There is no question in my mind that the “we’re going to vaccinate our way out of Covid-19” narrative is falling apart, and rapidly. The increasing rates of infection, the attenuating personal protection, the non-existent sterilisation, the vaccine injuries, the damaged immune systems, the fertility reductions and so on. Even the most resourceful vaccinator cabals are struggling to keep this gathering storm of inconvenient data from showing that their mantra-like, strenuous assertions of safety and efficacy have been utterly fraudulent.

As infection rates continue to soar across the most vaccinated countries there is only so much doubling down these vaccinators can do before the metaphorical pitchforks start to appear as open carry in the alt and mainstream media. By my judgement leaders like Ardern will now be looking anxiously for an exit, and for her and most of her ilk that means engaging their army of spinmeisters to find, or to manufacture some unsuspecting group to throw under the bus.

But who? The ‘unvaccinated’ can’t be blamed because the evidence of their immune response being stronger that those of those jabbed multiple times is now beyond reasonable debate. No, that dog just won’t hunt again.

My theory is that the new group will be the ‘unmasked’.

Here’s how I see it playing out: Ardern will increase masking demands while simultaneously removing the heavy penalties currently imposed on establishments that fail to enforce these. This removal will be explained as “believing that our businesses know what’s needed” or “trusting our people to do what’s right” or some such flannel. Her hope will be, of course, that businesses do not enforce the masking mandates and that people increasingly ditch the face nappies, thereby swelling the ranks of the newly unmasked, all of whom can be designated disease-spreaders and thereafter blamed for the BA.4 or BA.5 Covid wave, and the next, and the next.

The unwitting unmasked will be blamed, rather than the fixated/OAS afflicted immune systems of millions of people who took Ardern, Bloomfield and the rent-an-expert clowns at their word about the safety and efficacy of Pfizer’s experimental genetic injectables.

Just a theory. If it comes to pass, remember where you heard it first.

  I doubt she will remove mask mandates. If it was voluntary, maybe 5 percent of people would wear masks. There goes control.
  
  I visit the New Brighton Hot pools. “Swimming pools” are exempt from the mask mandate. But the changing rooms are covered. There are signs saying wear masks. Of course there is nobody going in to check. I have not seen a single person wearing a mask.

    I was in Rarotonga recently, I didn’t see anyone wearing masks apart from at the airport and it’s staff and one unhealthy looking fat tourist. It was great; they’re living, not dying, there.

        Ross: Would you like to elaborate? As far as I know, the Cooks have been almost entirely free of Covid…so what is the “dying” you are referring to? From obesity related diseases perhaps? But then again as far I am aware, obesity is much less of a problem there than in Samoa or Tonga.

        Bene: Have you ever been to Tonga? The late Tongan King weighed over 250kg at his heaviest…mind you, he was also 6 foot five, and Tongans have been established as the biggest – not necessarily the fattest – people in the world.
        
        The late Jonah Lomu was only a bit above average size; you see guys bigger than him in every bar in Tonga on a Saturday night.

        Ben, I had a long holiday in Samoa in 2001. I remember thinking how few fat people there were there and I was chatting with the son (educated in the States) of a village chief on Savaii, and he said that generally, the only really obese people were the families of Chiefs.         DG, I read a book recently on the science of appetite. One section focused on genetic and epigenetic influences on size and strength noting that the long sea voyages to populate the islands favoured the large/fat/strong, with the other weaker travelers – up to 30% – dying en route. This has let to a gene pool that is biased towards fat storage as a means of welfare. It was an interesting book.

    What I’m suggesting is that at some point tyrants realise that self-preservation is more valuable to them than continued control. As people realised that her control has driven us into the current mess they will increasingly turn on her, and as this happens she will need to shift the blame.

    I haven’t worn a mask for months. Got the mask exemption so I could travel in planes no masks and no worries. The only people that seem to ask these are customs and airline staff. They always get the same answer. Yes, I have an exemption or no, your not permitted to see it or ask about it. Otherwise, no one else asks. I have noticed people that I know that were previously mask wearers not doing it any more and I ask “did you get an exemption finally”. The answer I get now, is, no, just decided not to do it any more. More and more people like this, and the enforcers at the supermarkets and stores have basically given up. Great to see.

        Cloth and Blue style masks (IE not N95) are about 3% effective. The virus laden aerosols (IE the stuff that will steam up a mirror) wizz straight through the pores of those masks and out the sides. Basically illogical.
        
        It’s an aerosol spread virus. So distancing and ventilation makes the most sense.

        Of course this is completely incorrect: Transmission is almost exclusively via aerosols. Attempting to stop aerosols with a surgical mask is like trying to stop the Waikato River with a sieve.

        The Swiss Policy Research blog is so dishonest that they don’t even declare who they are so in reality they might not even be Swiss.

    My partner wears a mask around seriously ill covid patients… hasn’t caught covid, nor have her colleagues caught it from work (usually from their children). How do you explain that if masks are ineffective?
    
    I’ll never believe you as you still believe in ivermectin and HCQ. HCQ is thoroughly discredited by non-Trump supporters, ivermectin still going through trials so you can’t claim one way or another.

  Unfortunately I don’t think we will ever know – no government sponsored inquiry will uncover the truth while Labour has the Treasury benches and any National government initiated inquiry will just be shout down by the Left as a jack up to smear St J of the Pox.

    pdm – we visited a close older relative for a spell a couple of weeks ago. They religiously wear their mask, they don’t like it but they are from that era where you trust the government etc. My wife spent a week with them and every time they entered a business she did so without a mask and without a problem. For the first 4 or 5 days the relative would pretend they had left something at the car and wouldn’t go into the shop with my wife. We quickly realised she was embarrassed in case there was a confrontation. As we now know, it’s all part of the psychology and gross manipulation.
    The good news is that by the end of a week our relative walked into a shop with my wife and didn’t even have the mask in their hand! A small win, but very pleasing, and the more we do this and lead by example, the sooner this tyranny ends.

    I hate this passive attitude: just wait until someone else makes it the case. I haven’t worn a mask since about November, I am completely unvaccinated and I have not had Covid (as far as I know, so if I have had it without my knowledge, that says it all).
    
    I don’t know your approach, but the way to get rid of mask requirements (or any other draconian Covid measure) is to simply ignore it: stop wearing them. The main factor maintaining any of this is public compliance. In fact, practically no laws or regulations are enforceable if compliance is absent.
    
    You may not realise it, but the extent of your participation and your potential power in our so-called democracy exceeds impotently voting every three years – exercise your democratic power through your everyday actions (or inactions, in this case).
    
    If everyone dissents, then the rules will be dropped: they cannot have open rebellion, so they will have to respond in the only way they can, which is by removing the rule in question (thereby, nobody will be breaking the rule any longer).

  If we could follow the money, I suspect this might provide a better indicator for what lies ahead.
  
  I thinks it’s pretty clear that Pfizer was able to control the narrative through funding the MSM and, directly, or indirectly, “experts”. This certainly occurred in the US and likely elsewhere. And still is.
  
  This control of public opinion has highlighted the amazing lack of any real principaled leadership in government. Instead we witnessed a totalitarian, poll following fearful government – the lot of them. Pretty difficult to respect that.
  
  So, Pfizer has played and so far won, big time. They took advantage of a fearful not-so-smart government through control of the media, experts and the health agencies.
  
  Do we know the contractual arrangements between government and Pfizer yet? that might help predict the future and likely next steps in the blame game about to erupt.
  
  I would be particularly worried if I were an “expert”. These are individuals who will be much easier to throw under the bus than a large pharmaceutical company with indemnity of a sweet contract in place…

– 500% increase in social housing waiting list since 2017
– The $12m ‘crisis’ on motel accommodation has become $1.2 billion
– Minister Sepuloni says not her fault, 9 years of neglect, or something
– Costs and risks for private landlords have unsurprisingly affected who are acceptable tenants in that sector

However, Labour might see an improvement in the rental housing sector if projected emigration happens. Pity that those heading out will be actual taxpayers

        Certainly Labour and Greens were very vocal about a housing crisis. But actually looking back at the various numbers it wasn’t anything near the current situation, no longer called a crisis by Labour. Because they have created most of it.
        
        For example still hear that National sold off thousands of state houses. But do we ever hear what happened to those houses? Most of which were onsold to community housing providers at heavy discounts, and the CHPs took over their management while continuing to receive the income related rent subsidy. Then there were those passed over to developers like Panuku in Auckland for regeneration, or sold on market when there was no demand for them (location, size).

  It would be good if someone could come up with a (reliable) estimate of the extent to which the market has been “suppressed”. Numbers and all that.
  
  Market churn in existing rental properties doesn’t make a lot of difference to total supply. An existing property that can’t be sold as a rental presumably goes to a FHB. Again some reliable numbers would be good.
  
  The key factor for expanding the private rental market would be how much “build-to-rent” has been or is happening. AFAIK not much other than by KO … For example I don’t know of any in Palmerston North although there seem to be plenty of new “build-to-sell-to-owner” places being constructed.

    There is a lot of housing data out there, a lot of it from officials and regularly reported, eg HUD. Trademe has reported monthly for years on supply / demand based on their large numbers of listings. StatsNZ also reports on various aspects, including time to time number of empty homes.
    
    What in your opinion would constitute reliable numbers? For example how would you rate Trademe sale and rental listing numbers over time? For example their rental vacancy listings up 40% (about 3,000) Jan to June 2022. And how would that compare to the new additions to the social housing waiting list Jan to May 2022 – that would be about 7,300.
    
    Few numbers are apples and apples so some judgement needs to be applied.
    
    My view, there is a housing crisis and it is mainly the number of risky tenants.

      A fair question. The bottom line is how many “build-to-rent” units (houses/apartments/whatever) were added last year or the years before? The TradeMe stuff seems to me to be pretty much related to churn of exisiting stock.
      
      No doubt some “owned” stuff gets to be downgraded to rental. Again would be nice to know how much.
      
      I hear and understand your preoccupation with reliable tenants. The fact that you are able to be picky suggests that demand for rentals exceeds supply ….

        The number of new builds for sale (Trademe) has doubled this year. Currently a smidge under 5,000, prob some off the plans. Behind most of those listings is a worried developer or builder – reported that a hundred or so have folded this year.
        
        Since about a third of homes are rentals, it would make sense to apply the same number here, though likely more than that would have been to rent.
        
        As I said not apples and apples, perhaps a trout in the milk.

        Yes maybe only a handful of new builds that were designated for rentals. But look at trends. That number doubled this year and rising each month. And the much larger total number of homes for sale (Trademe) up nearly 60% in 2022 so far and still rising. Some will be rentals, maybe a lot, and chances are landlords will not be buying them in numbers due to new tax rules, compliance costs and risks.
        
        Net emigration will help.

It was interesting to catch RNZ’s country programme last night when they interviewed an Aussie expat who lives in Seminyak in Bali about foot and mouth in Bali. I can’t say I have heard much about it in other forms of the media.
He said there are NO vaccines for it in Bali and he was very concerned about the possibility of it being brought back to Aus ( and NZ) by tourists. As anyone who has been to Bali knows there is often no great separation of tourists and animals ( He said that pigs are twice as likely to transmit it).

Our own MPI is confident that its biosecurity measures are world class and that they are keeping an eye on it but if I was them I would be extremely worried. Tourists are starting to flood back to Bali. I would have a foot bath at the airport for anyone who had been there.

      The important thing about science is that we constantly look for ways to prove we are wrong. This is at odds with preserving oral traditions. It’s not that there is no overlap, and it’s certainly not that oral traditions are worthless. It’s that proving them wrong is not really that useful to the people who value them. It doesn’t have to be science to be worthwhile knowledge. It doesn’t have to be science to be true. But if it’s science, it must be disprovable.

      I am absolutely open-minded about where therapies, treatments and medicines come from. As far as I’m concerned ‘medicine’ is medicine if it has been proven effective. I don’t care where it originates.
      
      The reason I’m aghast at this funding of ‘alternative’ therapies is the lack of rigorous testing to establish efficacy.
      
      Without it how can you possibly prove therapeutic benefit or that this money is well spent compared to existing therapies?
      
      Worse still, is the risk of harm to patients who may end up getting poor health outcomes from ineffective treatment and certainly when compared to patients receiving mainstream therapy.
      
      I am dumbfounded that the NZ Labour Party, who have lectured us for years about their pursuit of ‘evidence-based policy’ would proceed with untested and unverified mental health therapies and just accept at face value the claims of some vested interests that the efficacy of these treatments is guaranteed.
      
      Dumbfounded and appalled.
      
      If proponents of these therapies are so certain of their results then let’s put them to the test, as we test all other therapies, and let’s find out so that we can move forward with confidence.

        Treating mental health based on lunar cycles seems implausible. To say the least. And if you ask for clinical trials you will be called racist.
        
        It would be easy. Get 1000 Maori with mental health problems. Divide them into two random groups. Do conventional therapies on one group. Lunar universe cosmos therapies on other group. Assess results after 6 months.

      Actually Benedict, Kiwis used to be able to vote even if you were just a resident. I moved to Oz in 1979 and took up permanent residency. After 12 months I had to register to vote, and in that time voted in – from memory – 3 state elections, and 2 federal elections. I came home in 1988, and I think the rules changed around 1996.

    He is wrong. The number of seats in the Australian House of Representatives is not a function of population. It is based on a formula that calculates seat numbers based on the number of Senators. That is 76 and has not changed since 1984.
    
    If New Zealanders were entitled to vote in Australian elections, they may well vote for the Labor Party. Or not. But it won’t increase the numbers of seats in Parliament.

  It is time to look at allowing NZ superannuation to be paid to retired kiwis who want to live in Oz to be close to their grandchildren. It’s ridiculous that some retirees maintain 2 homes and live for 6 months in each country just to ensure they get their super. The benefits are easy to predict – freeing up housing and reducing pressure on health care. The downside not much.

  Who needs the moh data? I live in a small rural town and there are alot of people who are unvaccinated to the point where it is really hard to believe that vax rates are as high as the moh claim, our local pub nearly went bankrupt due to the passports as bugger all locals got the jab. Most of my friends and many people I know are not vaccinated and covid has swept through here twice now with almost everyone having had it. The interesting part is I am yet to meet an unvaccinated person who had covid and ranked it anymore than a hangover, I don’t know of anyone unvaccinated that even went to a doctor let alone hospital. The only people I know who are getting really sick from covid are the vaccinated. I know at least 6 people who were vaxxed and went to hospital with covid, one of whom now has ongoing heart problems. I could spell out so many examples of people I know and the effect it had on them but the conclusion I’ve come to is the vaxxed are the ones getting seriously sick. The moh can say whatever they like but it doesn’t match up in my world. Alot of people are now realizing this.

They needed to paint the unvaxxed as an irrational tiny minority, but it is increasingly becoming apparent that the unvaxxed are neither irrational nor a tiny minority. Even given the punitive consequences of my decision, I do not for one minute regret refusing to comply. Time is the great redeemer and time reveals the truth of everything.

I’d never heard of Suella Braverman, the UK’s Attorney General, until I read that she’d been the first out of the block to put her name forward for the Tory leadership. Clearly a conservative in beliefs as well as a Conservative in party affiliation. It would be fascinating were the Tories to end up bypassing the big names and end up, as they did with Thatcher, going for a strong conviction female to lead the party. A politician who just happens to be the daughter of Indian / Mauritian immigrants.

The Media keep on having orgasms over our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern promises the latest being PM scores a major win for New Zealander’s of final day of Australian visit.
Please can we really take her word for this as we have heard her many times make promises that the Prime Minister’s and Government before it has happened quite frequently, remember the housing promises they made on buildings 100,000 in ten years what happened there, then there was light Rail for Auckland and another promise hit the Wall and Aucklanders are still waiting.
The Cycle Bridge that has been on and off for Auckland that has been allotted funds three or four time and then rescinded is another , but what about Meningococcal and Rheumatic Fever that is still costing children their lives that the National Government had made major strides in controlling that Labour and Jacinda Ardern have lost control on and is now a major threat to our young people again.
These were all headlines that they would fix but what has happened it’s been all talk with no substance from our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her Government , so will this headline be any different in 2023 like promised I doubt very much.

I kid you not, NZ “Strategic Reserves” are mostly kept in Europe ( Very obscure to get accurate assessment ? ).

Just watched Newshub Nation with Rebecca Wright interviewing David Seymour. The word harrassing would be a better adjective. She hardly allowed him to finish a sentence let alone listen to his answers. He did shut her down briefly towards the end of this session. TV Interviewers seem to forget that it is the viewer who will make what they can from this. Her highpitched delivery was very hard to take.

Track opens up forest park: Kapiti Observer:
The new track would reduce the journey from Blue Bluff to Otaki Forks to about an hour and was similar, in parts, to the escarpment track near Paekakariki.
There are rough steps, you’re at height, and it’s unstable ground so some sort of ability and skill is required to cross the face.
The track should be open in about a week.

Somewhere to take the older children to burn off some steam in the holidays or a weekend activity.

For 20 years he was a consultant surgeon at Auckland Hospital. He established the undergraduate teaching programme in ophthalmology at the Auckland School of Medicine, is a past President of the Ophthalmological Society of New Zealand, and for eight years was a member of the Opticians’ Board. He served on the board of Southern Cross Healthcare as a Director, Deputy Chair and Chair from 1984 to 2002.

The position in New Zealand is really quite simple.

“Maori” are said to be 16% of the population – but this is entirely incorrect – because, almost without exception, those people who say they are ‘Māori’ have less than 50% Maori genetic background. However, let’s be overly generous here and say that perhaps one eighth of these people have more 50% or more Māori genes in their makeup.

That means that only 2% of our population have the right to call themselves Māori. The other 14% illogically deny the majority of their genetic background. This is simply irrational and could not stand up in a balanced debate.

Why do these people then deny the majority of their genes ? I am 1/4 Scottish, 1/4 English, and say 1/16th French – but I do not call myself French, Scottish or English – I am simply a New Zealand citizen who has one vote, in what until very recently was one of the great democracies in the world – and a country where females were first given the vote.

There can be only one reason for that 14% of the population who dishonestly call themselves Māori in having less than a preponderance of Māori genes – and that is that they wish to part of a society that for some dishonest reason gives them advantages that the vast majority of New Zealanders do not have:
• Their group get special seats in Parliament – where the Royal Commission on Electoral Reform which introduced MMP voting, said should be abolished • Their so called ‘Māori’ businesses and property get privileged Tax and Rates reductions – often they pay NOTHING !
• They get privileged entry to University where in a competitive situation, the % marks gained in entrance examinations are set at an unjust lower level. For instance a set number of people with much less than 50% Māori generic background( as low as 1% if established) can gain entry to Medical School with 70% marks ! – compare this where recently a third generation non-Māori who wanted to follow his Father & Grandfather as a surgeon, was denied entry to the Medical School with marks of not 70% – but in excess of 94% !
• In a disgraceful situation where English is the Offical International Language ( to pilot an aircraft landing in Croatia you can’t talk Croatian, you must speak fluent English) we have unbelievably in NZ 50% ( perhaps more) of school leavers who have inadequate abilities in spoken or written English – and yet this present Government intends laughably to make the teaching of Te Reo Māori, a compulsory subject, and are spending countless $millions of taxpayer money on this project. This is so irresponsible and irrational, but the presently ‘woke’ National Party as the Government’s official ‘opposition’ seemingly does not to ever want to dispute this situation. The only way for people to progress in the world and to benefit NZ is to be able to speak, write, and read English – to a high standard • At this present time this corrupt Government is creating a Health Service where ‘so called’ Māori will get preferential treatment ahead of all other New Zealand citizens. This is immoral, irrational, ‘racist’, and against all the principles of Hippocrates.

And so the list goes on – where so called disadvantaged “Māori” with as little as as 1% of Māori genetic background become one of the most privileged group of people in the world.

How could any average, honest, hard working, New Zealander possibly tolerate a situation, that has neo-Marxist connotations to it. Perhaps this is exactly so, with our Prime Minister previously having been the President of the Marxist Socialist Youth International.

What we have is unacceptable “racist” outrage – where it must be understood that no racist society in the world has ever survived.

  The fact that they do deny their White ancestry–the greater part of their DNA–at once gives the lie to claims of White privilege: if White privilege existed, then everyone would identify as White, because that would allow them to exercise their privilege. Because they don’t, it shows that explicit institutional privileges are available only to Maori and to other minorities. Were Maori subject to oppression, then they would identify as White instead.
  
  To the extent that a race of people settle a land and then found and build a society, I think it is perfectly reasonable and proper for that society to be structured to their benefit at the expense of others. China is structured around the Chinese, Israel is structured around Jews, and America, the UK and New Zealand should rightly be structured around Anglo-Europeans.
  
  That said, in reality, the only “privileges” White people enjoy today concern staying in the background, handing over institutional power, and bending over backwards to please other groups. Wow, some privilege!

  While they may well have talent, it is inconceivable that the many “minorities” (actually a misnomer, because they are global majorities) in the UK parliament aren’t there in large measure due to the institutionalisation of anti-White (i.e. diversity) policies. Another likely factor is that it demonstrates that immigrants will vote for people of their own race, and for that reason alone in many cases. The idea of voting for the best person is not a universal idea, and is mostly prevalent among Europeans. Everyone else is essentially tribal. In a homogenous society, tribalism isn’t really a factor: everyone is of the same tribe, so tribalism falls out of consideration. When societies become multicultural, however, tribalism is brought out, because differences tend to draw attention to similarities amongst others like you. Tribalism is a necessary outcome of diversity, giving the lie to the slogan that it brings strength.

Two tales that illustrate the level of insanity currently governing the Health system.
About a month ago I went to an 80th birthday party. There were about 80 – 90 guests, the vast majority of us in our 70s and 80s, not a mask in sight, vaxxed and unvaxxed, lots of hugging. Two or three days later we found out there were three carriers in our midst. No-one got sick.
Someone close to me is in advanced dementia. Last week he took a turn for the worse, wasn’t eating, too weak to stand and looked close to the end. I called the ambulance. The Ambos first said they couldn’t take him to hospital because the ED was chocka. I said he needed to see a Doctor for assessment so we could get some home help and we could not get him there. They understood the situation, rang the local Hospital and got permission to bring him in.
I followed over and found that, on admission, he had tested positive for Covid. I (unvaxxed) tested negative.
A very good doctor, rolling her eyes at the manifest stupidity of the rule, informed me that, against her better judgement, he had to be transferred to the Covid isolation ward an hour and a half away. She then phoned the city Hospital and told me that the staff there also thought it stupid but it had to be done. This was despite a second, negative test.
We were told he could have no visitors. We were told he would not be released to home care as the house was inadequate by his “Social Worker” who confessed she had neither inspected the home nor even met the patient yet! She did, however, let slip that one family member could visit. One family member immediately took off and, contrary to the wishes of the rest of us and the stated intent of the Hospital staff, managed to get him released and brought him home. So we are back to square one.

The system is in broken and it is not the bug that did it. UK Column News thinks it is deliberate in Britain at least.

Story of the game really. Jordan finally makes a break but gets such a shock, he falls over. Ball gets to a prop who tears up the paddock but support can’t keep up. We can’t lose though. Commentators say we have never lost to Ireland in NZ or to anyone else at F B stadium. Can’t argue with science like that. Maybe journalism science should be taught alongside western science an Māori science?
Good thing Fozzy has these guys really humming. We would get thumped otherwise.

Just watched One News, and there was a story pitching the Maori Party as “king-makers”; holding the balance of power. I can not, for the life of me, see how they draw this conclusion and (needless to say) they didn’t explain it.

Yesterday’s post on the latest Roy Morgan Poll had the following figures:

Party Vote:

Labour 33.5%
National 39.0%
Greens 10.0%
ACT 9.5%
Maori 1.5%

Governments

Labour/Green 56/120
National/ACT 62/120

So, to make up a Government, Labour/Green could muster up 56 seats, compared to National/ACT with 62 seats. Add in the Maori Party’s 2 seats and this gives us a Labour/Green/Maori Government of 58 seats – which is still 4 seats short of National/ACT.

Being a Saturday night, I will admit to having had a few glasses of Pinot Noir, so I may well have made a mistake somewhere. Please, feel free to point out where. But how on earth can One News pitch the Maori Party as king-makers, based on these numbers? I don’t get it.

  At least every time this happens we are closer to getting rid of Foster so we can get some real coaching and some organisation back into the team, and doing the simple things right, like playing players in their positions for starters. Foster is a joke and it shows in every game.
