      Just watched his interview on Newshub, he is absolutely pathetic, no answers, boosting how hoo he is, refusing to talk about policies, and worryingly, the policies on the bond fire are all good ideas and they are only put aside cause cost of living.         Like reading the report in today’s paper about the new computer translation Intelligence, and what it could do to Maori, as of the Maori so called translations tried it was stated that almost every Maori word had up to ten meanings, as a result the Maori language would not continue.
        Probably dialectic too from differing Iwi of which the census gave about 140 different Iwi.

Just watched the Ireland v England game live .
Saw the World Cup Winners 2023.
Also watched Hurricanes v Waratahs as well as Crusaders v Blues .
There was more rugby in both quarters of mentioned NZ Rugby Games than all of circa 80 minutes between Ireland V England.Virtually a kick fest in Aviva Stadium .
Almost forgot Rugby World Cup Winners 2023.
All Blacks in a canter. As long as the real passionate genuine All Black Coach Ian Foster picks Top Forwards.All Blacks have superb back players.They pick themselves .

      The old problem for the ABs is the opposition always play their best game of the tournament** against the ABs and this time around we just dont have the coaching skill to get us past that level of passion three weeks in a row.

        We are in pool A with France…we could actually lose that game and still progress as 2nd place in the pool so we would get the winners of pool B (SA or IRE) and IF we won that we would be up against France again.

Mayor Brown has lined up road cones as part of “fixing the mess in Auckland”. He reckons its costing $145 million for safety in the city. Mostly excessive use of road cones. Good on him.

He can carry on around the country when he has Auckland sorted.

    We went from Hastings to Lower Hutt Tuesday, back Wednesday of last week. Hardly a kilometer gap before the next cone appeared and don’t ask about the Stop Go people. That too is surely a growth industry.
    
    As an aside it was my first time driving Transmission Gully and it was a pleasure both ways. Steeper than expected but an easy road to drive.
    
    In fact the drive on the expressway from Otaki both ways was excellent too.

  It is ridiculously over the top. 3 trucks and hundreds of road cones taking up about 400 metres of road, narrowing to one lane so 3 people could pick up rubbish at the Haywards Interchange (Upper Hutt). These people were on the steep embankment about as far away from traffic as possible. The chances of something bad happening to them is miniscule. It must be costing a fortune. Good on ya, Wayne.

    Putting in law to require an employer to run a safe(r) workplace is no bad thing.
    
    Is the zealots who constantly drive down the bar of what is “unsafe” that are the problem.
    
    Once upon a time a mower would just mow the motorway shoulders. Then a sign saying “Caution mower in operation” was sufficient. Then some temporary speed signs slowing you down to 80kph. Then 70kph.
    
    Then it really took off. There was the ute with the flashing sign. Then a whole lane was closed. Then the remaining lane was slowed to 50kph. Then the ute was replaced with the truck with the crash barrier.
    
    Why does the truck need a crash barrier? Because its in the fucking way!

    I might have this wrong, but my understanding is that directors can be held PERSONALLY liable if they haven’t ensured all practicable steps are taken to mitigate risk. That skews the calculation for them, because in government and council entities, plus llarge corporates they are weighing their own money against that of shareholders, taxpayers and ratepayers. So they are motivated to spend millions mitigating tiny risks.

I remember when

A good game of rugby spoiled by what must be the silliest rule in sport.
Even then Auckland should have at least had a chance to win the game.
Both ‘knocks on’ after tries had been awarded, involved shoulder contact without arms (or in the first case one arm) being used in tackles that resulted in ball being lost forward.
In Mo’unga it was ‘no arms’ probably penalty try.

    Both tries were reviewed the forward passes weren’t.
    Perhaps my real beef is the selective nature of some of the yellow cards especially when use of arms is used.
    Both of last night’s decisions were because there was danger in wrapping the arms as a second defender was involved.
    However, that is frequently the case when ‘no-arm’ tackles result in yellow cards.

      There are probably irreconcilable differences between the likely members, let alone candidates and leaders, of such a party.
      It would need to scoop up the 100,000 or so who voted last time for the New Conservatives, Advance NZ, Legalise Cannabis, ONE, Vision NZ, Outdoors, TEA, Sustainable NZ, Social Credit, Heartland, and the unregistered parties and independent candidates.
      I wouldn’t feel very encouraged if I were you.

        I just wonder why Batchelor would put so much effort into a protest – 100,000-strong, gathering of the right- wing clans in the Auckland Domain on Election Eve – to be dismissed after the proverbial 9 hours of ‘fame’, when a political party may have more lasting effect and impact.

  According to Trotter if you oppose Labour extremism, their attempts to bring in racially discriminatory structures, models and laws and you believe that everyone should be equal under the law then YOU are the fascist and YOU are the racist.
  
  Exactly how this so he doesn’t explain.

  Once a Marxist, always a Marxist. He truly believes in the class struggle and if the classes run out of struggle–because capitalism made us all free and wealthy–then you create more struggle through wokeness and Green-ness.

Stop Co-Governance meeting yesterday in Orewa was drowned out by Maori activists.
The woke Police did nothing. Many, including myself have made a formal complaint to Police about their conduct. The Police must do their job, not be sightseers.
The meeting went ahead anyway. 4 times Julian Batchelor asked the Police to do their job – nothing.

    Yes it was a Public meeting. There are many charges Police could use. Disorderly behavior, stopping free speech, breaking and entering. The side door was closed and curtains pulled to stop some of the noise. Activists pulled back the curtains and stood by them while two others pulled 4 padbolt locks, opened the doors and stood by them so nobody could close them without using force. That is breaking, even though done from the inside. One Maori woman even resorted to swearing “Fs” and “Cs” Disgusting behaviour!
    Maori said ‘if we want a meeting, come to the Marae’ Well if people visited the Marae and behaved like that they would be removed – even by Police.
    We were all given a book pack and some cards. One of my Partner’s books had pages torn, from a previous meeting. That is destruction of private property!
    
    This is the future of New Zealand. Tribal rule by the Maori Elite. None of these rowdy activists are Tribal Elite. The Elite are the ones who have hogged all of the “Settlement money’ Where have those billions of dollars gone? Certainly not to rowdy activists. Co-Governance must be stopped.
    
    Gravelroad, the Media were there. I saw 5 cameras in all. Media have nothing better to do other than encourage shit stirrers.

      The more they make these meetings uncomfortable and embarrassing the fewer people will attend – that will be their strategy.
      
      The meeting in Mount Eden March 28th is going to be targeted the same way. Martyn Bomber Bradbury has clearly signalled this intention. So how does JB and the Stop Co-governance group combat this?
      
      Is there a way to make this harder ie only people who sign up to attend can be there. T’s and C’s on signing include agreeing to behave to a stated code of conduct or be ejected from the meeting? Hire their own security and remove any troublemakers?

        First thing I would do is get both legal and police advice about any rules and regs applicable to attendance at a future public meeting.
        If a bona fide meeting is disrupted so that it is unable to carry on in a civilised fashion, the chairperson is within their rights to ask those causing the disruption to leave.
        If they don’t leave, the police should be asked to take some action – similar as they did at the anti mandate protests at Parliament.
        Also, the owners of the meeting venue come into play here re health and safety regs applicable to events being held on their premises.

“Death trap” zebra crossings …. in which cycle lanes further encroach on to footpaths (also creating hazards for disabled and blind or deaf people) and creating “islands” for bus commuters or anyone parking and getting out of their cars.

  Co-Governance is a bit like a fascist undertaking. A race based governance structure elevating one race over others. It is anti democratic. When discussions are held about it, a mob comes round to try and shut down the discussion. The media will not discuss Co-Governance except to attack critics of it.

    Yes it is outrageous. The protesters are escalating their aggression against Julian’s meetings. Threats are being made against venue management before the events. I hope I am wrong but I suspect there will be violence. It might take some televised violence to widen the co-governance ‘discussion’ we have been promised.

Had a read in the Herald of James Shawn’s “state of the planet” speech.

“To any political party that wants the Green Party’s support to form a government after the election, let us put it as simply as we can: the Green Party will not accept anything less than the strongest possible climate action,” Shaw said.

Nothing surprising there. But his suggestion list is:

In light of Cyclone Gabrielle and other severe weather events, Shaw said climate action must include boosting rooftops solar panels and community turbines to reinforce power supplies, stronger homes and bridges, more disaster resources given to communities and advancing public transport options.

To my mind, none of those advance “climate action” which has constantly been phrased as reducing emissions as “the only way to stop climate change”. These look like adaptation strategies. Except the bridge thing which is bollocks. Just need to stop slash cooking up rivers, collecting at bridges and exceeding their design parameters

And the public transport thing, which would not help the residents of Puketapu one little bit and from my observations are for a significant proportion of the day huge diesel buses running nearly empty

  At least so far, the Government cannot force people to use public transport. Although if the Greens are part of a Government I expect that to change.
  
  Of course we need public transport. However the situation in Christchurch is insanity. Large buses, most of them diesel, with (mostly) between zero and 10 passengers. How can this be allowed to happen?
  
  Anyway, James Shaw reminds me of an abused partner with Labour. They get screwed over and go back for more. How is he going to be in a position to “demand” that Labour does stuff? He has ruled out a coalition with National. What can he do? It is hilarious.
  
  He makes out that National are the devil. There are only marginal differences between Labour and National on climate change. The REAL reason he can’t go with National is because the communist faction in the Greens would walk away and split the party. It has NOTHING to do with climate change.

Residents are shocked land near them has been purchased for Timaru’s new cemetery and claim the sale has been done hastily without them being consulted.

Emma Gilbert, who lives opposite the land bought for the new cemetery, said she believed there should have been consultation.
