Jacinda Ardern needs to change her attitude as she could be in for a rude awakening if she believes lies account for tough calls.
Speaking to TVNZ Ardern said she was still pleased at the level of support she was getting.
“I do have to make some tough calls and they do impact on peoples lives, but I still feel heartened to have support too”.
If dropping 15% in one poll means it is tough calls the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is in dreamland and can’t distinguish lies from tough calls with Covid- 19 still playing a major roll .

Pretends to be representative of Kiwis so that people blindly get in behind (some don’t even know why, they just go with the crowd), when in reality the whole thing is totally corrupted by overseas interests and has nothing to do with the lives of “everyday New Zealanders.” The result is a slickly marketed, highly astroturfed sense of “team spirit” among the deluded masses, pumped-up by the brainless talking heads on Network TV.   The PM has been clever enough to cut Mike Hosking’s oxygen supply. Next, she could consider a positive plan on how to deal with 501 deportees because getting in an argument with Scotty each time builds his profile and weakens hers/ours. Pragmatism is required as Aussie will not change its position. I think New Zealanders would like to know what is happening internally with 501s who it is clear some are parents separating from their children and even appears to be children separated from their parents, some requiring psychiatric services and others gang members or addicts. I read that Jerry expressed concern about the 15-year-old separated from his parents, so how about a cross-party approach including JC? NZ needs to show its capabilities in unusual situations.

        Frank, this while issue comes back to the decision made by the Howard Government to make it nearly impossible for Kiwis to become Australian citizens after Oct 2000 or whatever the date was.
        
        Flossie is right. There are currently hundreds of thousands of ex-kiwis and children of emigrants who pay taxes but can’t vote and can’t become citizens. IMO it is bordering on a breach of human rights for at least a portion of those who were there at the time and got done over.

        Batman, you are eligible to vote in Oz once you are given Permanent Residence status, which takes only six months or so. The answer is to keep your nose clean and get a lawyer to do the work for you – it is my understanding that kiwis have no problem gaining citizenship provided the record is clean, and go through the correct channels.

        PR is a slow and expensive process. You need more than just a 6-month clean nose. Citizenship is not too hard after that.
        
        There are an awful lot of Kiwis living lawfully in Oz on SCV’s who would have no show of ever getting PR. Usually related to not earning enough money or not having in-demand skills. Many have been living there and working and paying taxes for a long time.
        
        I think Jacinda’s beef relates to the export of baddies who have lived in Oz since they were kids and learned their trade in Oz. Due to lack of paperwork they are Kiwis and can be dumped here. Some of the 501’s coming here do not even have criminal records, just a history of associating with folk who do and therefore must be “of bad character”. Some of them leave behind partners and children. It is what it is …
        
        Exporting a 15 year old seems a bit harsh. No doubt he is several kinds of thug, but 15 year olds don’t usually get treated like adults in the justice system.

    Australia are not separating his child from his parents. It the 15 year old is still a kiwi then so are his parents. So his parents are welcome to accompany him but are choosing not to. So it is them that are making this kid an orphan.

  Farmers and horticulturists will be feeling especially hard done by as fruit rots on trees, crops don’t get harvested, and essential farm work can’t be done because there’s no one to do it.
  
  Not that Labour will be worried at all though; all the “creatives” who vote for them will be absolutely delighted, and I’m sure the PM will get complementaries for opening night.

    Tomato growers are getting $0.09 a kg right now, oddly, I don’t see cheap tomato’s at the supermarket? This is not uncommon.

  These are paying taxes and keeping primary industries running and Supply Chains operating.

      I missed my chance for repatriation during escalation of Myanmar due to impossible MIQ voucher system and hence cant fly. Thereby potentially stranded. Not the place or time to be stranded in Myanmar thats for sure.
      FWIW last run up under darkness up the Yangon River and out again to Thailand, Then Singapore.
      Things ( as expected) are detoriating day by day.

Weird priorities.

How come NZ is allowing a huge cast of performers into the country for a show that can be seen on dvd or netflix, while not allowing in RSE workers to pick our crops?

The former contribute to our imports, while the latter contribute to our exports. Net result, GDP falls.

I read where there is going to be quarantine free travel between Niue and New Zealand commencing 24th March. My guess there is going to be a family reunion at Easter. Can someone check with Clarke.

  I believe it is just one way quarantine free with Kiwis still not allowed up there and at one flight every 2 weeks I am not sure how many would want to be up there for that long anyway.
  This is not a green shoot just a transport corridor, I have a feeling bubbles will not open at all this year unless remaining closed becomes a political liability and then watch the warp speed at which they reopen.

Apparently by 10 March, 18,000 people had received the first round of vaccines. A close family member is from a Pasifika community, aand he tells me there is a widespread belief within it that the reason Maori and Pacific people are being prioritised is so they can be guinea pigs for the vaccine, and many will refuse. If that attitude is widespread in South Auckland, what are the prospects of a successful rollout to 80% of the population? If only 18.000 doses have been delivered out of a total of 10 million, how will the system deliver on its promises? There is a pretty deathly silence out there.

  Seems incredible that no-one in their community is aware that this vaccine has already had one lot of official testing overseas and been administered to many thousands of people in other countries before it got here.
  What are their local MP’s, church & union leaders, etc. doing about this? Surely a time for leadership if ever there was one.
  
  Since you can’t force medication on people, I guess the rollout will just have to move on to populations who will accept it. The people of Queenstown seem keen. Maybe as they see everyone else getting vaccinated, they will start to want it too.

      They have actually outgrown the building, they have also leased the old Royal Society building opposite the American Embassy.
      As far as I know some of the Glenmore St building is used for staff quarters. It used to be an apartment block until the Chinese Government purchased the whole building in the 1970’s and ended the tenancies. I think that even the Ambassador originally lived there.

The Minister for Hypocrites, Jacinda Ardern and her government are at it again.

On the one hand they continuously complain about Australia legally deporting serious violent and sexual kiwi criminals from Australia (and rightly so regardless of age, gender etc Welcome to real Equality), and her government promoting a mantra/slogan of “Being Kind.”

On the other hand, they are deporting an entire family for taking food stamps to feed their family during the level 4 lockdown.

  I applaud this. We don’t need foreigners bringing kids here we have to end up subsidising through our taxes. We should have a guest worker programme where one parent only can stay and work. The family and relatives can stay in their county of origin, thanks. No “free” health and education for their little ones and other taxpayer top-ups.

    No pin up for injustice here. This is not like the small business people who don’t make enough cash to be allowed to stay, and despite employing people in NZ, are forced to leave.

    I think the Aussie are doing the right thing too BTW. A bad policy for NZ, but a good one for them. Just a shame the deportees aren’t sent to Norfolk, like back in the day of the original Australian penal colony.

I remember when

Interesting conversation with mother, in Texas, of quadruplets with Duncan Garner.
The children, still in high chairs, have all tested positive for covid-19.
The mother has no idea where they can have become infected. In her words they are virtually in managed isolation.
Also mentioned that her husband and her were considered to have caught it although they both tested negative.

  The Government used a workaround to buy the contested land from Fletcher’s for $30 million, taking cash from a KiwiBuild programme called Land for Housing, but Treasury says that’s not what the programme was designed for.

  It seemed illegal for Ardern to be the one who halted construction on Fletchers’ site to start with.
  So why not end this situation as illegally as it started, regarding Government involvement.
  But then it is still on-going isn’t it, requiring still a publicly announcement on the entire resolved situation, or did I miss that?
  
  So to get it right: Ardern called a halt to Fltecher construction of housing, but has now purchased the land, from Fletchers for $11m more than Fletchers paid, under a KiwiBuild programme called Land for Housing.
  As all suburb planning to date belongs to Fletchers, Government will start from scratch if the land is genuinely for housing, but they otherwise need to divulge details of the deal immediately to confirm it is not for some other purposes – like let it fail, as have seemed to be the demise of other Kiwibuild linked projects, and suddenly transfer it to New Zealand Heritage (where, if the Government was acquiring the land, it should have been to start with – independent of the Treaty claims).

  This govt is completely irresponsible with money. Expenditure by Govt is supposed to be by way of a formal Vote process in parliament which requires scrutiny. Even the introduction of Bill proposing expenditure requires Notice.
  
  The Voting of vast global slush funds is contrary to the whole spirit of financial control. The reported antics of using COVID monies for sneaking land purchase is outrageous, matched only by the act of snatching the land by force from its legal owners. The Police were put in their place (Ardern R.’s say so) while that infamous act occurred.
  
  The Audit Office should undo the transaction and surcharge those responsible.

Our ‘News’ might be parroting lies about how the London police handled the demonstrations that arose at the weekend purportedly in protest against violence against women.
The ignition point supposedly was the death of a woman, Sarah Everard, allegedly at the hands of a policeman, on her way home.
One of my Facebook folks is a London policeman – a sergeant, from memory. And he was there.
He says:
‘All was peaceful during the day but as dusk fell rent a mob arrived. Firstly speakers with loud hailers started talking on the Bandstand.
‘This drew the crowds in, police engaged with and asked people to disperse and to desist from their actions. Officers were then assaulted and missiles were thrown at them.
‘Then and only then did they move in to remove those stirring things up.
‘Twenty-eight officers received injuries. None serious, though, but that’s not the point. Police vehicles were vandalised as well.
‘All in all it was fine till the [extremists] showed up. Maybe we got suckered in but what else could we do? We could not walk away once they had ceased socially distancing and had become confrontational.’

‘The News’ is not telling us WHY Ms Everard’s death has exploded into these protests. I don’t mean to sound callous but surely more women are killed in the UK than one lone white woman walking home. Who are the opportunists exploiting this?

  Why the police intervened is irrelevant. The fact is they haven’t really intervened early in any meaningful manner to break up previous lockdown-breaking demonstrations in the UK.
  
  It’s not a good look to finally decide to enforce the law when it involves manhandling a group comprised pretty much solely of women. It looks like either cowardace (wouldn’t touch any demo with men there) or sexism.

The issue is the worsening homeless and growing number of people in Motels at the govt expense. Instead Duncan focused on Nationals response to housing 4 plus years ago.

If true this is disturbing. But surprising. My recollection was there was overwhelming support for the Muslim community in Christchurch. Indeed this article notes that this widow was given so much money from donations that she paid off her mortgage!

I just cannot believe that her 13 year old daughter will be better off in Egypt than here. It just does not compute that a 13 year old girl is being taken to Egypt to escape New Zealand hate.

I don’t think this is the full story. It is more likely that the mother is the one who wants to return to Egypt and is using alleged threats to her children as an excuse.

Just think about it. In a school these days if some kids were calling a Muslim teenager “terrorist” there would be hell to pay for said kids.

It does not add up. Wait until the mother is in Cairo and she needs to bribe the doctors to get medical treatment. Christchurch might not look so bad.

Anyway at least she has a mortgage free rental property in Christchurch.

  Firstly, a story appeared on Stuff briefly alleging that three of those killed were on the SIS watchlist. That story only lasted a matter of a couple of hours before being taken down.
  
  Then there was the very strange story of another worshipper greeting the visibly heavily armed Tarrant with “Welcome brother”. Why on earth would anyone say that unless firstly, seeing heavily armed men at the mosque was nothing remarkable, and/or secondly that seeing such a man was not at all alarming. Which of course begs the question “Why not?”
  
  Can anyone imagine entering a Christian church visibly heavily armed and someone not saying “What the hell are you doing here?”

Kitteridge is asked, something to the effect of, “Were the intelligence agencies monitoring that [Al Noor] mosque/the Muslim community?” Jacinda Ardern, standing nearby and no doubt frowning, immediately walked up to the lectern, hand outstretched to block and physically prevent Kitteridge answering that question, and proceeded to admonish the reporter for asking that question. The Medicines Act scores again. A Doctor is allowed to prescribe a dangerous drug to treat psoriasis and harm results. I make up a mild cosmogenic oil in use for 3,000 years and cannot advertise it.

I have had the pesky condition for many years and a couple of weeks of external application fixed it completely. The relief from itching was immediate; the inflammation took a little longer. The skin remained free of psoriasis for over a year and has been much weaker on its return. When I get irritated enough I will put some more oil on.

  It is pleasing to read of comments on here from people with Audit Office experience.
  From my limited audit experience one sees things from the inside out. And if the core is rotten we have an awful situation.
  Some years ago an Audit Office Head was nominated by the NZ Herald as New Zealander of the year. I think that with the deterioration in standards of that newspaper over the years, such an outspoken, straight up honest auditor would nowadays be pilloried by that newspaper.

  My background is in tax auditing and later as head of a Dept of State overseas. I have also held a Public Practice Certificate as a Chartered Accountant.
  
  What really bothers me is disrespect for law. MMP has allowed a species of corruption to enter the governing body. Anyone it seems with the right political credits can enter Parliament. If it was the private sector they could be being prosecuted for fraud–Most demonstrably cannot carry out the Executive Office they have offered themselves for. Their function is executive governance not smiles and talk fests. NZ is going backward.
  
  MP’s may be representatives of the people but they are much more than that. List MP’s are anomalous place holders who lack authority to do anything but cash their pay cheques.
  
  MP’s hold the keys to the Exchequer but there are historic rules granting Parliament the right to levy taxes and the spending of that money by Parliament. It is not an automatic right of Office. It is intended that the process has rigour and that taxes cannot be levied without the taxpayers consent. There have been wars over that.
  
  The recent perversion of Voting vast global sums, which have to be borrowed, removes the vital control intended. It is effectively a denial of the taxpayer’s rights to see that there is any supervision over the spending of their taxes. Why don’t they just pass an annual all-in Vote Item GOVT SPENDING $$$$. They could cut months off Parliaments sitting time?
  
  The attack by the Govt on the control of the RBNZ is another vital concern. Is a former cafe bookkeeper assistant capable of spending so wisely that he can reasonably get printed whatever money he wants? Our grandchildrens’ futures are at his whim.
  Once the Auditor was seen exercising authority.

Has anyone commenting had a positive Covid test ? And if so, could they advise if they were given any treatment while in isolation, or given any information on treatments ?

I may be wrong but my local GP says that people are just told to isolate at home and to call in if they get significant symptoms like difficulty breathing and the like. Is that general advice or are we just a little behind here ?

Surely people would be advised to take prophylactic treatments that have been shown to be effective in full blown double blind medical studies ?

    True enough, but it is peer reviewed solid science that there are treatments that, if applied early enough, will reduce by around 85% the need for hospitalisation and/or intensive care. They also reduce the severity of symptoms similarly, so less loss of taste/smell, and fewer long term issues.
    
    As such treatments are known and in the peer reviewed literature, surely to NOT implement them is criminally incompetent and should be properly investigated and changes made.
    
    Or is it still the unspeakable truth that because one Donald Trump once mentioned one of those effective treatments that all NZ’ers must be denied the benefits because otherwise that bad orange man could claim some sort of vindication ?
    
    The primary treatments which can be mixed and matched depending on the patient and the extant symptoms include supplementary Zinc, HCQ, Ivermectin, certain antibiotics that treat associated infections and also have some anti-viral side effects, plus certain anti-clotting agents shown to be useful in minimising clot formation that can become a serious and indeed a killing issue. All of these a cheap and all have known prescribing restrictions and minimal side effects when used properly.

Fewer and fewer locals pay newspaper subscriptions to be insulted by such anti-white dogma, but Jacinda the Beneficent is shelling out scores of millions of taxpayers’ dollars to keep this racism in print.

I remember when

An extremely popular Post Shop, one of the privately run version, has just been closed down.
Very good service.
Great product knowledge.
The area also lose their Kiwibank access, account payment facility, Motor Vehicle registration and Mileage Tax, etc.
Apparently the Post Box located there is also to go (busy suburban shopping site).
Only remaining Post Shop is in the middle of the city so access can be difficult.
Hard to understand why you would get rid of a service that supports itself.

  1. That sadly, there are some people who have the victim mentality that causes them to seek out offence everywhere; to blame everybody else for everything that is wrong in their world; and to accuse ordinary people like you and I who are just trying to make a living of being racist. Which leads me on to the second point;

    That sounds thoroughly unexceptional, so of course the SOS did nothing of the sort but did what guilty parties sometimes do. Implemented a signature check on a neighbouring county that there were zero complaints about.
    
    Don’t know if you have any forensic experience Batman, I’ve done some forensic audit work and one of the red flags you can look for is “diversion”. That is, if there is a problem in one area, the “suspect” will implement a close look at a related but different area where there are no problems, and use that to claim general innocence. A sort of “look, a squirrel”, rarely works in finance/IT if one has access to the problem area’s data. Can work if one has somehow to get access and the diversion persuades the gatekeeper to prevent access.
    
    Georgia’s electoral roll was full of issues, more than 6,000 people registered to one address (in NZ a mere 20 at one address prompted a successful prosecution), tens of thousands of “voters” with no valid residential address – contrary to GA state law. Plenty to look at.
    
    But face it, if the election was so clean and above board, why are so many people so fixated on preventing anyone looking at the actual votes ? If it really was that clean, honest people would welcome a review as it would vindicate them.
    
    Only thoroughly crooked and dishonest people take the line that it is all honest and above board because I say so, and it is forbidden to check and see if that is correct.

      1. The WaPo quoted “anonymous sources”, and Raffensperger was conspicuously silent in correcting the lies;
      
      2. NBC News reported that it “confirmed the Post’s characterisation of the Dec 23 call through a source familiar with the conversation” – which means either the source lied or NBC deliberately lied;
      
      3. USA Today claimed a “Georgia official speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters confirmed the details of the call” – they could not have done so honestly, so again, USA Today or their supposed sources were lying;
      
      4. ABC News also quoted “an individual familiar with the matter…” as confirming the details – more lies.
      
      5. PBS and CNN also claimed to have independently confirmed the story from their own anonymous sources.
      
      It seems clear that either there’s a mass conspiracy to lie, or everyone “confirmed” with the same people – most likely the DNC or Groups closely associated with the DNC or employed by the DNC like Fusion GPS. Propaganda 101, and following the fascist playbook closely.
      
      And this is just one of a series of stories – most of which were trumpeted by the fuckwit anti-trumpers on Kiwiblog – and all of which were absolute lies. How easy is it to fool some people ! Russian Bounties on troops (false), Suckers and losers (false), offered a quid pro quo to Zelensky of Ukraine (false), the “Fine People” hoax, and others.

I see the ghastly Ghahraman opining that “rogue nations” need to be complained about to the UN. I think that’s an excellent idea Golly, and no doubt you’ll be starting with Iran, the biggest state sponsor of terror and terrorism in the world. Seems pretty rogue to me – I’ll just nip down to the shops for some popcorn and you can climb into them. I’m guessing Syria will be next, for gassing and murdering its own citizens, then Saudi Arabia which murders journalists, and then I suppose Russia and China next.

No? You’re going all-in on Australia for exercising their sovereign right to decide who it lets into, and remain in, its own country. You should be more critical of your own government, of which you’re desperately keen to be part, for missing the memo weeks ago that the 15-year-old was being deported, and to make sure you were ready for him. Nanaia is dead-set useless, an embarrassment to her country and certainly to this Parliament. I saw an item over the weekend where she did a “walkie” for background to a story she was in. Honestly looked like a lumbering elephant and was out of breath from the effort of walking a dozen steps. Well, I say walking.

Worse, she’s clearly been told that she should smile at regular intervals but she lacks the wit to recognise that she should take care not inject too many hideous rictuses into a conversation about deporting 15 y-olds. Unspeakably ugly woman, in every respect. Makes Carmel Sepuloni look urbane and svelte.

One of the world’s experts (Dr. Geert Vander Bossche) on vaccine manufacture and use—he is very pro-vaccine—is saying that we must NOT take this vaccine because of the catastrophe we are now facing with susceptibility to future outbreaks. He is laying the credibility of his career on the line, but believes he needs to to get this message out. As you will see in the video, by taking the vaccine during an epidemic the body’s immune system is rendered incapable of defending itself due the immune function being overtaken by specific antibodies. versus our natural nonspecific antibodies. This vaccine is not designed to stop an infection, but rather is a prophylactic. He says there is a coming Covid catastrophe, because we are using the wrong weapons for this war. The body’s own natural defenses are the best weapons to battle this enemy.

  Just add to this. I have had very few vaccines. Polio of course. But as akid I lived in the sticks. Siblings and I got chicken pox, mumps, german measles, english measles – I dunno what else. But by not running to the doctor every time someone is unwell, we developed natural immunity

    The thing with vaccines is not that they are risk free, they’re most certainly not, but that the risk they pose is one or more orders of magnitude lower than the disease they address. Measles for example, the current vaccine has some adverse reactions and can indeed lead to death in rare cases – serious adverse effects are about 1:100,000 to 1:1,000,000. Measles itself has serious impacts up to and including death at around 1:1,000. Which would you prefer ?
    
    There may be some issues with the current RNA based vaccines, long term testing has not been carried out, but the actual adverse rate appears to be relatively low. But of course those who have already contracted the virus and survived should most certainly NOT be vaccinated as they should be fully immune for some time absent a very significant mutation in the virus.
    
    It is estimated that some states in the USA have antibody levels in the general population before vaccination at levels approaching 80% (Texas being a cited example) – the incidence of symptomless infection being much higher than originally thought. So that *should* reduce the need for vaccination significantly if best practice is followed.
    
    There’s little signs though that best practice IS being followed, the current establishment seem far more obsessed with political impositions than concern for the health and welfare of their citizens. As I mention in an earlier post, why is there no mandatory prophylactic treatment for COVID positive NZ’ers in isolation, managed or otherwise, why ? Do they want us sick and suppressed ?

  Lack of scale, probably older equipment plus poor productivity all contribute.
  
  Over time this will occur more and more unless there is considerable investment in modern machinery. We have factories in our area that have ceased production and now just assemble Chinese made product with the resultant effect of massive staff reduction. In one case down from 48 to 12.

  Not government related, except insofar as environmental requirements put up the cost of production. Very hard to compete with, say, an Indonesian plant where they can simply pour the highly polluting output from such a mill into the nearest river – and pay their staff < 10% of NZ wages, and pay less for high quality local hardwoods as well.
  
  The raw output from the production process is seriously polluting, and it does cost to make it possible to release without damage.
  
  Always on the cards, that major customer probably waited until one third world producer obtained a (quite probably fake) environmental “seal of approval” before switching. NZ is not a low cost producer, and we can’t compete with countries that don’t have environmentally sound policies.

But unlike SF I don’t see Prada coming up with the mechanical improvements Oracle made in that lay day, or coming up with the blistering down wind speed ETNZ is showing. Also instead of plateauing as ETNZ did in SF they are still learning and coming up with new moves as they did in the first race on Monday. Bring on 4.15 this afternoon.

Yes, but Spittle gave it away – he failed to cover-tack half way up leg 5, thus allowing TNZ to break out and gain clean air. Game over – TNZ is quicker down wind. Simple mistake in match eacing. He did the same a number of years ago – its surprising for a seasoned sailor like him , and he is very good – make no mistake.

  I think listening to the coms on the boat that Spittal thought left was good and going that way meant that he would have starboard comming in to the top marks.
  As it happened the wind flicked right which benefited ETNZ…
  So it was a tactical decision that came unstuck. In that area of the harbour the wind oscilates 10-15 degrees either side of its axis so if it had gone the otherway LR would have had the advantage.
