I heard Helen Clark on the radio yesterday explaining how misogyny and hatred forced the PM to quit.

Yes New Zealand has become dangerously polarised. This is because of the policies of the government. Jacinda was a lightening rod for the people adversely affected by those policies. She made things worse by her communication style… the frowny face, waving arms, and accusing any critics of being purveyors of misinformation.

Helen Clark’s comments yesterday show that she is unaware of any of these drivers of the polarisation and the hatred. One of her comments on the radio yesterday illustrated her insularity. I will paraphrase because I cannot locate the quote.

‘This is not who we are as a Nation. We should all be able to agree on things like public health measures and the need for all of us to be vaccinated.’ 🤡

    Clark and Ardern are Globalists that have both pushed their agendas on NZ in a dishonest and non-transparent way. H1 is nicely employed still by the Globalist movement and there is no doubt that Jacinda will be offered a plum role with them in the future.
    
    Clark is the President of Chatamn House. A globalist think tank. They receive funding from Governments, Billionaires, and Corporates including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations.
    
    They operate the “Chatamn House Rule” to encourage the free sharing of information but it also gives license to clandestine and secretive meetings between the elite.
    
    “When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.”
    
    It should be mandatory for NZ parliamentarians to disclose their Globalist affiliations. Can someone beholden to Globalist ideals and masters work for the best interest of our nation?

      No, more like most people have had Covid now and they didn’t die in a ditch.
      I am sure there are all kind of factors for that argument but for me personally, the turning point was when the doctor in South Africa identified the milder strain she was elated as this was good news as it was more like a hard flu and it would become the dominant strain, taking out the original rather nasty version. She was heavily sanction and gagged by the WHO.
      Trouble for the gummit was they carried on with the hysteria and brutal lockdowns, claiming it might even be worse that the original strain
      And yet, when I caught it, it was indeed unpleasant, sore muscles etc, but that was it.
      Methinks now the last part of the lockdown was an obscene over reaction and I suspect I am not the only one.
      It doesn’t help that I am now coming up on year 3 of waiting for surgery I have been approved for.

  I think this narrative about the attacks being worse for female leaders is bullshit. John Key faced worse. The infamous rap song about wanting to rape his daughter, the chant “F John Key” at the Dotcom rallies, plus at least as much name calling as Ardern got. Then look at the regular jostling, mud throwing and dildo throwing aimed at male ROC MPs at Waitangi.
  Look at the abuse directed at Trump and Biden. And Simon Bridges.
  I think there is a natural instinct that females deserve protection but males are considered fair targets

  Simon Wilson and today’s Whoreald editorial are all about this hatred and vitriol theme , along with social media driving her out of office. The editorial uses Sam Neil’s quote ‘pile on by bullies ,misogynists and the aggrieved”.
  
  I recall the campaign , which appeared orchestrated, to drive Simon Bridges out of office . Much of the vitriol coming not from social media but the actual so called mainstream media .
  
  There really was a pile by the bullies against Bridges but why wasn’t there any talk of misandry ?

  Ross Clark in The Telegraph in the UK summed it up regarding Ardern, the same applies to all of these clowns who have assumed “leadership” in unelected bodies that are now clearly running world governments. The article is paywalled but this is the guts of it.

  I wrote here in October 2020 predicting that Jacinda Ardern’s zero-Covid policy in New Zealand would turn out to be a disaster. The ensuing Twitterstorm seemed to involve more people that inhabited New Zealand.
  
  That was the point about Ardern. She wasn’t just Prime Minister of New Zealand – and a popular one at her peak – she was a global pin-up for progressive values. She was the beacon of hope among those on the Left who had been destabilised by Donald Trump, Brexit and Boris Johnson. For many, she was seen as a breed apart among global leaders: one who was untouched by the fatal brew of ego, arrogance and self-interest which they saw as inbred into many male politicians.
  
  Ardern’s undoing was in that she appeared to believe that herself. I don’t claim to be able to read her mind, but I would guess that her real reason for resigning ahead of New Zealand’s general election later this year was not primarily that she wanted to collect her daughter from playgroup every day, as she has intimated, but that she could no longer cope with her halo having slipped. When you have been built up into a living saint it must come as a shock to find yourself under attack for failing to address the same old problems which afflict less-progressive national leaders.
  
  The danger now is that in resigning before what was beginning to look like an inevitable defeat at the polls, she will come to be seen by progressives as a political martyr, reinforcing their belief in her greatness, as a female leader who willingly gave up power to be with her family. The reality is that she failed in much that she tried to achieve, and the hero-worship which she enjoyed around the world made things worse by adding to her hubris.
  
  Our “leaders” no longer represent us.
  They are playing to those at the UN and WEF, people we didn’t elect and people with extraordinarily dangerous ideas around how best to run planet earth.
  The covid narrative has mostly collapsed, so now they are pivoting to “climate” as the existential threat to the planet.
  Democracy is ebbing away from us and control is slowly being assumed by these unelected narcissists.

  You can’t get 50% of the Vote and then complain that being a woman is a problem in Politics.
  
  You can’t head a party that has over 50% of it’s MPs as women and then complain it’s a disadvantage.

  She was actually the victim of normal people unafraid to point out her shortcomings and lies in work places and social events. These normal people never shied away from the hatred they encountered because of their views. Slowly but surely these awful people (who were unkind and also racist because of their views we shoud note) proves to be 100% correct and the majority of the country then slowly woke up and then suddenly Jacinda was gone. The entire Labour Party will be next when they are routed from the government benches in October. Jacinda and Helen and whoever the complainers are, are totally wrong that this was some targeted campaign of hate. All it was was the even distribution of common sense based on fact, and that has brought down a lying and deceitful prime minister and her government will soon follow. This is an excellent result.

  She cited her experience at school with kids who had polio, and the value of the polio vaccine. She is drawing an equivalence between the COVID and polio vaccines.
  
  The difference is that the polio vaccine was an absolute miracle that ended polio. In New Zealand we vaccinated 95 percent of folk for COVID, most of whom then got infected with COVID.

    BY Helen Clark is the master of spin and she is well known for using the information she requires (and ignoring the rest including the truth) to forcefully present her views as being the “correct views”.
    
    When she first became PM in 1999 one of many acts was to discredit the then Police Commissioner by feeding false allegations to the MSM, which they repeated for years and years until 2005 when the former PC broke his silence.
    
    There are many other examples and why the current MS don’t call her “disgraced” (like they do of anyone on the right) is … well it’s the same old story “it’s different when the left do it”.

    Like many NZers I reject their form of intellectual dictatorship. Jacinda has been bagging all people who disagree with her as far right, influenced by international groups spreading mis/dis information because they disagree with her. Now they have worn her out with hurty feelings.
    
    She is 100% right and they are wrong and there is no way she will talk with let alone listen to a dissenter. All I can say is that she is in for an interesting time parenting when her daughter gets old enough to have a difference of opinion.
    
    The biggest pity of the whole situation is that it took her 5 years to realise she didn’t have the capability to do the job. The havoc she has wrecked will be borne by us all well into the future.

An announcement that a Director of Mercury Energy Dennis Barnes was resigning to take up the role of CEO of Snowy Hydro in Australia caused me to dig a bit deeper. Snowy Hydro is a federally owned company that grew out of the former Snowy Mountains Authority and operates 9 power stations and 16 dams. Dennis is a former CEO of Contact Energy so is well placed to manage these assets and because of their age to oversee the necessary maintenance and refurbishment programs. Where it becomes interesting would be the oversight of the two ‘Snowy 2.0’ projects. One is a $A5.9B pumprd storage scheme which is similar to the proposed Lake Onslow scheme. It is suffering major cost blowouts and is further complicated by the financial failure of a major comtractor. So Dennis will have to clean up that mess the best he can.
What is even more interesting is the other Snowy2.0 project, the Kurra Kurra 650MW gas turbine station being built in the Hunter Valley by Snowy Hydro to provide interim generation following closure of a nearby coal fired power station (in the interests of emissions reduction). This sort of station is relatively cheap to build, is inefficient and hence expensive to run but serves as ‘last resort’ generation. There seems to be federal involvement because the federal government’s interest to reduce emissions. The responsible Minister is Labor’s federal Energy and Climate Change Minister Chris Broad. He and Snowy’s former CEO fell out, hence Dennis’s appointment. Chris has demanded that the Kurra Kurra plant be adapted to run partially on Green hydrogen to supplement natural gas, the main fuel. Those who understand these things will be picking themselves up off the floor laughing at this stage. Seemed the former Snowy CEO does not suffer fools gladly and spoke his mind to the Minister thus leading to the fallout. So his replacement is going to have some very interesting challenges.
To explain the Kurra Kurra situation further – the only source of Green hydrogen is by electrolysing water into hydrogen and oxygen and utilising the hydrogen. Presumably some of the oxygen is used for medical and industrial purposes and the rest dumped into the atmosphere (it is not wasted as the energy is in the hydrogen). The process requires electricity and the electrical energy used to produce the hydrogen is the energy content of the hydrogen (less conversion losses). I suspect many people including Minister Broad cannot grasp this concept. Also Green hydrogen is only as green as the electricity used to produce it (ie hydro, wind and solar produce Green hydrogen). So to burn Green hydrogen in a gas turbine plant to produce electricity (ie electricity → hydrogen → electricity) is just plain crazy but those besotted with the thought of a ‘hydrogen economy’ are so blinded that they cannot see this. So all Dennis can reasonably do is to go along with things doing the minimum to keep the Minister happy.
There are parallels to New Zealand. The Snowy pumped storage project will provide useful experience that NZ can draw on if the Lake Onslow project proceeds. Also Minister Broad reminds me of the Minister of Electricity Tom McGuigan in the 1972 to 1975 Kirk government. When people complained about aspects of hydro power station operations, he decreed operating restrictions to the Department. The then Assistant General Manager (Colin Bambery who did not suffer fools gladly) read the tea leaves correctly – he did not argue (which would have raised Norm Kirk’s ire), he just ensured the Minister’s edicts were followed. As a result the Marsden fuel bill went through the roof and following concerns by Treasury to the Minister of Finance, Tom was sidelined and some sanity returned. I would say that Colin Broad Broad in Canberra is heading down the same path as the hapless Tom McGuigan.

  The electricity -> hydrogen -> electricity cycle is extremely inefficient and you’d do much, much, better by just bypassing it with an extension cord.
  
  The other way to get hydrogen is to crack methane and split off the carbon. But you’d do far, far, better by just burning the methane.
  
  Getting O2 as a byproduct is a distraction. Existing methods of collecting oxygen are far more efficient.
  
  The sooner everyone does some basic biology lessons and learns that CO2 is plant food the better.

    Hydrogen obtained by cracking methane (and similar processes) is called Blue hydrogen to distinguish it from Green hydrogen. Only 5% of hydrogen currently produced is Green hydrogen although this would increase if wind and solar farms are built with the specific intention of producing Green hydrogen. I agree that mentioning oxygen is a distraction, but I mentioned it as oxygen is a potentially useful byproduct from electrolysis although one would not use the process if the sole objective is to produce oxygen. For that matter if you simply wanted oxygen and hydrogen for industrial processes etc, other production methods are generally cheaper than electrolysis.

    The energy efficiency is under 30%, but the idea would be to be continuously generating the H2 while electricity is cheaper and store for times when its very expensive. Has the storage problem.
    
    In NZ covering peak load has been crawled over and if you must have 100% renewables then using H2 is nowhere near the cheapest. One of the attractive options is biomethane from forest waste, you get a fuel that can just use all the existing infrastructure (pipeline, underground storage, and existing peakers).
    
    BTW blue hydrogen requires CCUS, without that it becomes grey, but I doubt readers really need to bother.

        The energy balance is OK, biomass is around 20MJ/kg and the gasifier might be 70% efficient. No problem on that front, and we are producing a very high value fuel if servicing peakers.

      Since the federal government is already building pumped storage, it seems strange to want to have hydrogen storage for a similar purpose. The only redeeming feature would be to overcome grid constraints (if any) in the Hunter Valley/ Newcastle area. Also the hydrogen would be far better utilised for other purposes such as hydrogen powered vehicles or industrial processes than burning it in an inefficient gas turbine merely to produce electricity. This is especially as there would seem to be no proposal to utilise the waste heat from the plant for an industrial process or providing steam and hot water for a hospital. But it seems Minister Broad and his greenie advisers are too thick to appreciate this. Interestingly a power generation/ waste heat scheme was installed at Fonterra, Te Rapa. But the generation has been decommissioned because presumably it was found to be more trouble than it was worth.

    Desert photovoltaic power is being constructed with contractually guaranteed electricity prices as low as USD$0.0104/kWh (600 MW Al Shuaiba project in Saudi Arabia), but is generally far from rich western population centers that want it. Electrolysis to make hydrogen from water is up to about 70-80% efficient, and fuel cells or CCGT power plants are about 60% at turning it back into electricity. Meaning round trip efficiencies as low as 40%. But that still yields electricity out the other end at prices lower than typical western wholesale electricity prices (~$0.06-0.08)
    
    Green hydrogen is going to take over because it is cheaper than existing electricity, and can be stored and distributed over long distances efficiently, an ideal, always available renewable source of electricity for summer or winter. It can be used to synthesize hydrocarbons at prices similar to current fossil fuels and so will inevitably supplant fossil fuels for shipping, farming and aviation either as hydrocarbons or hydrogen.

      When you take account of the energy losses from storing and transporting the H2 to Europe (straight energy losses now reachingng around 75%), and the cost of the equipment required and its standing cost when the sun don’t shine (ignored by NL) the hydrogen route will find it hard to compete in Europe.
      
      Saudi are doing this to generate renewable electricity for their own purposes, and with high cooling loads will find a natural match with demand.
      
      Hydrogen from electrolysis is a curiosity, particularly in the NZ where even electricity in heavy trucks look more competitive.

What does it say about the influence of the Maori MPs within Labour, and the level of unity within Labour itself if the Maori members are meeting separately? It’s not a good sign and no matter how the leadership vote plays out tomorrow, the stress fractures between the Maori and non-Maori members of Labour will almost certainly fully reveal themselves as the year progresses.

If the new leader kowtows to the likes of Mahuta and Jackson as Jacinda did, the party will keep slipping in the polls. And if they stand up to them, the Labour Party may have to deal with a mutiny by its Maori MPs. I don’t envy the new Labour leader at all.

        G – if you want us to believe your beloved blues are up to the job then don’t convey that they aren’t going to be able to get the tough stuff done. This just confirms they are the Labour lite that Redbaiter and KK have been saying. The accusation is that National are becoming believers in the “Te Tiriti espouses a partnership with Maori”. Because of this they don’t actually oppose the culture war we are being subjected to. They might roll back some of the more unpopular aspects but not enough. About as gutless as Key saying he wasn’t going near the anti-smacking legislation that 80% of kiwis disagreed with.
        
        If National don’t show us they will represent us then they are not getting our votes. The argument that means 3 more years of labour greens doesn’t fly.   The Maori Caucus exists as a co-alition Partner. They should campaign as such. They are a separate entity within government, pushing a separatist agenda which Labour never campaigned on.
  
  The current make up of the government has made Labour impossible to govern, as the factions know that they have far more muscle to flex.
  
  We have an Immigration Policy written by Closed Shop Trade Unionists, health policy driven by Race, education driven by different factions of both. Labour has been ripped asunder by identity politics, and Jacinda may well have become sick and tired of herding cats.
  
  Imagine managing a group where one sub group goes off, decides what it wants to do and comes at you with a list of demands. Helen Clark would have told them to piss off.

  Steve O has been saying for a number of months that there is a Maori Elite Coup underway. Jacinda fleeing the ship could be evidence of this.
  
  If that is true then this week we will see Jackson or Mahuta take the leadership of Labour and the country. Ardern has emboldened them and they will want their hands on the reigns until October to enact as much of the Coup as they can.

      Besides after the election there will be no Māori nothing. I believe most of the labour Māori MPs are list MPs, so they will be gone. Kelvin Davis might remain but he is no threat in opposition. So that will leave Labour with a couple of the racist seats.
      
      Not sure whether there will be a Māori caucus within National. So the former members of the Māori caucus are going to have to sit around with no voice for the next three terms while their destruction of these last two terms is slowly undone and their language continues toward extinction like many other languages around the world outside the big six that people no longer speak. Everyone needs to remember that language extinction is a normal thing that occurs with evolution, and it cannot be stopped and it’s not racist and not specific to Māori.
      
      The Māori caucus attempts to force their way in New Zealand has failed. It’s failed much faster than I thought actually. They have turned a lot of people that embraced them into people that now despise them. It won’t be easy to come back from that.

A bit more balance this morning in the reporting of Ardern’s departure. Prebble in his usual insightful way discusses how Ardern has betrayed her fellow MP’s, the party and the voters as a whole. It is an accurate and mature assessment.

Josie Pagini, a centre left commentator has some sensible comment as well. Most of the rest of the commentary on the resignation is shallow, emotive claptrap. Ardern knew full well the day she first stood in front of the cameras she would be subject to criticism, some justified and some just vile and evil. Sadly, it is part of the job. She would have been shielded from a lot of it in any event.

Maybe there is another reason for the sudden copout yet to be disclosed.

Jainda’s incredible but simple luck, in actually just muddling through …

Two items on Thursday were disturbing –
First, for its surprising simplicity – Was William getting more sausages for breakfast the reason for the rift with Harry? A former royal butler thinks so – that simple?
And Second, a meme – how could we all be commandeered to believe something with no evidence – Who said Humpty Dumpty was an egg? – certainly not the rhyme, so how wrong can we be?

And on Thursday – Jacinda Ardern resigned

Like John Key before her, Jacinda Ardern has chosen to protect her legacy and save face in the face of a loss. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s politics and yes Jacinda Ardern can include compassion and kindness in her legacy but by golly, she’s also a political master.
And this, this was checkmate.

So, lucky
Like when Closed Kingdom New Zealand was finally unlocked, after impulsive intuition and hesitancy (see NEXT Magazine interviews), the virus had mutated from Delta to the less serious Omicron.
Lucky, huh? QED

But the simple reality could be that the “go-governance” corner which the Maori Caucus and Jacinda painted herself into was another “accident” – but finally a mistake that has no foreseeable lucky outcome.

So Jacinda has cut-out before her luck really does the same – leaving too many sausages on the plate, and no Waitangi Day bacon and bangers breakfast will see them go – may be why it is really cancelled this year?

So, Jacinda’s replacement will either be chosen to try to still push them uphill to the precipice that Jacinda foresees.

Or a change of direction will leave a group of heavily invested “shareholders” deprived of what was nearly in their grasp, and National will take over, with Seymour demanding the dismantling of Taumata Arowai’s Advisory Council (“total governance”) down to Regional Entity (just “co-governance”), if he is as smart as Neve.

So there will be cries of a second colonisation – even although self-engineered – that may exhaust anyone’s only half-full tank, if they are unlucky enough to be Prime Minister

Conventional wisdom would suggest the Labour Party leadership will be a contest between two tickets; Chris Hipkins/Carmel Sepuloni and Michael Wood/Kiri Allan.

At this point, the Hipkins/Sepuloni ticket would seem to be the most likely. But don’t forget that Wood/Allan will have support from Labour’s Maori caucus, the trade union caucus, and a very significant rainbow caucus.

I would suggest that Wood/Allan will also have the support of another caucus; the National Party caucus. Both Wood and Allan are lightweights who speak in slogans, and both have already had very public policy setbacks.

There is some talk circulating that the real reason the crime minister 3C was crying as it resigned was that under the Magna Carta 1215 she faced prosecution for multiple crimes so jumped ship before this could be enacted.
BTW history majors perhaps a look at actual facts about the Weimar Republic would explain a lot more with regards to 1920’s 1930’s Germany.

Any truth in this? I honestly just don’t know enough.

  Steve, as much as I personally and professionally favour the modern-day equivalent of a Nuremberg Tribunal for crimes against the health and freedom of the population, I don’t think that’s realistic.
  
  What I think is possible, is that the Government-Bureaucrat Complex will throw my ex-NZ-profession under the bus by saying/wailing “we only followed the doctors’ advice!” It’s then possible that when the Knights of the Craven Table realise they are getting thrown under the bus, there will be some juicy leaks.
  
  There is one leak already which shows that the Government / Prime Minister resolutely opposed advice about delaying the follow-up shot from 2 weeks to 8 weeks, which would have reduced the already-known but never-published-in-NZ risk of myocarditis in younger people.
  
  I personally (not professionally) know of seven people in that age group with varying degrees of cardiac crippling who are coldly furious about what happened to them. And unlike me, they’ve got quite a few years and a lot more energy to hold people to account.

    Not quite correct. Parts of Magna Carta are explicitly part of NZ statute law by virtue of the Imperial Laws Application Act.
    But yes. that website is chocks with pseuolegal rubbish. Anyone raving on about Magna Carta, the Nuremberg Code or the Geneva Convention etc is almost certainly full of shit.

Hipkins, as Education Minister, instead of vigorously championing innovation in education, chose to close partnership schools.

By doing so he told New Zealanders that he doesn’t rate student achievement as his top priority – rather that the retention of the state monopoly and preservation of union interests are his primary concern.

But to be honest, that from him was predictable as he was merely doing what he was told by his masters. What really disappoints me are the NZ parents, particularly Maori and Pacific, who keep voting, election after election, for the people who condemn their kids to leave school unable to read, write and add up – after thousands of hours of schooling.

They’re just brainwashed I guess.

I remember when

Something I wasn’t aware of that seemes to need to be important general knowlege.
Was listening to national talkback radio during the week on the subject of learning to swim/drowning.
A woman caller mention that when swimming to help someone in distress you should dive under the water just before you reach them and come up behind them to gain control.
This allows you to avoid being pulled under by the person in difficulties, often with fatal consequences.
Sounded sensible and I don’t recall hearing about this before.

  I learnt that as a kid as well. A person panicking will grab you and force you under. Happened in the Waikato river of all places. I am a good swimmer, not by olympic standards, but I will not drown. Panicking is what kills people.

  I reckon what’s more important is knowing your own limitations before getting into water , rough or otherwise , keeping children close , not diving into unknown water etc .
  
  Anyway every time it gets hot more people drown. Simple as that .
  
  Perhaps councils should fence off all coast lines , lakes and river banks.
  
  That way we’ll all be safe ……….

    Mishaps do happen. I have seen the results from crossing the Mangawhai Bar. Guys just thrown out of boats, because they don’t know what they are doing.
    Rule for me is, if the surfers are out leave your boat on the hard.
    On the Bar keep ahead of the wave behind you, but don’t breach the wave you are on. 50+ years on the water has taught me a few things. Never had a mishap so let’s keep it that way.

  To pass your RLSS exams you have to show that you can employ defensive techniques to escape from a hold if you have been grabbed by the panicking victim.

He will have to justify Co-Governance, critical race theory, fair pay awards, soaring crime, educational failure, wokeism on steroids. Good luck Chris, I suspect you will need it.

Masks do nothing to stop infection, we have spent three years learning in excruciating detail that they do nothing to stop infection</i, we are now setting fire to millions of masks heedlessly purchased at the height of pandemic hysteria when there was every reason to expect that masks would do nothing to stop infection, and still we’re pouring millions of Euros into some kind of retarded national strategic mask reserve that will also surely be incinerated in the coming years because masks do nothing to stop infection. Even more unfathomable is this ridiculous fiction that useless products which do nothing can ever “expire.” What is the fear, that expired masks will do even more of nothing than new masks?

Everything about Corona is such a multifaceted ridiculous farce.

For years now, left-leaning activists have lambasted National for the lack of diversity in its leadership. That’s not withstanding the fact that for a period between 2018 and 2020, both National’s leader and deputy leader were Maori, even if they weren’t Maori enough for Willie Jackson.

So what will the reaction be to Labour selecting a male, heterosexual Pakeha as its new leader, and Prime Minister?

24 hours a day makes and concerns about Hipkins being stale and pale are dispelled and he is suddenly viewed as a Hutt Valley hipster and young father. So I think the mantle of pale and stale will go back to roly-poly.
With all the excitement and biting wrists and things, I think that it overlooked not only that Luxon’s need to backtrack on his comments about misogynism but he claimed to know what the job of PM was like despite that he is yet to achieve that office. I think he’s going to keep self-inflicted pressure on himself and even his smiles and big handshakes are wearing thin. He’s looking like needs a full-time puppeteer.

Remember when we used to twit Jacinda for her ‘Jessica, then Tova’ habit at press conferences?

After watching Chris Hipkins have to suffer the assembled media at his first presser outside the Beehive I can see WHY a politician might restrict the number of people he/she gives ‘the nod’ to.

Chris isn’t yet confirmed as Prime Minister and prefaced his address by telling the journos that and that, as a result, he wouldn’t be disclosing any policies or saying who was gonna be his deputy or even who would be in his team.

I counted at least six shouted ‘Who will be your deputy?’ or ‘What will you be doing about…?’ questions.

Chris was way more polite in his replies than I would have been!

Good news! Rasmussen Reports released results of a survey of likely US voters. It turns out that 57% of likely voters want the CDC investigated by Congress on “how the CDC dealt with issues of COVID-19 vaccine safety”.

Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans, 48% of Democrats and 54% of unaffiliated voters say Congress should investigate how the CDC dealt with issues of COVID-19 vaccine safety. Forty percent (40%) of Democrats, 20% of Republicans and 31% of unaffiliated voters oppose a congressional investigation of the CDC.

Majorities of every racial category – 56% of whites, 51% of black voters and 66% of other minorities – believe Congress should investigate the CDC’s handling of vaccine safety.

  I’m no financial expert, but I’ve been hearing for a while how the petrodollar is going to be taken over by the petroyan.
  That’s going to have a major impact on world markets and particularly the US.

    I read that as being about her appointment as the first Environment Commissioner of Maori descent – and completely overlooked the Awatere-Huata mention.
    
    Clearly the word ‘commissioner’ is not protected as is say ombudsman, for example.

More race based politics spewing forth. How about what Hipkins and Labour will do for ALL NZ’ers? Oh and I thought Maori have been given millions in Treaty settlements in order to help Maori. Maybe not so much.

  So obviously, Ms Ngarewa-Packer will have no problem with all non-Maori holding Chris Hipkins to account on how he delivers for, say, white people. Or Asian. Or South African.
  
  Because if delivering for a specific race is the way she wants to go, then let’s do it. Let’s start looking out for my interests, which are rooted in English heritage. According to the 2018 census, of the six major ethnic groups in New Zealand, European comprised 70.2% and Māori comprised 16.5%.
