Tomorrow is a big day in the computer world. It’s the last day of support for Windows 7, still working on about 200 million computers around the world. Free security updates will end tomorrow (American time).

The tech web news site, ZD Net, reckons that Windows 7 marked the high point of the personal computer era, as smart phones and tablets now do more work that once needed PCs.

ZD Net says PC sales have fallen for the last seven years though there was a small increase last year, largely because businesses needed to buy new PCs to run Windows 10.

Perhaps some Geeks on Kiwiblog can point to ways of still upgrading Windows 7 to Windows 10, for free. Or Linux in its varieties still appeals.

Google says it will support the Chrome browser on Windows 7 until at least July. Microsoft will continue to provide security updates for Windows 7 for up to three years to business users who buy extended security updates for each of their PCs.

    Me too and Windows 7 works well and I need to keep it going as drivers for Win10 are not available. I am so fed up of windows updates causing issues with printers taken off line and messing up e-mails etc that I have found a solution using a Linux machne and installing any windows versions as a file so windows is not visible on internet so no hacks of bots and Linux does not seem to have problems with malicious software. Bye Bye Bill, Oh an added benefit is Libre free software interfaces with Office.

      In many cases the windows 7 drivers will work fine under Windows 10.
      
      I’m still using my rather long in the tooth Laptop I bought in 2008.
      
      It’s had Vista, XP and few varieties of Linux on it, but it performs best with Windows 10.

    I used XP (dualbooting with Ubuntu Linux) until last year on my daily computer. It still went fine browsing the internet. I’ve since bought a second hand PC with 7 and surprisingly the upgrade to 10 assistant tool worked.
    
    In terms of design I still think 7 is the best of all Windows versions.

    I also have an old Lap Top which I use online and am still running Windows XP Pro, no problems whatsoever. It’s the most reliable of my Lap Tops!

  I have two laptops. One running 7 professional and one 10. I prefer the 7. For everything I do it is seems more straight forward.
  
  As Boeing found out with the 737 new is not always better. ?

  If you have a genuine Win 7 license, then using the Windows Media Creator to make a USB upgrade device still gave me a free upgrade about 6 months ago. Just skip the point of entering the Product ID during the process, then magically you find the new version is OS is installed and authenticated when finished.
  
  I can’t vouch for Win 7 Pro though – someone else can maybe help.

  News websites have heralded the end of desktop PC’s for the last 15 years. I still haven’t seen someone able to perform significant work on a tablet or smartphone alone (outside of marketing videos). They are useful tools, but they are not a replacement.
  
  I would put falling sales down to a reduced need to replace, previously change occurred so much faster and computers did not last as long.

    My old computer lasted me around 12 years until I changed it out last year for a second hand PC. A friend of mine was still using his he bought in 2003! I gave him a laptop (set up as a desktop) with a broken screen I was given which has a Core 2 Duo placing it around 2008/09 with a Linux distribution. He only ever uses it for news, emails and Trademe so it’ll last him.

  I’m truly amazed how many people tick the box to allow so called ‘important updates’ to be automatically installed. Totally unnecessary, 7 works fine without any updates. Prior to 7, I’ve been perfectly happy with using XP with SP2 without any updates all the way until Flash stopping working.
  TBH I’ve never been a fan of Chrome browser (I have Firefox) but I imagine there are plenty of others that will support 7 for years to come.
  As far as free upgrades are concerned, youtube lists several but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5ou4zbQ6mo looks the best.
  I have 7 and 10 but much prefer 7.

  Win 7, my preferred windows. I have it running in a virtual machine in this, 11 year old HP, laptop in Linux MX-19. I can use the two together.
  
  Win 7 was tightly coded and was the best of the line. Win 10 is going the way of earlier versions–too MS centred and continuing extensions becoming more intrusive and clumsier. A client’s printer was taken out the other day by a regular unannounced W10 upgrade and Windows OneNote substituted. A lot of software falls into that trap of constant “improvements” until it becomes impossible to maintain the software monster created.
  
  The W10 free upgrade path has been withdrawn. I will not be surprised if the next time I try to install Win 7 I need a few more tricks or it is even impossible. I am prepared to dispense with it.
  There is enormous waste for users with continuing upgrades. However new hardware like, say, a home management system controller, may force an upgrade. Faster for games is useful but not for email. This old machine is ready to use in 20-30 secs, has wifi, 4Gb ram and 320 hdd. It has a 1Tb drive attached. There is no reason why it should meet the trashcan. Win 7 runs fast on it. The present Linux version even faster. The apps are free including a version of Office which can swap files with MS. It is possible to get a computer refreshed like new for most purposes where extreme speed is not needed. Sometime old failed parts cannot be replaced but many PC’s can go on indefinitely. The Windows upgrades interfere with freedom.

    It’s certainly not possible to install WinXP, and this has been for several years. I found this out when someone who hadn’t upgraded to XPSP2 suddenly found they needed that to run some of their software. It wasn’t possible to do the upgrade as the MS servers required no longer existed online.

      I’ve done the activation even after XP SP3 support finished, by phone. Not sure about that now though.
      
      It’s still possible to install and use but after 30 days they force you to activate it.

    Intel is selling i5 processors with the suffix “F”. These don’t have inbuilt graphics.
    
    If you have to download a special Linux graphics card driver to install and run Linux on a PC with a graphics card, what would happen if you wanted to load Linux on say, a machine with an i9400F processor which has no graphics function?
    
    Presumably you couldn’t load the graphics-card Linux driver until the machine was up and running, and you couldn’t get the machine up and running without a graphics driver.

      Jack: Graphic drivers are varied. Some chips have built-in graphics. Some use stand-alone graphics cards (Geoforce etc).
      
      I have been using Linux PCs for over 20 years now. In the beginning there were some graphics driver quirks. Now, very few and I have seen none in the last 10 years or so. Just install Linux as a dual-boot and it all “just works”.
      
      My household has 7 Linux PCs in use (and has churned through at least 15 in the last ten years) and I have not had any graphics drivers with any of them.
      
      Still, if you are worried, download an Ubuntu (or whatever) live CD/USB boot image and you can give it a spin without modifying what is on your hard drive.

What is the religion of today? Its leftism.
While people still need a cause, still need a reason for living, still need a purpose, leftism tries to supply that purpose. It’s more than a political stance, it’s a religion.

Leftism says everything is political. And you should treat everything as political.

So fires in Australia? All to do with global warming and climate change! Political cause supplied. Purpose of life is to save the planet!

But leftism also needs an enemy. Leftism requires living in constant agitation and anger. Therefore you must be for a cause but you also need enemies. Enter Scott Morrison, a climate change denier! And a right of centre person. And a white male. And a Christian! What a horrible person he must be.

So the newspapers, who are enablers of this leftism, smear him. He went on holiday! He denies climate change! He’s the enemy. Let’s smear and destroy him. To save the world!

Can I just say leftism is a really bad religion. It’s turns a person into an offensive, angry prick basically.

We all need a purpose. Look for God. He’s a better reason for living than any politics, any party, any made up cause.

    As an atheist myself,
    I see merit in the behavioral “teachings”/ suggestions in the bible and considering our laws are based around this, worthy of following (in general).
    I find the description of history and it’s interpretation, within the bible interesting.
    But I am still an atheist and have no belief in God, however power to those who do genuinely believe in something more powerful than themselves.

Even if there is no God, the very fact that we can conceive of divinity, and infer from that the dignity possible for all people, gives us the moral and ethical imperative to do so. We no longer have a functioning media in this country and children are being increasingly brainwashed with Leftist dogma in our schools.     I am not happy about the extremist. divisive and alarmist nature of this section aimed to make children feel like they are at risk of serious disease and home significantly more so than adults who they claim are not taking any action. “Children’s Rights & Climate Change – Climate change poses a severe threat to children’s most basic rights, including those related to survival and wellbeing, health, food security and nutrition, water, and access to education. Some of the leading killers of children worldwide are highly sensitive to climate change. Higher temperatures have been linked to increased rates of malnutrition, cholera, diarrhoeal disease and vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria. Children’s underdeveloped immune systems put them at far greater risk of contracting these diseases and succumbing to their complications. Additionally, the loss of a parent or home due to a climate change induced natural disaster certainly changes a child’s world but it also can jeopardise their development. Furthermore, the role of climate change in exacerbating and compounding drivers of insecurity is likely to lead to more children being at risk of violence, exploitation and abuse, in both conflict and non-conflict settings.     I am not happy about this section. Which is essentially suggesting the kids to take political action. “Committing to Action – The actions can also include planning towards future and larger scale actions, such as planning a campaign, a website, a group, etc.”
    
    I am not happy about the lack of actual science. Page 2 has a useful diagram. But apart from that it is very very light on any actual science or description of how carbon impacts the atmosphere. Or the numbers associated with
    
    I am not happy that a teacher syllabus has typos in the headings “EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINAILITY”
    
    And I am not happy that their “myths busted” section doesn’t have any scientific references to actually back up their myths busted facts. Considering they claim sceptics are science deniers you would think that these science lovers would have more facts.

  Scott you are correct. Look at what has happened in NZ over the past 12 months.
  
  Post 15th Mar, despite being a pluralist democracy, if you weren’t decrying the mass shooting in Chch you were suddenly a right wing extremist. And worst still NZ harboured right wing extremist groups who were going to attack any recent migrant to NZ. So our self appointed guardians of NewsHub (the person with the face for radio) and RNZ kept telling us.
  To further prove the division the left (with the aid of a limp National party) rammed through Parliament gun laws that far exceeded removing semi-automatic military styles guns. Then in a bid to enforce the new “truth” the arms of the state have potentially taken it upon themselves to:
  1. Smear people with opposing in the media as though show such people are extreme;
  2. Apparently, breach the law in an effort to gather evidence of a potential crime;
  3. Even the DPM, has stated publically that oppoents who done nothing illegal, had been acting illegally and the police report would prove it; and
  4. Anybody debating and offering a different opinion to the orthodoxy that is “climate change” is labelled and smeared as a climate change denier and a right wing nut job.
  
  Such actions by politicians, their supports and state agencies is an abuse and misuse of power and it is not too far from some of the actions of totalitarian states.
  
  The irony for the left to ponder, is that Smith’s Dream (aka Sleeping Dogs) was based on a right wing government using an economic crisis to entrench the power of the state. Strange how if reports are to be believed, how the police are now using the powers and authority of the state in the pursuit of potential “criminality”.

  Its Hell is Global Warming (the religious seem to fear hot punishment), capitalists are the occupying Romans, Greta Thunberg is the mystic child who will save us, her father is a scheming version of Joseph, and the new Jerusalem is oft-freezing Stockholm.

One of the recent causes being advocated for by climate-activists is flight-shaming – attempting to attach stigma so as to discourage people from flying.

But here’s the counter-intuitive fact – flying is often just as fuel-efficient as ground travel.

Let’s take an example; flying from Nelson to Christchurch in an ATR 42 turboprop. The aircraft might typically burn around 440L of fuel for this trip (fuel-use will vary depending on exact flight plan, weather, etc. but this is a realistic number). The aircraft has 48 seats, which airlines try to fill as much as possible. For easy math let’s say 44 passengers (92% occupancy), that’s 10L of fuel per person.

Driving the same trip (using the inland route through the Lewis Pass) is 415 km. Assuming a mid-range sedan (Toyota Corolla or similar) getting around 16 km/l, that would use just under 26 L for the trip. And now it comes down to occupancy. The math is pretty simple – if you only have one or two people in the car (hardly an uncommon situation), it would use less fuel to have flown.

Now that’s just one specific scenario with assumed numbers, but it illustrates the broad strokes of the argument. While they consume lots of fuel in absolute terms, once you divide by the number of passengers they carry (and unlike cars, airlines have a strong incentive to fill planes up as much as possible) and distance traveled, aircraft can often use the same or less fuel to get N people from A to B. This becomes especially true once you consider that a scheduled commercial flight is going to happen regardless of whether or not you use it, and the plane will burn close enough to the same amount of fuel whether there are 44 or 45 people on board. Maximizing vehicle occupancy is the best way to reduce emissions, and that’s true whether the travel is by car, plane, or train.

Like so many other targets of climate-activists, flight-shaming is misguided. The bottom line is, for a given trip you can’t really know whether flying will produce more or less emissions than getting there on the ground. The only sure way to significantly reduce travel emissions is to reduce the distance you travel, and confine yourself to a (literally) smaller world.

        If they were really serious about climate change they’d run all the presentations and workshops using teleconferencing instead of jetting hundreds of people all over the world. It’s just an opportunity for everyone in the climate change industry to get a junket to Bonn or Madrid in business class, stay in a nice hotel for a week, eat at some fancy restaurants on the taxpayer, and then tack on another week at the end for a holiday.

  Last weekend I went to Waimarama Beach for the Central Regional surf champs. I was taking my son, a bunch of surf gear and food and drink for two days. Some people stayed in the campgrounds, needing large family tents and associated gear. One guy brought (on a trailer) the 10 surf skis, and similar numbers of boards. Another brought the big boat for the row event.

    I’m not particularly advocating for either driving or flying for travel. They both have their advantages, and my own travels are a mix of flights (sometimes getting a rental car at the destination, sometimes not) and roadtrips.
    
    My point is that the flight-shaming movement is, at best, massively oversimplifying things by demonising flying. As is typical of these things it’s far less rational assessment of what actions will reduce emissions, and more about creating things for activists to virtue-signal about.

        Well, if you are claiming that Anne Salmond is responsible for a particular interpretation of NZ history, but there is an ‘actual history’, then I thought it reasonable to suppose you had some idea of what that actual history is. Seems not.
        Perhaps I could give an example to help. The best known general histories of New Zealand are:

        A History of New Zealand by Keith Sinclair
        Making Peoples/Paradise Reforged by James Belich
        The Penguin History of New Zealand by Michael King

        This is BS. Australia is 769.2 Million ha, and they are talking about 5m ha being burned, with upper estimates of 10m ha, and some exaggerating at 15m ha. At the lower end, 5m ha is 0.65% and at the other end 15m ha is 1.95% While this is a lot of area, not to be down played, the 1974 fires were 117m ha and so over 15%. So what is being seen now is NOT unprecedented. Admittedly, this was 45 years ago, and a lot of the people reporting on this weren’t even alive then, and are too bloody laze or ideologically driven to do some research.

There is all the usual howling of rage and gnashing of teeth because there are not enough ‘people of colour’ (blacks) and women in the final nominations by all the ‘luvvies’!

Maybe it is not good enough to just have a ‘front bum’ (Auckland mayoral candidate, John Tamahere who is both a fb and a person of colour) and non white to win an award, maybe they were not metorious or just plain old sucked.

I think we need to see more skinny non colour boys and girls playing professional basketball because all we see is these super tall talented black dudes popping baskets after four steps from one end of the court to the other and that is just ‘wasist’

The indigenous descent of Australian “Aboriginal” writer Bruce Pascoe has been questioned. Pascoe writes under the pen names Murray Gray and Leopold Glass as well as under his own name.

With intermarriage in New Zealand now a couple of centuries old, ahead are bound to be disputes about Maori heritage. Once, everyone wanted to be white, now no-one wants to be white.

An Aboriginal businesswoman, Josephine Cashman, has accused Pascoe of financially benefiting from incorrectly claiming to be indigenous, and the Federal Home Affairs Minister, Peter Dutton, has referred the complaint to the Australian Federal Police.

Wikipedia says that, in his early thirties, Pascoe started investigating his ancestry, remembering his uncle having mentioned Aboriginal ancestry, and identified himself as Koori by the age of 40. He found Aboriginal ancestors on both sides of his family, including from Tasmania (Palawa), from the Bunurong people of the Kulin nation of Victoria, and from the Yuin of southern New South Wales.

He said that his family denied their own “Aboriginality” for a long time, and it was only when he investigated the “glaring absences” in the family’s story that he was drawn into Aboriginal society and culture.

The idea of “blood” is a misnomer. My wife has some Māori features, like her mother and many aunts and uncles. Her brother has none, like me.

    Tthe Maori woman’s result Minsk refers was probably with one of the home-DNA tests with a genealogy site such as Ancestry. This article from Scientific American summarises the tests in a readable way:
    
    When it comes to ancestry, DNA is very good at determining close family relations such as siblings or parents, and dozens of stories are emerging that reunite or identify lost close family members (or indeed criminals). For deeper family roots, these tests do not really tell you where your ancestors came from. They say where DNA like yours can be found on Earth today. By inference, we are to assume that significant proportions of our deep family came from those places. But to say that you are 20 percent Irish, 4 percent Native American or 12 percent Scandinavian is fun, trivial and has very little scientific meaning.

  Genealogists have thoroughly investigated Pascoe’s ancestral history and have found absolutely no evidence of any aboriginal ancestry. All the tribes he claims to be linked to have also denied he has their ancestry and aborigines are fully versed in their ancestral ties. It is an important part of their culture. He is thoroughly British and is nothing more than a chancer and fraudster. He has made a heap of money from his claims. Interesting to see it is now being investigated. I saw him interviewed on Sky News last night. Boy was he back pedalling without actually admiring his fraud.

If you are so clever, mm, it is easy enough to search birth registers, immigration records, census records etc, as those reporting him have done. His ancestry is British. My partner was held up in Victoria Street for yonks yesterday when an old crapped out diesel burning double-decker Chinese operated Tourist Bus slipped its handbrake and careered down the hill….running over a poor lady pushing a baby in her pram – and causing lots of other damage!

    Be fair, he did have lots of help from his Cabinet colleagues. They are the ones who decided that Landlords were parasites who needed to be punished, and that tenants needed the rights to stay where they wanted, own pets, do renovation, and have rent controls.
    
    My house is single glazed, I doubt it would qualify to be a rental. Just like 85% of all the other owner occupied housing in New Zealand.
    
    Every single time Government, anywhere in the world messes with the housing market, the result is entirely predictable.
    
    Not a crisis yet? Hold my beer and watch this, says every socialist goverment.
    
    If I was to be fair, allowing 700,000 extra New Zealanders into the country, and not investing in infrastructure, does give you an entirely predictable set of problems – New Zealand has always been the home of the half-arsed solution, half a motorway, half a Harbour bridge, half a railway, and half of a sewage system.
    
    Perhaps if the Nats hadnt been so scared of PPPs or genuine innovation in infrastructure we might have got somewhere? Under Labour we never will, these pillocks still think roads are bad – incidentally, where has all the new fuel tax money gone – it certainly hasnt been spent on infrastructure?

      I’m with them on pets. As a homeowner wanting to build a new home, I’m going to have to rent while it happens. Because I want to build in a place with very few rentals available, having pets cuts the available options for renting by two-thirds, because of some phobia about pets on the part of landlords based on some horror stories about people who weren’t good tenants, their pets being a symptom, not the cause of the problem stories.

        Even if a vacancy ad says no pets, can always ask and make a good case. Not that unusual for most applicants for a tenancy to be considered unsuitable, so an otherwise good tenant could easily be successful even with pets. Some applicants provide pet references.
        
        Why should landlords take a risk if they don’t have to? Especially where tenants have limited responsibility for damage and even if found responsible, good luck with getting paid.

        I have much experience of cats. Between furballs, stropping the carpets and doors to sharpen their claws, and generally being little furry cunts, I think they have caused at least $10k damage to the place (not to mention the shredded leather couches)!
        
        Don’t get me wrong, I like cats and have had at least one since I was 10. But, lets not be blind to the damage they cause, and often out of boredom, or for fun (the rodent release stratagem!).

  Agree, those tax free capital gains and no tenant hassles look pretty good these days. It is worth mentioning though that some of the rental shortage is not due to this government but to the Reserve Bank’s change to LVRs. Back in mid 2016 around $2.5billion a month bank lending went into rental housing. These days about $1billion.
  
  That gap represents thousands of rentals a month not built or bought into the pool. Meanwhile, population increases.

    I work with a national children’s NGO. Sadly we get to see some of the more tragic circumstances endured by kiwi kids. In our experience, one of the biggest indicators of anxiety in children is them living in benefit dependent households.

The Volcanoes tend to cool the atmosphere, and seem to be waking up in response to muons destabilizing the silica rich magmas, which are entering the earth as the GSM progresses. Just had a call from Mrs HK relaying her encounter this morning with one of the “new entitled” people we must all respect.

On a rural unsealed road in Rodney my wife drives round a blind corner to encounter a cyclist stop dead in the middle of the lane in the road on his mobile phone. He had not even moved over to the berm/verge (which is ample at this spot along said road). In her words, “he was still astride the crossbar of his bike taking his call”.
Needless to say, MrsHK passed said cyclist, planted her foot and gave him a good cloud of dust and gravel.

As someone who grew up cycling and has completed marathon bike ride events in the UK and competed in triathlons, it is examples such as my wife’s encounter that really annoys me and the fellow residents of our area off to cyclists. One day soon, we are all expecting that because of their arrogance, self entitlement and ignorance, that one of the cyclists will (God forbid) become a fatality and such incident will involve a local. This is because these dumb self entitled cyclists insist on riding in the middle of rural gravel round that contains an uneven surface, numerous potholes and blind corners. When such an event occurs, it is almost a certainty that unfortunate local in their SUV or commercial ute will be demonised by the Green/Labour supporting fraternity. But the reality will be that the arrogant sh*t head cyclist was riding in a manner, that said “I am an accident waiting to happen, so be warned motorist”.

    Komata, yes. I’ll admit to doing a triathlon at Karipiroro in the late 1980s (a Phillippa Baker benefit). I can understand “road lice” being a problem in your parts.
    
    Our problem is our local roads are poorly maintained goat tracks at the best of times, add cyclists and you have a recipe for a disaster.
    
    Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti-cycling, I just have a problem with the modern cavalary charging, holier than thou, lycra clad, road riding virtue signallers. What these dumb as* idiots is that people live, work and travel along the shi**y rural roads out of necessity and what we do not appreciate are these people endangering our lives and theirs!
    
    Komata, this is not aimed at you, but I am being as emphatic as possible, because I’ve had near misses also and I do not want to wear one of these idiots on the front of our vehicles. I can also assure you when we had our toad’s annual get together at Christmas, the “road lice” as you put it were commonly bemoaned by all those in attendance!

Being reported on the RNZ website this lunchtime is a nightmare (of Helen Clark proprtions) from 2019. It is reported that the Maori Council are going to the High Court to get the 2019 Waitangi Tribunal decision on Maori having Customary Rights over NZ’s fresh water validated http://www.rnz.co.nz

        mikenmildagain, since Maori were the ones who said it, as part of their oral history, I tend to believe it, along with the thousands of pieces of evidence collected over the years. Which of course you have to disbelieve and discredit with 110% certainty.
        
        So tell me mikenmildagain, what evidence can you provide that confirms with 110% certainty that people were not here before the Tahitian Maori? In this instance, it is very difficult to prove a negative, when you weren’t here. Do you have records of a life sign scan from your spaceship? Did you run a census? Did you travel the length and breadth of NZ, in the months prior? No, I though not.
        
        You see mikenmildagain, it is impossible to say with any degree of certainty that there was not a living soul in NZ before the Maori, unless you were here at the time and had conducted a thorough search. And when artifacts and evidence dating back thousands of years get discovered, it is hard to refute.
        
        It is the same argument about UFOs. Some people are insistent that they don’t exist, that they were squid boat lights or Venus. Having seen a few UFOs, and knowing that others have been photographed and captured on broadcast quality film, and tracked on NZ radar going really fast at high altitude, it is clear evidence that they exist. Squid boats do not fly, and Venus cannot enter our atmosphere, and neither can be tracked on radar. The truth is people that claim they don’t exist in the face of the hard evidence, do so because of fear of the unknown, or unconsciously fear their belief structures will collapse like a house of cards.
        
        This concept is also true for you and much of what happens on this blog. You don’t want it to be true.
        
        A true scientist (you are nothing of the sort) would be intrigued and want to know the truth, and have a sense of awe with the new discoveries. They would want to avail themselves of the evidence.
        
        But no, you are behaving like a one-eyed bigot only interested in discrediting the truth.

        Well that’s a revelation. I didn’t know printing presses were here in NZ sitting waiting for the first canoes.
        
        A lesson in sequence mikey. The written word is derived from the spoke word and evidence. And there are plenty of books that document the evidence and artifacts going back thousands of years.
        
        So I can safely assume that by proper book, is a book that supports your ideas, not any contradictory ideas.
        
        And as for oral history? The entire Treaty of Waitangi and all payouts are founded on oral history, and CURRENT ownership. It is just that a number of tribes were very open about the existence of prior inhabitants that they conquered.

First poll results are in

* Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s personal ratings have tumbled over his handling of the country’s wildfire crisis, adding to pressure on his government to shift course on its climate change policies.

Morrison has suffered an 8-point drop in his approval ratings since December, according to a Newspoll published by The Australian newspaper on Monday, and an 11-point increase in those dissatisfied with his performance.

The Liberal-National coalition government also lost its 4-point lead over the main opposition Labor party and now trails 49 per cent to 51 per cent.*

      And that is exactly the point! Despite all the ‘We’re leaving and just wanna be normal people’ wailing, these three are still in need of security and MEghan is in need of ongoing public adulation and adoration.
      
      Had they just quietly ‘faded away into the sunset’ and settled in Canadian suburbia, there would have been more respect and understanding, perhaps even sympathy, but MEghan doesn’t want that.
      
      She has bought into the whole ‘Disney Princess’ narrative and as a result (and as of right) expects the lower (mere), mortals, to continually admire her. Narcissism has been mentioned in that regard.
      
      Based on her previous performances and interaction with various family members and supposed best friends, I (and others as well) would give the relationship a year, before either the money runs out or another sugar daddy comes along.
      
      Harry does at least have flying skills so should be able to go into Helicopters as a pilot. MEghan is however another matter and I doubt she will do the ‘Mummy’ thing; it’s too boring and unexciting, and as a result a Nanny will appear to act as a surrogate; abandoned kids are in all societies.
      
      As I said, a year, but not much longer; narcissim is always highly destructive to those around the ‘sufferer’.
      
      Time will tell, pity the males in her life…

        I think you are being overly harsh. I think Harry is delighted he has found a woman who has her own values, can think for herself, and that challenges him, rather than a royal doormat.
        
        Ask the women in your life, who would they prefer to be? And who would you prefer to marry? Kate or Meghan? I very much respect the Monarchy, but Harry and Meghan do not have a future in royalty, and being individuals, they would find it hard to fit into the formal cookie cutter life that was laid out before them. And certainly not with the very evident hypocrisy floating around aka Prince Andrew. Maybe they do not want to be there when the shit truly hits the fan.
        
        Harry has never had full closure about his mother’s death, and with Prince Charles firmly ensconced with Camilla, and always having been distance between Harry and his father (if he is his father), it would make it more difficult.
        
        I applaud the both of them, and I don’t think it is all about Meghan, despite what the tabloids hoping to boost ratings are inclined to print. I suspect that the tabloids play on things, including the lack of communication prior to the announcement.
        
        Prince Harry has balls, and has much better leadership qualities than William. He is more down to earth, outgoing, and open than William, who is more like Charles. I’d rather have Harry as king than William any day of the week.

      Sorry to burst your bubble chaos, but when the CIA or NSA conduct “surveillance” (you missed the gentle quote marks), they don’t want you to know about it, so sending you an invoice asking you to pay, would kind of defeat the purpose.
      
      In this case the “surveillance” will be British based on orders from the throne, but the same principle applies.

    Unless money per se is the sole measure of success I’d say she’s been utterly ruined for life. Her Asperger’s / Autism issues have not been dealt with but nurtured and magnified, to the point where her soul individuality has been quashed and she has effectively become an automaton.
    
    Plus all that karma from manipulating the media, and brain washing people and impacting their outcomes. Her mental future is not all that bright. Her soul is going to suffer for a very long time.
    
    When you elevate people in positions of power that they end up abusing, it comes at a very high price. Power is a responsibility, not a sanction to manipulate and control. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
    
    In her case her mental disorders were manipulated by others, and she has become what Hans Asperger referred to as an autistic psychopath or “intelligent automata.” Very sad indeed.
    
    The more the world gives her attention and praise, the more obsessive she will get, and the more ingrained her issues will become, including the manifest hate she possesses for certain sectors of the West. From an indoctrination point of view, what has happened to her bears a striking similarity to what must have happened to Tarrant over his life, only the message is different.

FFS,I was just watching ABC news and nearly choked on my beer when it was quoted ” the Irishman is the 2020 favourite for the Oscars best movie” FFUUUUUCCKK ,any person that has seen this flick all the way through deserves a medal because it in my opinion the worst movie ever made , even the “Turkey shoot” was more watchable.
