to shia muslims, I would suggest that it might be a case of ‘You can take the girl out of the town, but you can’t take her out of the religion’, and that the underlying bias remains, hence her actions in regard to ‘protecting’ the religion.

        I think the focus should be on why she is in the Greens…She has no environmental background as far as I can see…
        hence she is one of the social(ist) greens… dedicated to overturning the Capitalist /democratic way of Life.
        
        Any Oppressed group can be used/manipulated to achieve the means of a political Group.,,,,so backing a religious group helps her extend her reach into one area of identity politics.

But J few believe Tarrant is not aware of how well the PM is carrying out his every wish over and above his wildest dreams. Lets not forget she got an advance copy of his manifesto then took until the following Tuesday to issue the edict of “he who will not be named”. NZ Journalism – how cheap can it be to run ?
1) Hire a recent grad from polytech. (Note: must be photopenic, pref female, accept low salary)
2) Call Govt each Monday for this weeks schedule. (Where, when, who, how much)
3) Turn up on time, photo op for various ministers, PM etc.
4) Reprint Govt material, press release, charts, stats.
5) File by 3pm, home by 4pm or back to celebration drinkees, networking for press sec job.

Interesting, but our summers have not been that warm for a few years now, we get the occasional few day heat wave, but for the most part I still notice people with their fires going in summer, so I wonder when this will even be used. Just more fear mongering from the govt and greens

An author and producer tweets this week about his being a man and the supposedly accepted wisdom that men aren’t allowed to have an opinion about abortion.

Producer Adam Trahan was silent for years about the abortion that he says changed his life — but one tweet sent him “over the edge” Thursday, and he hasn’t looked back since.

“I’d been getting increasingly frustrated by the preponderance of this ‘shout your abortion/no uterus, no say’ nonsense, and Liz Plank’s tweet sent me over the edge,” Trahan told The Daily Caller via email.

Plank, an author and Vox Media host, had tweeted about how men benefit from abortion and asked them to be more open about that.

Trahan responded to Plank by saying that his own experience stood out in stark contrast to her claim.

Trahan filled The Caller in on some of the details of the story he’d “only recently divulged only a few days prior (and for the first time to anyone ever),” saying that he had been “an unwilling party” to the abortion of his own child about five years ago, when his girlfriend of two years chose to terminate her pregnancy without his input.

“That single instance is what made me staunchly pro-life,” he added, admitting that before he moved from Los Angeles to Nashville, he feared being honest about that. “In California, if I were to profess any form of acceptance toward the pro-life movement, I wouldn’t have just been shunned, I’d have been actively destroyed.”

Trahan said that he went with his then-girlfriend to the clinic, believing at the time that his job was to support her and keep his mouth shut. “That was what had been drilled into my head since adolescence due to my San Francisco, Calif., upbringing. “‘You’re the man, you have no say, you DID this to her,’” he explained.

But being in that clinic, feeling helpless to speak his mind, left Trahan forever changed.

“That single moment that I remember so vividly, and her blase attitude afterward changed me forever,” he said. “Not a single day goes by that I don’t think about that and feel a tremendous, stagnating guilt, and I just felt the need to share to both get it off my chest, and to maybe see if I wasn’t alone. It’s truly the most lonely feeling in the world, when you feel like you can’t tell anyone, because, again, I’m the male. Who cares what I think? It’s not ‘my body.’”

    And if you seriously think the child is “part of a woman’s body” then you are biologically ignorant.

      If Folau were of Sonny Bill Williams’ Muslim faith, the media would be fighting hard on his side.
      
      They want free speech when Christianity is the target, but “hate speech” censorship when the target is another religion, unnamed, but of course, Islam.
      
      Notice how the “hate speech” control freaks extend their argument to encompass disabled people as targets.
      
      Who ridicules disabled people? The only humour I’ve heard about them came from a disabled stand-up comedian.
      
      Surprisingly, in Stuff newspapers today, a writer, of American origin, supports the push for hate-speech controls. No wonder the print media is on its last legs.

The blueprint, seen by the Telegraph, lays bare for the first time Mr Corbyn’s plan to bring all energy network companies under public ownership “immediately” following a Labour election win.

Nationalisation as a price decided by parliament? No leader with an IQ above room temperature would dare to suggest this even in jest. And to think, Labour is a the highest polling party in the UK.
