Just landed in Wellington on the 7:30am, wearing my suit, on way to the protest.

Looking for a different perspective, live on 1st of March, 2022, Freedom day!

For an ulfiltered response from protesters, I’ll initially walk the perimeter whilst wearing a mask. Will there be ferals? Will I be spat on? Beaten up? Verbally abused?

We shall see!

Then I’ll wander around and get some updated footage of everything.
Will the Freedom day convoy be blocked from entry? Will there be more infrastructure from last time?

Your guess is as good as mine.

I was hoping to gain entry to Parliament to watch today’s session from the public gallery. Will there be parliament at all? Will they let me in? Will any MPs speak to me? (I’m known to more than a few)

I doubt it. Bet they have moved everything to video.

Off to client meetings in the afternoon then may change into casual for second part of day and head back to the protest. How big will it be? Will the convoys have joined them? Will the police be chilled out or back to belligerent?

  They won’t be happy that their shower block has gone, nor will the bloke who lent it to them. The Stuff story fails to mention that the police broke all the glass and basically smashed the shower block, and it was only the trailer that got carted away on a forklift.

      Plod’s remit here is to make life as tough as possible for the non-complying without stirring up the punters, they need to provoke protesters to violence which will give them room to act while keeping videos of dragging naked young woman by the hair to a minimum.

      I have had a long standing mistrust of the police. Some are great but remember the “we had acid thrown at us” statement that ended up proven to be a lie as it was friendly fire from pepper spray.
      
      I agree that our police are better that a lot of other countries but are by no way perfect.

        What Riot Police? We had a few coppers running around the other week with Riot Shields but they were more used to giving out cuddles.

      I hope that they will be charged for their vandalism and the owner recompensed by them for destroying his property. Not really holding my breath waiting for that because the way that they are acting seems to me to show that they think that they are above the law. My faith in the Police is diminishing more as each day goes by and actions such as this are committed by them. It is basically thuggish behaviour IMHO. They seem to have forgotten that they are our servants not our masters.

Her government has had its day, shot its bolt run its course. It’s finished. It’s incompetence now being laid bare for all but the wilfully blind to see. There will be nothing but bad news for them from here on in. The Covid cover story is over and the new star on stage is a developing foreign policy crisis that she and her foreign minister don’t understand let alone know how to navigate without damaging our relationship irreparably with our traditional allies or jeopardising our trade .       They only do soft targets, like ten of them coming round to where the food is prepared on a daily basis and “protecting” the traffic crew ticketing anything and everything they could. Whether it was impeding anything or not.
      Completely pathetic, like most of the police actions around the protest. Pathetic, demeaning for the police. There are a majority of people there who are decent NZers. When this is over their contempt for the government and police will last generations. That is very sad.

    The Portaloos would have been more of a health hazard than the toilets. From the photos of the toilets I cannot see any particular health hazard. They are ordinary flush toilets and there is a water connection. They lifted a sewer manhole and replaced it with a sheet of plywood with a hole cut in it for the pipe. So the output of the toilets goes straight into the sewer which is the usual arrangement. The odds are a plumber/drainlayer would have been involved but he would have laid low to avoid risk to losing his ticket. Would not be industry ‘best practice’ for a permanent job but I cannot see any likely health issues with the current setup. Seems the protesters were planning to build a second toilet block until the Police took plywood and pipes off the protesters.
    The Labour Regional Council chair is demanding a ‘please explain’ from the Police about the toilets. His priorities are quite screwed. More to the point why was he not demanding a ‘please explain’ from the Police as to why the bus interchange was allowed to be over-run. This has caused far more trouble and inconvenience than a few toilets.

    Destruction of property like this had nothing to do with upholding the law. This does the police no good at all, in fact if undermines a lot of goodwill towards them. There really are some turkeys involved in all of this!
    Wanton vandalism is unacceptable and the Police must be given an invoice to fix it. Perhaps dock it from the officers involved?

    What a pack of pricks the police are.
    The prefab shower block was built by a friend of mine by his workforce in Rangiora. He then carted it up to Picton and took it across on the ferry.
    Yesterday we set it up and it had going just nicely. As it had solar heating, a lot of people had a nice hot shower. Many people were shaking my friends hand in appreciation. I could see the passing police were less than happy.
    So in a fit of pique they knock it down and take it away. What harm was it doing there? Isn’t it to the good that it improved sanitation.
    I know one thing it will only harden the protestors resolve. I hope they stay there until Ardern and her motley lot are thrown out.

  NZ is rapidly heading down a path that is going to lead to blood on the streets, literally. It has the potential to make the streets of Chicago look like a Sunday School picnic. We are turning people against one another. Suspicion leads to dislike, dislike to hatred, hatred to ugly action.

    Barry’s article was great but he did focus on Chris Luxon. I am noticing many comments on various sites attacking Luxon/Seymour about He Puapua and telling people not to trust them. The insinuation seems to be that it is safer to stick with Jacinda because National/ACT are Labour Lite. I become suspicious that some people are really Labour activists working an agenda.

      John Key suffered the same sort of ‘lite’ attacks prior to 2008. All-out attacks would not achieve their object, but the ‘lite’ attacks were intended to cast doubt on John in the eyes of the ‘undecided’ and marginal supporters.
      Chris Luxon is being similarly attacked.
      Chris is no fool – has had experience right through from marketing OMO to filling airline seats. Pushing an anti He Puapua line at this stage would invite criticism and derision from many quarters, far better to focus on things that are politically advantageous.

America is so badly divided. America will not unite to take on Russia / China.

Russia / China vs the West. It will not even be close. NZ will be a Chinese vassal state within 10 years.

Now I’m not a lawyer, maybe some of our legal minds can help out.

1. I thought that the trespass act applied to private property not public property.
2. To Trespass need the authorisation of the legal owner or occupier.Who is that.
3. The order is invalid if the person tresspassed is invited back.
4. Use of force is the absolute minimum.

Then there is the childish nonsense.

The only people interfering with the publics access to the park is the councils own, I suspect illegal, road blocks.

What next, turn on the sprinklers and lock down the public toilets.

He said they are breaking a council bylaw banning camping, what about all the other homeless people camping on Auckland council parks etc? One law for all please.

What about the homeless plague on our main street and outside aucklands cities public library, is he going to block queen street issue trespass notices and pressure the police to move them on?

Now it is at least 40 people so once again they can’t count, you will need about 80 plus police to arrest them, next day there will be 400 camping there, they will come in by the bus load.

Then you get the, they have the right to protest but not against me. I remember the occupy movement camping out in aotea square for an extended period of time, so you have the “absolute” right to protest as long as we approve.

But it’s getting harder and harder to deny the non-catastrophic reality of global warming given length of satellite era global temperature data sets that can’t be tortured into producing desired huge warming trends, and the continual failure of not-fit-for-purpose climate models that can not model the critically important and highly non-linear interactions between radiation physics, water phase changes and convection (ie clouds, rain, evaporation, condensation, ocean upwelling, etc). supercomputers would need to be trillions of times faster to even attempt to get that right.

    Satellite temperature data sets are hugely reliant on manipulation because they don’t measure temperature they measure something else that infers temperature and they slow down and loose height so they have to adjust the data to take this into account.
    
    I’m also can’t remember how well satellite’s measure lower atmosphere temperature to higher atmosphere temperature, having more greenhouse gases traps heat in the lower atmosphere – less heat is radiated into the upper atmosphere so the upper atmosphere can cool while the lower warms up – which is happening.

      Most land measurements are taken from old fashioned Stevenson Screens
      There is a large margin of error incurred in just taking the reading- between.5-2 Degrees
      So it’s just farcical when they talk bout the hottest year- by .0125 Degrees!
      The US are progressively installing more accurate digital ones.
      Anyway the science is clear that warming continues to be modest and gradual.

Look at the Gisp2 icecores and there is nothing anomalous about current warming (and modern warming period is suspiciously timed in 1050 year sequence of Minoan, Roman, Medieval and now Modern warming periods – there is no explanation for that, we are just supposed to pretend its not part of the sequence. There was 3.5 degrees of warming in about 400 years in that data set 8200 years ago close to the Holocene climate optimum. Large swings are a common feature of interglacials. We also know there have been large global rises and falls in sea level during the current Holocene interglacial at rates often greater than current rate of rise (therefore faster heating and cooling was happening). See fig 6:

        I can sort of understand why National and ACT keep quiet on this. If they were to mention this, it’s just so bloody easy for the MSM to scream ‘racist’ at the top of their lungs. I was not a fan of Collins but she was pretty much hung, drawn and quartered over rather timid objections to the trend to maori co-governance. This is a not a vote winner for National or ACT – best to keep the powder dry, be noncommittal and just unwind crap when they get in. Why give the MSM a stick to beat you with when you can just keep quiet, and hopefully unwind this crap later? Obviously there are concerns on the right that National just continue the managed decline, but to make change, you need power and dying in a ditch over the increasing use of Maori is not going to win an election. Remember – the battle is not for the folks on this blog – most of those on here are firmly right of centre or centre and will most likely hold their nose and vote for National or ACT. The real challenge is to convince those voters that gave Labour power – and that isn’t going to happen by giving the MSM free hits!

  There are probably several Human Rights that are breached if there is any compulsion to participate in karakia, if it is not your choice, not to mention the separation there should be between religion and state, as well as simple courtesy versus personal coertion.
  But these all unfortunately will amount to confrontation probably, which is also your choice.
  
  You may also risk your personal interests by messaging the organisers in advance, asking them what reasonable arrangement have they made for those, who do not believe in Maori religious acknowledgement, to not be coerced into doing so, and how in terms of teamwork, will they accomodate your need to not participate. This could also make you a marked man – not one of the whanau …

  My wife works in the public sector, bless her soul. Her team do this and occasionally I overhear them mumbling through it and have to suppress laughter so that I don’t embarrass her. I’m not sure how this helps their work. I would never work for a government department. The wokeness is bad enough in the corporate world!

      I did an estimate for a friend of mine at Kainga Ora – must have been well over a year ago, maybe year and a half. Apartments, good location in Christchurch. Massively expensive design – as all social housing seems to be these days – but they literally could have been complete by now or very close to complete. Drove past the site the other day – still an empty lot with grass being cut. Asked my friend what was happening – well it’s still going through consultation and design reviews – and she then listed the number of people attached internally from KO! Most of her projects are in the same place – almost ready to lodge for consent and start building but subject to never-ending reviews and consultation. This is why nothing seems to get built and their housing numbers are pathetic – gold plated designs that are massively expensive, that then go through endless rounds of consultation and reviews, and all the while, the cost of building increases, and the waiting lists grow – but hey, I’m sure they are f-ing awesome at the Karakia though, so that’s a big win I reckon!

I had heard quite a lot of talk lately the about this book

The book is 25 years old now but it predicts much of what is going on right now, it makes it all seems to fall in place. It really is a mind-blower.
Basically, what we are seeing is a crisis which is the actions and reactions to the ideas put in place by the hippie/boomer generation, which are referred to as ‘the Awakening’. There are plenty of videos on Youtube about it but the book needs to be read to give it justice.
The way I see, how it relates to New Zealand is that all the policies that we are following are really just an extension of the tired old boomer ideas from the 60s that have been pushed to the extreme, despite Ardern being late Gen X.
I’d be interested to know if anyone else has read the book already or plans to.

29 weeks of lockdown today for unvaxxed Aucklanders , who went into alert level 3 lockdown on August 17, and never became free as it was followed by the traffic light aphartheid system.

With rules more severe than a criminal on Home D , this is a probation that has no end date. In fact the government has suggested she may remove “some” of the restrictions after the omicron peak which leaves us wondering if some will stay indefinitely.

Like Britney Spears under conservatorship , the unvxd are at the will of the government unable to decide when to get a haircut or basic hygiene and grooming services.

While New Lynn Supermarket Terrorist was able to travel to Samoa for a holiday while on a government terror list, the unvxd are on a list even more punitive .

  If civilian vehicles are approaching Russian carriers, and throwing molotov cocktails from the moving car (like on the link)- this might make sense of the video of another Russian military vehicle driving atop a civilian car which was going to pass along it at speed.

The high court summary:

There was an issue with the Order. The order signed off was to do with preventing an outbreak. The judge said there was an error and that was not the purpose of the polices mandates, instead it was to provide workplace continuity, but it appears he also commented about the original purpose as given below which is the same purpose as for mandates more generally.

[13] As promulgated cl 3 of the Order provided:
3 Purpose The purpose of this Order is to prevent, and limit the risk of, the outbreak or spread of COVID-19 by requiring specified work to be carried out only by affected workers who are vaccinated where it is in the public interest to do so.”

“The Minister’s rationale for the Order, and his assessment of the demonstrated justification for the limit on fundamental rights, did not support
an order having the purpose described in the original cl 3. For example, there is no
direct evidence of advice from the Director-General, or any other person on the
relevant health science issues. Indeed the contemporaneous documents record that the Minister had received advice that further vaccine mandates were not needed for health reasons. This gives rise to a significant issue as to whether the measure could then be demonstrably justified on health grounds associated with the spread of the virus. ”

This seems very clear. It is not justified to stop spread. How can the opposition not call for immediate retraction of all unjustified mandates. How can they be allowing another mandate of miq for travellers only when there is no evidence to support the order that it prevents outbreaks or stops spread. It seems to me that continuation by the government and opposition of these mandates is illegal and the judge seems to have made it clear.

Want to know how NZ’s Treasury and the Reserve Bank are going with their Social Credit money juggling?

The fine web site, interest.co.nz, has ace reporter Jenee Tibishraeny interviewing the deputy governor of the Reserve Bank, and interest.co makes it viewable to all at the web address below.

I found it especially interesting from about 16 minutes when Tibishraeny talks of potential contradictions with the Reserve Bank apparently requiring issue of more debt while Treasury presumably wants to keep debt low.

It’s all magic. What happens when the world audience of the magic show sees the lady hasn’t really been sawn in half?

Well done Jenee Tibishraeny. No-one else is telling this story.

BUT, I am getting the impression that Damien O’Connor is the stand out in that Cabinet. I think what he has done in England is real good.
I can imagine that he finds Cabinet meetings tiresome, being surrounded by numpties.

    Just started doing some research on the newly announced approval of the Novavax Covid19 vaccine. Last December Novavax claimed about 90% efficacy against the Omicron variant but only after the third jab?
    
    Anyone else researched this in more depth?
    
    I’m keen to get the Novavax jab but Omicron will likely not be a serious issue after the 4, 5 or more months it will take to get three jabs.

Steve Jobs and Gates’s contribution have been well documented, but the death of an American engineer brings a little notice to one of the great innovation centres.

David Boggs, an electrical engineer who has died at 71, with Bob Metcalfe, developed the ethernet which links computers, printers, servers in hundreds of millions of homes and office.

They were at Xerox’s PARC research laboratory in California’s Silicon Valley.

Other inventions from PARC included the mouse, the graphical user interface, the word processor and the laser printer.

The New York Times describes ethernet:

Sending tiny packets of information between computers and other devices, including printers, Ethernet could potentially work both with wires and without. In the 1980s, it became the standard protocol for wireline PC networks. In the late ’90s, it served as the basis for Wi-Fi, which would pervade homes and offices over the next two decades.

However it was used, the power of Ethernet was that it assumed things would go wrong. Even if some packets were lost — as they inevitably would be — the network could keep going.

Metcalfe founded 3Com, while Boggs stayed at PARC, though later he founded an ethernet company, LAN Media, eventually sold to a larger player, SBE.

‘There must have been a sense that all wasn’t well.’
Rangitikei Mayor Andy Watson has apologised to former patients of the Lake Alice psychiatric hospital near Marton at a blessing attended by about 40 people.
A huge number of people were employed out at Lake Alice.
I think that it was a different time and few had any idea about mental patient treatment.
In reality, the best doctors, nurses and staff must have done a quite extraordinary job.

It was stated that he was tested on Sunday, but had been working from home so no parliamentary contacts.

Courier companies in Auckland down to 50% capacity due to worker infections and stand down requirements. Only “critical” items can be shipped in and out of Auckland for foreseeable future. Why is this not reported? Let me guess…all for what most experience as a mild cold. Remember “two shots for freedom”? Fortress NZ alive and well.

  Countdown is also in disarray. Last night they called and said they could not deliver my weekly order or for anyone else in Russell. There were no available delivery slots for the scheduled week ahead. Would I like to cancel or they could leave it in Paihia. I opted for the latter and when picked it up about a third of the order had been substituted as the usual lines had bcome unavailable since I ordered just the night before.

Can someone please explain how this works.
The number of cases reported each day have usually been those found from the tests 9am the day before to 9am the day the number is given.
Below are the health sector figures for the last two days –

today
19,566 community cases
number of PCR tests total (last 24 hours): 16,314

yesterday
14,633 community cases
number of PCR tests total (last 24 hours): 22,742

How do they today get more covid cases than tests taken?

  Last year they changed the test day to end at 11:59pm the previous day. Many of the tests done now are the RATs so not included in the PCR numbers. Plus PCR test results can take days to be returned. Also where are they counting the 9000 tests that went to Queensland?

    THe percentages are also overstated because we don’t know whether the 0.1% are in hospital because of, rather than simply with, Covid.
    
    Ditto the 0.04% in ICU.
    
    Just like that unfortunate soul the other day who had covid, but died from an unrelated medical condition, and is counted as a covid death regardless.
    
    The lesson here: the numbers mean nothing.

  about 1 in 50000 kiwis die per day, so from 100000 currently infected there should have been about 2 dead on a normal day. But there were none. In Australia it is estimated that (an NZ equivalent of) about 600 will die with Omicron as their Omicron wave tails off. That is about as many as will die in NZ in a normal week – which is about how long you have the virus for when infected (which almost all of us will be in next 2 months). From that we can conclude that this virus appears to add basically nil risk of death to a near fully vaxxed population like NZ.
  
  We should clearly end all mitigation measures immediately.

I felt for Ashley at 1:00. Having to front up on his own, to pass on the bad news that PCR testing capabilities had been over estimated. Where was a government minister/PM ? Ashley has been left isolated as a sacrificial token. Wonder what his personal thoughts of in how he has been left to solely handle today.

Just for those of you who every thought that Ivermectin as a early treatment for Covid was just some conspiracy theory – the Japanese have been researching it and they reckon it works. Although this is something I already knew as thousands of doctors around the world have been using with great success. But it’s nice to see it finally mentioned in the mainsteam media in a positive way. The weird thing is the trial at Oxford (mentioned also) was running way back in June, and is still ongoing. You’d think they’d have some results to show by now……

Had to go to an actual bank yesterday and did not bother to “scan in”….what’s the point if there’s no contact tracing? (And what was the point when there was contact tracing).
The person at the counter wasn’t having that! Oh yes you must scan in and pushed a QR squiggle at me. No choice really so I did it in order to complete what I’d gone in for. Why do we still have to do it?? I’ve hardly done it for months but looks like there is still a bit of insistence going on.

  Viruses mutate. Not catching this strain does not mean you can’t catch the next strain. So it would be another fortnight, then another, then another.
  
  Given those who want it have now had the prophylactic injections, it is now summer, people are rested after their annual holidays and the current strain is generally mild in its effects, it would actually seem more sensible to take our masks off, get the virus while we have maximum protection from it and get the boost it apparently gives your immune system – before another, possibly more severe strain appears.

When will Luxon grow some balls? Every time Ardern has him defending and denying support for the protesters he is losing. He looks guilty to those against the protesters and he looks gutless to everyone else.

Rather than denigrate the protesters, can’t he just ask Arden where the people who have lost their jobs, been discriminated against, can get access to her to discuss their concerns. The people locked out of the country or the kids who still can’t play sports despite Ardern saying this wasn’t the intention of the red light system – ie how many days until she will fix it so kiwis can come into the country and kids play sports – because this is the stuff we are sick of. Or like the police and defence forces do they have to take it to the courts to get heard? This is what the teachers are having to do this week.

Surely to be an effective leader of the opposition he has to be capable of making her accountable. Not the other way around!
