Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade under spotlight after Sexual Assault case.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is undergoing a independent review into how it dealt with a case where a Senior MFAT employee assaulted a junior staffer.
The review is being carried out by Steph
Dyersburg was instigated after a survivor complained about how she was treated throughout the process.

Can someone please explain please why this wasn’t handled by the Police, because we have been through this all before under Labour if you remember the sexual assault out of the Prime Minister’s Office of Jacinda Ardern and the Senior Staffer that was accused of that, so why hasn’t the Government and Labour learnt anything from that.

    You assume Batman they I don’t know anyone that has been in the same situation and it is always hard for the victims to report sexual assault, but the only way to get justice is to leave it to a Police investigation. While I can not guarantee that it never went as far as the Police Labour have a habit of sweeping serious sexual assaults under the carpet and leaving the victims to be hung out to dry.

      I assume based on you asking the question. If you did know someone then you would know very well why she may not want it to go to the Police. And let’s be realistic, she may well just not want to bother given it was a groping assault and not a more serious offence. He has lost his career at the ‘up or out’ MFAT which is a punishment in that weird foreign affairs circle.
      
      I don’t think you can link Labour to this, as much as it seems a convenient political hit. This kind of thing will be separated from the Beehive and quite some distance away from the Labour party itself. Aside from anything else, the Minister will want minimum contact with it other than to ensure the Ministry is conducting an appropriate investigation so she can’t be dragged into it.

Italy, that model bio-fascist state has announced that it is ditching vaxx passports. When these were introduced in September they had roughly 4,000 infections a day. When they tightened restrictions in December, they had under 15,000. Italy now has 70,000 a day.

Make no mistake, when Ardern, with a flush of faux-magnanimity announces the end of vaxx mandates and passports she will claim success of vaccinations and and following the science as her reasoning.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The vaxx has clearly failed as evidenced in every country with high vaxx rates.

No, Ardern is a tyrant that has lost the self-declared right to rule through fear, and she knows it.

        The UK did have an excellent vaccine rollout. But it did move to a policy of accepting a lot of deaths (late-2021) and lockdowns with too many complexities and holes in them, which lead to more and more cases and deaths.

      Bio-fascist sums it up pretty well. It’s behind most European countries to remove the green pass.
      In Italy unvacc’d are barred from going into shops or businesses, only allowed in supermarkets or pharmacy’s, over 50’s must be jabbed. As an aside Italy’s Govt also last week cut excise on petrol by 25c per litre. Coincidence?

  South Africa, 3% Vax rate and they were over it in 8 weeks. The rates weren’t much higher in India and they have eliminated it in most of the country. We are not allowed to talk about it in the western world but if you read Indias msm you will soon learn how it was done for under $3 per person. They openly celebrate this achievement.
  Here’s a debate I’d love to start; I’m unvaxxed and got covid with my two unvaxxed kids aged 4 and 5. We all had a runny nose and felt a little tired otherwise nothing, we could of carried on with life as normal and you wouldn’t of known we were infected. I also smoke 30 tailor made cigarettes a day and didn’t slow down while I had covid. I am also reading alot of stories similar to mine. I also know 14 unvaxxed people 8 of whom have had covid and their experience was the same as mine. I also know 15 people who were vaxxed and got covid and their symptoms were way worse than mine and my unvaxxed friends symptoms with 3 needing to go to hospital. From my point of view the vaxxed are getting way sicker than the unvaxxed. Maybe its just coincidental and we got lucky but if we were in a trial group the results speak for themselves. The press can write what they like but I am convinced I made the right choice.

    There will be no studies done that could possibly show Ardern to be wrong about anything. The good news is many more people are seeing through her complete transparency.
    The stats are rattling in around the world, vaccination status not only doesn’t make a shred of difference, it’s looking like making things worse. And we haven’t even started to see the long term implications yet. I really hope they don’t happen as many experts have predicted. I wouldn’t wish bad things on anyone. But we have a very interesting year ahead of us.

      YES – it was Ivermectin – dished out freely by the government.
      I haven’t had to use my Ivermectin yet – please someone, give me the Rona so I can gain the immuntiy. (But maybe I’ve had it 😉 )

        Exactly Don. When it was happening the western press were saying it’s horse de wormer and ridiculing the idea. At the same time the Indian press were raving on and on about how great it is with the governor of Uttar Pradesh province in the news, beaming away, declaring it was officially over after handing out bags of it, with vitamins, for less than $3 each and openly laughing about us silly white people paying Pfizer untold amounts. They made no secret of it and all one had to do was read any Indian press.
        The press in NZ go on about the rabbit hole of disinformation, one which I believe they have all pushed us down. Meanwhile the rest of the world shakes their head while muttering “stupid fucking white people” because ultimately we’re the only ones to have used mRNA vaccines. China doesn’t use them and neither do over 70 other countries, their sitting back and waiting for the time to ask us “how did that work out for you?”.

    When the Omicron variant arrived in SA it was described as mild. The majority of people experiencing these mild cases were unvaxxed.
    
    Fast forward to when my family and I got covid. I am told our cases were mild because I was triple vaxed.
    
    I would be keen to see a study of the experience that unvaccinated New Zealanders have had with the variant Omicron. Is it possible that the vaccinations did not do as much for me as I was told because the vax was not that effective and that Omicron is mild anyway?
    
    I am seeing stories of young men who had severe heart health reactions from the vaccination (reactions that was confirmed by their GPs/doctors) but that the MOH refused to provide an exemption forcing them to have it in order to continue accessing services.
    
    While I am not an antivaxxer I am wondering whether the government placed their own desire to have a world leading fully vaccinated country over any concerns about health of NZers affected by the vaccine.
    
    Did the Government view studies on the likelihood of young men under 39 years dying of covid? Is it possible that these young men didn’t need the vaccination in the first place but have been caught up in our naive Government’s desire for full vaccination?
    
    I agree that the over 65’s and those who are vulnerable would have benefited from vaccination given the high death rates in those groups.
    
    I am starting the think that post covid and post Labour Government we will get ‘tell all’s coming out from public service workers and OIAs who will report that the Government ignored warnings, ignored human rights and went to extreme lengths with keeping health facts under cover to push the need for 100% vaccination for the entire NZ population.

    And yet doctors will tell you that maybe Omi is mild because of the vaccines, but South Africa and India with their low vax rates had milder cases, less deaths etc with Omi so it clearly had nothing to do with the vaccines. Then people say, it’s because of their young age demographics – but I have been to poor parts of South Africa, and it is like the third world so your average 30 year old is health-wise, like your average 50 year old in NZ. So even though many are younger in SA, due to poverty many bodies are much older, not to mention the high HIV prevalence lowering peoples immunity. So that argument is nonsense too. There are two things happening with these vaccines – they have lowered peoples innate immunity which means in the “flu” phase 1 the vaxxed often get it worse. However, what the vaccines do is create a level of “tolerance” of the spike protein (they only cause antibodies to be produced for the spike protein, not the whole virus itself). What this “tolerance” for the spike protein does is means if you do progress to phase 2 (inflammation) or 3 (hyperinflammation) you are less likely to get over it and not die or get as sick. Or it may be that they protect you from getting to Phase 2 (which often means a hospitalisation). The NZ data shows about 5 in 100k unvaxxed people are going to hospital so that’s probably the risk of getting to Phase 2 or 3. Interstingly though double vaxxed are going to hospital at a rate of 3.8 per 100k, boosted at 1.7 per 100k, so it’s clear that the protection even for hospitalisation wears off, or doesn’t even protect old people. If you look at the datasheet in Medsafe, they only tested the booster on ages 18 to 55 years so who knows if they even do anything over that age – Pfizer has no proof. Also, for the booster they never compared numbers of cases in placebo to trial group to calculate efficacy, they looked at antibody levels (only 200 people in each group!!). And remember the antibodies would only ever be to the original Wuhan strain not the Omi as that’s all they were designed for. So it’s a complete nonsense that we even approved the 3rd dose – it’s not science, it’s cross your fingers and say a Hail Mary territory. I knew that these vaccines wouldn’t stop transmission last July when I looked at the overseas data for highly vaxxed nations and especially the Uk data which always showed the vaxxed were more likely to get covid than unvaxxed, Also, a close read of the datasheets in Medsafe shows they based their 95% efficacy on 8 cases out of 22,000 trial group and 162 cases out of 22000k placebo at 3 months (and there were 1 versus 2 deaths from covid in each group!). The 12-15 year data is even more ridiculous – 0 cases versus 16 cases out of 1000 in each group gave them 100% efficacy, yeah right……..We are still waiting here in South Auckland to get covid. There are 3 of us working and 3 of us studying. My kids have had covid ripping through their schools and still nothing. Hoping we will just get a cold like you did.

      Correction: Actually 5 in 100k unvaxxed hospitalisations is probably the absolute risk of catching and then getting to Phase 2 or 3 – we don’t know what the risk is once you catch it as we don’t know how often people are reporting their positive result. So the risk of getting to hospital would be higher than 5 per 100k once you catch covid.

  That is of course the delicious irony that the world is easing restrictions when in reality the reasons they imposed them in the first place haven’t changed or half got materially worse.
  
  Of course the virus has got materially less threatening but the reasons for the restrictions were for the spread of the virus therefore they have been an utter failure.
  
  Italy will be like everywhere else – polling will suggest this is now a political liability. Watching the mental gymnastics from the elite (political, corporate and bureaucratic) on this walk back is amusing as they realize (on this round at least) Peterson’s maximum threshold has been hit.
  
  We have to silently (for fear of elite retribution) cheer for those in NZ who stood up for democratic rights as well as right across the world.
  
  If it wasn’t for trailblazers in the GOP like Rand Paul and Ron Desantis who refused to be cowered and bullied into accepting the ridiculous mandates and rules we would still be in a world of paranoia. Oh to have conviction-based political leaders of that makeup in New Zimbabwe.

    I had to laugh at an email from our school recently. It was an update on covid cases. In the space of about 4 days it went from “we have a small number of tamariki away” to “we have numerous cases across the school”. The principal said “we will continue with the preventative and effective measures that are serving us so well such as mask wearing and staggered drop off and pick up times”. I thought, if it’s so bloody effective, why is half the school away?!

    I never had a fever, I had a scratchy throat, that was it, keeled going to work, keeper going to the pub, never knew I had it till we tested at work, a very faint line, medical person said I would have had it and I will now not be infectious, no one from work caught it, or none of my mates at the pub caught it, strange for some Thai infectious.

    The research is only just getting under way – there will be a lot of statistics being assembled and examined as all the research is collected – research which should have been done before the vaccines were ever approved for use.
    The politicians will be long gone by the time the true after-effects of the vaccines become evident.
    I wonder how many will remember the Pandemic of 2020-22 as they see a rise in numbers of rare health conditions. affecting their children and grandchildren.

  You are correct though, today is just the next act in her stage managed circus. Ardern will signal some “freedom” and some lifting of the utterly useless covid measures she imposed. She will tell us how their actions saved thousands of lies. Another complete lie. She is responsible for the destruction of so many lives already and for years to come. The impacts, both physical and mental will not be measured and will not be attributed to her and her experts. They should be and they should all be held to account. Instead so many naive NZers will be thankful to this ridiculous woman like a dog accepting a treat after being tied up and beaten for months.
  That she has signaled she is keeping these measures “in the toolbox” for the foreseeable future is an abomination. No government should have those powers so easily accessible.
  
  Not my PM. Never was and I look forward to the day I never have to see her face in the media again. I have honestly never despised a politician so much in my life and I’ve known quite a few bad ones. I need to make sure I am nowhere near a television or radio at 11am or it is liable to finish up being thrown through a window.

I recently got an email from the Registrar of Incorporated Societies. A new act is coming in to force in the near future. The email summarised the changes to the old 1908 act.
I read the email, and gave it considerable thought.
The unbelievable complexities that are being brought in could be the death of the voluntary sector of our country.
Think of your average fishing club, indoor bowls club, darts club, football club etc. The complexities to come in will make the administration of such voluntary organisations a minefield that few unpaid volunteers will take up. The myriad of those organisations throughout our country will be in strife. I think those outfits are a decent part of the fabric of our society.
That fabric will fray.

  Was a board member on the PTA of an Intermediate school. The normal lifetime of a board member was between 2 and 4yrs, depending on the # of children to go through the school.
  
  You need a treasurer and that person frequently changes. We were dealing with Westpac and the rules around changing treasurer / signees were so over the top. Various branches had different rules based on their understanding! We worked a system where the exiting treasurer would phone around bank branches and eventually use the one that had the simplest requirements.
  Couldn’t believe that Westpac couldn’t get its head around the requirements and I can’t believe the government would now choose make it more complex.

    I have been treasurer of a Probus Club (with ANZ) and a Vintage Car Club (with Westpac). The rules and procedures are a bit OTT. The Probus one had an annual turnover of something like 6k …. madness. Not enough for me to abscond to South America ….

    My wife and I merged our family trusts (which were mirror images) further to the Trusts Act 2019. All done legally through a specialist trust lawyer. No practical change of asset ownership, just paperwork. A new bank account number was needed. Westpac’s demands, purportedly under the AML, were beyond belief. It took 3 months of debate, and only got done when I demanded to know what clauses of the Act they were relying on. They didn’t reply, just finally carried out the requested task.

  It could have a chilling effect on those who set up Incorporated Societies with names such as ‘New Era Power Inc’ whose sole aim is to oppose resource consent applications. If the group loses and has significant costs awarded against it, the group becomes insolvent and the successful party does not get the owed costs. We now have more than 1000 people in hospital being treated for Covid or for some other condition complicated by Covid, and as at yesterday, there were 25 people in ICU, the most since the pandemic began. I can’t see her dropping from red light level at the moment.

Half of Underhill Road is in Greytown and the other in Featherston, divided by the Tauherenikau River.
The same numbering system is used on both sides of the river, resulting in duplicate addresses.
Complaints were laid by NZ Post in 2019.
Featherston Community Board were quick to dismiss need for consultation in their town.
If Greytown wanted to change name of Underhill Road on their side, they could do so.

Bugger. Christopher Luxon is visiting Whanganui today, and I have been involved in organising his visit. He’s got a sold-out lunch with business owners, a meeting with farmers, a visit to an organisation that trains disabled people to join the workforce and a sold-out dinner tonight organised by the local National Party.

Unfortunately, I won’t be there. I started coughing yesterday, and it’s worse this morning. A RAT test last night was negative, but I’m being sensible and staying away. I know; it’s just a flu, and we’re all going to catch it anyway, and I could easily justify tagging along with the LotO today. But no, I’ll be responsible, and pissed off!

The good news is that a whole lot of Whanganui people are going to meet Christopher Luxon today, and hopefully be impressed by him. The bad news is that I won’t be one of them!

  Gargle (salt and water). Keep up with the vitamins and zinc.
  Take Panadol if you feel feverish, 2 tabs/8 hourly.
  Drink LOTS of water. Eat what little you fancy.
  Keep warm, avoid changes in temperature (very important).
  It took me a good 12 days to feel right again, all day, but now I’m feeling fit again – well, as fit as an 85 yo can be.

  Different for everyone, but given the hype Covid’s been a real let-down not even rating first place in normal yearly illnesses. My family’s experience so far is not as bad as even a mild hangover for adults, and a day of mild fevers needing some extra sleep and quiet time in front of TV for the kids before bouncing back the following day. 1. My questions are: when was she boosted? Did she have a booster and then an infection shortly after causing extreme symptoms.

2. She has to wait for 8 hours with 24 other people in a carpark tent to get “triaged” How does this work. Are people separated. Are they warm and fed and lying in a bed and given drinks and toilets in the tent?

3. She was admitted to the actual hospital only after vomitting. So i guess she is then counted as a covid boosted hospitalisation. But are the people in the tent all triaged to hospital or is this a mobile hospital. Are the people in the tent counted as part of the hospitalisation statistics.

        I agree, wearing a mask may be appropriate if you know you have a cold and don’t want to spread it around, or if you think it will protect you. Also, if there’s anything we should have learnt from all this is “one size does not fit all” and people should not be judged for how they wish to live their life (as long as they don’t harm others). A true democracy protects people but gives them as much freedom as is possible to choose their own path.

I was mulling over what will be Cindy’s legacy, after she loses the next election.

The easy answer would be that she is the person who has presided over a government that has made everything demonstrably worse. Nothing is better than when she started in 2017. I cannot think of any exceptions. Everything is worse.

This theory is elegant, simply because it is correct, and yet I favour something else as being Cindy’s great legacy.

Cindy has been honest about her struggles with her mental health. She said that she suffers from an anxiety disorder and imposters syndrome. We could safely add the white saviour complex and the messiah complex to her list of mental illnesses.

Cindy won a landslide victory. How did she achieve this? I think she achieved this by launching a fear campaign of an intensity and duration that has never been seen before in New Zealand, and seldom been seen before anywhere else. Previously confident, optimistic people were turned into nervous wrecks, by a blitzkrieg of unmitigated fear propaganda.

Back in 1987, New Zealand’s sporting teams were on fire. The economy was roaring. People were happy, confident and ambitious.

Now, the country is fearful, and hiding under their beds. The culture has been changed. It has even infected our sporting teams. To be successful, they need to play without fear.

Somehow, the entire culture New Zealand has changed. We have become a nation of fearful, insular, anxious bed wetters.

This, then, is the great legacy of Cindy. She has somehow projected her anxiety based mental illnesses onto the entire population.

  I am pretty certain that after leaving office she will be villified by the public so much that living in NZ will be virtually impossible for her. I will have absolutely no sympathy for her either as she will deserve all of the garbage and hatred that will be thrown at her. The damage to the economy that her policies have caused will take years to fix if ever, and as for the psychological damage done to many citizens of NZ who knows what the end result will be. She should never be forgiven for her actions.

“The Government is scrapping the limit on outdoor gatherings from Friday and has revealed the end of vaccine pass use and mandates for some industries from next month.

The number of people allowed to gather inside increases from 100 to 200 under the changes to the red light traffic setting.

Masks will continue to be used, but today’s move means outdoor concerts, sports and other outdoor events would be able to resume under the red setting.

The traffic light changes will kick in from this Friday…

Vaccine passes will not longer be required to be used from April 4.

The Government is also ending the controversial vaccine mandates in education, police or Defence Force workers and those workplaces using them from April 4.”

  Vaccine passes no longer being mandatory will be interesting. The only reason it had legal standing was because of the supposed “public good” but that doesn’t exist if it isn’t mandatory. Therefore, any business requiring vaccine passes will be discriminating based on health choices. Seems like a dangerous thing to do for a business.

    Yes, very dangerous I should think. If my cafe* decided to admit only men, or to bar gay gingers, or to bar pregnant persons with vaginas I would rightly expect the force of the law to be applied.
    
    We already have the BORA which should prevent medical-based discrimination, but the government has shown itself willing to legislate in contravention of that Act.
    
    What we need is an opposition leader with a spine (yeah, yeah I know) who is prepared to tackle this. Not holding my breath.

  What a stupid thing to say. The government knows nothing because they only listen to ‘experts’ who have been hand-picked because they support the government’s policy objectives. Had they been authentically interested, then would have known that trying to contain or eradicate a coronavirus that has an animal reservoir has always been pointless. The evidence in support of this assertion pre-dates SARS-CoV-2 by a decade.

  Everyone knows the reported positive infection numbers don’t mean a bag of beans.
  They are undoubtedly only the tip of the iceberg.
  On the other hand the numbers of infected people in hospitals is no doubt reasonable accurate.
  However
  That number is still at record levels and whether the infected person is there because they are infected or not they still have to be isolated in a designated covid-19 ward.
  A couple of days ago I accompanied my wife to an see a doctor at the Manukau Super Centre and she said Middlemore was still struggling to cope.

    My neighbour came out of Middlemore hospital at the weekend. Said there were a lot of staff seemingly hanging around doing nothing, including not paying attention to those in the beds. Didn’t get a meal. Neighbour left a day earlier than expected… had a guts full.

Here we go, team. If you die as a result of a vaccine adverse reaction your life insurance company may decline to pay out because they regard the vaccine as an experimental treatment (not covered), and because the risks were well known your death could be considered suicide (not covered).

  I called my insurer months ago. They said their policies covered death as a result of vaccine (the covid one) and any other vaccine approved by medsafe.
  
  They also described covid as a mild flu like respiratory disease.
  
  When insurance companies consider it non-dangerous (relative to my health and age) that’s when you know what j dog is telling us is BS. Any hint of a payout and the insurers wouldn’t cover it.

  It has become common to use the word whanau instead of family, but from my (admittedly limited) understanding, the terms are not actually interchangeable.

      “Well, they’re a special type of tamariki.
      
      For instance, we have mokopuna, even though our tamariki don’t have tamariki”, I told him.

This happened a few weeks ago, and I changed my password (using links in Kiwiblog – not some dodgy link in a pop-up box), so it seems weird that the issue this has come up again. Is Kiwiblog an unsecure website or something?

Yes, I know some people will say just use a different browser, but I don’t really want to have Edge, Firefox, Mozilla and whatever else on my PC – and Kiwiblog is the only website where this is an issue.

  Do you use the same password at KB as at other sites? What can happen is that other sites get compromised and your email/password combination end up on the dark web, for sale in lists of thousands of similarly captured credentials.
  
  Microsoft trawls the dark web for these lists (I don’t know how they do this) looking for a match. If they see one you’ll get this message, essentially warning you that your credentials have been compromised.
  
  When you changed your password, did you create a 100% unique one? If yes, then I can’t explain your still getting that warning.

I think you’ve correctly identified what happened – I used a password for “online” things that were unrelated to “important” things like internet banking or dealings with government departments. Trade Me was another one that popped up as an internet security risk. I’ve just changed my Kiwiblog password to something more random, so hopefully that resolves the issue.

  And that unless he paid them USD2000 in Bitcoin, they were going to….. ‘send videos to his private and business contacts of him wanking while watching porn-sites’.

Well, One News have officially jumped the shark this time.

Reporting on the flooding in the Gisborne region … except the problem is, you wouldn’t actually know that’s where it was. Because from beginning to end, the reporters didn’t mention the name Gisborne. Not once. Simon Dallow introduced the item by talking about Tairawhiti, and the reporter used the term Tairawhiti the whole time. Only once was the name Gisborne used, and that was by someone who was interviewed.

In a country that we are constantly told is so multi-cultural and diverse and where we must embrace that diversity, this is just silly. Worse than that, I would argue it’s actually quite irresponsible to do this in one of the primary news programmes. Consider immigrants who probably speak their own language and have English as a second language. For them, trying to decipher the news and work out just where these places are must be horribly confusing, if not impossible.

The news has a responsibility, surely, to communicate important and vital information to EVERYBODY clearly and without ambiguity. For them to refuse to use the common place-name for a region when reporting such important news is flat out irresponsible.
