  14 July 1979 – one of the great test matches at Eden Park, as a rampant French team beat the All Blacks on Bastille Day. It was a magnificent occasion, later celebrated in a short film set to music with slow motion clips.

      The ABs won convincing in Christchurch I think it was 23-9.

      Urban – I’ve seen this noted a number of times though I find it quite ironic as it’s impossible to know for sure either way.
      
      Those who “debunk” the quotes attributed to historical figures (not referring to you personally) can only do so on the basis that there is no actual recording of the person saying the words. On the other hand, there is no way of proving they didn’t.
      Most historical speeches etc weren’t recorded electronically, many not even transcribed. Certainly an aside spoken at the court of Marie Antoinette is no more than the equivalent to Chinese whispers.
      I’m not saying she did or didn’t say it. I’m pointing out that to categorically claim she didn’t is akin to a Reuters “fact checker” saying that something isn’t true.
      The main point of the reference in my opinion is that it reflects the attitudes of the ruling classes at the time so it serves a point. The peasants starved while the 1% partied. The peasants eventually became really really angry. It happens repeatedly through history, and as the saying goes, “those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

  On the matter of the gangs and how to deal with them. Al Capone went to jail and died there not for his gangster activities but for tax evasion.
  NZ tax law is the only area where a citizen has to prove themselves innocent.
  So if the Commissioner sends me an Assessment Notice with X income and Y tax I have to prove its wrong NOT the Commissioner pay up or go to jail.
  So if the Commissioner sent Assessment Notices to the leaders of the gangs using the Accretion method that is estimating the income and expenditure and the tax on the net based on their accumulated wealth over a tax period the gang leaders would either have to pay up prove its wrong or go to jail.
  If nothing else the tax payer would benefit from the additional tax.

    ACT policy. Im surprised Luxon hasn’t claimed it yet! In my early days as an IRD lawyer, the Police would ask us to apply for warrants to raid gang houses because they were constantly being turned away by woke DC judges. The judiciary would NEVER turn down an application from IRD (many of them were involved in problematic race-horse syndicates to get too sniffy), so we would get the warrant and accompany the cops on the early morning raids (the cops were conducting the raids on our behalf, apparently). We’d stand around whilst the AOS charged in, and then we’d be invited in to ‘investigate’ the scene the AOS had cleared ‘on our behalf’. Guns, drugs, and illegal stuff would always be found, along with a few printed bank statements. Cash was always confiscated by the cops, along with all the other stuff. Then it was back to the Police bar for breakfast and a few pints, all before 10am. IRD never took action against the gangs but this wild west approach tended to keep the cops happy and the gangs constantly wondering who’d arrive next!

    Our domestic situation wrt education, economy, healthcare, infrastructure etc is a disgrace, but she cares not.
    Identity politics, cancel culture and celebrity culture are being used as distractions from the real issues, and it is working for her.
    The seams of this subterfuge are now bursting as seen through increasing inflation, housing issues and crime rates.
    Our Media is unwittingly complicit by not reporting what is really happening “on the ground” as they are lost in their own importance, trapped in a funding prison and engrossed in the perceived celebrity of themselves – all by design.

Rugby: accidental head clash results in a player sent off and then suspended for 3 weeks. Spectacle ruined for those watching. The game has become a disgrace.

Rugby league (state of origin decider – as big as any test match): accidental head clash in the first minute. Guy goes off for an hia and they get on with the game. Spectacle saved for the 50k plus people in attendance.

Also refreshing to see a speech at the start by an aboriginal elder, welcoming everyone to the land and describing it. Stark contrast to here where Maori are now literally telling white people to fuck off eg Tamihere. This is a lesson on how to get on, not baiting for a race war.

Sport as always is a good indication of where your country is at…

If Rawiri Waititi thinks that it’s acceptable for an MP to joke about poisoning another MP, he should probably have another think.

Act Party leader David Seymour has taken issue with a joke by Te Pati Māori co-leader Rawiri Waititi about poisoning Seymour with karaka seeds.

During a session at Te Pāti Māori’s annual conference, Waititi talked about his efforts to change some of the Westminster traditions of Parliament and then got distracted by a karaka seedpod necklace scratching his neck.

He told the audience the poisonous seeds were still in it.

“These are karaka berries and they’ve still got the poison in them. So next time I go into Parliament this is what I’m going to do. When David Seymour’s not looking, I’m going to go like this into his water.” He tapped a seed pod over an imaginary glass. “There you are, re-indigenise yourself with some native seeds.”

The manner of delivery was comedic and everybody laughed, including his fellow co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer sitting next to him.

Waititi clearly had a belated awareness his joke might not be universally enjoyed. He added that he hoped it wasn’t being livestreamed, and “if the man carks it, then we know what happened: Debbie poisoned him.”

For those who thinks it’s all a bit of a laugh, imagine how the outrage would flow, for example, had Christopher Luxon joked about poisoning Jacinda Ardern. He would be rightly condemned, because it’s a stupid thing to joke about.

      An excellent, well written rebuttal to Simon Wilson’s posturing. David Seymour is getting serious cut through with his clear, concise opinions both in print and in other media.       That was an excellent and to-the-point response by Seymour to the ‘Dat’s Waaaacist’ opinion piece.
      
      And the comments are overwhelming in the support for Seymour’s assertion around race-based policies and co-governance being toxic and dubious.

        Tell that to my little dog who ate karaka berries and then spent 4 days and $4000 on life support at the vet’s. He recovered but was never the same after that. I believe the pre European Maori used to eat them but not before boiling and straining up to 5 times. And if a poor unfortunate was unlucky enough to ingest some poison which acts like cyanide, they were buried vertically up to their necks to control the convulsions for a few days until they either lived or died.

    It should be the Courts doing so. There have been a string of cases where people have been in Court for making threats against PM Ardern. The longest sentence I am aware of was 12 months imprisonment. The Police should be investigating Waititi and I think charging him. Will they do it?

  Actually that looked like it was totally staged and deliberate. Debbie Ngarewa-Packer sitting next to him followed his actions EXACTLY and in sync. This was planned and rehearsed between the two of them. Watch the video closely, I paused and stepped through it, and it’s not like she was watching him and following, she did exactly what he did. In fact at one point she reaches for her beads and realizes she’s a little ahead of the script so backs up a bit and waits for his cue.

Random musings for an idle winter Thursday:

1). In our small business (approx. 15 staff) 5 were off sick yesterday. 3 were likely bullshitting. I’m in my mid-40s – we were always told to turn up the work (and school) and then told to go home. Now the pea hearts let you know by text.
2). We now have leaking tents outside our hospitals – there is no clearer sign we aren’t first world anymore.
3). I had the misfortune of watching the latest covid-cult rant on the Project last night. Even though the public poll saw the majority favor bringing unvaccinated health workers back the panel couldn’t accept that. I sincerely hope each and every one of them has a personal medical emergency where they experience first hand the stupidity of their beliefs.
4). Eagle copter woke me up at 2am last night. Obviously the human garbage of this country haven’t been listening to Chipkins.
5). What more restrictions will that little nasty squinty-eyed kung-flu minister bring to the table today. You just know she wants us locked down.

Another day, another 20 cents in New Zimbabwe.

    I am not a fan of this current government but I have tried to think this through and have mixed emotions.
    
    The lock-downs have certainly had a negative effect on the NZ economy. But the delays on NZ people being infected by Covid-19 have also meant that people are getting infected by a less virulent version. This might/probably be a unintended benefit but…..
    
    Someone more intelligent than me and more willing to investigate could provide a better answer as to whether the early lock downs were a benefit or a deterrent to NZ.

Yesterday on GD the following comment was made:”I worry about my father ending up in hospital during another lockdown or similar. They wouldn’t think twice about giving him Pfizer tainted blood in a transfusion”.
So my post is dedicated to the author of this comment and the 8 halfwits who upticked it.
Fact: Only 4% of the eligible population in NZ give blood.
Fact: Blood products are required by someone in NZ every 18 minutes.
Fact: Thousands of lives are saved in NZ every year because of these donors.
Fact: Blood donors get very little thanks for their efforts except some chocolate biscuits and the odd free tee shirt.
So if some people on here don’t think this is worthwhile and it is not for them or their family because the blood might be “Pfizer tainted” then be my guest and reject the blood transfusion as blood products are a valuable commodity and to waste them on troglodytes who would prefer to die because they have a bee in their bonnet would be a crying shame.

        A big chunk of the problem is that the usual ‘experts’ are in a panic now. Their views were highly valued and often followed as we know. Then lo, they turned out to have impacts they neither knew about or cared about. Panic stations. Lock everyone down. Again. Hermit kingdom is the only way.
        
        Pity their dramatic health predictions did not flow into preparing the health sector.
        
        I do get that there were many unknowns in the early days, and that as it turned out some of those unknowns were not foreseen by narrowly focused experts. But we have elected representatives whose job is to take a wider view and most of them did not. More like conspiracy theories lalalala.

  I’m uncertain how a potentially legitimate concern about blood contamination, is construed as a disparaging remark about blood donors in general.
  
  One doesn’t have to go back far in history to find people who did die as a result of HIV contaminated blood products (Author Isaac Asimov comes to mind) and blood services the world over were forced to change their vetting and safety protocols.
  
  Rather than ridiculing or ignoring the question, it would be far better to front foot it with research supported education.

  The blood banks do a large number of tests on donated blood to ensure that they are not passing disease or other non compatible antigen (eg Rhesus) onto the recipient. Why should passing SAR-CoV2 spike protein (which is an antigen) onto the recipient be any different especially as the long term effects of this antigen are unknown?
  
  Would you accept HIV positive donated blood?

      Do you understand that HIV and spike proteins are both antigens? Do you understand that the spike protein in SARS-CoV2 is the toxin? Do you understand that the vaccine causes you to produce the spike protein that is similar except for a few amino acid substitutions to make it less recognisable as a foreign protein (ie antigen)?
      
      So with that aside I ask again – “Why should passing SAR-CoV2 spike protein onto the recipient be any different especially as the long term effects of this antigen are unknown?”
      
      And since you have avoided the question with a quite ridiculous comment I’ll ask you “when last did you hear of a Jehovah’s Witness or family member die because of refusing a transfusion?”

  I don’t think people “would prefer to die because they have a bee in their bonnet”. I think there are some who are concerned that, based on what is emerging re the impacts of the Pfizer vaccine, what are the implications of getting a blood transfer.
  I don’t know what they are. I imagine those concerned consider it to be along the lines of getting AIDS tainted blood.
  I don’t know the answer, I can understand the concern though.
  Other than that, I think the blood transfusion service is a critical and integral part of the health system. Hopefully all of these questions are answered over the next few years.

  My point was that embalmers in the US are finding unexpected fibrous clots in the blood of the dead who were vaccinated. Which raises the question of how this occurs.
  I don’t have a problem with blood products in general and am a donor myself. I simply don’t want my father going into hospital when we are unable to visit due to covid restrictions and have him given a blood transfusion of blood which quite possibly in future will be screened out (the way HIV was eventually). My brother and I both have matching blood which we are happy to donate to the blood bank or to family directly.

    Most everything official in South Africa had to be in both English and Afrikaans.
    
    It was admittedly discriminatory to the other 10 or so languages, but most people spoke one or the other and if they were literate could read one or the other.
    
    I belief there are two Khoi-san (Bushman) languages, neither of which is an official language, public services such as radio stations are presented in Afrikaans which is a common tongue for both tribes.
    
    In New Zealand the solution is simple.
    All official communication, signage and ministry naming should be in both Maori and English.

        I do not recall anyone here opposing Maori language signage. However, exclusive Maori language signage, especially where it seems to be some kind of ‘danger’ sign?
        
        There are dozens of countries with two or more official languages. None of them (and I have looked) conduct their societies by ‘mixing’ the two languages together, either in written communication or in media. Because to do so detracts from the purpose of communication – to efficiently convey ideas and messages, often ones that are complex.

        Having a Maori and an English sign makes sense in a country where there are 2 official languages (actually 3 if you include NZ Sign). But to have a Maori and a mixed English/Maori sign 1) Makes no sense what so ever, 2) Obscures the meaning for those who don’t know Maori (often for valid reasons), and 3) Makes the sign meaningless to those who are visiting the country as tourists, the majority of whom have enough English to understand a warning sign.
        I speak 4 languages to various degrees, but you don’t see me using German, Xhosa or Afrikaans in my posts here unless they are well known/common expressions that I would expect anyone with a reasonable education to understand.

        Riffer, I’m pleased you mention multiculturalism, as my wife – mother tongue Cantonese, second language English, third language Chinese – certainly wouldn’t understand that notice. Nor would most of our friends and acquaintances.
        
        This problem would be easily averted were the notice in NZ’s two written languages, one of which they would understand, rather than a hybrid. NZ has a high proportion of residents and citizens born overseas. Pidginising English helps no one.

    I am thinking ‘guardians at work’.
    As in, “staff doing track maintenance”?
    Grammar in Maori is pretty basic, as there aren’t distinct nouns, adjective and verbs, one word suffices for both etc. Patu, Mate, for example. One archaeologist used a specific word to describe it to me long ago, and I can’t recall what that was, but he essentially meant a fairly impoverished language compared to others.
    
    Many government department/service names or technical words made into Maori actually mean little on Google translate or as individual words.
    Like Chinese characters or writing, you need to know the meaning of the elements in context, as by themselves they can mean something different.
    So it meant something to the smart arses who coined the phrase, but to the uninitiated it is borderline gibberish.
    I understand enough Maori (and Mandarin) to guess the meaning of bits and pieces of social conversation or sentences, but the point is – this is POOR communication, and virtue signaling taking precedence over a site safety message.

  I don’t object to people speaking in Maori. I do object to the inappropriate use of Maori language, and it seems to me that using Maori on a sign that starts off with “CAUTION” and then goes on to utterly fail in communicating what it is you need to be cautious of, is inappropriate.

I see that the poor woman who died in her car in St Vincent Ave was actually a Remuera inhabitant who had been evicted from the family home over legal disputes with her brother. All very sad and I’m sure no-one except our own Maggie Pie ( ‘some people will do anything to live in Remmers’) could derive any humour from such a pointless and tragic situation. Even black humour is sour when it comes to situations such as this.

    I was two years in a boarding school (1967-69) and, intrigued at the tales that are legion these days of kiddy-fiddling schoolmasterly types from that era, I surveyed my old mates.
    
    Not one had ever encountered anyone of the ilk.
    
    Our housemaster, long since dead, was a very-prescient man and always took the precaution of doing his dorm visits only after pressing a bell that alerted the three-storied-complex that he was on his way, heh.
    
    My only criticism of him was that he was a TAD harsh with his canings … some of which, I tells thee, I so did NOT deserve!

      I went to a Catholic boarding school for four years.
      We knew some of the priests were drunks. Since confirmed from other sources over the years.
      However.
      I wasn’t aware of any sexual impropriety, but that’s how these people got away with it. Not the sort of people anyone expected to be pedophile.
      A guy I went to school with became a priest and years later was jailed for raping boys. Half the parish thought he was innocent.

I seem to remember back in early 2000’s, having to jump through hoops cashing a cheque from my Australian customer because of the (then) new ‘money laundering’ rules.
These rules also regulated all large cash payments.
Why didn’t these rules prevent drug money buying Harleys, Feraris etcetera as they were designed to?

    This latest raft of laws are a knee jerk reaction. The current laws in regards to money laundering are working; how many mobsters are living Tony Soprano style in the Mcmansions? None. Their lucky to have a Harley and a Ford ranger sitting in the driveway. They already know who every single gang member is and can quickly and easily work out what they own. Make no mistake, once they realize this they will expand the powers to other groups because they’ll have no gang members to go after and won’t want to lose their jobs. As an example, the search and surveillance act 2012 update was put in place to specifically target gangs but now ird uses them whenever they audit someone; they turn up and freeze everything and tell you to prove how you got it, like they do with gang members. A farmer puts in a dodgy gst return and has laws designed to stop gangs used on him to prove his life’s financial transactions. It’s a pity dot com was a fat foreigner because if anyone thinks it’s OK for the police to land a couple of helicopters in your back yard and freeze all your assets and money until you prove how you got it all then don’t complain when they do it to you. Politicians and the moronic public tout these laws as going after gangs but in reality they are using them to control people. Just look at how eftpos and the internet have evolved from convenient shopping and freedom of information to surveillance and control, every dictators wet dream sold to us as something else. Its a pity people see the greens as loonies because on this issue they are right, these laws are an attack on our freedoms. The government should fear the people not the other way round. Won’t be long now and the government will have so much power they will cancel elections, make being an opposition party illegal and confiscate all their assets. Its happening all over the world in 3rd world countries as our leaders look on in envy. And just like 3rd world countries if the government doesn’t pull their heads in they might just see the gangs fight back like they do in Mexico and other 3rd world places. Do we really want to drive round in bullet proof cars because if we don’t tell the government to piss off out of our lives it might just be what we will have to do. There is only so far you can marginalize a group of people because like most animals, once they are cornered they fight back with everything they have.

I’m all for debate and different points of view, but there are some who abuse their chances to be heard and with it their POV lost in the noise.

This group include Jacinda;
The cast of 100s who were paid to spread fear with a pliant media; and

Loise Hutchinson of the Waikato Chapter of the Mongeral Mob. This is a lady who whenever interviewed attempts to paint the gangs with whitewash, and while telling the world that the gangs are not all criminals, she is unable to answer questions about gang criminality or condemn those involved in gang shootings etc.

This morning Toxic interviewed her again,and again it was an unsophisticated dose of verbiage about the gangs being scapegoated and they are just hard done by innocents.

For my part such people insulting our intelligence, only serve to alienate their cause further from main stream society.

Last single covid death was on January 12 ( eleven days prior ) bringing the total number of deaths to 52.
Ardern orders New Zealand moves to the red light setting.

Fast forward to today.
Now there are over 10,000 new cases and over 10 new deaths every day.
The total number of deaths stands at 1674.

With Ardern now saying there’s no need to change the orange light setting, she’s virtually saying all her idiot restrictions in the past, least of which the going to red on January 23, 2022, were totally unnecessary.

  Fair comments, just to point out though, the whole concept of “covid deaths” is a pile of steaming dog poo. They keep changing the definitions of everything from “vaccines” to “cases” to deaths “from/with” It’s deliberate obfuscation.
  
  Not criticising the point your making btw. But to me, the main concern currently is that all cause mortality is alarmingly on the rise and these are not due to covid. This is happening around the world. It’s a combination of harm from vaccines, lack of early access to appropriate diagnosis and/or treatment of other ailments, and the general negative impacts of lockdowns, social distancing and other disastrous policies. These have increased the levels of mental health problems, alcoholism, family violence etc etc. These are all directly attributable to Ardern and her “experts”. People must NEVER forget this.
  
  The cure (that didn’t work) is far, far worse than the disease. This was predicted by people who were ridiculed and vilified. This has been malfeasance on a grand scale.

You have just over a week remaining to make your submission to the Finance and Expenditure Committee on the Water Services Entities Bill (submissions close next Friday 22 July). This pernicious piece of legislation is a major plank in Labour’s drive for an ethnonationalist State. It is anti-democratic and discriminatory and amounts to a confiscation of community-owned assets.

The Bill goes well beyond “partnership” or even “co-governance”, whatever that may mean. It amounts to a hostile takeover where Councils will be legally bound to follow directives in the form of Te Mana O Te Wai statements which only Maori entities can formulate. Given the central importance of access to water services for every community, this legislation is likely to be an enduring source of disharmony throughout New Zealand for years to come. The Labour Party are potentially destabilizing the country in order to satisfy a powerful clique of radical ideologues in their midst.

Both the Taxpayers Union and the NZCPR offer handy templates for submissions if needed. Do it today.

  I’ll tell you this. If the stadium is cancelled not one dollar of the money will be spent on roads, hospitals . . . .

The clown went on to say “people don’t go and buy a car with a briefcase full of cash.” Well, why not? Cash is still the coin of the realm (the legal money of a country ).AFIK?
IMO, this throw-away line is a forerunner to doing away with cash thus making all legal transactions via digital currency and trackable by a Govt who will have the final determination as to whether the transaction complies with their controlling opinions/interests at the time.
Just imagine getting a knock on the door in the middle of the night only to be confronted by a bunch of Digital Spending Police with weapons drawn demanding to know why you tried to purchase a second car.

  You could try to buy a car with cash. The dealer may or may not accept it as payment. They are not legally required to do so.
  
  If the car dealer does accept the payment (assuming it is more than $10,000) they will need to inform the police.

  Was hoping to get to the UK this year for a family visit and possibly get to The Open. But their covid rules are too much for me, not even allowed to stop off in HK for a couple of days.
  I did a straight through flight via Singapore about 10 years ago. From leaving home to landing in the UK, 36 hours. Never again!

  This had been coming since the 2008 financial crisis. It should have tanked then but the inevitable was delayed by copious qe. It’s a ponzi scheme reaching the inevitable conclusion.
  
  Russia has been the go to bad guy too many times. Most people see through that bullshit, but the politicians keep going back to it as a magical get out of jail card.
  The attempt to weaponise the financial system against Russia has backfired dramatically. Rouble at the strongest level in years. Russia is rich in all the important resources. Europe is having to buy their coal and oil through the middlemen so they can rebrand it and pretend they are applying the sanctions and it’s costing a fortune.
  
  It’s looking like the Russians have been well prepared for removal from the Swift system and have contingencies in place. They are recovering from an initial inflationary surge. Ours is just starting.

Could this soon happen in NZ?

A computer science professor at the University of Washington (in the state of Washington) is suing the university, alleging it discriminated against him opposing the university view that Native Americans own the land on which the university is built.

The Wall Street Journal reports:

The university in 2020 included on in a list of best practices for diversity a suggestion that faculty add a “land acknowledgment” to their course syllabi and offered recommended language: “The University of Washington acknowledges the Coast Salish peoples of this land, the land which touches the shared waters of all tribes and bands within the Suquamish, Tulalip and Muckleshoot nations.”

Stuart Reges, a lecturer at the university since 2004, posted near the top of his syllabus for an introductory course over the winter: “I acknowledge that by the labor theory of property the Coast Salish people can claim historical ownership of almost none of the land currently occupied by the University of Washington.”

Reges says that by citing philosopher John Locke’s theory that those who improve upon land own it, the Coast Salish people historically owned nearly none of the campus land.

The Wall Street Journal says an administrator asked Reges to remove the statement, saying in an email that it was “offensive” and created a “toxic environment,” then erased it from his online syllabus. The school also opened alternative class sections at the same time Reges’s course was scheduled, and notified him it would assemble a committee to consider disciplining him for violating a university speech policy.

The policy allows the university to discipline anyone whose speech or conduct it determines to be “unacceptable or inappropriate”.

Reges says he was told in April that his punishment for violating the university’s speech policy, which could include dismissal, a pay cut or suspension

Lawyers from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression are helping Reges with his case, which alleges breach of his First Amendment rights under the US Constitution.

    You might be surprised, but ‘toxic’ is not the type of compound that people choose to use.
    If you are really wondering, then do some research.
    While there are stories about harmful chemical in some blends, some colours are primarily carbon.
    Bear in mind that bacon and sausages also cause cancer due to preservatives/processed meats being carcinogenic.

NZ Nurses Society David Wills appeared on the project and said that Nurses haven’t met their professional obligations and the medical establishment don’t want them back. Mark Richardson is furious with Nurses.

But is this real or is it astroturfing? Have the media done their homework on this commentator?

The Nurses Society of NZ does not appear in the societies, charities or companies register under that name.

The websites “about us” page describes a three pronged structure:
1. Nurses Society of New Zealand Te Kāhui Tapuhi o Aotearoa: delivering services, advocacy, representation, support, advice and related solutions
2. Te Uniana o NSNZ: a registered union arm for collective bargaining
3. NSNZ Recruitment: a global nursing, medical and allied health professional recruitment and placement service

Only Number 2 appears to be registered with the societies register. None are companies or charities.

NSNZ (#2) Has published their financials. They have no income, no expenses and no subscriptions, and no directors. The person who filed the accounts is David Wills.

They claim the industry doesn’t want unvaxxed nurses back but their accounts seem to show they represent no one.

David Wills linkedin only shows that he is a director of the NZ nurses society. He’s got no education or other job history named. Is he medically qualified? What is his background? What is his primary line of work if this company earns no income?

It’s unclear where the recruitment arm of the business is listed or the finances recorded. It’s not a society. It’s not a company. It has many international jobs listed on it’s website particularly for the Caribbean and the USA. Is the company maybe only a caribbean company. Is it a NZ company or registered as an overseas company? Why is he speaking as a NZ spokesperson.

When talking on “The Project” he smears unvaxxed nurses. But it seems his companies primary purpose is international recruitment and that is not declared. Does that influence his opinion on whether NZ should bring in more nurses?

In 2009 he said to the herald “He said the nursing society, which has placed 10,000 nurses in countries such as Britain, the United States and Singapore since 1994”. Really. So under which company name? Business number please?

So it’s ironic that now he’s being quoted as an expert on our nursing shortages when his company is taking nz trained grads and finding them work offshore. Maybe the overseas countries don’t want unvaxxed NZ nurses but I sure do.

It shouldn’t be this hard to find out who these spokespeople are, their qualifications, and what their businesses do. Is it a society, charity or business and what is the link. Because the only one I can find is a $0, 0 subscriptions org.

Big sigh. Newshub article tells us we could hit 21,000 cases/day. Not 20,000, not 22,000, 21,000. This from the experts who told us there’d be 80,000 dead, then 4,000, then who knows what. Suddenly they know down to the nearest 1k how many infections we could get per day.
Then the article goes on about antivirals. They get mentioned 13 times, but not once is a single antiviral named.
Then there’s masks. Some expert tells us that a mask reduces the chances of _catching_ covid by 50% (not a sign of any evidence to back up this mighty claim). Weren’t we all told the masks were all about stopping us from passing it on? If they’re about protecting ourselves, I’d rather exercise my own judgement.
And then we get told we’ll get through winter if ‘we all do our bit’. What, so we’re all going to die if somebody doesn’t do their bit? Give me a break.
I knew I was making a mistake when I opened the article, but I wanted to know if they were going to give any indication of how many more years this idiotic traffic light system was going to continue for.

  Other than seasonality, our infection rate is driven by the proportion of of people ‘vaccinated’. This can be attributed to antigenic fixation/hoskins effect/OAS which is a simple evolutionary process driven by strong immune imprinting as seen in narrow vector, leaky vaccines. Like the ones injected into billions of arms after fraud-filled, inadequate trials.
  
  Our ‘leaders’ know this, but they continue to lie, obfuscate and demonize those of us with the temerity to suggest there is a way to recover from this spiral, and it starts with humility and not doubling down of past foolishness.
  
  Bottom line? The longer we look to mass vaccination and containment theatre as our way out, the worse things will get.

  These 21,000 are AFAIK only people who test positive and upload their results to the relevant website. How many do that? If I tested positive the last thing I would do is tell the Government.

  But no, climate change is not an Auckland problem. Councils in New Zealand that have a ‘climate change strategy’ are deluded. Their job is to provide services, not promote change. They should be modelling the types of services (especially transport services) that people will demand at forecast prices of New Zealand Units in the ETS. And plan for those services.
  
  Councils that try to ‘fix’ climate change by nagging people to change behaviour are simply wasting money. Largely empty buses in Christchurch being a good example.

Just as well the Government is promoting ‘fair work agreements’ and appointing a supermarket commissioner. That will fix things. 🙁

I see ‘climate change’ means we are giving more money to Pacific Islands states. Is there any good objective evidence that PI nations have, or will anytime soon, suffer serious harm from climate change? Is Tuvalu really being swamped by waves and more than it was 30 years ago?

If you look at Kiribati, I would say climate change is the least of their problems.

      I imagine that most journalists are exceedingly proficient at using Google to find facts and figures that support their pre-conceived ideas.
      
      Using Google as a genuine research tool, putting aside their own biases and prejudices, and presenting more than one side of a story … perhaps not so much.

    Even if that were true, it would be cheaper to relocate the folk that live there than to spend trillions of dollars to stop the sea level rise.

Did anyone see the pro-mask wearing fear porn piece on TV1 “news” tonight. Ayesha Verrall, Michael Baker (the creepy little thunderbird man) and some wanker from Age Concern all telling us that we should wear masks to protect the vulnerable – if masks are so effective surely the vulnerable would be safe just wearing their own…? Anyway…..just as the story was closing out they cut to David Seymour at the rostrum at the Act Party conference and then some members of the audience wearing masks. What was that about? There was no verbal reference to the Act Party or David Seymour (or the Nats for that matter) AT ALL through the clip. At best it was gratuitous, and at worst it was carefully selected and politically manipulative. I know what my money is on.

    Dr Fauci has had covid-19 once.
    Neither he nor any orthodox authority on the subject will claim that the vaccine gives 100% protection from catching the virus.
    What they do say is it offers protection from the worst of the effects.
    As it happens he is 81yo and experienced mild symptoms.
    BTW
    No vaccine is 100% guaranteed to prevent you from contracting the particular desease.
