    Any gaseous molecule with a net dipole moment (i.e. non symmetric with unequal atoms, as per CO2 which is V shaped) traps IR. That’s how IR spectroscopy works.
    
    That greenhouse gases make our planet warmer is simple fact; if earth had no atmosphere, its temperature would be its black body temperature which would be about 40 degrees colder. (Most of the difference is due to water vapour, which is alleged to have positive feedback from CO2).
    
    I’ve used the lab gear myself, made the CO2 and other gases myself, seen the spectra myself, done the black body calcs as an exercise myself.
    
    This sort of thing makes non climate cultists look really stupid. By all means dispute CO2 as an insignificant contributor, or point at orbital cycles, but saying CO2 doesn’t absorb solar heat is a non starter.

      IR spectrometry identifies specific wavelengths in the IR band that are absorbed and to what degree they are- not emitted. The EMR absorbed provides the energy that raises the molecules to a higher state and cause the dipole molecules to oscillate and vibrate. Are you saying that this produces more energy than was absorbed? Because if you are then by simply having a box of CO2 and shining the appropriate wavelengths into it will create energy. I don’t think so.
      
      You state as “a fact” that greenhouse gasses make the planet warmer but what you have said has no relationship to this fact. But hey what do I know, I’m only a stupid non-climate cultist.

      The calculations you are missing are:
      
      how much heat does co2 absorb,
      
      what proportion of global warming does the proportionally small amount of CO2 in the atmosphere contribute as apposed to Earth’s variable sun orbit and therefore distance from the sun, sun flares, and natural events?
      
      And last but not least, what is man’s contribution to rising CO2 levels compared to the recent largest volcano ever recorded, in Tonga, etc?

        There’s a lot of selective data being pushed, earlier temperatures nudged downwards, plotting data measured by one means onto those measured by another, and downright lying. These are not the actions of scientists who can honestly say there is global warming, either anthropogenic or other. These are the actions of academic grifters.

      I’ve used the lab gear myself…
      
      A lab is not the atmosphere. Even if CO2 DID absorb heat, the majority of CO2 is on the ground, not up in the ionosphere. If CO2 was mostly in the ionosphere plants would not grow.
      
      AND the percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere is insignificant compared to water vapour. There is no CO2 reaches the ionosphere. That is just a theory.
      
      Sunlight has to pass through nearly 10,000 km of atmosphere before it reaches the CO2.
      
      By calculation, at 10,000 km altitude the CO2 is less than .005 ppm. But I suspect the equations are not linear and that figure is overstated.
      
      Before setting up lab experiments always you always check the obvious first.
      
      All gases absorb heat. That is high school science. Tell us something we do not know.

  And he doesn’t even mention that the Satellite UAH data set only starts in 1979 when global temperatures where at a local minimum having dropped over the previous 35 odd years. If the full range of data were provided (the satellite data goes back to the 1960s) AND if they used an earlier baseline, which would make more sense, the graph would look completely different.

    Not necessarily. Prohibitions against homosexuality are very strong in Islam and trans is seen as less problematic than gay. In Iran if you are a gay couple then you have to decide which one of you is the woman and they are officially recognised as such, after compulsory surgical reassignment.

    This guy was struck off by the Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal. Yet presumably if his employer was a christian school his behaviour would be exactly what his employer expected of him. We aren’t told what his employer thought of his behaviour but there is a serious problem here when a professional accrediting body removes people from the profession for behaviour that some employers would potentially encourage. They also specifically say that his christian world view is inappropriate for teaching and yet christian schools go out of their way to employ staff with exactly that worldview. They do so because that it was the parents who choose to send their children to such schools want.

      So a teacher chose to uphold his religious beliefs over the personal decision made by a student.
      I agree with others who have said the teacher might be happier and more secure working in a religious based school.
      I don’t care what people call themselves. I don’t see it as my business.
      A while back an acquaintance announced that they were changing their first name, No explanation offered. The name they chose could be used for any gender.
      So now I call her/him/they X instead of Z.
      Big deal.
      Has it made any difference to my dealings with this person? No.

        This struck me too, if it really was to call Martha now an Arthur, then to refuse to do that is just rude and bullheaded.

        This issue then is preffered pronouns is changed to be REQUIRED (imaginary) pronoun, and we should not be legally forced to play games with the mentally ill or attention starved.
        **So we should look at these case by case, but this is made all the harder given that black and white battlefronts that are being created by internal culture wars & online algorithms.

        I’ve only referred to the Teacher as a Zealot, and his actions as stated in the article match the definition of that word. Anyone else who thinks I’m referring to them is projecting.
        I am absolutely looking at this on case by case basis. This case as presented by the article provided, and a clear question asked by LeeC, Hero or Phobic.
        I don’t need backing, I’m well aware of how to garner green ticks in this forum, and that they’re not reflective of ‘right or wrong’. And yes nuance is in short supply.

        Your hypocrisy is your lack of tolerance for the Teachers belief- however badly he expressed himself -yet you say the Teacher has to pander to the Students belief.
        And up to the point when the student did not show respect for his Teachers beliefs there is nothing to show in the Article that the teacher cant separate his belief from his teaching.

        There’s a long thread particularly pushed by CRM114 that the teacher’s a zealot because he wouldn’t accept a compromise of using only the student’s assumed name and not having to use their preferred pronouns, but this shows a distinct lack of understanding of the teacher’s position and beliefs. In simple terms, the student is trying to make the teacher acknowledge something that is not true ie, they are now a male and not a female. Whether you like it or not, the teacher has at least some level of right to not be forced to acknowledge and abet what he believes is a lie and a sin. Whether he uses him/he instead of she/her, or uses Arthur instead of Martha, both of these are stating something as true that isn’t true. Under his right to religious freedom, surely the teacher has this right, and this is a long way from the zealot accusation as the teacher was not trying to force the student to repent of their sins, only to be allowed to not encourage them down a path they felt was sin. In fact the students demand to be recognized as a male not a female to the point of effectively forcing the teacher to not only lose their job but lose their ability to exercise their chosen profession seems much more zealous.

        In the past I’ve referred to the Greens (generally) as Zealots, and it’s garnered a bunch of green ticks.
        Now I’m referring to ONE Teacher, whose actions AS reported fit that description, as a Zealot.
        And suddenly, because this Teacher happens to be Christian, it’s one of the worst slurs ever. Lots of people are projecting their own insecurities here.
        There’s more than one way to be a Christian, and I don’t subscribe to this teacher version.

    The Trans movement is specifically targeting Christian Schools to ensure they cannot act according to Christian doctrine.
    I expect activists will infiltrate Christian Schools with troubled children to create incidents of trans “trauma” to either force schools to compromise their beliefs or be shut down.

      A really great book to read if you want to understand Marxist social manipulation methods and Woke in general is Valclav Havel’s excellent essay The Power of the Powerless published by Vintage books one of the most influential pieces of literature in the East Block and credited with being the guiding manifesto uniting the solidarity movements across the Soviet empire. It’s truly enlightening and at the same time disturbing in it’s relevance to how the modern Left are employing the same tactics.

  I see it differently. If I had a colleague named Mary who told me she was now a man named Fred, I would comply with how she wanted to be addressed. Because it is no bother to me. So long as she/he is a friendly and competent colleague I don’t care.
  
  However in this case the teacher board, acting with the power of the state, is seeking to control the teacher’s right to free speech. That is a dangerous and slippery slope. Also, unlike my scenario with a colleague, this is a child. Children deserve guidance from teachers if they display signs of delusion. For example a teacher would not affirm an anorexic girl telling the teacher she is “fat”. If he did agree with her she was fat he would be condemned.
  
  Unfortunately we are a long way from peak madness here. It will take more young adults to realise the irreversible mistakes foisted on them by parents and teachers when they were children.

      The teacher in this case values his view of religion and his concern for the eternal wellbeing of the child as he sees it more than compliance with the socialist state.
      Communist countries attempted to stamp out Christianity except for those compromised by the state, this is among the first serious steps to remove Christians from positions of influence in New Zealand, as the education system continues down the road to failure and regressive indoctrination this trend will accelerate.

      It works both ways. The kid is ‘identifying’ as something they aren’t. The teacher believes in a sky God. It can be scientifically proven that the kid is not a different gender to the one they were born. The other is a faith, but it can’t be proven to not exist.
      
      The only zealots in this day and age are the trans ideologues, along with the climate loons, the worst of the Branch Covidians who still thinks vaccines are safe and effective or that masks actually work.

        The teacher doesn’t have to accept it, but they should give the student the respect to address them by their chosen gender. Most of these kids are trying to find themselves, left alone some will end up being gay, a handful Trans, most will just go back to identifying as straight gender they were born as

      I agree that we can’t consider refusal to use a name that a person wants to be known by as “Free Speech” ; it is just basic courtesy.
      
      I DO support push back against people demanding the use of silly imaginary pronouns – but a failure to use someone’s name is not a religious issue or one of heaven or hell & eternal damnation.
      I know multiple people who have changed surnames, or even taken their wife’s name, and I would be a dick if I insisted “my religion” was “patriarchal”, and I persisted in naming this particular beta-male with his name from high school.
      Instead I accept his new Facebook page, and will save any snickering about this to amongst our former classmates and peers only {he is onto wife #3}.
      Certainly not an issue to force in the workplace, classroom or within any other place: unless causing hurt was the intention.
      
      The trans movement however might want to consider that it has alienated and chosen to go into war over matters that people feel strongly about, so it might be met with contempt and hostility as a matter of course.
      
      Gay rights & sexual orientation for the most part did/do not affect other people at all directly, but Trans rights involve changes around the use of gendered spaces, access to women’s sports, or compel behavior or language from others.
      The great amount of negative attention they receive is 100% on their own conduct.
      A man in a dress is no longer camp or funny or cute to me. It is the uniform of an enemy, I am honestly sad to say.

I don’t have an issue with people changing their names either, but when that change reflects a lie about that person then should I as a Christian be forced to sustain the lie by using the new name? The name change details aren’t given, but it’s reasonable to assume that the change reflected a change in gender, such as Martha to Arthur.       Except the teacher didn’t “push his own religious views on (the student)”. Read the article, the student made a request and the teacher explained it was against their religion. No pushing, just a statement of fact. If the student had shown some respect for the teachers strongly held belief the thread would have stopped there. Instead the student took things further at which point the teacher expanded on their belief.
      At no point was the teacher pushing their belief, they were only asking to be allowed to behave in alignment with their belief. This accords with what the student was allowed to do. The student believed they were a male in a female body and arranged for a physical change to reflect this – so lived by their belief, but they then tried to force the teacher to not live by his belief. Sorry, the student is the zealot, trying to force their belief onto the teacher.

    I’m fortunate not to have staff or colleagues, but if I did, and one of them told me they had changed their gender I’d politely point out that they can identify as anything they choose, but I also choose not to participate in their delusion.
    
    Does it matter what we call them? I think, 100% YES it matters. Anyone who is deluded enough to imagine they can change their gender (or sex, exact same thing) is clearly mentally unwell and almost certainly not fit for work. Words matter.

      I feel like people are missing the point. No one should be forced to adhere to another’s beliefs. Beliefs by definition can not be proven and are essentially someone’s opinion. The education system should not revolve around feelings and opinions. It should revolve around facts. There is too much emphasis on the belief system of the teacher. It is irrelevant in this particular case as the teacher’s belief is in complete alignment with the facts, science and reality. The child was born a male and will always be a male. This is called science, not religion.
      
      I strongly support the idea that religion/cult/belief systems should not be allowed in our schools. However in this case I only see one side pushing a “belief” system, and it isn’t the teacher.

  Its a bit of both.
  
  Firstly I would give him top marks for moral integrity.
  But then I thought “when I was at school we were all known by our surname” If there were two of the same surname then you would be Smith.J or Smith. B. But since then the teaching profession has gone all “lets be friends and use first names”.
  If the teachers had not gone all silly then there would be no problem in this instance.
  Also the school should be using the students legal name. If the student changed legal name then no problem.
  The fact that the school enforced a non- legal name is worrying – it sort of gives approval to using any old name at any time.
  
  Its one of the problems that exist in the rental area. People will supply by email a pre-tenancy application using one name but when they go the next step they use a different name. Its often done by maori females who seem to have a maori name for the Maori world and a different name for the general world. What the landlord or agent doesn’t know is which is the legal name – so its a risk that’s not worth taking so the applicant loses out.

        Ghost, you have a very naive view of education if you think teachers “keep their beliefs at home”. ALL teaching is done from a belief system, and it’s impossible to separate what you do and say from what you believe. I recommend you take a hard look at your daily life and see how much your interactions with those around you are impacted by your belief. And even believing in “nothing” is a belief.
        As I said earlier in this thread, the teacher only wanted to be allowed to live by his beliefs. The so called compromise was just another attempt to make the teacher compromise on his beliefs. No one should be forced to compromise on their beliefs in this way.

    Teachers are there to teach, but also to provide a guidance. A guidance as to the standards of behaviour, social interaction and so on. It’s called the pedagogy.
    It is all very well to talk about “respect” and “pushing beliefs” but where do we draw the line? Are 14 years old children to dictate now that 2 plus 2 equals 5?
    In the end both sides are wrong. The teacher pushing his fundamentalist Christian beliefs in the state (non-religious) school and the Teaching Council pushing irrational gender ideology.

      Look. Do you guys understand how narrative control works? What is happening is the state and the MSM are trying to set the stage that this conflict is one of ideology vs ideology. When viewing the issue through this lense, it appears that one belief system is no better than the other belief system. They are equals as there is no factual basis behind belief systems. Therefore theoretically, trans ideology deserves equal respect to religious ideology. I know that will upset some people here.
      
      But the FACT is, that this is not a battle of trans ideology vs Christian ideology. It is a battle of trans ideology vs science. The argument is only being reduced or confused as a battle of ideology vs ideology, because the trans movement knows that this is a battle than can be won. Trans ideology cannot win a battle against facts and science.

      2021, Mr taught a student in his Year 10 mathematics class.
      During that time, the student was transitioning genders from female to male.
      The student’s preferred (male) name was recorded on Kamar, the School’s
      online portal. Mr refused to call the student by his preferred name
      and pronouns. Instead, he continued to call the student by his previous
      (female) name and pronouns. In or around February 2021, Mr had
      a meeting with the student during a morning tea break and stated that
      transitioning was against his religion. The student came up with a compromise
      and suggested Mr call him by his preferred name but could use the
      pronouns she/her. Mr refused to agree to this and said that “he
      didn’t want [the student] to go down the path of sin” or words to that effect.
      Mr met with (the principal) of the School twice in March 2021 and
      confirmed his refusal to use the student’s preferred name and pronouns. He
      told (the principal) that he would not follow his instruction to call the student
      by his preferred name and pronouns because of his religious beliefs.

It is impossible for ideologies to compete against facts and science.   First, I will assume the news report isn’t an accurate reflection of the events. The so-called reporter probably hates the teacher and Christianity in general. This is another propaganda piece to advance the cause.
  However, it’s a fact that a girl cannot become a boy. This is not something humans can do, as we cannot flap out arms to fly. The teacher is right to point out the truth. This girl is in fact suffering under a delusion and no one has to comply with that delusion. It’s important that we are free to speak the truth – that’s the first casualty in war.       I wrote that we should be free to say the truth that a person cannot change sex. That’s not something humans can do. Let’s be very clear on why the teacher was disciplined. He won’t go along with the lie of the trans movement. Everything else, which may or may not have happened (the MSM are liars) is an excuse. It’s another way to bash Christians. However, this is a scientific argument as it’s a scientific fact that individuals cannot change sex.

Firstly, not an army’s job and secondly, most certainly not the NZ Army which does not have the capacity to handle its primary function of defending the realm, let alone taking on social reformation of young crims. National needs to rethink this before it becomes the same “over-promise, under-deliver” as useless Labour.

      AGree that it would be best if there is something gained from the time with the Army: but on the other hand – 6-12 months with the army is a way to remove ramraiders and young crims from society.
      Other options are either Catch & Release or Jail along with the adult crims (which has the it ‘makes them worse’ theory).
      
      Of these options, Catch and Release is by far the worst, Jail is much much better IMO, and perhaps a 3rd way is this With The Army idea.
      Give it a go. Worse that happens = youth offenders away from their broken homes and away from the storefronts.

    He is now 23. All of that helped him to view things differently. He started bodybuilding, taking some powdered liquid drink. He joined a gym, even though I have a home gym in the garage. There is much more in his gym.
    Then – a job opening. He now works at the gym as well as works out.

Last night there was a attack on three people in Albany, Auckland after a person entered several businesses and struck customers with a weapon believed to be a axe.
In another attack a person was robbed and left unconscious outside a Auckland Bar after a pokie machine win.
In another blatant attack Police search for a thief following a Liquor store robbery with Police still looking g to identify the culprit who stole Liquor and money.
This is a daily occurrence in New Zealand nowadays with a Government more set in its ways of keeping Maori out of our Prisons than helping victims of crime .

  Here’s the story going across the Chinese Wechat, as to why these businesses were attacked (or rather, the customers).
  All are owned by the same guy, according to the Chinese jungle drums.
  And this business owner is one of the people who is SHAFTING the recent Visa holders, who pay big money to come here to NO JOB.
  The Indian businesses are exploiting their fellow citizens, and the Chinese are exploiting the Chinese.
  
  I know of some other stunning (property) scams going on from inside stories, and everyone involved is at fault but some are worse predators and criminals than others.
  But in this case or preying on your countrymen, sounds credible, and this is why it was both about a grudge/revenge, as stated, not racial, and yet 3 different businesses all attacked (or rather, the innocent customers).
  Somebody snapped.
  
  The reversal from nobody comes into NZ, to a rush of tens of thousands without checks and balances, means immigrations NZ is making a balls-up in the other direction.

  To be fair, Simon, the current government is cocking up on so many fronts, National is having to manage it’s opposition attacks to suit.
  
  FWIW, CCDHB was doing the Maori and PI priority since 2020. However, politically speaking, it was best to wait until this policy was widely reported in public, as to oppose this before risked being labelled with the ‘R’ word. I think the timing was well done.

  This only came out because an unnamed Auckland surgeon leaked a document to Barry Soper late last week. Dr Shane Reti was quick to condemn the policy yesterday:
  
  Race has no place in surgical priorities and the Government should immediately drop ethnicity as one of the criteria surgeons have been told to use to rank patients.
  
  While there has been historical inequity that has disadvantaged Māori and Pasifika people, the idea that any government would deliberately rank ethnicities for priority for surgery is offensive, wrong and should halt immediately.
  
  The way to improve Māori and Pasifika health is through better housing, education and addressing the cost of living, not by disadvantaging others.
  
  As a doctor, I would refuse to rank patients based on their ethnicity and I completely side with surgeons who are alarmed and affronted by this priority tool implemented by Health New Zealand.
  
  A National government would not rank patients by ethnicity.

    You have me confused. Walking around barefoot is good for you, it helps improve your immune system. My son goes barefoot everywhere except in those few places where it’s illegal or dangerous, like building sights. He’s almost never sick.

The $250m “mistake” in the WCC’s speed reduction plan is very serious. Not only was it not picked up by council staff or the so-called “peer review panel” but it indicates a far deeper problem.
How could anyone now trust the figures for anything this council proposes ? Should previous project costings be re-examined to search for hidden flaws, or deliberately-concealed figures ?

I wondered what all the fuss is about. Matrimonial Property Act deals with division of property when a relationship breaks down. But what happens when three people (a married couple plus another woman sharing the same bed) have been living together for more than three years and then all three go their separate ways. Issue is – can there be a three way division of property?

      Actually it was 9 judges in all sitting in 3 courts. 6 judges in favour (3 Appeal Court, 3 Supreme Court) and three against (1 High Court, 2 Supreme Court). There was a 10th judge – the Family Court judge who (I think) was not sure and kicked the thing upstairs).

US Elections theory

Was thinking about the contenders this morning and came up with a prediction that I haven’t heard from anywhere else.

The first female president will be Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom will be the Dem candidate for the next election.

Detail
FBI and treasury have been slow walking investigations into the Biden family. Once Trump is nominated as the republican candidate OR when the authorities can no longer keep things quiet, Treasury will start to leak out details of Biden corruption. If this is not enough to convince Biden to step down, the FBI will finally release their investigation. At this point Biden will resign and Kamala will take the reign. It will be as shorter raign as possible. Just prior to the election Harris will pardon Biden. This is a poison pill for Harris but she gets to be the first female president and probably a nice role in a future Dem government.

Newsom has been campaigning but not announced. He is doing this while he waits for Biden to be removed.

This will deal with the Biden problem (mental issues and probably corruption issues) AND get rid of the hugely unpopular Harris. The Dem assumption is that Newsom can easily beat Trump. If the candidate is not Trump, Newson is ready as he is already campaigning against Desantis.

This is my bold prediction !

    Not arguing they are not. I believe they are slow walking the investigations (as reported by whistle blowers). If there is something, and there would seem to be, its going to come out. The question is when.
    
    Personally I think Biden can beat Trump at this point (even though recent polls say otherwise) and I am sure Newsom could. Trump might be #1 with Republicans but he is poison to what little swing vote exists. Regardless of if one likes Trump or not, you have to look at electability and its the swing voters that count.

      Rob, Biden can only beat Trump if there is another cheating fiasco. Boxes and boxes of 2020 ballots are still turning up. They were used and then removed after the crooked counts were done. The whole World knows Trump won. Democrats cheated, and they will do it again if they can. Even if caught but the result stands, they don’t care.
      Democrats are a special breed of people. They are greedy to the tune of trillions of dollars. The hierarchy are World controllers in their minds. They don’t care about WW3 and nukes, as long as they are rich beyond what we can imagine.
      They want to destroy the GOP, the Republicans, even the RINOs. Trump is in the way and dedicating his latter years to this. This is not new, it has been going on for decades. Does anyone remember JFK? I was in Intermediate School then, 1963, and could not believe it. The Democrats are ultimately responsible, JFK going in a direction they did not want.

  Once could be a genuine mistake. Four times is no mistake. Meanwhile, Biden has turned out to be everything that Trump was alleged to be. A dithering demented corrupt warmonger. Projection much? For example, Hillary illegally kept classified documents on her private server. Then when caught, formatted all data and even physically destroyed devices. Destruction of evidence. She was never president so did not have the authority to declassify these files. In comparison, Trump looks like a choir boy.

Looks like the people prosecuted and found guilty of unlawful behaviour at the Parliament protest earlier this year (as reported on TV1news last night) were a couple of green hippies from Golden Bay.
So not unruly, red neck farmers then?
Way to go for the secret vigilante group though, who all got connected to hunt down this couple using the internet and social media. They would not allow their names or faces to be used in the report as the brave warriors who outed the criminals.
Am guessing there will be more of this coming up to the election. “Unsuitable candidates” must be shut down.

      If a crime had been committed, wasn’t it the job of the Police to track down the alleged offenders, arrest them and so on? They have the technical resources and legal power to do it.
      I find it disquieting that a bunch of anonymous and faceless amateurs got together and took it upon themselves to identify and hunt out these people on the assumption that they were guilty.
      They kept their own identities hidden.

Drove across the Motueka bridge yesterday and noticed a massive build up of rubbish (trees etc) against the bridge and also the river has changed as there is a large build up of gravels above and below the bridge. The removal of both is something councils appear to either be slow at or, in the case of gravels, against.
Question: How much of the flooding in recent times in NZ is because of green leaning councilors and staff not wanting to take gravel down to average water levels?
I understand that too much take would impact water tables/irrigation in summer and I don’t want my fishing impacted but surely some pragmatism needs to be applied?

    The gravel in the river built up and up under the bridge.
    Not much done despite repeated begging by the locals to the council about shifting some of the build up out.
    Then one rain fall too many and the bridge was completely swept away.
    Now council, aka ratepayers, has to provide new bridge.

  There are no votes in clearing debris and accumulated gravel from a river channel, in order to keep it flowing. Many more votes in ‘posturing’ after the tragedy.
  The introduction of Regional Councils, mainly composed of academics and urbanite councillors resulted in the failure to maintain the rivers, stopbanks and environs, result flooding!

If it’s ok to prioritise people based on race for healthcare outcomes. Then why aren’t they targeting by race for the factors they know cause these gaps.

Imagine if they said, only high risk ethnic groups will be banned from buying cigarettes, unhealthy foods and alcohol. .

These are obviously ridiculous and intrusive ideas that we reject in a free and liberal society as illiberal, intrusive and racist. People have a right to make their choices and live there lives even if they lead to poorer outcomes. Choice.

So it’s absolutely impossible to control the outcome if you can’t control the input. And NZers of all races absolutely don’t want to have our lives controlled by the govt. We just want everyone to be given healthcare in a timely manner and to a high standard. That’s not happening.

  I didn’t like that the speaker brought her back in to ask her question. Nope. With speakers before him if you get kicked out your question goes with you. Sometimes the speaker has allowed someone else in the party to ask it. This speaker is turning out to be just as bad as mallard.

Trouble in paradise

Te Pāti Māori has lost one of its most prominent candidates, Heather Te Au Skipworth.

Skipworth had been announced as its candidate for Ikaroa Rāwhiti before ex-Labour minister Meka Whaitiri defected to Te Pāti Māori, and replaced Skipworth as its candidate in the eastern Māori seat.

Meanwhile, Labour is gearing up to confirm its candidate to go up against Whaitiri.
