You have to ask yourself why would a Rogue MP in his first term in Government decide to go up against in Labours view the most popular Prime Minister in the modern time.
Labour MP Gaurav Sharma: Letter reveals internal support over X Staff concerns. But it looks like Labour and the Prime Minister have met their match with the rogue MP showing he has done his homework with many Labour officials in his district signing a letter giving him there support.
I couldn’t care one iota as it is not my party but I do care that the media and other parties have forgotten how they have written, mouthed of and condemned the National Party , Sam Uffindell of bullying and are trying to create blame on the messenger instead of taking responsibility for what has happened and support Gaurv Sharma in his call for a inquiry.

  If there is nothing to hide then there should be an independent inquiry by 3 retired High Court Judges where evidence can be presented in confidence. This is a case of Whistle Blowing so the condition contained in the Protected Disclosures Act should be applied.
  But there wont be an independent inquiry because the evidence shows the Parliament is a toxic place. It is over represented by the immoral unethical and deviants of all kinds.
  Interestingly ACT is the only party that hasnt been riven by scandal.

  I am surprised to hear the comments made by Ardern and Robertson.
  Really it is usual Labour tactix – we are right and you are of course wrong.
  But, this time Dr Sharma is a highly intelligent an very well educated Medical practicioner, and not just any old University BA, like them.
  Now here is the crunch – his constituents like him – of any persuation, as he it is believed listen to them and acts as a good MP should.
  He did not go into Parliament just to sit back, like the other Labour MP’s and their 200 staff and do what they want, as he does not employ them, not what the member they serve wants.
  Lastly, and of importance, he is highly supported by the Indian Community as a Leader – not all Labourites as they may have been once were once. Now being families with their business acumen and being a an important part of our cohesive community.
  This will continue to increase so Labour beware of the ramification not only in Hamilton East.
  As a National MP or Independent he would shoe in.

    Quite so. Possibly the worst of all was the murder of Beverley Bouma in Reporoa in 1998. Four armed men burst into the Bouma’s home, stole a car and bank cards, and one of the men shot Mrs Bouma in the head when she refused to perform a sex act on him.
    
    As the link below notes, this case was the first where the label “home invasion” was used publicly, and resulted in a law change to increase sentences for those who attacked people in their own homes. The offenders in this case were homegrown.

      We were bound & gagged & held at gunpoint in our beds by 4 men who wanted the proceeds from our business safe. That was 13 May 1996. They needed caucus a heroin haul. Needless to say they got bigger all as they’d broken into our business the week before so we had a warning. We were too stupid in the meantime not to gut our home out with an alarm system. They were going to shoot us all when they didn’t get what they came for. Our Bank opened up for us on the Saturday night so we could dump all Friday’s and most of Saturday’s takings. Lotto was involved. It was a 2 hour ordeal.

    It’s a good point. By letting unviable businesses fail, some may learn from it and reappear with a different set of ideas and then succeed.
    
    This is what creates positive, productive society, not throwing good money after bad at things that aren’t working.
    
    It’s like rewarding kids for bad behaviour but instead of chocolate biscuits it’s taxpayer cash!

      Yes perhaps.
      
      An example might be the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. It receives a significant public subsidy. It cannot generate sufficient income from ticket sales and sponsorship to be viable. That is the case with most ‘small population’ orchestras, even those in Australia.
      
      The argument for the subsidy is that New Zealand benefits culturally from having a world class orchestra and world class classical musicians. I agree, but I would because I regularly attend the concerts, so I fully admit I am not impartial. 🙂
      
      The argument is similiar for ballet, opera etc.
      
      But news media, that is a different story altogether…
      
      For at least the last 200 years the western world has had a flourishing news media, largely privately funded. Indeed it has made many people immensely rich.
      
      What happened post 2005 is that the internet disrupted that 200 year old model. Some media owners adapted and thrived. Others did not. The New Zealand mainstream media is a classic example.
      
      If the Government withdraws all funding (as it should) many outlets and journalists will die (figuratively). That is a good thing. New players will emerge who will offer people content that can be either supported by advertising or that people are willing to pay for.

        Most of the media that have adapted and thrived do so on the back of reporting by larger, diverse media organisations that have significantly higher costs. This site you are using gets a lot (most?) of its news from which its commentary is based on from mainstream news – for free.

        Not all ‘mainstream news’ is ‘free’. https://www.stuff.co.nz/ is free because zero is the value that most readers attach to its services. Otherwise it would charge for them. I read it because it is free. If it went broke I would not give it a second thought.
        
        The Sydney Morning Herald is not ‘free’. Neither are most Australian online portals of major newspapers. Same in the UK. Serious weekly newspapers are not ‘free’.

  This is further proof the fund was not actually about assisting media companies to get through a difficult period but a deliberate move using our tax money to establish a coterie of biased journalists aimed at supporting the government.
  
  Of all the treacherous actions undertaken by Arderns ragtag mob this may prove to be the most corrupt and blatantly anti-democratic because much of the damage inflicted cannot be undone – the poisoning of impressionable minds.

  Seriously, do they not understand that this sort of thing happens all the time? Contracts finish and don’t get renewed, one provider is ditched as another comes in with a lower bid, businesses have a downturn and have to downsize. Staff are made redundant. Sad for all involved, but I think everybody in the *real* world understands that this is simply reality.
  
  To be fair, Stuff’s head of news Mark Stevens is quote as saying that Stuff would not encourage the fund to be continued in its current form. And nor should it. The fund was only ever supposed to a one-off, much like Covid support payments – which were marketed as “a payment to help support viable and ongoing businesses or organisations which experienced a 40% or more drop in revenue as a result of … COVID-19″.

    The model of ‘Stuff’ is busted. If (I hope when) the Government withdraws the funding that will be the end.
    
    Newspapers used to be a gold mine. Look at publications like the Sydney Morning Herald. Pre (circa) 2005 its weekend edition ran to hundreds of pages with jobs and real estate advertising. It has (somewhat) managed to transition to a paid subscriber model because (compared) to New Zealand media, it still offers quality journalism. Another good example is The Australian. The Australian Financial Review is another.
    
    Stuff cannot make that work, and I don’t think any existing media outfit can make it work. Why would I donate Stuff money? If they offered a premium service with quality journalists, I might consider it.
    
    The Government’s solution is that most media is either owned by or funded by the Government. That they think this is fine tells you a lot about this Government.

      Happily, though, I was able to fill in the (many) moments of ‘Dear God, will SOMEONE please just SCORE!’ by perusing the day’s edition of The New York Times, ‘The Gray Lady’.
      3.62 kg of it. (front page section, book review, arts, metropolitan, real estate, crossword…).

      As for vaccine damage, they deflect from this proven fact by talking about WHEN the damage occurs. Again, no denial that it is happening. Just waffle around how “rare” it is. A lie.

  With the Ex Austrian Chancellor having to stand down after being accused of bribing media and pollsters , is there any lawyers out there who could draw a comparison with our PM.
  Ardern has been open about public funding of media and her Monday morning meetings with media heads , to discuss the coming weeks coverage.
  Her PIJF dosent even try to hide the fact that to get the money you have to support Government policy on their “interpretation” of treaty matters.
  We know this is unethical at least but it’s hard to imagine that this isn’t illegal .

Right now I am in Rarotonga. Mrs Rocky had an accident but got fast excellent treatment in the hospital funded by the NZ. Our government donated vaccines to the Cook Islands who were able to get vaxxed before we were. Our government also gave business support grants to Cook Island companies on the same basis as in NZ.
I went fishing with a couple of locals who lived in NZ and have family there. They were joking that the NZ government treats Cook Islanders better than the people of NZ.
PS Mrs Rocky is fine. It is great here.

From 2022 onwards, when filing a Trust’s income tax return one must include an IR6P form showing details of who has the power to hire and fire trustees of that Trust. And fair enough, because the person with those powers effectively controls that Trust.
..So to read that something like N.Z. On Air is independent of the Government; that sort of comment makes me nauseous.

I do despair a bit, or am I totally fucked up in my understanding of what I have read – and so should despair even more? Like –

• Te Puna, a Māori Advisory Group.advises on Māori interests and knowledge as they relate to the objectives, functions and operating principles of Taumata Arowai, the new water services regulator, established November 2021.

• Taumata Arowai is committed to ensuring all communities have access to safe drinking water [and] also have an oversight role in protecting the environment from the impacts of wastewater and stormwater. Te Puna is chaired by Tipa Mahuta.

• So Tipa Mahuta chairs Te Puna, which ‘advises’ Taumata Arowai – the new water services regulator – which controls the “3 Waters” Four Regional Entities, with “co-governance” at that level.

And it is this “co-governance at this lower Four Regional Entities level, which upsets people – many commenting here – but they ignore the fact that Maori advisors of Te Puna and Taumata Arowai are at the top of this culturally controlled Ponzi scheme?

Take Graham Adams writing for Newsroom – Will Māori have the whip hand for key Three Waters jobs?
Adams asks – who exactly will be eligible to qualify for the appointment committees and boards under these criteria?
Who exactly will be deemed to have sufficient “knowledge of, and experience and expertise in relation to the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi; and perspectives of mana whenua, mātauranga, tikanga, and te ao Māori”?

Some commentators believe that, in practice, these criteria will heavily (perhaps exclusively) favour Māori candidates because who other than mana whenua, for instance, will be able to claim they have “perspectives of mana whenua”? …

That may effectively exclude even the most experienced Pakeha or other non-Māori candidates …

Anyone who doubts the truth of this unfortunate conclusion need only consider the case of Dame Anne Salmond and how she ended up dropping out of an international microbiology conference at which she was scheduled to speak last November on the advertised topic of “Mātauranga and molecular science”.

As Professor Elizabeth Rata, from the School of Critical Studies in Education at Auckland University, wrote in a letter published in the Listener last September:
“The withdrawal of a speech by Distinguished Professor Dame Anne Salmond to the 16th Congress of the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists [in Christchurch] is the latest example of cancel culture.

So, while Graham Adams makes extremely valid points about who will qualify for certain influential positions, there is no mention of the already established top Maori-elite loaded control – Te Puna and Taumata Arowai – of this “3 Waters” cultural Ponzi scheme.

Already established! – so there must have been quite a bit of laughter at Willie Jackson’s hui with targeted Maori elite, with their morning cup of tea kai, and tax paid savoury sausage rolls – unless I do have it all wrong and I am the silly sausage.

  The legislation needs to clearly define the lines of responsibility and ownership.
  So far we know that the Government are in a ‘hands off’ position and Council Ownership will not give local authorities any meaningful say.
  The government have told us that ‘3 Waters’ will prevent waters passing into private hands.
  While it may be possible to argue such a position it doesn’t seem to be any different to private ownership.

    One ultimate justification for “3 Waters” is that it will allow Entities to borrow more finance that individual councils can.
    To do that one assumes the ownership of assets will be with those entities, otherwise with what would they have the standing to borrow?
    
    It also implies then that if repayment defaults, the assets will be forfeited to the lender, does it not.
    And where do ratepayers fit in to service the loan and actually repay them?
    And how do they determine what individual ratepayers wil pay in rates?
    Totally unexplained as far as I can see.

    How do you know they are “racist taunts”? I’ve stated this before, I’ll point it out again, I have Irish background. My whole life I’ve had times when someone made a comment or told a joke along the stereotypical lines of the “thicko” and stupid Irish.
    I’ve been offended possibly 1% of the time. That’s because I could interpret the intention of the speaker, whether it was malicious or good natured.

    A book editor, or helping writer if he had one and many folk do, might well have prompted him for something controversial. Taylor’s book is now better known, and beyond the circle of cricket enthusiasts. The book will sell well.
    
    Far more severe things have been said about cricket. Rudyard Kipling, in one of his most jingoistic poems, wrote of “the flannelled fools at the wicket or the muddied oafs at the goals.”

    So it was curious that yesterday, DPF has a blog post entitled “In defence of Labour MPs”, which when read, creates an element of doubt about the sincerity of Dr Gaurav Sharma.
    
    The final statement in that post “Accusation is not the same as proof. Just because they are MPs in a party whose policies I don’t support, means that they are necessarily in the wrong.”
    
    I would direct DPF to another of his posts: “Four days for 88,000 submissions!” Note the exclamation mark. As we know, the entire thrust of Three Waters is to remove ownership from the councils. In the normal course of events, how long would 80,000 submissions take to review, and how much time would be allocated? 6 months, 12 months, 24 months?
    
    To put in place a plan to review 80,000 submissions in 4 days takes a lot of bypassing rules, standards and takes an extreme amount of pressure, to get everyone connected onboard with the 4 days. Even many “dyed in the wool” lefties, would puke over rushing things through at light speed.
    
    Bullying is more than just personal abuse. In a work environment or organisation, it also includes being told to do something when you know it is wrong or incorrect; being told to “comply and do what you are told”, when what you are being told to do will have negative consequences.
    
    Which for a normal human being told to comply with an order they know to be wrong, causes an internal mental conflict. Being told firmly to do as you are told, and not allowed to address the issue at hand or put forward an alternative view, is bullying.
    
    In fact there may be no raised voices or anger in an instruction. It may be accompanied by blackmail or a bribe, but it is still bullying. “Remember we pay you.”
    
    In many case this type of bullying is worse than personal abuse. With personal abuse you can leave, change jobs, or departments, and the offender ceases to have power over you. But the burden of knowing that the bully is going to go ahead anyway and affect the lives or welfare of the public, and that will always be visible, is a burden not easily let go of.
    
    Both of the posts mentioned seem at odds to each other, in principle. To ram through a process that address 80,000 submissions in 4 days would have required wholesale bullying.
    
    Bullying is a cornerstone of a totalitarian regime. I believe Dr Gaurav Sharma is only scratching the surface. I have no doubt in the honesty of his statements.
    
    The mindset of narcissists can make anyone doubt themselves. “Nothing to see here, move along.”

        The Committee staff, who are not determined by the MPs, will have been through the submissions and produced both a summary report and pulled out the relevant submissions for the meetings and the most useful ones from stakeholder groups etc.
        
        There is no use in sending in form submissions or anything other than a properly composed submission. They get tagged as for or against and then added to the stats report in the summary.
        
        I think I saw that there are 80k submissions? There’s no point in the MPs reading all of them, only the ones which make it through the filter for quality etc.
        
        The committee staff will provide a representative sample.

  She actually may have not seen anything to substantiate the claims. She may have talked about and discussed it at length, and discussed damage control, but may not have had any piece of paper in front of her eyes that had evidence on it. Hence “I have not seen anything….”
  
  A wife may suspect her husband of cheating on her and she asks him if he has slept with another woman. He keeps saying he has never slept with another woman. He may even pass a lie detector test to that question, despite having had sex with several dozen women over several years on sales trips out of town.

  We are now fully aware of the methods used by the bought and owned shills in the NZ mainstream media. Ad hominem, smear, vilify. Don’t bother actually addressing any of the valid points raised.
  I worked out very early in 2021 that if something was labelled “misinformation” on FB or social media by a “fact checker” – the post was almost certainly true. This has turned out to be a very easy way to gather factual information.
  
  I would apply the same rationale to this topic. The harder the media are attacking a group or a person, the more likely it is they are doing a sterling job in helping the country get rid of Ardern, Labour and their poodles in the Green Party.
  I will be watching with great interest. I will be voting for those who the media attack the hardest.

  I nearly lost my coffee when I followed the Stuff link to debunk the “conspiracy theory” re the UN. I promise, I hadn’t read it when I wrote my previous post talking about “fact checkers.”

This keeps the whole thing off the table for two weeks and allows Chris, Sam and National Party people in Tauranga to consider their positions. Also Sam’s life is potentially in turmoil, while he would remain employable there are other personal factors. Watched the new documentary “Fire and Fury” last night about the Wellington protest and thought it was very well done overall.
Very interesting to see the profiles of the main players behind the various groups involved and their constantly shifting statements around their real intentions.
It also showed in clear view how much of the stuff they put out is all modeled on American alt right Trump campaign derived material which is not only anti mandate but quite obviously a form of anarchist complete destruction of society world view.
It definitely gave me a better understanding of the more extreme contributors on KB around this subject and the dark places they would like to lead society too.

        Maybe there is actually some truth to this, as a lot of the protesters present also represented the vaccine injured. For example, I spoke with a young woman from Dunedin whose husband died following his vaccine….
        
        It sounds like this “documentary” is an attempt to label us filth, when in reality we were, as far as I could tell, a broad cross section of very concerned individuals across NZ society, if anything, perhaps weighted towards young mothers, Maori and I also met many from ex-soviet states who were ringing the alarm bells loud and clear…
        
        There were some big days with thousands of concerned individuals. I reckon the integral of protesters over the duration, 23 days I think, would have certainly equated to tens of thousands of individuals.

      IMO protest was justified for one core reason. The vaccine mandates destroyed lives and were based on junk science. The false premise was that the vaccines protected against infection. It is now clear that was a lie. Long after that was obvious, Jacinda would not let go. AFAIK she still has not conceded she was wrong. It was evil.
      
      Yes such protests will attract some odd folk, but for those who lost their jobs, I have great sympathy.

        It was an investigation of the motives and backgrounds of some of the main players in the protest movement.

Steve Kirsch has written an email to CDC director Rochelle Walensky.
He is asking the same of her as many have been asking in NZ. Basically, stop shutting down anyone who disagrees with you without basis. There is no “single source of truth” no matter how much that upsets your clown world. We need to have an open and honest discussion. An alarming United Nations report (wouldn’t mind a tenner for every one of those) warns that the number of extreme wildfires is expected to increase 50% globally by the end of the century, and that governments are largely unprepared for the burgeoning crisis (24/2/22).

Makes you wonder if there is any point in our continuing to plant more trees.

  A good manager would be on the phone to a troubled team member, or asking for a face to face immediately. Rather than fronting the press, Ardern should have been reaching out to him. Then she might have even presented a united front and been seen to at least be appearing to want to look at his concerns.
  It is only damage control, deny and trying to reverse the roles in the bully accusations.

Eugyppius is, in my opinion, the finest blogger on the planet right now. Obviously that is among those I have read. His latest piece again focuses on German Health Minister, Karl Lauterbach. Swap Michael Baker for Lauterbach and this makes perfect sense.

Dr Sharma’s credentials are impressive. His qualifications and experience are amazing.

The subsequent bullying of Dr Sharma by Cindy et al appear to be as a result of thinking that Dr Sharma has ideas above his station. He’s too big for his boots.

Would Cindy treat a white person the same way? Is it possible that some could draw racial undertones from Cindy’s gaslighting of Dr Sharma?

The truth is, I don’t know.

Personally, I don’t believe that we have enough evidence yet to say whether the attacks on Dr Sharma are racially motivated.

We know that Cindy holds herself out as a white saviour, but this is very different from being a white supremacist…

The possible motivations for Cindy gaslighting Dr Sharma are interesting. It is informative to compare the two in terms of qualifications and experience.

Dr Sharma is 34. He was Proxime Accessit (runner-up Dux) at Auckland Grammar School. He was named one of the top six students in the country as per the NZ Education and Scholarship Trust. He received the Fulbright Scholarship to complete an MBA at George Washington University in Washington DC. He has practiced medicine in different hospitals across Auckland.

Cindy is 42. She worked in a fish and chip shop, and then became a politician. She was President of International Union of Socialist Youth. She got in a degree in Communication, at Waikato University.

Perhaps comparing the CV’s could give us some indication of why Cindy went into full gaslighting mode on Dr Sharma?

  If she was a true leader of people, she would have checked out Sharma’s version of events before she accepted the version fed to her by her whips and Parliamentary services.

Here is a test for kiwibloggers. I will present three incidents. Can you spot the three common themes?

Strike one – Cindy allegedly viciously bullies an Asian KFC worker, during the Covid mass hysteria. Cindy is later proved wrong, but refuses to apologise to the lady.

Strike two – Cindy allegedly relentlessly bullies the Māori MP Louisa Wall. Cindy never admits nor apologises for this conduct.

Did you spot the three themes?

The first theme is a pattern of alleged bullying by Cindy.

The second theme is that Cindy does not offer an apology or any remorse for this alleged behaviour.

The third theme is that the victims are from racial minorities.

Of course, the fact that the three victims above were not of European ancestry doesn’t prove that Cindy is some kind of white supremacist. The pattern could, and probably is, purely coincidental.

  The doctor’s days are numbered one way or another, even if the caucus don’t choose to expel him from the party.
  There’s no way he’ll survive the next election given current poll numbers.
  As it is he’s an accidental MP, who won flipped a safe National seat.

New Zealand is sending another 120 soldiers to the UK to help train Ukrainians.

Military people are slow to learn.

The fall of Singapore in 1942 showed that NZ and Australia’s defence is pretty much unrelated to Europe.

The Defence Minister, Henare, said, in part, that the deployment “promotes retention in our defence work force.”

We’re deploying to the other side of the world to help stop soldiers leaving the Army?

Fonterra has already pulled out of Russia, losing close to $200 million a year in business while its French dairy rival Danone, and the Swiss dairy rival,Nestle, keep trading in Russia. The pair say they are providing only essential items, and Nestle says it will give to charities any profit on the Russian trading.

What do we do if China invades Taiwan? Would Fonterra sever its trading ties with China? How would our military help the far better equipped Taiwanese?

  Thats not a meeting you would want to attend. It will be a pile in from all concerned on Dr Sharma.
  Having said that the texts he has just released shows he may have more than a sliver of support.
  It will be interesting to see if he attends and stands his ground.
