■ They developed a divisive secret agenda called Three Waters. They had a separatist plan where some New Zealanders will have more rights than others – Winston Peters, Twitter but referenced by “mainstream”-ish Newshub

So It is good to see Winston “embarking on the wider (full) public consultation process” when Willie and Jacinda haven’t dellvered … as appears to be a trait of this Ardernity Labour Government

Winston seems to have cut-through in MSM, where many other commentators do not.
So I desperately hope he picks up, as reference or research, the excellent articles of Thomas Cranmer, like this morning’s “Cabinet loses grip of Five Waters” –

[Both] ‘Te Mana o te Wai’ with ‘Te Mana o te Wai statements’ … are similar, but nonetheless separate concepts, used in the Bill. The former relates to the concept as defined in the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management and has been in use since 2014. The latter refers to statements issued under section 140 of the Bill by mana whenua which are a totally new statutory mechanism developed for these reforms. Conflating these two concepts in response to questions over many months has allowed Mahuta to effectively hide the ball when it comes to examining the scope and unbridled nature of Te Mana o te Wai statements.

More deaths on our roads again last night and Labour the Government have no ideas on how to lower the number of people that are contributing to what looks like being a all time record.
I myself don’t believe in Labours solutions like lowering the speed limit on many roads because that increases the problem through impatience and more drivers prepared to break the law to get to where they want to go.
This Labour Government have neglected our roads and are pissing many drivers off with second rate repairs that is putting more time on people’s journeys on our major highways down to one lane at peak hours which encourages drivers to speed to make up time they have lost .
Everything Labour touches turns to shit and causes heart break with their attitude we know best so do as you are told.

  If you make everyone travel 20% slower they will take 25% longer on any given trip and will pass by 25% more cars going the other direction, with 25% more chances for the random fuckups that lead to fatal head-ons. (and 25% more time for random screwups and inattention that lead to fatal accidents)
  
  Head on crashes are about 10-20% of all road deaths internationally (mostly in countries with less opposing traffic than NZ) so I predict a substantial increase in deaths if they reduce the speed limit.

    Nothing. You are spot on, and I have been preaching this for years. I wish I could give you 100 upticks.
    I have survived into my mid seventies because when I was young and alert I drove at 120-140 on the open road keeping very aware of what was happening both in front of me and what was coming towards me.
    I was exposed to danger for a much shorter time.

On Mike Hosking’s show last Wednesday, Megan Woods stated the addition of geothermal and coastal elements to the 3 waters legislation was only an idea (recommendation).
Yesterday on Heather du Plessis-Allan’s show, Grant Robertson confirmed the additional of geothermal and coastal waters is in fact part of the new legislation and will remain.
At Ardern’s post cabinet press conference yesterday when asked by Barry Soper on the impact of the reach of Te Mana o Te Wai statements, she conflated the RMA changes with 3 waters. Hard to say if she understands either, or if she was purposely confusing the issues to avoid further questioning.
I was disappointed in Heather du Plessis-Allan when she said this is new and has had little coverage. It’s not new, and a number of constitutional experts have raised questions over the effect of the legislation, but with little media coverage and it will be pushed through under urgency resulting in a major change to our democracy and constitutional construct.
The fact Ardern or Robertson would not confirm that the 3rd reading of the bill will be this week, but deferred to Hipkins showed how dishonest they are – They know well it’s going to be passed this week.
This has to be the most deceitful piece of legislation I have seen in my 50 years of following politics in NZ, and it has nothing to do with water safety, or lowering local body rates. It’s purely about ceding control (ownership) of all water to Māori elite, and will have long term detrimental impact on ALL New Zealanders.

  Allan is a bit of a disappointment full stop Tricati. I listened to her on the way home yesterday afternoon. She was making some OK-ish comments about the Government halting their hate speech shite. But, then she exploded everything when she commented that the Government was still going to create hate speech legislation around religion. And duly jumped in like a complete retard saying that this would allow the likes of Israel Folau to spread hate about homosexuals (ie: Christians believe that purveyors of the immoral will burn go to hell [and therefore burn] and Folau repeating that is hate speech). Luxon says that it’s parents responsibility to get kids to school. Well yea it is. And yesterday he called wrap around services kumbaya.

I could get on board with what used to be the most basic of ideas.

Yet somehow she argues against him saying it’s complex. While I can usually understand the other sides position, can they really argue against wanting kids to go to school? Is she really OK with kids not attending school?

Let me guess, it’s racist to have to get up in the morning and help your kids get ready for school.

It’s not. Send your kids to school. They will probably enjoy the free lunch and smoke free environment.

    This is all just theory.
    In practice the truancy services are under resourced and don’t really do much except in the absolutely worst cases.
    
    We homeschooled our kids. We were advised by the MoE to always carry a copy of our homeschooling certificate with us in case we were stopped by truancy offers.
    
    In 17 years of homeschooling we didn’t speak to a truancy officer. Not even once.

  Labour is constantly using “it’s complex” as an excuse for this situation we are in as a nation that they have no control over. The only thing Labour are successful in is throwing money around hoping it will fix the problem but no results.
  Getting kids to school is not complex. It’s straight forward. If parents can’t get their kids to school in the morning that just tells me they’ve given up and lost control. And yes – Luxon is right, this falls squarely on the parents’ shoulders first and foremost.

While Winston Petera cannot be trusted which has been proven again and again, somehow people forget and buy another ticket.

He is achieving one thing though, calling the government out for being racist liars and trampling on democracy. No one else would get away with what he says or manage to get it printed so hopefully it wakes a few up.

I see that when Luxon questioned whether Parents were to blame for truancy and that they are responsible for their children to attend school the journalistic fraternety painted him as some sort of goblin to suggest such.

Maybe if they looked at the laws surrounding truancy et al they would not look so stupidly ignorant.

Sadly, they really cannot help themselves.

  My partner told me a story. One day her son, who was about 12 at the time, missed the school bus. He came home and announced that he could not be bothered going to school.
  
  My partner then phones her dad, a retired police officer. Help. Shortly afterwards the grandfather shows up and bundles the kid into his car and takes him to school.
  
  It was never discussed and my partner still does not know what was discussed on the way to school. But apparantly the kid never tried to skip school again. 😅

  Good luck with that Kiri!! Qatar is run on religion first and foremost. Having been to the likes of Abu Dahbi and Dubai they are very strict however they are pretty safe countries to visit as a westerner. But I always take the attitude – it’s their country and while I’m there I will respect their rules. At the end of the day, their rules are none of our business. How would Cindy feel if Qatar stuck their nose into our affairs? Each to their own.

  But I do lurv all the hypocrisy around this world cup farce . Especially from the uber rich footie stars themselves who make such a show of concern for “human rights” ( are they still taking a knee before matches) and yet will attend that shit hole where over 6000 migrant workers have died building the city over these past years .

Disney CEO Bob Chapek has received what most investors thought should have happened a good while ago since after one year of his tenure, the share price had plummeted 40%. Chapek has copped the age old “don’t come Monday”. It will have cost Disney the GDP of a small third world country. And lo, Chapek’s replacement is his mentor, Bob Iger. Iger had a very successful 15 year run as Disney’s CEO, but will he cleanse the joint of the wokists, or at minimum, heavily reduce their vermin like influence? I am certainly taking a punt and buying.

      The majority of the problem is downstream from the CEO.
      
      On the media front they need a circuit breaker out of the MCU/StarWars franchises but won’t get it from Kennedy and Fiege.
      
      Likewise the parks are being swallowed up by operating cost surges that make it uneconomic for anyone not in the top 5% of earners.

The liberal Left will no doubt scream, but I expect Christopher Luxon to get widespread support for his comments yesterday on parenting; Newshub reports:

National Party leader Christopher Luxon has added to his growing list of people who should take responsibility for the truancy crisis, with parents in the firing line.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has slammed the comments, saying Luxon has over-simplified a complex situation for political gain.

Luxon’s pointing the finger at parents and has no time for excuses.

“You chose to have these kids, you have to wake up at 7am, get your kids to school at 8am,” he said.

“You have now got subsidised free lunches, free breakfasts, subsidised period products, subsidised school uniforms.

“There is no excuses. What we have in New Zealand is a culture of excuses.”

Last week, Luxon put principals on notice.

He told AM: “There is a mixed standard of leadership across our schools and across our principals that actually means they’re not focussing as strongly on getting kids to school as they can.”

It came after figures showed just 40 percent of children went to school regularly in term two this year.

Luxon on Monday called it a “social failure”, a “moral failure” and a “future economic crisis”.

It’s a crisis he’s now laying at the feet of parents.

But Ardern doesn’t agree and believes National has a “simple view of the world”.

What Luxon is saying is pretty basic and straighforward, and it’s an opinion held by many New Zealanders. But if you dare to air it publicly, you risk a pile-on from do-gooder lefties who believe that money is the solution to ever societal ill.

Luxon has been criticised for fence-sitting, but in the release of the youth crime policy last week, his comments about principals needing to take more responsibility for truancy at their schools and yesterday’s comments he has shown that his won’t shy away from making comments that are likely to be criticised. Both he and David Shearer were quick to dismiss the prospects of their parties supporting a drop in the voting age yesterday.

Luxon now has a year under his belt as National Party leader, and in that time, he and Nicola Willis have kept National’s caucus stable and united, whilst the leaks have dried up. That in itself is an achievement! But as more Labour MP’s start to feel the discomfort of impending obscurity, it’s Labour that is far more likely to have issues with disunity.

And if Luxon, Willis and co remain on message and continue to present a commonsense agenda such as his comments yesterday on parental choices, middle New Zealand will warm to him.

  Hell when I started High School in 1960 I used to leave home at about 7am to bike roughly 3 miles to catch the bus which arrived at school at about 8.40am.
  
  Home at about 4.30pm then milk the house cow if my father was stiil busy on the farm. Three hours homework after tea if I did not get some of it done on the bus on the way home.
  
  And I was only one of several kids from the area doing the same.

    We used to get up at half-past 2, have a mouthful of cold gravel for breakfast, then lick road clean wit’ tongue. We’d walk four miles to school, barefoot in the snow, and 6 miles home again in the evening. Our mum and dad used to chop us up wi’ carving knives and dance on our graves, singing ‘Allelujah.     It is also the School Principal and Board of Trustees’ responsibility to ensure that enrolled children are attending their school regularly.
    
    Schools, along with parents and guardians, are legally responsible for making sure students attend school.

        What, you cant really think that some principals are doing a better job than others!
        
        The third player here is the MOE, they are the ones providing the funding and support to schools to make attendance happen. They specify the curriculum and make sure that schools are fulfilling their duties. Much like the reserve bank needs to keep inflation between 1-3% the MOE is required to ensure kids attend school and are educated properly.

      We need to have a conversation around this. We will start by setting up a new government department. Staffing it with 50% women, 50% Maori and 50% gay / trans. Of the Maori staff we will need at least 20% Mahuta or Jackson relatives.
      
      The new department wont actually have any skills but they will manage the contracing out to advisors. We will pay these people millions of dollars and be sure that the reference will restrict the results from blaming the government or any one block of society.
      
      Results will arrive Dec 24 2026

  That Ardern is lecturing anyone on policy decisions being ‘driven by what works’ is just sickening.

    “Currently there are two levels used – neither of which are legally binding – which create uncertainty for landlords and tenants,” Woods said.
    
    “We have proposals that are informed by science, on screening, testing, and decontamination, with clear obligations for landlords.
    
    Former Chief Science Advisor Sir Peter Gluckman’s 2018 report resulted in a more scientific approach to residue dangers.
    
    “In the proposals, a maximum acceptable level of surface methamphetamine residue is proposed to be set at 15 micrograms per 100 square centimetres, which is also the level which a property needs to be decontaminated back to, or below.,” Woods said.
    
    “This level of residue is consistent with the findings of Sir Peter Gluckman’s report and advice from ESR.
    
    Once relevant regulations are in place, landlords will not be able to knowingly rent out premises that are contaminated above the prescribed levels (as set out in the regulations), without decontaminating in accordance with the regulations.       Before Gluckman’s report, the max level was 2.5 rather than 15. This is still specified in an NZ Standard where the committee drawing up the standard was dominated by people from the “decontamination” industry ….
      
      2.5 was “strip out wallboard/carpet/door/biff all furniture” stuff where 15 is “wash and steam clean”. There was no evidence that 2.5 made any sense. Gluckman’s team invited the industry to find some because they (the team) couldn’t.

Also, if property managers face higher costs of complying with this new “regulatory framework”, they will increase the management fees they charge owners.   Prue is right. There are no benefits to being a private landlord. I bailed out and cashed up 7 years ago as the tenant was just too high maintenance. Wanted everything done in the house as if he was living in a brand-new house. The only work around is by not having tenants now, but boarders. Slightly different rules and the boarders are just renting a room with shared spaces.

    I used to rent my house while I was abroad.
    I employed property managers to find tenants, arrange maintenance & set & collect the rent.
    There were a number of tenants over the years, none of whom were unreasonable. They looked after the property; kept the house clean, mowed the lawns.
    I never made a killing, but on the other hand there were no nasty surprises either and that suited me just fine.
    Made a lot more money from capital gain when I sold it, I’d have to say.

    – maturity of judgement.

I saw a Ministry of Social Development report covering beneficiary numbers in that part of New Zealand between Timaru and Invercargill. It had been highlighted on the Bassett Brash site, by Lindsay Mitchell. One part of it astounded me.
77.2% of beneficiaries in that area are Maori.
I could believe that in places like Kaikohe, Murupara, Tokoroa and some others, but in the south of the South Island, I find that extraordinary.

Jacinda more slippery than an eel covered in vaseline in her post cabinet press conference, passing questions to David Clark when questions about Winston got abit too awkward. Also her not understanding Barry Soper’s question about 3 Waters including Geothermal and sea water. She knew what he was asking but purposely played dumb making it about the RMA.

Have recently been catching up watching the first 2 series of the Crown. While a lot of the detail is good I noticed a couple of items in the last episode viewed.

1.The Queen was shown visiting the Jaguar and Williams Lyons (I resume it was him) referred to a new car as a “m” “k” “1” which we all know as MKI but in reality the MKI labels did not come about until the MKII arrived in 1959.

2. was a 1950’s TV lit up as soon as it was switched on and just happened to be tuned to a non BBC channel.

Shows what happens when things are left to the young ones.

  He has some solid points I think.
  
  I think he’s wrong about the defensive driving courses though – things are worse than he says.
  
  Both my kids went on defensive driving courses because they wanted to learn to be safer and better drivers. In both cases they were the only kids in the class doing the defensive driving for that reason. All the others had been instructed to go to a defensive driving course by the court after some serious event.
  For those people it was just a bit of a lark- a punishment like staying in after school. The only people there who actually wanted to learn were my kids.
  IMHO far too few people in NZ really get good driving instruction, then they follow it up by being chancers. Being a dickhead driver is “cool”.

The Supreme Court is worried about the Bill of Rights for 16 year olds.

Yet during the Covid hoax, the Court couldn’t care less about the Bill of Rights. Cindy spat on the BoR for the best part of three years, with zero consequences.

How am I supposed to the Court seriously now? They had their chance, and they blew it. They chose to disgrace themselves.

New Zealand’s institutions have been vandalised by the government, possibly beyond repair…

Unjustified absences increased noticeably in the middle and end of Term 2. In 2015 holidays during term time were captured separately for the first time and recorded as an unjustifiable absence

  Worse, this lying is a misrepresentation for her benefit. It really is a form of fraud.

We will be heading for another disaster in political laws if Labour get the chance in the next year to pass a heap of them through Parliament.
Remember Geoffrey Palmer and the laws that were passed through Parliament when he was a MP, Minister and the Prime Minister it took year to change what many Politicians thought wern’t fit for purpose.
This Labour Government won’t be any different from those of the past that emptied the coffers to make it hard for incoming new Government’s and Bills like Three Waters, co Governance, Health Reforms, Treasury and our enormous debt will not help the next Government get on with the job.
Jacinda Ardern our Prime Minister her Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson and the Labour Government Minister’s have gone out of their way to decieve the voter with their agenda of arrogance and ignorance by pushing ahead with bills that are not fit for purpose and divisive for most New Zealander’s.

Out of the long list of labour failures this has to be one of the saddest. It continues to show that sadly, we need a comedian to be pushing mental health, because the government doesn’t give a stuff about people.

When Labour came to power the country had 608 beds for acute mental health patients.

Five years and billions of dollars of health funding later, New Zealand still has 608 beds for acute mental health patients.
