In a search for truth from this Government is hard to get from any Ministry let alone those that hold the Cabinet folders on them.
This Government has hidden facts on the Aluminium Smelter, the Amazon Film Deal , Covid- 19 the Testing and safty of border workers, State Housing , Housing Crisis in General , Electricity and fuel which we could go on and on with no help from a QIA system that is broken and outdated with no chance of getting
the truth in the time needed.
We need answers not lies to hold our Governments to account and the media in this country are a bloody disgrace unless there is something in it for them.

      Yep, the best scientific evidence (not “feelz”, but evidence) is that Covid-19, and for that matter SARS, are primarily carried and spread through very fine aerosols, and infection via larger droplets is a very minor occurrence. This is in fact very similar to how Measles spreads.
      
      Against such dispersal, cloth masks are at best worthless, and at worst a source of additional contamination. Again, this is known for measles, masks are ineffective.
      
      What does seem to matter is ventilation, infection outdoors is very rare (not positively implicated in any super spreading events, not ruled out in around 5%).
      
      So either we equip the frontline workers with at worst N95 style masks or better, positive pressure self contained systems, or we don’t bother.
      
      Cloth masks are theatre, nothing more than theatre; and their primary use is virtue signalling and repressive.

The Herald understands members of the Head Hunters opened fire after coming across members of the Mongols in the Sofitel, sparking an armed police callout, in an act of violence which police suspect could be retribution for the Mongols suspected of opening fire on the Head Hunters gang pad early Sunday morning.

Police Minister Poto Williams said it was also her understanding that the incident at the hotel was linked to a feud between the Mongols and the Head Hunters gangs.

The spin is that these evil 501’s are upsetting everything in New Zealand and before they arrived our lads were a bunch of nice misunderstood choirboys. Which is of course bullshit. The traditional New Zealand gangs do not like the competition in terrorising the public with their patches and turf, and have orchestrated a hate campaign against the 501 gangs. All whom right-minded New Zealanders think are just as scum as the traditional New Zealand gangs.

The reality is Poto Williams is the softest token trifecta of a Police Minister in New Zealand’s history. A joke. A woke joke of a Commissioner and no actual intent whatsoever of going after any of the real bad guys.

This is not the first gang related incident at the Viaduct.

The simple fact they are allowed to wander around the area is a disgrace, no doubt intimidating in their patches and swagger. Showing off their latest purchases that should be collected under Proceeds of Crime legislation.

Fortunately the New Zealand silent majority of nice white middle class newly minted Jacinda voters will have conniptions if this continues. More than any other issue. New Zealanders do not like feeling unsafe. Stray bullets from gangland warfare is what the Yanks do, not the Team of 5 million.

The optics are awful for middle New Zealand.

Guns taken off law abiding New Zealanders but a Polynesian Police Minister, a large Maori representation in Cabinet, and ethnic gangs allowed to run amok into nice areas where nice New Zealanders hang out doing nice things and eating and drinking nicely. That is not what Labour supporters voted for. They voted for the thugs to stay where they should – in their state housing ghettos, committing crime against one and another.

As I have previously blogged back in December:

Maybe Poto can saddle up and visit all those nice, kind gangs and ask them to hand in their guns as the government did to law abiding New Zealanders when one lone random Australian came over to New Zealand and shot up a mosque?

No mention of gangs here though.

New Zealand’s first Polynesian Police Minister is going to have to face up very quickly to middle-class wrath from the masses if northern parts of Auckland and Queenstown become stomping grounds for gangsters to openly socialise at and bring with them their BFG’s, blunts, bitches, baby Mamma’s and beans.

Sounds like she is achieving nothing to date other than increasing the odds of a bit of Pb landing in your next latte or chardonnay.

Forget about Venezuela, Ardern and Little are
trying to turn us into the Haiti of the Sth Pacific and the cretinous Greens want us to stop calling them “Gangs” and call them Community groups…JFC ?

  Made me wonder whether Sofitel had been taken over for managed isolation, but no, they are taking bookings (>$400 per night).
  Either hotel rooms are scarce as hens teeth so gangs have to stay there or gangs are so flushed with money that they might as well spend up on luxury accommodation before the cops bust them and take their money, Harley Davidsons, etc. Not sure if the rooms are suitable for P labs, motels and serviced apartments would be better.
  So my image that Sofitels are high class five star hotels which I would be uncomfortable staying at is shattered (I generally use two star hotels the odd times I need one).

The flying public are obviously getting sick of the mask (aka compliance muzzle) requirement. AirNZ mask script has been beefed up ridiculously cover every angle of compliance. It sounds like a laboriously constructed legal clause.

AirNZ, I challenge you thus: If you truly believe masks are essential for safety, and you’re committed to safety – right? … then announce that you’re ceasing all drink/snack service so that mask can remain on throughout the flight. Show us your resolve, or campaign against this pathetically pointless requirement. I expect you’ll demonstrate weakness by doing neither.

  The airlines are just like the health gurus and leaders, there is no scientific basis on many of these decisions.
  They cherry pick the rules but they ignore the science.
  You can sit for half or most of the flight sipping there seriously bad expensive coffee.
  I wonder if they can ban you for drinking coffee slowly, or maybe fine you.
  the US now have 2 year olds wearing masks, its a race to see who can outdo the others crazy laws.

  You are absolutely right. Tell me this. Why is it so imperative that we put masks on before we enter the airbridge when we have all been standing cheek by jowl in a long line to enter the airbridge, when we have been sitting closely in the lounge, and when we need to take the mask off to drink or eat what the Air NZ flight crew dish up during the flight?
  
  Further, if I am not eating or drinking and sitting between two who are and I remove my mask, why am I threatened with prosecution for not wearing my mask.
  
  I wrote to Air NZ to point out the incongruity of their position. That was in January. I am yet to receive a reply.

  There’s a lot I’d agree with in that article.
  However.
  With regards to the worker ‘not bothering to comply with testing requirements’, I don’t agree.
  He says the system is at fault. Surely the worker must take some responsibility to ensure he complies with what is a requirement of the job and his superior should be checking to ensure he is complying?
  Maybe if money was withheld from the security company every time they failed to meet their obligations it might concentrate their minds.
  I worked for a company that was penalized financially if it made a cock up resulting in a cost to the customer. Everything was double checked to avoid this happening.

It is ridiculous krazykiwi, you sit amongst your fellow passengers in the concourse without masks, no distancing at all, but suddenly you need a mask to board the plane? During the 45 min flight from ChCh to Wgtn you are first served water, mask off, then tea, coffee and snack, mask off again and finally a lolly, mask up but not off completely. If you took your time over each you may only wear your mask for 10 mins of the flight. You couldn’t make this shit up.

I worked very hard for 50 years to give my family the support that they received- gratefully I am told regularly.
Today’s Herald tells that I must consider the wellbeing of all the others – it appears that these experts on life are young well educated middle class women who would not be in their pontificating best without what we oldies achieved of hard work – life balance was not available – hard work with tiring long hours sometimes for little reward – not as expected now.
I can only wish them well for as they get older they will actually find that whilst they can survive in Remmers with their cross cars many New Zealanders appears to be sliding rapidly into actual poverty.
I hope their work life balances succeed – pity they never studied History at University.

Now here is a state really pushing the science.
Yesterday,In Hospital covid positive from hotel Quarantine Australia wide are 49.
Queensland has 42 of these, so rest of Australia with 144 positive cases have 7 in hospital.
NSW has 61 cases with 1 in Hospital, Queensland 43, 42 in hospital
This is just insane. Healthy positives put in hospitals to infect staff. It is a world first I believe.
Why don’t you put all positive cases of Shingles in hospitals?
These are the same control freaks that designated declared hotspots of areas that had never had a case.
I asked if -1 cases was scientifically possible? Crickets! months ago,waiting for an answer.
Isn’t it exciting, 2 more sleeps and NZ can play the Australian china flu roulette game of travel.
One thing you can be guaranteed, it will constantly change and you will be the one out of pocket.
If you are going to travel, NSW is by far the safest destination control wise.

Log Supply ‘not the cause of timber shortage.’
Forest Owners Assn president, Phil Taylor, pointed to the two biggest wood processors in NZ both publicly stating the shortage was mostly caused by a covid emergence building boom.
CHH issued a statement saying the shortage was short term and industry wide.
A huge timber appetite as well as CHH’s difficulties with upgrading capacity at its Kawerau mill.
Red Stag CE, Marty Verry, says there is a worldwide building boom and NZ is no exception.
Phil Taylor said the volume of the NZ timber market has been remarkably stable for the last two decades.
Claims the problem is log exports to China goes back to Shane Jones’ Log Mongers Bill last year. An attempt to cross subsidise local production with exports.
The logs supplied to China are generally not suitable to meet the house construction grades here in New Zealand.
There is not that much overlap.

I think the system will scale up satisfactorily as there is a great deal of good intentions from those tasked with delivery despite poor communication and organisation from Wellington

The time has come for a politician with a pulse and a spine to suggest it. It has been this way for a while, but it needs to be said and debated openly now.

Our dealing with gangs needs to change. They have changed, so must the rest of society.

1. Make a register of known criminal gangs. This is not hard. Base it on proven court cases.
2. Find an island. One at least 10N miles from anywhere. Build barracks on it. No cell or wifi.
3. Put gang members convicted past x date on that island. Ignore the usual suspect cries of “inhumane”. It is not inhumane. These guys are feral and nasty and must be stopped from ruining our society with drugs and converting other prisoners to their evil schemes. Daily heli drop of food and let them fight over it.
4. Let the navy target practice on the inevitable attempts at escape.

I bet you it’s less expensive and works.

With lockdowns delaying the justice system I am advised that “today” applications to family court will take 18-24 months to get to a hearing!!!!!

  Apart from probably separated and hostile parents there can be issues of custody, access, visits, schooling, the kids basic welfare and anxiety and the rest…
  
  Can this govt never do anything right? Special temporary Courts or whatever is needed should be put in place immediately. Good senior lawyers could do the job if allowed. The matters are often minor and an independent 3rd party can break barriers and allow decisions and action.
  
  This Govt fails in any sense of Justice, now the administration is falling apart too. Cindy reigns from her fireplace and the Bill of Rights and other law is irrelevant.
