I’m confused. I saw on One Ewes last night, and it’s been beaten up even further in $1uffed today, that Phil Goff committed the unbelievable sin of forgetting to do a karakia to open an event at New Zealand House.

This is being labelled as clear racism, “pushing Maori down and lifting Pakeha up” especially when he said that nobody in the room had experienced a coronation before. The elephant in the room – well, less so since his stomach-stapling operation – was that “King” Tuheita had of course been to one – his own!

This is where the confusion comes in. On the one hand, the British are being accused publicly (by very ill-mannered people who still happily accepted their respective tax-payers funds to get them to London) of colonisation, slavery and profiting from the exploitation of resources and people throughout the world.

If colonisation was so bad, and the British so evil, why in the world does this group of rag-tag tribes from a small area of the North Island insist on copying the exact British royal monarchy, and insist that the former tow-truck driver is “a peer of King Charles”?

He is not. He’s as cringe-worthy as little David Waititi all dressed up in his cowboy hat, decrying how hard Maori have it due to the white man, yet taking the white man’s medicine in the form of another stomach-stapling operation to cure him of his lack of personal responsibility.

I wish these people would make up their minds.

  The sooner NZ becomes a republic the sooner some of Maoridom can move on from the idea that they needed a monarchy of their own to assert their agency.
  But the Kingitanga renouncing their claim to wider leadership is as unlikely as the parasitic Saxe-Coburg Gothas renouncing their wealth and privileges.

    Kudos to you for sticking it out that long. “He” is the correct word to use, he’s a man and always will be. The left are so proficient at firstly blaming the real victim and then becoming the victim themselves.
    
    Rubashkyn, Davidson and now of course Kerekere. Everything is everybody else’s fault and they are blameless.
    
    Side note: I wonder if any journalist has asked James Shaw how he feels about his co-Leader informing us that he – as a cis white male – is responsible for “all the violence in this world”?

      The Police of course spoiled it by hiding around the corner and not doing what Police did in other Countries.
      I am sure they were held back to help the shit media make some news.

  Thomas Sowell, the African American Scholar, has a very low opinion of the current crop of Black American Leaders who seem to derive their power from telling Blacks they must blame Whites for their problems, and that the solutions must first come from Whites accepting their guilt.
  
  These so called Leaders are, in effect, giving Blacks Carte Blanche to act against the laws, which are now percieved as a tool of oppression.

  Waititi is a prime example of a leader who, while thinking he is working for his people, is working against their best interests.

  I was similarly bemused. If you surveyed 100 New Zealanders asking “Who is the Maori king and what is his role?” you may well get 100 blank stares.
  
  Heather du Plessis-Allan yesterday interviewed some “indigenous affairs academic”. He confirmed that it was indeed a grave offence. 😂 He twice referred to Phil Goff causing similar offence “when he was Prime Minister”. 😂

      So he asked just the room who had been there when Queen Elizabeth was crowned. It is almost certain that no-one in that room had.
      The only reason it is in the news is a few people from just one of the iwi got precious. Ask Maori from other tribes what they think of the “Maori King” representing them. That will show what the view is.

  There seems to be an attempt by certain sectors in the media over the last few years to raise the Kingitanga to some form of constitutional importance in NZ.
  
  I had one of the princes of Kingitanga living next door to me (in a sleep-out) when we first shifted to Kaiti. He had no status over here…apart from being known as a thief and a spoilt boy.

  Like the five years there have been of Labour “pushing non-Maori down and lifting Maori Elite up”
  
  And the accusations of “colonisation, slavery and profiting from the exploitation of resources and people throughout the world”, are likely matched by inter-tribal war, tribal invasion (just colonisation on a minor scale, but still deadly when it happens to individuals), likewise subsequent slavery and especially cannibalism – it could be said “would spoil anyone’s day”, but that may be disrespectful

    For some decades Governments of all colours have lacked the capacity capability and will to govern within the principles of good governance. I refer to the recent defection. Disclosure and transparency would have seem all the documentation involved disclosed. It wasnt, I say for two reasons. First because there was a breach of the law and due process and second because the parties involved view the citizens as no more than ignorant peasants.
    I say our current governance processes need root and branch reform. For that I refer to events that occured in France in the late 1700s.

  He was party to elevating Maori customs (when he was a Labour Minister) and now he forgets them.
  
  Meaning Labour are virtue signalling for Maori support and praise … but are not being true when it counts.
  
  So in that context I can understand why offence was taken by some (not saying I agree or disagree), and it exposes Labour as being the hypocrites they are. Oh dear!

On Wednesday afternoon I was sitting with a colleague in Lower Hutt having a coffee outside a café by the Main Street. Suddenly there was the thunderous sound of motorbikes. About 20 motorbikes came past. The latest most flash looking bikes, all ridden by gang members wearing expensive jackets. Following them were some souped up American classic cars in beautiful condition, also driven by gang members. Everyone revved their engines as hard as they possibly could, to make as much noise as they possibly could.

Later that afternoon driving on the motorway back to Masterton we saw some police officers in cars. They were driving along some way back from the same gang members. They were not interacting with them at all. They seem to be providing some kind of escort?

Here are my questions. Is this what we are to expect for the foreseeable future? Gang members who don’t work, being able to afford expensive bikes and expensive cars and expensive clothes. What is the source of their income?
Is it now acceptable for gang members to be as noisy as possible? Do the rules about noisy vehicles not apply any more? Or do they just not apply to gang members?

What we are seeing is law and order breaking down and outlaws essentially being able to do as they like. This is New Zealand in 2023. And if you vote Labour or Greens or Maori party at the next election, please understand your vote will help ensure this chaos goes on for the foreseeable future

    I don’t apologise for repeating this.
    
    If Act and National don’t want fringe parties to take votes from them, then one, or ideally both of them, need to admit they got it wrong over covid. They supported and indeed, advocated stronger bullying measures to compel people to take part in the disastrous experiment that was covid.
    
    Also as I have said before, they have a get out of jail card. They can point to the fact that like the rest of us, they were given misinformation and actually lied to by Labour and the “experts” they surrounded themselves by.
    
    They don’t need to apologise, simply acknowledge what happened was wrong and that they wouldn’t have advocated what they did if they had not been given false information. Acknowledge the harm that was done to many, many families, businesses, individuals and especially to the social fabric of our whole society which was shredded.
    
    Again, that’s not an apology, it’s simply an acknowledgement that things done were wrong, and whether or not it wins votes, its’ the bloody right thing to do and long overdue.
    
    Again I ask, how is it remotely possible that every single one of 121 politicians who are meant to be our representatives, are in lockstep with this total silence?
    
    I’ve written to David Seymour, again, to date no reply, again.
    I’m closely watching Democracy NZ and NZF. There will be tens of thousands (at a minimum) like me. Still angry at how we were treated. Especially angry that not one of the overpaid public servants who sit in the Beehive will advocate for us.
    
    Do these people really not understand why we desperately look around for somewhere that remotely cares for us or our opinions? Do their campaign managers really not understand that ignoring this and hoping it goes away makes the insult even worse?
    
    Instead of berating us and threatening us that we need to toe the line or it will be our fault if the nightmare Labour/Green/Maori coalition win the election, have a look in the mirror. Ask your representatives WHY will you not even admit that hundreds of thousands of decent NZers had their lives devastated and are still struggling to get their lives on track again? WHY?
    
    If this election is lost by National/Act it will be nobody’s fault but their own. They have the power, they have the tools and the infrastructure, they just need to do the right thing. Then we can get on with the next battle, the racist state being created right under our noses.

        Chuck Bird – that’s not what I said. If you willfully twist what I said which is a very simple message, then you are a prime example of why there is a problem in this country.
        
        I’ll make it really simple, do you not think Act should admit they were wrong re their support for the covid response? Yes or no? Or do you think ignoring the whole nightmare of the last 3 years and hoping it will be forgotten is a good strategy?
        I’ve pointed out, they can say their actions were based on the information they received from the government. It’s an easy win for them. Worded correctly it will keep 90% of potential voters happy.
        Mainly though, it’s the right thing to do.
        
        I didn’t say Act should admit they were wrong on abortion. That’s a debatable topic. But they were wrong on covid. An important distinction.
        
        Admit it. Say it won’t happen again. Then let’s get on with ousting the wasters in power destroying the country.

        Clearly I don’t have the specific details, only the families and medical staff involved will know those. But this was one of the biggest deceptions of the whole fiasco, the deliberate manipulation of statistics to support a bs narrative.
        
        ‘with’ v ‘off’ covid was right up there along with claiming your were unjabbed until 2 weeks after you got the needle in your arm. Anyone dying or going to hospital in that period was deemed ‘unvaccinated’. What a nonsense.

      The whole vaccination approach is in need of a serious overhaul.
      Regardless of the reason why, people seem to have lost their confidence in the need, benefit, or both.
      Are people sick of being told what they have to do, feeling that official advice is no longer trustworthy, or in need of research, they have trust in, showing the benefits of each type of vaccination.
      Perhaps the now endless list of need for vaccinations is leading to indifference.

        House – I understand the thinking, but the difference is that we aren’t in a situation of uncertainty now. We have the receipts. We have the evidence. All of the policies used caused more harm than good.
        
        Those outcomes were warned about by many people from the beginning. They were censored, smeared and de platformed. No alternative opinion was permitted. No discussion was entered into, this was what set my alarm bells going very early on. The co-ordinated attacks on Simon Thornley and Covid Plan B were eye opening.
        
        Ardern was 100% wrong and it isn’t too difficult to prove that. Ignoring the truth isn’t a sensible policy by political parties is my point. It might seem like one, but this is too big an issue.
        
        You can get away with that when you do something stupid like Marama Davidson did when blaming cis white men for all violence. Duck for cover, don’t talk about it, people move on.

        Worded correctly, an acknowledgment of the mistakes would imo get the 10 point margin which it should be at a minimum for National/Act right now.
        It can’t be challenged, the evidence is available. Vaccines don’t work for covid, nor do masks, nor do lockdowns. Never did, never will.
        
        The nurse is wrong and it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to explain that to them. Their problem is that as someone on the frontline, they were exposed to even more misinformation than the rest of us.

  If the IRD were doing the job taxpayers pay them for they would be taxing each Gang member using the asset accretion provisions of the Tax legislation. The IRD have the power to calculate what they think your assets are at the beginning and end of each tax year and derive an income from that and issue a tax notice. Not many know that tax law is the only area where the citizens has to prove themselves innocent. Unless the citizen can successfully convince the Court the IRD tax notice is incorrect the Court will order the tax and any penalties paid. And if not paid assets can be seized and sold to pay the tax and penalties. Remember it was tax evasion that saw Al Capone jailed.
  IMHO if the Government had the will they could cripple the Gangs. But they wont. Instead they support them and give them Millions of Dollars a year. F…..g unbelievable.

Marama Davidson or James Shaw do not officially email or write a letter to the Speaker, saying Kerekere has resigned from the Green Party, she will remain an Independent Member and just needs to email the Speaker to tell him that the Greens no longer can vote on her behalf and she will vote independently.
  Again, apparently, she can join the Maori Party as long as she does not officially tell the Speaker.

    Just by the front door there is a bookshelf with a drop down door. That is where the 45 lives. Should all be locked away but do you say “hold on, I need to get my gun?”

The DoJ had to throw the book, and the kitchen sink, at them, because if they hadn’t, that would have been to acknowledge that the Regime is illegitimate, which was the contention of those in attendance. They are basically saying that their entrenched power cannot ever be challenged without the full weight of the sate coming down on the challenger. This, in “Our Democracy.”
  
  They have to go after as many people as possible, and for whatever they can no matter how tenuously involved or linked to events, because not doing so is to leave a future challenge to the power open. The Green Party is refusing to say how long the investigation into its MP Elizabeth Kerekere will take – in turn fuelling frustration from the party base.

      A lot of folk possibly don’t realise that back in the horse power days a huge amount of land and energy went into growing crops to feed the beasts .
      
      Then we had the wonders of petroleum which must have freed up so much land for food production for people ( and exports ?) making us healthier and richer.
      
      Today we’re going full circle and re dedicating land , not to food production for people , but to farming carbon indulgences so rich folk can go on ‘guilt free’ holidays and other high standard of living luxuries…….

        One thing I learned quickly once we decided to move off grid was that there is no such thing as free energy. That energy can’t be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed.
        Our current ICE is as efficient as it has ever been. I don’t have the ability to do all the relevant calculations, but I seriously doubt that once every aspect of resource collection, manufacture, distribution, eventual disposal etc are all factored in, I find it hard to imagine EVs being better for the environment than ICEs.

    I’ve been labouring under the impression that people like University Professors, Prime Ministers, and learned Judges were more intelligent than me by far. However, some if not most of them have jumped on today’s faux Reigion (aka Man Made Climate Change) Band Wagon.
    Why is this so? Is there something in for them I’ve overlooked?

    McGregor was speaking on the basis that it was Russia v Ukraine. It isn’t and never was. It’s Russia v the US and NATO in a proxy war waged to destroy Russia. All Ukraine is doing is filling the body bags and leasing their flag.
    
    The Americans learned a lot from Vietnam. The folks back home don’t like the reality of war, best to keep it on the TV and ‘over there’.

        Matt Long – I believe it’s their long term goal. I might be wrong, but studying events since the end of WW2 it seems to be the natural progression.
        When the Berlin Wall came down we thought that was the end of the cold war. The US and NATO had said they wouldn’t encroach a single inch towards Russia. Now they are on their border.
        It might be all just coincidental but I doubt it.
        
        Russia is a threat that they can’t overthrow as simply as they do with other countries.

The question that does not seem to have been broached, so far, is whether it is two disgruntled Maori members or a more organised Maori plan.
Have the Hipkins policy reversals spooked Maori who expected continuing advancement of their co-governance roles?
Would increased seats for Ti Pati Maori increase the Maori influence of Leftwing policy.

Peeking over the Herald pay wall, I found in the Friday edition Matthew Hooton blaming the MMP electoral system for the platitudes of Hipkins and Luxon.

Have to agree that the coalition-government entailed by MMP is rooting the country.

A smidgen of Hooten’s view:

“The overwhelming majority of New Zealanders will be furious if the likes of Tamihere [Maori Party president], Manji [Raf Manji, Opportunities Party] or Peters again decide the election. But we shouldn’t make it personal. They’re just playing MMP the way its rules encourage.”

Hooton suggests Japanese style single transferable vote as a better electoral system.

Regardless, as Hooton writes, MMP is a failed experiment.

What’s happened to Huntly power station’s generation capacity?
I thought it was something like 1000MW

  Also, there is no “solar” listed on that page. Thought that there was solar already working.
  
  There are about 46,000 home solar Installations in New Zealand which. The average size of these installations is 5.7 KW. So, on average, can create about 260 MW per hour or 900 MW per day. Those don’t seem to be listed either.

    Home solar wouldn’t be counted because the page is telling us about transpower generation. Home solar would reduce the amount of power other generation would need to come up with.
    The 260MW figure would only happen if all houses were producing their maximum, which I doubt would happen very often. I’m not sure there is an easy way to tell how much rooftop solar is contributing as it just means that the homes they’re installed in just draw less power.
    You seem to be confusing rates and amounts. The transpower page displays the rate power is being produced, not the total MWhr. Rooftop solar might produce 900MWhr per day, but the maximum rate would still only be 260MW.

      Hopefully as home solar becomes more mainstream it gets a mention somewhere how much energy it creates real-time.
      
      900 MWh per day is a relative conservative estimate assuming only 3.5 hours of maximum output per day.
      
      There are rainy days where our system produces very little but good days where our 5.3 Kw array produces 32+ Kwh.
