      Any respect I ever had for them (barely registering on the respect scale, I admit) went out the window when Material Turei proudly admitted to stealing from the taxpayer and lying to the electoral commission so she could vote where she wanted to.
      
      Shortly afterwards, the only two remaining Greens MPs with a shred of conscience resigned in protest, for which they should rightly be commended.

      That would put Labour in the mid 30s

        The endless ‘climate change’ items in the media means the Greens are, by association, in the media without having to use their own funds.
        At present Labour are having to concentrate on the economy and racial equity.

        My pick is that come the next election (if we’re allowed to have one) we will see the emergence of a breakaway movement from the Greens called the ‘Teals’ just as happened in Aust’s last election. The Teals are a bunch of ‘not quite Blue Rincers who spend much of their time and Husband’s/Toyboy’s money slurping Latte and Champers in their local Pub’s Lounge Bar and have an opinion on everything which intensifies and gets louder as they get pissed and eventually, they sign up to or form a Political Party.
        I think Jeanette Fitzsimons and/or Sue Bradford may well come out of retirement (from under their rocks) and lead this Teal Lookalike Party.

    I believe this has all been planned. The recent change of the rules that mean the ‘balance’ of the greens changes from male and female leaders to woman & Maori was the setup. They have kept the useless Marama Davidson to cover the Maori and woman aspect allowing them to select whoever they want. If they had a Transsexual they would select that person but I’m pretty sure they are about to have a second woman.

  Yes it’s hard to believe that about 10% actually vote for these nutters. The only person that I think could beat Jimmy in a leadership challenge is Chloe (surely the Mexican couldn’t?). They’ve already cleared the way for Chloe by changing the rules and allowing two female joint leaders. Someone must be pushing Chloe forward but I’m not sure if she is ready or wants to lead them yet.

      A minor party co-leader gets paid the same salary as a Party Leader by Parliamentary Services, which is lot more than a deputy leader gets. Because the Greens have a tithing system in which they donate a portion of their salary to the party, this is an indirect way of funding the Green Party at the tax-payers expensive.

      They are also a fail for the Party’s need to represent diversity across the broader spectrum.

  His response seems to indicate that he knew this was possible and has given the matter some thought. It seems he will not be bothered fighting for re-election if he considers the numbers are stacked against him. He is most probably financially secure and so would not be financially dependent on remaining a MP. His chances of finding a decent job after Parliament would be very good. He has much goodwill even outside the Greens. He is a list MP so if he leaves Parliament the next Green candidate would get into Parliament.

  As to Shaw, while he may be a “moderating voice” , my view is that he’s simply a wee bit less mad than most of them.

Masks in Schools Strongly Recommended

So the government is strongly recommending masks be worn by all students for the first 4 weeks of term 3. The reason this is necessary, well teacher sick leave has been 50% higher this year than in 2021.

What a shameful use of statistics to drive an agenda!

No mention that the rules created around Covid, minimum 7 day isolation period, actually artificially inflate absenteeism. We have all experienced this directly or indirectly, where for many Covid has been a very mild illness and normal activity could have been resumed after 2 or 3 days. In my workplace this has resulted in weeks of additional absenteeism over previous years, more than the 50% observed in teachers.

So why are they targeting this at schools and not society at large? Mass conditioning of young minds? Power and social structures making for a higher compliance rate? The majority female workforce more impacted by emotional factors such as fear, protection of the vulnerable etc? Young people powerless to oppose?

And when they say it’s just for 4 weeks, who really believes them? So while the majority of NZers go about life free of masks, our most vulnerable, our children, continue to be subjected to the military grade psychological trauma of mask wearing. Aren’t you proud to live in such a country?

  My kids school has had compulsory masks the who time. Almost every week last term they were closed (work from home) at least 1 day. Most weeks it was school for 2 days. Masks did fk all.
  
  I think teachers having the sniffles so staying home screws it up anyway.

  Other factors not referenced that have increased sick leave:
  – sick leave entitlement doubled, from 5 days to 10 days
  – people staying away from work with the slightest sniffle, whether illness or hay fever
  – people who don’t want to be at work exploiting the new rules as much as they can, probably about 2% of my workforce
  
  But surprisingly none of these factored into the Government’s analysis nor the Legacy media’s reporting.

      Not quite – must have worked 10 hours per week on average, at least 1 hour per week and continuously employed for 6 months (which is the same rule for all employees).
      
      Then yes, they are entitled to 10 days sick leave.

      Maybe, but sick leave can only be taken on the days you are actually scheduled to work. If someone claims sick leave every work day for ten weeks that person would likely get a formal disciplinary hearing well before the ten weeks were over.

    You will find that Covid absence does not count as sick leave for teachers. They can stay at home as often as they want, and it does not count against sick leave entitlements.
    
    If it is confirmed that you have COVID you cannot return to school for the isolation period. This is treated as paid, disregarded sick leave under STCA 6.2.7 (a) (iii) and the ASTCA 5.1.6 (a) (iii).

  Mask exemptions for kids are readily available and easy to get. I called MOH as soon as I saw the announcement and got the necessary exemptions within five minutes. I then asked my kid, do you want to wear a mask next term: NO. That’s ok, I got you an exemption: GOOD. That was the end of the conversation.

    Jer Jer that is an approach. However I’m generally opposed to carrying and showing papers, as it still gives the Mask Stasi power.
    
    The other approach is you teach your kids to be able to say “I’m exempt” , “no I am not required to show you a mask exemption”, “ no I will not tell you why I have a mask exemption, that is my private medical information”, “if you have any more questions please call my parents.”
    
    There is also a need at times to send schools the MOE Bulletins for School Leaders which outlines the rules around questioning mask exemptions. The February edition is excellent as it cautions school leaders on not overstepping.
    
    I agree this is tougher on my children than yours, but real proud of the backbones they have shown through this!

    Well, here is my hypothesis. Generally the number of deaths on any given day are higher than the number in intensive care. The average stay in intensive care must be 10 days minimum (sometimes MUCH longer). So 90% or more of those that died did not get to ICU. Either we are way short of ICU capacity, or 90% of those dying were judged not suitable for ICU care.

It seems as far as LGNZ is concerned Treaty matters are settled, Maori are in a partnership with Government and we should discuss that or more importantly call complete bs on the partnership line run by our ruling elites in the Government Bureaucracy, the judiciary and Academia (of course supported and enabled by what was formerly an independent 4th estate in the Media)

The ToW is not a partnership agreement – it is an acknowledgement of the Sovereignty of the British Crown in this country. A minority opinion by one Judge in a case does not a partnership agreement make….

This approach of forcing compliance from the top is going to lead to bloodshed in the extreme outcome or mass de-population of the country by those who can think and do guaranteeing NZ turns into a 3rd world hell hole.

Meanwhile, since the Trust sold the land in 2017, New Zealand has changed. What a difference five years and a pandemic make. Aotearoa has come into common usage as the rightful name of this country. RNZ and TVNZ both routinely use the Māori names of cities. Ashley Bloomfield brought the word motu into our living rooms. Record numbers of Aotearoans have learnt or are learning te reo. From the beginning of next year, the country’s history, including war and land grabs, will be taught in our schools. The film Whina, on the 1975 land march of Whina Cooper and Te Rōpū Matakite (Those with foresight), is alerting a new generation to the colonists’ cruel and illegal seizure of Māori whenua.

All this adds up to Aotearoa becoming a country where the history, culture, customs and land rights of Māori are honoured, right? Wrong.
Forty-seven years after the Land March, 44 years after the occupations of the Raglan golf course and Bastion Point, two years after Ihumātao, there is still Shelly Bay/Marukaikuru, still the tired old attempts to downplay the centuries-long occupation of the place by Māori, and the continued and wilful ignorance of history. This includes, for example, that around 100 Taranaki men, inspired by Parihaka’s Te Whiti and arrested for trying to protect their tribal land, were forced to labour in the construction of defence installations. They built a large section of the road, and that those who died are buried there, their spirits permeating the land. There is still the tokenism, with the developer said to be offering a site for a marae. Still the refusal to hear alternative plans, including the proposal of Te Whataitai Design Collective for a heritage park centred on Shelly Bay, with restoration of historic buildings, a centre for iwi history and reforestation with native trees – a place of national pride in one of the capital city’s most glorious landscapes.
Is it time for the Government and the council to buy back this land and use it to benefit all the people of Te Whanganui-a-Tara – and Aotearoa?

  The best thing the government should have done back in March 2020 was nothing. Nothing at all.
  
  Only one virus has ever been eradicated and that took almost 200 years after we knew how to cure it.
  
  But the hubris of the government and all those cheered her on have got us to the current position – doubled the national debt and no better off. It’s also clear the so-called vaccines don’t work and not even reduce illness over time.

        Fair enough, the West Coast District Council is, along with other councils, re-writing their district plans and seeking “consultation”. But part of the plan has been imposed without consultation, and that part is putting large areas of land as areas of significance to Maori, meaning you cannot develop them, cannot build on them, cannot do anything with them as a result (in the same way as if they were of heritage or historic significance). As I say, there’s no debate on this, you cannot object – it’s just been implemented.
        
        It’s happening around the country, not just the West Coast.

  My hand is up. But the “happening” is not recent – it started with Doug Graham, from National, and is applauded by luminaries such as Chris Finlayson, and now Chris “te reo” Luxon.
  
  This started 25 years ago. It was a slow creep until the Ardern government came into power in 2017. What is happening on the West Coast is symptmatic of local bodies, and every other body to be fair, having to have regard for mana whenua, te Tiriti and the principles of te Titiri. You’ll note the plan doesn’t even have an English name.
  
  Owen McShane, bless his soul, coined the phrase of Cultural Marxism about 25 years ago. He was spot on. I fear it is so embed now so as to be impossible to overturn.
  
  My profession, the legal profession, is looking at introducing the same thing through its professional rules, where all lawyers must have mandatory te Tiriti and te Reo training every year and the working group put together by our previous Social Justice Warrior, Tiana Epati, has on it a law professor whose specialist area of research is “Decolonisation”. Another member is a high ranking official from Ngai Tahu. They want to introduce into legislation that governs lawyers, as a purpose of the Act, te Tiriti and the principles of the Treaty. As a commercial/banking/finance lawyer, I shall be obliged to consider that when giving advice.

    I have put in a response to the discussion paper about the future law society.
    On the subject of the Treaty, I have pointed out that this country is now multicultural and definitely not bi-cultural. I doubt that will earn me brownie points from the NZLS.
    Incidentaly I favour complete separation of regulatory from representation which should have been the case right from the get go in 2006 when the current act was put in place.

  When Buller and Heaphy did their exploratory trek along the West Coast in 1846, they kept a detailed record of all Maori (both those they encountered and those unsighted that they were told about by other Maori. There were a grand total of 90 Maori on the whole west coast.

Auckland motorway protest
More than 1000 people marched in the protest, organised by a group associated with Destiny Church.
Police say they are identifying offenders who walked onto the motorway and committed some driving offences.
Some motorcyclists were riding without helmets, while children were seen riding in the back of utes.
Auckland Central Area Commander Inspector Graeme Anderson said officers have not yet arrested, charged, or summonsed anyone and he would not say how long the process will take.

Easy peasy… it’s the new accounting:

Step one: Add your new price integers

$5.49 = 5 +4 + 9 = 18

Step 2: subtract larger integer from the smaller:
8-1 = 7… and call it approx inflation % 7%

Step 3: To calculate accurate inflation of chelsea buns…. eat one and count those remaining (3)….

Hence cost of living increase of pack of chelsea buns is 7.3%.

I was gobsmacked by Foon. Issuing guidance to prospective LG candidates that is plainly political and having no idea what he’s even done. Laws was kind, but you can hear his astonishment in the tone of his voice. I really fear for our future.

Big sigh. TVNZ news tells me that a potential ‘fix’ for the disgrace that is 3 Waters would be to make it _2_ Waters.
No mention of the bit that most people probably have the biggest problem with – that it pretty much hands control of water to Maori, whether we like it or not (we don’t).
IOW, it’s fricken racist.
Nanaia argues that water services in NZ are in dire straits and ‘something needs to be done’. Maybe she’s right in some cases. Where she goes horribly wrong is making the massive leap that because ‘something needs to be done’ in some places, Maori need to have control of it all. There are many other options we could take before we go to full-on race-based idiocy.
If The Treaty really does indicate that Maori are partners with the rest of us (it doesn’t), that might be the best reason yet for tossing it in the bin – NZ should not be a place divided by race.

  Agree. The it argument is “it’s needs fixed”. But they’ve never been able to answer a very simple question “so where does co-governance come in?”
