Michael Field describes himself as a “journalist and writer on South Pacific”. He posted this on Twitter late yesterday:

It didn’t take long for Field’s inaccuracies to get pointed out. The planes in question were ordered in 2004, long before Luxon became CEO of Air New Zealand. Sir Ralph Norris was the boss of Air NZ at the time, succeeded by Rob Fyfe, whom Luxon succeeded in 2012.

But it calls Field’s integrity into question. This story from Fiji Broadcasting’s senior multi-media journalist Edwin Nand notes an incident from August 2021:

Incorrect news reports about Fiji by a New Zealand-based journalist has raised concerns among the local media fraternity.

Michael Field has been known to publish articles that are factually incorrect and lack official corroboration and has come under the spotlight again for claiming that Fijian journalists had been arrested for reporting on the iTaukei Land Trust Bill.

FBC News reached out to Field to explain why he ran information from sources without verification or confirmation from official channels.

I wonder if Field will offer the courtesy of an apology to Christopher Luxon for a blatant political smear; somehow, I doubt it. If you needed any proof as to how inaccurate and misleading this smear was, not even Labour’s chief social media agitator, Clint Smith, has gone near this story!

    We accept that the article and the statements about Mr Jennings and his businesses within it were entirely without merit; Mr Field did not contact Mr Jennings for his comment; and the article failed to meet Fairfax’s high expectations in relation to its own editorial standards and journalistic ethics.
    
    Bugger me…it doesn’t get more groveling than that. After that sort of result, Field shouldn’t have been able to get a job on the local giveaway.

      Careful there David G as some of us slide into total irrelevance, local giveaways are a vital link to our communities, who ever the F@#$ this jerkoff might imagine hiself to be, we appreciate what the local giveaway delivers.
      He might be useful as the editor of The Auckland Islands Gazette , then again that discerning readership probably would not be interested either.

  On the matter of rates. On average Kiwis buy and sell a house every 7 to 9 years according to the stats. So they dont get to live in one house long enough to really grasp the increase in their rates.
  On the other hand Mrs LMS and I have lived in our house since 1979. At that time we paid the East Coast Bays Borough Council the princely sum of $236 a year in rates.
  
  Fast forward and we are now paying north of $4000 in rates. Stats NZ tell me that the rates have increased 450% of the CPI and wages and salaries increase over that time.
  
  Sadly the services we get from the Auckland Council havent. And I have never seen any explanation for why the rates should not reflect the CPI and wages and salaries increases over that time.
  I say Councils have become bloated. The changes to the Local Body Act by the Clark regime in 2002 have allowed Councils to run amok wasting rates on vanity projects competing with private enterprise whilst ignoring core spending like roads rubbish parks and libraries.
  
  In addition the rating model is flawed. It doesnt match the costs with the usage of the assets and services.
  It is a 19th Century model in the 21st Century. The model using property valuations should be replaced with a model based on usage and ability to pay from income.

    In this day and age Councils should not be funding libraries!!
    
    They provide DVD rentals? and cheap Internet access as well as large numbers of fiction books and magazines.
    
    The original thinking for libraries were to provide a storage of knowledge.
    NOT a cheap source of entertainment for a few local citizens. Just check the surveys of how many citizens(%) use the the library for searching for knowledge??
    
    The current knowledge storage and source of entertainment is provided by gasp shock horror. The internet.
    
    So lets get councils back to the basics.

    lastman: it’s even worse out here in the country mate; I pay $2,500 odd but get my water from the sky, dispose of my own shit (thru a septic tank), and pay for rubbish disposal bag by bag.
    
    For that 2500 I get 2 kms of local road to SH 16 and the use of the Helensville library.

    I’d like to see an explanation of why you think that rates should only rise at the rate of the CPI?
    
    Building and maintaining all of the infrastructure that has been created in Auckland since 1979 wasn’t free. It has cost literal billions and those costs have been carried by all of the ratepayers in the district
    
    Why on earth would you think all that infrastructure should have been free?

  Michael Field has been reporting on the south pacific for about forty years or so. He is, so far as I’m aware, still banned from Fiji for reporting critical of the regime there. Incidentally, we seem to be okay with resuming full military cooperation with Fiji, probably on the grounds that it is better to do so than have the Chinese buy more of the country and its leaders. Field has reported widely on the decline of democracy in the region.
  I hope he apologises too. It must be very worrying to have national party stalwart Tony Stuart on your case. Luxon appears to have been hated enough by Air NZ staff without have extra misdemeanours attributed to him.

And because your lack knowledge of business, and having never led anything other than perhaps a dog, people in positions of leadership are seldom liked by everyone they lead.         A moment’s reflection should, but probably won’t, persuade you that profligacy with human lives is not defined by race.
        It’s nive that you admire Le Duc Tho, who famously declined the Nobel Peace Prize. Not a hard decision – to refuse sharing a peace prize with Kissinger. If he said what you report above, it would chime nicely with your worship of Churchill, for example: “we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be”. And of course, warfare between the ‘civilized’ nations has been notoriously profligate with human life. But perhaps it was different for brown Vietnamese defending their homeland than for white Englishmen defending theirs.

  About the “paint”story. Both Boeing and more acutely Airbus have problems with the protective “paint” on their composite structures, in some cases the coating is eroding and peeling. Qatar Airlines had most of their Airbus 950’s grounded at one stage.
  
  Apparently it is related to a reaction between the composites, the copper film over the composites in certain areas (which is there to protect the plane structure from lightning strikes) and the “paint”. Both manufacturers are working on a more permanent solution, and planes have been repaired and are back in service in the meantime.
  
  It is certainly nothing to do with ANZ or Chris Luxon, but is a worldwide issue.

  I have zero sympathy for Will Smith because he was happy to laugh away when (so called) comedians made fun of people Will Smith didn’t like. That he gets upset when it comes close to him is hypocritical.
  
  I have zero sympathy for Chris Rock because he – and all his ilk – were loud when talking about MeToo, BLM, equality and diversity but he thinks it’s OK to make fun of – i.e. humiliate – someone based on their appearance. He effectively pointed at Jada Pinkett Smith and said “Look! There’s a woman, and she’s bald!
  Where’s the opprobrium for that?

      He said “Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see you.” That’s not exactly besmirching her honour or even mean spirited at all. He certainly didn’t attack her reputation in any way (unless being linked to a potential GI Jane 2 counts?). He didn’t even attack her looks or her lack of hair. At worst you can say he brought attention to her lack of hair, that’s it.
      
      Will Smith was clearly out of order. Even if it was appropriate to defend her honour, he still had no right to physically assault Chris Rock. Ths attack was about Will Smith, not any wrongs committed by Chris Rock.

        Rouppe, as I said, he brought attention to her hair but there is no way you could possibly argue that he attacked or insulted her lack of hair. To be honest, I always thought short hair Demi Moore was stunning.
        
        She rolled her eyes because she didn’t like the joke (rolling eyes doesn’t generally mean offense, it’s more a physical groan), that’s fine. She has every right to be offended but honestly, she’s got big problems if that offends her and that’s her problem, not Chris Rock’s. Chris Rock didn’t reap anything, he got assaulted for doing his job (yes, presenters are actually supposed to make jokes about the audience members) and it wasn’t even close to the worst joke, probably closer to one of the tamest.

    If his wife was really upset? They could have simply stood up and walked out. Look after her, give her time to regain her composure and decide whether she wants to return or not. Either one or both of them could have returned in the next ad break.
    
    It would have delivered a message about the “joke” while keeping the focus on the victim (her, not him) and demonstrating grace and dignity.

      Exactly. It’s not okay, at all, to assault someone over a joke. Wouldn’t the normal response at a theatre be to remove someone who assaulted the staff (entertainer), and also call the police?

      ACC had changed from “pay-as-you-go” to “fully funded”. Pay as you go means today’s contributions pay for today’s costs. Fully funded meant they had to have enough in the bank now to fund the long ones right till the end.
      
      So of course they were in the hole. The fully funded approach would be interesting if it was applied to the pension …

Tried watching the am show this morning, my first consumption of a TV news program in over 2 years.

It appears to be half in a language that I don’t understand, and the amoeba “reporters” could barely read from the autocue. Like seriously, a 10 year could read it clearer.

Unwatchable with the necessary jamming in of Maori words everywhere.

Good to see David Seymour as the top article on News hub today though, continuing to push for a democracy and a referendum on Co governance.

As he says, “…not all disadvantaged people are Māori, and not all Māori people are disadvantaged”

You wouldn’t think that was case with what os being force fed on us.

    I presume it makes the news readers and reporters feel all warm and fuzzy inside when they use these names, but when you’re trying to keep up with a story and can’t understand where the hell the reporter is actually talking about, it does get rather irritating.
    
    My wife complains that I sit through less and less of the news these days, but as I explain to her – when you can’t understand a significant proportion of the language that’s used, what’s the point?

Interesting discussion and good participation in the issue of Wellington and its useless councilors yesterday.

I would like to see the None Of The Above (NOTA) option introduced on the ballot. If NOTA wins, and this is very important, I think the politicians should be asked to go back and do better — i.e. have another election with better policies platforms and better candidates. Repeat until you get it right.

Despite all objections — procedural, cost etc, doing this a few times will hopefully give confidence to the right candidates with sensible policies to put their name forward.

The NOTA option has the potential to energise ratepayers to vote in greater numbers–because their wishes will actually count once more when presented with a set of duds.

  I am a big fan of NOTA (with teeth!), especially as an option in STV elections, considering it to be an extension of voter choice that would enable voters to indicate a “positive abstention”, or to “withhold their consent”, as they see fit (not necessarily as a means to increase voter participation, although that would certainly be a welcome benefit).
  
  But, for any NOTA option to have teeth, it would, firstly, need to be treated as if it were an additional candidate (as you suggest). In other words, the votes given for NOTA would not just be counted, then set aside, the way informal and blank votes are.
  
  Secondly, any single candidate, rather than being elected unopposed, would need to defeat NOTA to be elected; and thirdly, rejected mayoral (or other single vacancy) candidates would not be able to stand in any follow-up election. Nor would the highest polling rejected candidate, be appointed to the mayoralty (or other vacancy).
  
  Fourthly: ideally, the councillor election would need to be an at-large affair*, i.e., all vacancies would be filled citywide, rather than from wards (or regional council constituencies). Finally, should NOTA “win” one or more councillor vacancies, the seat(s) would remain vacant for the ensuing triennium.
  
  * In, say, a three-seat ward, the quota for election would be 25%; way too high for NOTA to have any chance of attaining. If, however, say, 10 councillors (or other representatives) were being elected together (or at-large), the quota that NOTA would need to attain would only be 9.09%. Now that would concentrate a few minds.
  
  In my view, there is much to recommend NOTA, but getting it legislated for wouldn’t be easy.

      Great suggestion, to see if the Taxpayers’ Union could get a campaign started. It took me (with one or two others) eight years (1993-2001) to get STV legislated for, as an option for local elections, so, however the campaign is conducted, it won’t be easy.
      
      Also, you said: “Repeat until you get it right.” While it would be extraordinary if NOTA got 50% of the votes, to win, say, a mayoral election by PV (single-seat STV)*, were it to happen, then a new election a few months later, with different candidates entirely, could be held, but without a NOTA option. Those few months would be needed for the powers-that-be to take stock of what happened, and why, and to take some sort of remedial action, whatever that might be.
      
      * For such an outcome to be achieved, the candidates contesting the election would have to be unusually unattractive (from an electoral point of view).
      
      We would have to be wary of voter fatigue / declining interest, and having a caretaker mayor for too long, if we kept going until NOTA lost. Participation rates in council elections are bad enough as it is, without a third or even fourth mayoral re-run election being decided on a 10-15% turnout!
      
      I’m glad you raised this topic. It gave me an excuse to dredge up a paper I wrote more than 20 years ago, advocating NOTA — I called it NOTC (None of these Candidates), as they do in Nevada — and to read it again.
      
      (My third point is in paragraph 3, line 2.)

        Hmm, I could do that, I suppose, but my paper has six ‘elections’ as appendices, using my old NZ STV demonstration computer program (written by my late STV mentor in England, Dr I D (David) Hill (1926-2015)), which show various ways that NOTA can be accommodated within the STV system. I would really want you to see those first, then we could take it from there.
        
        What say I (slightly) revise my paper (which I have done a number of times over the years), and send it to DPF, asking him to forward my e-mail to you. If it meets with your approval (you could let me know on General Debate), I could then condense it into a format suitable to be put up as a Guest Post. Listening to Chris Hipkins being interviewed on our declining education performance made me realise what a made up fantasy world our government leaders live in.
When asked why school absenteeism is so high his first reason was “because parents take their children on overseas trips”.
When asked how he could reduce absenteeism his solution is “to make schools a more attractive place for kids to want to go”.
It just shows how far these idiots will go to deny root causes of problems. To them it is only the well off who are ever responsible.
Making schools more appealing is the child lead approach to learning that has got us into this mess.

  Ah, the ‘monitoring’ shemozzle. Fairly large sections of the public service are devoted to ‘monitoring’ the performance of other parts of the public service. As might be expected, this creates work for both the monitoring agency and the agency being monitored, but results in no discernible benefit to either agency, or to parliament or the public.
  It seems to have taken off after the crown entities act was passed 20-odd years ago, and has, naturally, got ever more complicated and expensive.

      Ah, good question. There are a number of ways in which agencies are monitored and scrutinised. Some of these involve central agencies: the Treasury, PSC, Audit NZ. Some are from parliament more directly, via questions and select committee scrutiny. Some are via s the media or directly from the public by information requests. All of these mechanisms could be strengthened. Instead, much resource has been expended on establishing boards for semi-independent crown entities, whose performance is monitored by ‘parent’ departments, For example, MBIE monitors NZ Trade & Enterprise, the Tourism Board and Worksafe, among others. The Ministry of Transport monitors Waka Kotahi, CAA, Maritime NZ, etc. Between these agencies’ boards, the monitoring departments, and the other methods I mentioned above, no one is really sure who is responsible for anything going wrong (or right).

  Once upon a time after work, reporters went home, or to the pub, or to a sports club or a voluntary service club dinner , or a boring PTA meeting.

      My personal theory is that 30-40 years ago, when the pay scales of different professions were a lot more tightly grouped, you got a lot of smart people going into professions like journalism. And those smart people invested the time to understand their field, their topics, and they asked smart questions.
      
      Nowadays the pay differentials are such that all the smart people go into law, or commerce, or anything but journalism. So you’re left with journos who just lack that last bit of insight and clarity, and who can’t think on their feet to follow up on something stupid their interview subject just said, so they just plow on to the next scripted soft-ball question.
      
      (Note: Similar dynamic with teaching. In the 1950s & 1960s, when women had a lot less career options, there were lots of smart women who saw teaching as one of the few career paths open to them … and the quality of our teachers was higher. Today, the smart women are choosing law, or commerce, or … and the IQ of the average teacher has fallen as a result. Witness things like the quality of maths teaching.)

        A few years ago one stupid young bint at my daughter’s high school told her class that “some gangs are a force for good in their communities”. Regular readers can guess my reaction to that – straight up to the school to see the principal.
        
        Long story short, when I confronted her at a PTA meeting (or whatever they are called today) a few weeks later – when I had cooled off – I asked her if she thought some members of the SS were actually good guys.
        
        Her reply floored me: “I have never heard of that gang” How the fuck can you get even a BA and not know who the SS were and what they did? Miss Norman and Mrs Kuen from Mangapapa primary would certainly have known.

        You could well be correct. I can’t recall where I saw this, but a high school principal use to earn about the same as the secretary of education.
        As for journalists, the big money is for those who blather their opinions over the broadcast media. The Hoskings, Campbells, O’Briens, DuPlessis-Allans, etc, do not need any journalistic skills, much less ethics, to play their trade.

I do recall my parents sending my spelling notebook back with corrections to the spelling in it…. Technical challenges and solutions
Below is a summary of items to be observed for the use of biofuels and a few words on how to prevent damages on board:

Microbial growth: Bacteria and mould may grow if condensed water accumulates in biodiesel fuel. Microbial growth leads to excessive formation of sludge, clogged filters and piping. Frequent draining of tanks and the application of biocide in the fuel may reduce or mitigate microbial growth.
Oxygen degradation: Biodiesel can degrade over time, forming contaminants of polymers, and other insolubles. Deposits in piping and engines could form, compromising operational performance. In advanced stages, this could lead to increased fuel acidity, which could result in corrosion in the fuel system and accumulation of deposits in pumps and injectors. It is therefore recommended not to bunker the fuel for long-term storage before use, but to treat the fuel as fresh goods and to use it within a relatively short period of time. Adding antioxidants to the fuel at an early stage may improve the ability of a somewhat longer time of storage without degradation.
Low temperature: Biodiesels in higher concentration usually have a higher cloud point than diesel (depending on feedstock), leading to poor flow properties and the clogging of filters at lower temperatures. It is therefore important to know the product’s cold flow properties and to keep the storage and transfer temperatures above the cloud point.
Corrosion: This is most critical for biodiesel in higher concentration (B80-B100). Some types of hoses and gaskets could degrade, leading to loss of integrity and interaction with some metallic material such as copper, brass, lead, tin, zinc, etc. It could also result in an increased formation of deposits. Hence, it is important to verify that these components in the fuel system are endurable and can be used together with biofuel.
Possible degeneration of rubber sealings, gaskets and hoses: It is important to verify that these components in the fuel system are endurable and can be used together with biofuel.
Conversion: Biodiesel has shown to have a solvent property, so when switching from diesel to biofuel it is expected that deposits in the fuel system will be flushed, clogging fuel filters. It is recommended to flush the system and/or to monitor filters during this period.

OK, A whole lot of technical issues. It has been trialed in Queensland and
also a lot in Brazil.
What do they have in common? Sugar cane and Corn/Maize to make into Bio diesel.
NZ would have to import ethanol. Then there remains the quality and standard of Bio Diesel.
Oil companies appear to be tripping over themselves in promoting this. Why?

Personally I can see this being the Mother of unintended consequences if allowed to go ahead. Remember also its 4-6% less efficient than Diesel from fossil Fuels.

  The Wiri plant used to use Tallow, before it was mothballed.
  Sugar cane and Maize are typically used to create bio-ethanol rather than bio-diesel.
  Scion have been working pretty hard on using pyrolysis from wood and other feedstocks to create a bio-oil which can then be converted into diesel and petrol substitutes.
  In the past work has been done on oil seed rape and alike as well. They all produce different fuels, so no doubt there would be work to be done on which ones are best with what to solve which problems, but I dont think all of those issues exist for every bio-fuel.
  
  It still seems like an easier technological problem to solve than hydrogen or electric trucks to me. Of course there are lower ongoing burdens with hydrogen production than with biofuels, which you have to keep producing feed stocks for.

The UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, on an unsecure line discussing weapon supplies to Ukraine and even alluding to some potential support for a nuclear policy in that country. The most concerning part is he was talking to a couple of well known Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus.
How is he still in his position? How could he fall for something like this? How was it not checked before the call went through? This is an astonishing faux pas. Just imagine what Mahuta might say!!

  I’m part of a professional organization with a 100+ year history that has now changed it’s name to something that I don’t know what it means and I struggle to pronounce. Every gathering of the organization is kicked off with bit of a song with lyrics that mean nothing to me. Then someone will do a speech for 2 – 5 minutes in a language that 95% plus of the audience don’t understand. Only then will the presentation begin. I often sit there thinking surely I can’t be the only one here who thinks this is crazy. Of course no one would ever utter their dismay publicly as you’d be outcast as a heretic.

An article in the herald today on benefit rates going up. Apparently a single parent of one takes home $714 a week. Which is the equivalent of a pre tax income of $44K. More than the minimum wage and with no costs of working, transport / clothing etc.

So we pay solo parents more than the full time minimum wage. But it gets better, if you have a student loan to repay then the $714 in the hand per week is equivalent to a salary of $50K after loan deductions. A starting teacher in NZ has a salary of around $48K.

My wife has just telephoned her hairdresser to enquire as to whether they will be cutting unvaccinated hair come Arderns relenting date in April 5 . Yes absolutely they answered and gave her the first available appointment. 6th of May! We live in a village of approximately 3000 souls with two hairdressers and a barber.So a good number of those 5 % unvaccinated must live in our village 😂. If this is repeated across the country surely the governments figures on vaccination must be questionable. Before the immoral mandates and coercion was implemented she could ring a few days ahead to secure an appointment. I know for a fact that the barber was cutting all comers throughout and despite of Arderns threats and bullying. Food for thought. I know it may sound ridiculous but maybe the government have been lying.. surely not

I see Christopher “Light up” Bishop uses it as an opportunity to take a sideways swipe at other Labour MPs.

14 years. And in that time what has she got to show other than promoting the marriage equality bill? The saddest part of this is that Bishop is partially right: compared to her Labour colleagues that’s an exceptional career.

Same sex marriage was hardly a breakthrough bit of legislation. By 2013 there were already heaps of other countries who had done this.

  As a Maori lesbian electorate MP, who pushed through same sex marriage legislation … shouldn’t she be golden in the Labour Party?
  
  So why no Ministerial posts? Why has the Labour Party encouraged challengers in her electorate? Does it have something to do with her role in the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China?
  
  I’ve never heard anything that sheds light on those sort of questions.

    Turns out there stories from both the Horrid and Stuff on Louisa Wall’s retirement, with the common theme being that she’s her own woman and wouldn’t bend enough to “the Party”.
    
    The problem for MPs is that there’s always a small “kitchen cabinet” who get to make decisions, and then the rest are basically just cannon fodder who get whipped to place their votes in the House, and told to turn up at various functions where an MP is needed to be seen.
    
    If you want to actually make decisions, and make a difference, but you’re not in the “in” crowd then … it’s lonely.
    
    Of course, if you’re too dumb or too lazy to make decisions, but you like the prestige, the salary, and the expense arrangements then selling your soul (if you ever had one) to be vote fodder is a dream life.
    
    Personally … respect to Louisa Wall for getting stuff done *despite* her Party and despite her lowly ranking. I’d say Louisa Wall and David Garrett deserve some sort of award for getting legislation passed even though they were far away from the seat of power.

  A cheap shot, cmm. You could ask that question about dozens of MPs, from all sides of the House.
  
  (Why do so many people overlook the work MPs do in select committees? One of the reasons why the 1986 Royal Commission recommended 120 MPs — they really wanted 140 — was to ensure that proposed legislation was properly reviewed by a PR/MMP-elected parliament.)

Apparently word round the Viaduct, is one of the main reasons Dalts opted for Barcelona rather than Auckland, was the mere suggestion Fa’anana Efeso Colins could end up as the city’s new mayor.

But according to those in the know…..now that Wayne Brown has thrown his hat in the ring, it’s going to be a real contest.

NHS trusts ask men if they are pregnant before having scans

Men are being asked if they are pregnant before undergoing scans at NHS trusts in England, it has emerged.

Male cancer patients and those having X-Rays and MRI scans are being asked if they could be expecting after the Government removed the word “female” from the law governing the medical procedures and replaced it with “individuals”.

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, in Liverpool, now asks “ALL patients under the age of 60, regardless of how you may identify your gender”.

  When a condition only affects 1% of a population, does it really make sense to change everything to accommodate them? Put it this way, there are probably more people who use sign language. So maybe the NHS should make it compulsory for their staff?

Ukraine releases list of identities of more than 600 alleged FSB agents, some of whom could possibly be operating in Britain

Ukraine has released a list of what it claims are the identities of more than 600 Russian spies, including one who appears to fancy himself as James Bond, in a bid to embarrass Moscow.

The list of 620 agents working for Russia’s FSB security agency, who are meant to stay in the shadows, exposes their passports, phone numbers and even their drinking habits.

One alleged FSB agent, according to the list, has a Skype address that includes the phrase “jamesbond007” as well as the characters “DB9”, referring to Bond’s iconic Aston Martin.

Another agent is said to have a taste for “premium cars”, while a third is a heavy drinker who “systematically violates traffic regulations”.

The Telegraph has not independently verified the list, which if confirmed would prove to be a major embarrassment for Moscow that may compromise many of its spies.

Ukrainian officials did not disclose how they had obtained the list. But Aric Toler, a researcher for the investigative website Bellingcat, said some of the data appeared to be based on previous leaks of sensitive Russian intelligence.

Last week, Russia reportedly launched a hunt for “Western spies” in the FSB, implying that Moscow fears the agency has been infiltrated.

Earlier in March, an FSB whistleblower claimed its spies had been kept in the dark about the plans for an invasion of Ukraine, going on to describe the war as a “total failure” akin to the collapse of Nazi Germany.

Vladimir Putin, the Russian leader, has reportedly placed some senior FSB figures under house arrest. The move appeared to be a reprisal for detailed plans of Russia’s invasion being obtained and disclosed by Western intelligence agencies.

Sounding more like Spy vs Spy.

  The article was written by Anne Gibson of the Bay of Plenty Times who also wrote a previous article the other day that was basically advertising, presumably free.
  She described it as a stately home.
  Oh dear!
  I see it is now listed at $3.9mil, the previous reserve.

Will be destroyed in 12 months if they can even build it
Denmarks are in waters sheltered from swell …. No way will it hold up on the rugged west coast

  I seem to recall that Meridian’s Te Apiti wind farm (biggest turbines in NZ at the time) was having turbine blades fail within two years. They were designed in Denmark for the highest wind locations with a 20 year design life….hopefully someone has been back to the drawing board since then.
  
  However….super high winds are not what one wants for a wind farm as they. Can’t operate above certain maximum wind speeds. So why on earth one would build off shore is beyond me. The economics must be appalling!

  The POS jailed for 13 years (well, probably 4 and a half at most, but he was sentenced to 13 years) is a part-Maori, Riki Ross Kake, as the caption underneath the photo makes clear.
  
  Can you imagine the outcry if it was a pakeha that did this and they showed a staged photo of a brown-skinned thug and a brown-skinned child victim?
