3. Much CCP influence in NZ is discovered, including in both major political parties.

4. Labour will not, in its present form, survive as government beyond 2021.

      And after Joe Biden is inaugurated, you’ll point to the fake Trump inauguration as proof that you won the bet.

Presumably the same angst will apply to all those ‘gayests-in-the-village’ appropriating nuns outfits, YMCA INdian headdresses, superhero costumes and Marmite/Sodomite costumes (as in past Wellington Santa Parades, I kid you not). Pride marches and Mardis Gras will be so bland.

Or does it only apply to “the Right” (even if LGB) while the Left can ( hypocritically) “do no evil” (Hollywood black facing ad nausem).

        Bad luck Mike.
        The best Caber thrower in the 1970’s was actually a Yorkshireman, Arthur Rowe. He had been a world class shotputter but after an excursion into Rugby League he was declared a professional and could not go back to the strictly amateur sport and took to the Highland Games circuit.
        He won everything in sight from about 1963 to 1970 in the Highland Games throwing events like the caber and the shotput and hammer throw.
        He competed of course in a kilt. As a very large, very strong man I doubt if anyone would have the nerve to object to his attire.

I understand there has been seen in Wellington a new bird flying around the Parliamentary precinct.
It has been named the Ardern-Mallard and rather than a duck is more like an Albatross.
It is expected to hang around for some time unless it is captured as a large smell is following it.
The only way will be to eliminated this Albatross as soon as possible as otherwise the smell will continue for some time.
Another $50 million brown envelope may help as the economy appears to be booming again, as Robertson, a smell reducer keeps saying.

    I heard an interview on the radio with a Kiwi who lives in Taiwan and he explained the measures taken to suppress COVID-19 in that country.
    It made our lockdown sound like a walk in the park & would have been unacceptable to enough NZers not to have have worked here.
    The NZ style lockdown, in turn, would not have worked in America no matter who was in charge.

I was pleased to see two of the roastbusters were charged last night and the third will be if he ever sets foot in NZ .

The odds on any of our media bringing up Willie Jackson mocking and victim blaming one of the victims live on air and minimising what these disgusting creatures did are probably on a par with the odds of a one legged cat burying its turd in a frozen pond .

  Darryl Kerrigan is on the phone regarding the likelihood of a conviction here.
  
  Unfortunately this is more in line with police processes regarding suspected rape nowadays. Rather than themselves trying to establish the burden of proof they forward this on the courts to decide. Ironically brought in after the roast busters.
  
  Hate to sound like Ramsay Bolton but unless there is some very good new evidence here there is unlikely to be the happy ending many are hoping for.

Simply, it seems Mallard realised his mistake within about 24 hours but instead of correcting it in any way, let the staffer be dismissed, resulting in his present ill-health and costing taxpayers $330,000 in legal fees, with compensation or damages likely, and still to be determined by other legal action.
Mallard claims a technicality in the meaning of a word, “rape”, that is understood by most people to be a particularly serious assault, and illogically suggesting he shouldn’t have got involved in a situation that his own mistake had created.
So after allowing this apparent deception to carry on for about 570 days, Mallard still believes his employment as judge of other’s behaviour, honesty and good conduct, should continue unquestioned?

Mark Levin on “evidence” again, and how the media and other political analysts don’t actually know what they’re talking about – confusing civil and criminal cases.

When you bring a civil suit – as opposed to criminal charges against somebody – When you file a civil complaint you need “a reasonable basis in fact and law”. Allegations can be made on information and belief. A motion to dismiss tests the legal sufficiency of the complaint – assuming everything in the complaint is true.

Does it state a claim upon which relief can be granted? That’s the test. Not “look at all the evidence I have to get rid of a quarter of a million votes”. I think Professor Turley would agree with me. I think Mr. McCarthy would understand this, even though neither of them point that out.

So, for motion to dismiss, everything is assumed to be true and all reasonable inferences are granted to the plaintiff. Is that what’s happened here? Of course not. Then they say, “you gotta hurry up, I gotta hurry up I got deadlines, you know”. Okay, so what can judges do when there are deadlines? And they’ve done it many times. You order expedited discovery. Can do it right there, from the bench, particularly when injunctive relief is sought by temporary restraining order or preliminary injunction. Courts have the power to speed discovery along, and they do it all the time and it can be very fast. We haven’t had any courts do that; in fact the vast majority them haven’t wanted to look, “we don’t want to look I’m turning the other cheek. I’m not looking”.

Let’s talk about machines, and ballots. “Unexplained significant deviations from expected results”, in other words mathematical inconsistency supported by experts, is more than sufficient to establish a reasonable basis to file a complaint to overcome dismissal. And to justify fast discovery. Where was that done? In one tiny little County. And that’s it

    Possibly, but what they probably won’t do is attempt any more projects involving building on Maori-owned land.
    
    This precedent is immensely damaging to Maori economic interests. If it is really the case that Maori-owned land cannot be sold or developed without the binding agreement of every single individual who has any shred of interest in the land – then that land is effectively worthless. That is a lot of Maori wealth gone, just like that.

        Megan Woods will waste $Xm building houses on newly gifted Maori land which will have no resale value because nobody in their right minds would buy any of it when there is a likelihood Maori will once again illegally occupy said land.
        All this doesn’t address future claims Maori will make on already settled Crown/Maori Treaty agreements.

As Levin points out, the justices on the court are scared. They are scared for themselves and for their families. They have seen what Antifa, BLM, and other mobs can do – harassing those they disagree with, going to their houses and places of business, threatening them and their family members. The Supreme Court has been cowed by threats of violence and thus some laws are now meaningless – eg, the law stating only the State legislature can change anything around elections, electors and voting. It’s now meaningless. SCOTUS have sat out this whole thing out of fear.

      As I have said two or three times here over the last week – Texas had no standing to put up this case (under Article III, Section 2) to the Court, because it was never going to be able to demonstrate that it had been injured or damaged by the lawful actions of the Defendant States.
      
      Why do you keep ignoring that simple fact?
      
      For example, is Texas, right now, suffering harm equivalent to that which would occur by way of, for example—
      
      (a) a boundary dispute with a neighbouring State; or
      
      (b) another State transporting their (say) toxic waste to Texas, and dumping it there; or
      
      (c) its citizens being injured as a result of an unconstitutional tax imposition by another State; or
      
      (d) another State allocating water in such a manner as to disadvantage Texas?
      
      Of course not. Texas simply was never going to be able to put up “clear and convincing evidence” that the actions of the Defendant States had injured or damaged it. Consequently, Texas was unable to establish standing to bring the action it did against the Defendant States.
      
      As Rick Hasen, a law and political science professor at the University of California-Irvine, tweeted last week, it was only a “publicity stunt masquerading as a lawsuit”.
      
      It was never going to fly. The Court’s decision to decline to hear the case had nothing to with the justices being fearful for themselves or for their families.

  You must be surely aware that excessive ID requirements is a well known voter suppression device, with a long history against black voters. I imagine the SC would be well aware of that, and would be ultra cautious about accepting any cases on that basis.
  As you well know, we don’t require voter ID when we vote in New Zealand. You simply have to tell the polling clerk you name and address. That is enough for them to identify you on the roll. When you have voted and your name is crossed out, no one else can legitimately vote. If there is a double vote, it is picked up on the full cross check which occurs during the official count over the next two weeks. There are basically zero double votes. As a basis of electoral fraud on any scale it is impossible, which is why it never happens. Either here or in the US.

    Yes, I am aware, and it was usually a tactic employed by Democrats – including polling taxes and literary tests. But these days it is not unreasonable.
    
    Everyone needs an I.D to get on a plane, prove their age in a bar, get a driver’s license, join a library etc. But when it comes to voting, somehow it doesn’t matter? Why not have that safeguard? As I said, practically everyone will have an I.D of one sort or another, and they aren’t hard to get.

    And I say that is actual bollocks in the U.S. Dems changed laws in states so that mail-in ballots didn’t require postal marks, signatures didn’t need to match the ones on file, ballots could be received after election day etc. Heck, states even mailed out ballots to everyone on their election lists – not knowing if those people had died, had moved to another state, etc, and received those back not really knowing WHO had filled it out. In short, they removed all safeguards.

  Vinyl is far more expensive to make than CDs and the machinery uses more power, is larger, is clunky and harder to maintain. Distribution is more expensive too (bigger, more fragile etc).
  
  … and now it’s also niche so people will pay more.
  
  When processes change, the older process gets cheaper for a bit because second tier manufacturers can buy all the old machinery cheaply but then gets more expensive because the newer processes are more efficient.

There are similar initiatives in Auckland already, through the Courts and Police, to try and treat the causes of minor offending rather than its effect. They seem to have been quite successful, particularly the drug Court, which monitors people with addictions to check their progress with programmes. However, they do not provide a defence as is proposed in Seattle. Necessity has never been defence to, for example, shoplifting because of hunger, as the law requires that there be imminent serious harm before criminality is excused. Diversion and discharge provide a better half-way house than creating a defence, as they can be utilised to compel compliance with programmes, and the recognition and acceptance of offending is often important to help an offender complete treatment.
