Some have suggested it is homophobic to note that men who have sex with men are the group at highest risk.

A new research paper on 528 monkeypox cases in 16 countries lays out that 98% of the people infected were gay or bisexual men, 75% of them were white, and 41% had HIV. No women were among the cases, and 95% of cases were thought to be linked to sexual transmission.

  Which would make it the second illness in the last 40 years to spread like that.
  We developed drugs to deal with HIV but I can’t help wondering if similar diseases broke out in earlier times and provided the foundation for the prohibitions on men having sex with men in various cultures. Back then, abstinence would have been the only option.

      As are the languages – both Semitic. If you speak Arabic then you have quite a lot in common with Hebrew (written alphabets apart] vocabulary and grammar..
      
      And mindset.
      
      I lived in various MENA countries for a total of 14 years, during which I got along OK in Gulf Arabic.
      
      When I subsequently worked for an Israeli company based in Tel Aviv, I was surprised by the similarity in language [many words are the same/similar] and mindset.
      
      Except that the Israelis [especially those of eastern Europe origin] were to me, much more direct in language and approach – like New Yorkers.
      
      As a US Southerner I preferred the Arabs in that respect – altho I made good friends in both cultures.
      
      PS the alphabets are interesting – both have a similar structure in some respects; but written cursive Arabic is reminiscent of an insect having inadvertently dipped its legs in ink and then scrawling its way across the page, right to left – whereas Hebrew is cuneiform, more suitable to the writer inscribing his tool (as it were) into a clay tablet.
      
      Which do I prefer? Well, as a kid who was taught to read music I prefer, when I squint, the Arabic script.

        Homosexuality is statistically much more promiscuous, as open sexual relationships is a culture of that sexuality. Even gay researchers and writers assume this. That is why HIV spread like wildfire through that sexual community especially at first and became the ‘gay disease.’

        Male prostitutes, or female prostitutes? We shouldn’t shy away from observing that gay sex is clearly inherently unhygienic for obvious reasons, and on top of that, it is well known that AIDS and now Monkeypox are primarily “gay” diseases, that, where they do make it into the “heterosexual community,” it is through bisexual men (who are fundamentally gay) having sex with women. We can argue as to the rights and wrongs of gay sex on moral and teleological grounds, but the diseases which seem to surround and spread by way of the activity give a strong argument based in biology and pathology as to how wrong it is.

      OK, what we really need to do is look for the common thread: What is common between Africans and homosexual westerners?
      
      I think it comes down to one common factor: in general, both are highly promiscuous.
      
      NB: I say, in general. Like all things of a statistical nature this is a generalisation.
      
      I am not gay, or a member of the “gay community”, but I do have some gay friends. Except for one, they are all highly promiscuous. For example, when one was a medical student, he would study while his regular partner (they were living together) would often go out trawling pubs and bring home a friend or two and they’d have a group session. That was common – every week or two. He considered it a highly efficient arrangement – he could get study time in and still have his raunchy sex life.
      
      Sub-Saharan Africa is also highly promiscuous and it is very common for men to have more than one wife. When he dies, the wives are then inherited by the brothers. This makes HIV travel fast.
      
      Further, due to men having more than one wife, there is a shortage of women for the other men (who are generally younger and more sexed up). What do they do: they engage in prostitutes and homosexuality. Homosexuality is frowned upon in polite society and is illegal in many places, but is rife so long as the corrupt law does not find out. If a cop does find out well, he’s generally going to trade that for some free sex anyway. Condoms are disliked.
      
      Thus Sub-Saharan Africa is a place that is perfect for HIV. A truck driver travelling from Nigeria to South Africa might have condom-free sex every night ad a different town with a different prostitute, then get home to his 4 wives – infecting them too. When he dies, his previously clean brother now inherits the 4 infected wives and soon is infected himself and passes it on to the 4 wives he already has who were previously clean.

    The logic and evidence for the general lockdowns was far weaker than the logic and evidence for locking down gay men on account of monkeypox. But because both issues are primarily political, gay men will not have to make any sacrifices “to keep granny safe.” Doesn’t this inconsistency perfectly expose the farce that we have been living through?

  The article does not state that 95 percent of cases were a result of sexual transmission. It refers to sexual “activity”. Because sexual activity is usually about skin to skin contact.
  
  AFAIK the only way to catch this disease is skin to skin contact. That is the exact opposite of HIV which is impossible to contract from skin to skin contact.

Most Media outlets have used the Greens Leader ship battle to take the spotlight off Labour , there Leader and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern instead of pulling apart the gapping holes in the Three Waters Policy that Labour are hell bent on pushing through when 70% of our population are against it.

        I suggest it angers you because you know it is too close to the truth.
        
        Over the past 2 years the country has been irreversibly changed to something that does not in the slightest represent the country I grew up in. There is out-of-control crime, welfare dependency and Maorification of everything in our society. This is coupled with a rapidly collapsing economy and flight of people out of the country. That sounds like Zimbabwe.
        
        Then don’t get me started on the demented covid cult mentality that still infects 25% odd of the population.
        
        My 2 children, 13 and 11 respectively will have to pay for this – if by the time they reach their mid-20s they haven’t left for another first world country.

        Late reply. – Embryologically the development of sexual organs are influenced by the male or female hormone dominance. So too with physical development of the body – muscle and skeletal, etc. Both those actresses are XY ie male but have had everything develop under female hormone influence. They have internal testes (subsequently removed because of cancer risk), not ovaries and are sterile. They also have female genitalia so to all appearances are women, but have male chromosomes! Their names are well know as are their syndromes so I’ll identify them – Nicole Kidman and Jamie-Lee Curtis.
        
        There are plenty of other kinds of chromosomal mosaics that result in intersexes or misgenderisation at birth. These are real, not extreme. But they do not include cross-dressers/trannies.

It would appear that Dr Elizabeth Kerekere has been busy behind the scenes, which may explain her announcement yesterday that she was considering going up against James Shaw. It would appear that Dr Kerekere was instrumental in the rule change which dropped the requirement for the Greens to have a co-leader with a penis.

Shortly after Peter’s retirement was announced on a Monday after nothing being said by him on the Friday show. Wow! How Insane Is New Zealand? I Just Got A Two Year Trespass For Nothing!

Folks, I have been Trespassed for 2yrs from Eastgate mall, our local mall and stores, by manager L. Ledger for Literally NOTHING! I was part of a group thrown out of the mall a couple of months ago while we were sitting having coffee doing, again NOTHING. Police threw us out under the THREAT of Tresspass… This was all around the management reaction to having people there who were part of Protests and freedom rallies in CHCH. Again, NO Crime or Disturbance of anything committed! What on earth? How insane have things got here in New Zealand! Two-year ban from local ‘bread and butter’ stores for NOTHING! Wow! I have been in touch with Colliers International who manage this mall and was told they will look into it in the next couple of days and get back to me. I will keep you posted. Warm regards Carl. [You can write to the owner, or mall manager asking them why they did this. No more Eastgate mall for me.

At the supermarket I stood behind an overweight person of Polynesian origin dressed in a new hoodie track suit arrangement. The trolly had all the “necessities” Huge pack of toilet paper, 3 dozen beers, 3 large bottles of Fanta, 1 large bottle of pretend fruit juice, pack of 4 cream donuts, packet of cat biscuits and 3 packets of human biscuits. Bought cigarettes or something that required blue paper and/or white paper. All totalled $181 I muttered to the checkout girl about food purchases and she said they do all that shopping on their benefit card. Thought about it on the way home. Of course they then go to the kind folks to get the food bags. Really got it sorted.

I had the misfortune to catch Marcus Lush late last night. Why he ever got another award is beyond me. The man is trash.
Anyway some woman rang in about the fact that the select committee wasn’t taking email submissions on 3 waters. Immediately Lush was in an accusatory mode – how do you know etc. When she talked about the Taxpayers Union he must have a bee in his bonnet about them as it was then into we don’t know who funds them and again you can’t believe what you read on line. She explained about the photo which he completely discounted and then disconnected her.

Horrible man. Hardly anyone ever rings and he is usually rude to and cuts off he doesn’t agree with.

        This needs a big picture approach – it’s not a matter to be dealt with in isolation. We need security of supply, either internally or, if external, along with the ability to keep sea lanes open and so on. This government has abandoned self sufficiency, allowed the Navy to degrade, threatens hydro via its 3 Waters madness etc. no plan and no ability to plan. If subsidies are part of the solution then yes, Labour has subsidised less worthy projects.

        Yes NZ Light Sweet crude can not be processed in NZ. That is not my point. The same reason is NZ coal is exported due to higher prices can not be burned here.
        
        While we are at it, Have a look at Marine Traffic and see how many Product Tankers are coming into NZ.

        Previously the value-adding occurred onshore and generated a profit for the (foreign) oil companies who ran the refinery for NZ Refining.
        
        Why would the oil companies who ran the refinery accept less profit from locally refined petrol than what they could get from importing finished product?

        importing crude in tankers, petrol/diesel in tankers. What’s the diff sea lane wise?

  Another problem with “Experts” is they tend to focus on only one side of the equation of which the Journalism is trying to portray.
  
  At least how I see it.

      New Ministers can change the funding and the required outcomes. Incumbents can see out their contracts or resign. But they will be under a lot more scrutiny of their performance. Some appointees will be OK, even good, and be successful under a different regime. Others not so much, the phrase ‘we’re from the government and we’re here to help’ will not be popular with the well paid senior appointees.
      
      Not the fault of the appointees but if they have a few smarts they will be aware of possible future scenarios from the outset.

Ian McKelvie and David Bennett to retire from politics in 2023. That opens up two electorates, Rangitikei and Hamilton East, for candidate selections. Rangitikei will be an especially competitive race given its history as a safe National seat and it should attract an excellent field of candidates.

The company announced the results of their Covid policy review yesterday and I think it was a good balance overall.
Mask wearing has been reduced to very specific conditions only, daily RAT testing down to once a week and vaccine mandates for existing staff dropped but kept for new staff starting.
They managed to get rid of 5 people under the old rules which was a big win for everyone as the individuals involved were were very disruptive and low performing due to the various axes they had to grind over the policies so it was good to see the back of them.
Keeping these basic rules in place should stop more of that sort filtering back in.
Another observation as well.
From my experience militant non mask wearers and bad breath seem to have a direct correlation.
Maybe el gato malo or Guy Hatchard could write a piece on it.

The craziness of woke censorship seems to break new records every week, as their fight to control others’ speech grows. But I don’t think we’ve ever taken on a case this mad.

A member of the Free Speech Union reached out last week saying that they were worried about their job security after an incident at work when they were challenged for misgendering a patient… the peculiar thing about this case was that the client was already deceased.

While doing their work as a mortician, they referred to a client (who biologically was a certain sex) by that gender. The mortician was promptly told that while the individual had been living, they had identified as a different gender and that it was offensive and ‘harmful’ to not respect their wishes.

I went to meet with the HR department of the medical practice. They were taken aback that this mortician shockingly believed that gender is not a social construct and that employers couldn’t compel staff to refer to ‘clients’ (remember, we’re talking about a mortician!) by different pronouns. They struggled to explain exactly what ‘harm’ was being caused through this egregious offense.

Increasingly, we work on cases where employers don’t challenge the employee’s right to speak directly, but just talk about codes of conduct, competent care, cultural awareness etc. In the end though, it usually amounts to forcing an employee to take a particular stance on an issue.

A Pennsylvania man named Mark Aungst who was set to be sentenced over his presence in the Capitol on January 6th has committed suicide. He was 47-years-old and leaves behind a daughter and other family members.

Aungst pleaded guilty June 27 in District of Columbia federal court to a charge of demonstrating or parading in a restricted building. [He] neither assaulted a police officer nor stole or damaged government property, the prosecutor had said at a previous court proceeding.

But despite his request for a community service penalty the government wanted jail time; they wanted blood. They got it. He’s the third such suicide now.

Incidentally the charges he pled guilty too are the same ones that Colbert’s crew were arrested for but the DOJ refused to charge them. Even the Capitol Police objected to that blatant double standard.

It’s good to be a Democrat when you break the law, but do they really think they can just keep pushing a two-tier legal system forever against their political opponents?

  Yes I have been watching that trend for a couple of months. It will continue if a persistent gap opens between New Zealand and Australian inflation rates.
  
  The thing that worries me is that come Q4 2023 an incoming National Government (and a repaired RBNZ with a new Governor) will need to take drastic action to get the country back on track. The pain will make them unpopular. Three years, or best case six years later, we get another socialist government.

Next time someone says to you that the Labour Government doesn’t have enough money to spend and needs to either bring in new taxes or raise existing ones – you’ve got to ask yourself whether the person is 1. a thoroughly bad person who is happy to take money from the mouths of struggling NZ families to just waste or 2. thoroughly ignorant of the world around them and is happy to make comments on things they know nothing about.

As for certain lefty NZ politicians who try to convince us ‘tax is love’ and who may in fact believe that – well in that case you must conclude they are either genuinely evil or certifiably insane.

    No doubt given the amped-up histrionics of the Maori radical’s previous speech on the oppression and victimhood experienced by Maori, someone calmly (tacitly) pointing out that Maori gangs are the principal root of the gun crime issue caused was devastating to the fantasies espoused by Sam Orbell and those swept up in his ideological fervor.
    
    Fisken seems like a sensible and, very importantly, principled young guy, who stuck to his guns (pun intended) and was completely unapologetic about his views.
    
    Contrast him with the aforementioned Maori radical, and it is clearly Fisken who is the brave dissenter stepping out on a limb on strongly-held principles and at the risk of blowback, versus the establishment-sanctioned faux rebelliousness of the Maori poser.

I unfortunately had to spend a day in hospital (2am to 6 pm) during which I spend time in ED, a ward and in theatre/recovery.

It was interesting being able to chat to some of the staff and get a feeling for boots on the ground situation with nurses etc. It was also interesting to see how parts of the hospital are managed.

At 2am, the ED was functioning fine though it had been busy on Saturday. I was seen within half an hour. Good. Some equipment that was broken last time I was there (8 weeks or so ago) were still not repaired, but still the place seemed to be function well.

A few hours later I was sent up to a ward. This ward has a staff of over 40 nurses. This is a highly specialised ward, so generally nurses stay there for a long time (10+ years being common) as it takes a year or so on the ward to become proficient. But the last year or so things have gone crazy:
* Out of the 40-odd nurses, around 20 have left in the last year and have been replaced with junior staff. For a highly stable staff body to suddenly experience 50% turnover (and the rest muttering about leaving soon), things ware way out of control.
* These are mainly the more experienced staff, so there is more pressure on fewer senior staff having to supervise and mentor junior replacement staff.
* Most seriously, the auxillary staff have been severely reduced: orderlies, nurse aides etc. This increases the workload on already overworked nurses (bed making, answering phones etc).

What I soon realised is that everything is managed for show.

When they making funding cuts, they don’t want to be seen to be those nasty people that fired nurses. The public likes nurses. But auxiliary staff? Nobody cares about them. Get rid of them. Dollar saved and nursing numbers kept up! Job done!

But what is kept out of the public eye is that they have got rid of those auxillary workers, so nurses have to do that work, so nursing numbers have really gone down. Every bed that was made by a nurses aid is now made by a nurse.

Even auxiliary workers are leaving. One of the orderlies I spoke with is leaving NZ for a job in Oz in a few days.

I see that “public face” management elsewhere too. For example mask wearing. In the areas of the hospital that are often seen by the public (eg. ED and wards), the staff are all in N95 masks – the good stuff. But down in the bowels of the building – eg. in the operating theatres – everyone is wearing those blue and white surgical masks which do nothing for CV19.

Perhaps that makes sense – only hospital staff who are tested daily are walking around those areas so there is lower risk, but it did look a bit like image management to me.

I think this is a problem with our institutions now being managed for show rather than function. What matters is making nice pie charts and PowerPoints – that’s far more important than delivering an effective system.

Nothing the current government does surprises me any more; they have manipulated the select committee process with much regularity over the last couple of years.

The final total of submissions on Three Waters isn’t yet known, but it will be in excess of 85,000. The final total for the Taxpayers’ Union was somewhere in the region of 68,600, there were more than 15,000 lodged through the National Party website, plus those submissions lodged directly with Parliament. If the Government does use its majority on the Finance and Expenditure Committee to refuse to hear submissions in person, there will be considerable anger from those who took the time to submit, many of whom, like me, were doing so for the first time.

Firth Primary School in Matamata has only one road frontage and that is Station Road. Staff said that children would be kept safe, but nowhere does it say that children will be kept safe from idiotic teachers.
  Firth Primary School opened in about 1968 and is about 200 metres from what was Count Rendered’s paddock. Old time racing aficionados will remember Count Rendered.

It’s a game to these people as the consequences are next to nothing.

  Nobody’s standing over them and forcing them to wear the jerseys.
  In the good old days gladiators were forced to fight to the death. They had no choice in the matter.
  SBW refused to wear a Blues jersey with a small bank advertisement, so one was produced with the Plunket Society logo instead.
  In his case the franchise let it slide and clearly big bank wasn’t too fussed.

    Mcos – those players will face a lot of pressure from their employees and they may be in breach of contract by making themselves unavailable as they are paid professional players. So yeah there is coercion in play here…
    
    Sports teams should not use players contracted to play, and probably to do promos for sponsors as written in their contracts, into promoting social causes against players wills or more importantly against players values or religious beliefs.
    
    If Manly want to support gay pride they have a simple option – get a former player in Ian Roberts to do promotion work in a Manly jersey. Roberts came out as gay while still an NRL player many years ago iirc… No need to cause friction inside the playing group in this manner

      As a general rule of contract law, any contract, including an employment contract, which seeks to restrict or bar recourse by a contracting party to legal rights under the law is unenforceable.
      
      An example is an employment contract which bars a worker’s recourse to workers’ compensation under relevant legislation.
      
      How this rule applies to NSW in the rugby situation depends on NSW/Fed law, of course. Which I can’t comment on.

When the mob occupied parliament grounds in NZ one section produced a list of people they wished to see executed.
In Myanmar four people who demonstrated against the military junta were executed yesterday with another 100+ already condemned to death after sham trials without legal representation.
Some people on this forum like to compare us to these tyrannical states where executions, murders and disappearances are a reality not a laughable threat by a bunch of wild eyed fools.

Does anyone recall the PM’s BFF, Jessica Mooch McKay, writing any articles about the PM disappearing for days on end, spending five days in Australia for a small number meetings, why the wedding is off, Three Waters, Co-Governance, refusing to answer Australian media question in Fiji, rising inflation, child poverty, crime, gang activity or is it only a focus on where Luxon holidays. No wonder the so call MSM papers are getting smaller than the giveaway local papers.

  The biggest joke of the lot was the bag of wind Robertson spluttering through mask trying to tell us it was criminal Luxon say Ming he was in a certain place on a certain day when he wasn’t, what a piece of work Robertson is, Luxon never said what day it was, in the pre recorded vid he said today, it was not dated, it was a re release of his visit that was on his page the week before, FgS it was the same visit the week before they tried to smear him for not wearing a mask in that same photo, what the rotten left have forgotten, it is not compulsory to wear a mask on a work place

Made an effort to watch the first segment of One Woke News for the first time in years (won’t be watching the rest of it that’s for sure).

With “Cindy’s bitch” Jessica (of Jessica and Tova fame) trumpeting they were the news outlet to break the story on Chris Luxon’ social media post when he was holidaying in Hawaii last week a couple of things struck me as it was plain to see in the reporting:

*Another Grant Robbertson hit job, feeding Labour’s favorite press gallery journos on the story, witness Robbo’s glee and use of the word “misleading” to describe Luxon (talk about hypocrisy, coming from him, as he himself constantly misleads the nation on the state of economic damage his policies has inflicted on NZ).

*Because Labour are also playing up the jealousy factor – holidaying in Hawaii – as in where John Key used to – as in it’s for the rich, especially in winter etc.

*As Luxon said (on radio reporting) the MSM knew his diary and that he was away last week (and was in Te Puki a few days earlier). So why is it an issue now? Because “Labour/Robbo” and lazy reporting by the MSM when there are other bigger issues such as the cost of living crisis and the Green party leadership crisis.

*Don’t recall One News ambushing Ardern about her pre-recording of her Waitangi Day message, which was meant to be a secret.

Compare that to Luxon’s social media team not captioning a post correctly.

Anyway the message for National/ACT is, Labour play dirty, expect more of it as Labour panics (bad polls/bad economy), and expect Labour’s favorite journos to be spoon fed “gotcha questions” which they will throw around to save Cindy!
