      Last year 4 times to Hospital in an Ambulance for chest pain and pain down the left arm. After MRI the pain was going from a rotor cuff tear in the shoulder and pain going across the chest. No heart attack.
      Medication keeps me sane atm.

  Yep Greybeard, a great game. Wouldn’t entirely agree that England won’t declare again though! Australia were carried by Usman Khawaja, he put in a hell of a batting performance, though I wouldn’t bet against Smith and Labuschagne making some tall scores before the series is over. And if any of the surfaces have some pace and bounce, a good few of Englands batters will struggle a bit more.

      Re India and Pakistan Tony, are you alluding to games being over in 3 days? If so, these days it’s more India that the other two. And I’m old enough to remember them turning square and bouncing then going through a phase of flat as hell before getting back to now, turning square and bouncing (until India are ahead and then the pitches are roads). Difference these days though, is a lot of test batters don’t have the technique to counter sharply turning pitches, plus they have the added disadvantage of being lbw more often when trying to defend with their pad because of DRS.

A Tale of 2 Teachers.

1st teacher fabricated grades for work not done by students, forged the head of department’s signature, and lied about what classes she had taught.

Fearing she was about to be sacked, she sought the help of a student in procuring a gang member to go and ‘sort out’ the principal by ‘capping’

This teacher was arrested, charged, sent to diversion.

Her teaching certificate was not cancelled.

2nd teacher, because of their faith, would not address a Trans Student by their new name and selected gender identity.

This teacher has had their teaching certificate removed…

  The Prime Minister has also expressed huge concerns over the content of sex education being taught to some pupils, where teachers are refusing to hand over the curriculum to worried parents.

  Under the new plans, heads in England will be told that parents must always be consulted if a child wants to be called another name, or wear a different gender uniform.
  
  And the school will not be able to use the child’s new preferred pronouns until parents give consent.
  
  Teachers will be ordered not to recognise a transition within the school gates if the parents do not agree with it.
  
  And neither students nor teachers will have to call another pupil by their preferred pronouns if they do not want to.
  
  Now this is newly proposed guidance, and I’m sure it will be watered down after the violent protestations of the screeching trans lobby. But still, this is sensible stuff.

    I don’t know about you, but I’ve never called anyone by their pronouns, preferred or otherwise. That’s not what they’re for. Pronouns are for referring to other people when you’re talking about them…
    
    I’m completely with Matt Walsh on this one, you don’t get to define how people talk about you, whether it’s pronouns or adjectives. Even if my preferred adjectives are “handsome”, “witty” and “intelligent”, you’re perfectly at liberty to call me a pedantic old misanthrope.

  To be fair, there was a bit more to the second teacher’s conduct than you mention there. Telling a student they need deliverance and that they would be going to Hell was, for me as a practising Christian, a step too far.

    Leaving aside the religious and faith elements – not to diminish them in any way, but to bring focus to another key point – teachers are supposed to be educators, imparters of knowledge and correctors of falsehoods.
    
    For a student to state they are now a different gender than what they actually are is a falsehood, a delusion, and is categorically and empirically incorrect. It would be wrong of this teacher to participate in the child’s delusion and, by acknowledging their “new” gender, name and pronouns, would be participating in a lie.
    
    I’m very glad the teacher refused to participate in this fantasy, despite the fact it may have cost him his job, He’s possibly somewhat relieved to be out of the industry and not have to deal with this egregious BS.

      The full stop should have came when the child demanded they be referred to as a different biological sex to what they are. NOBODY should be forced to adhere to and support this delusion.
      
      The child can BELIEVE what they want, but NOBODY should lose their job for not agreeing with that provably false belief. His religious position wouldn’t have arisen if this had been stopped at the beginning.
      
      NZ is becoming a totalitarian state. People losing their jobs for not complying with insane ideology and medical experiments.
      
      This won’t end well.

        That might be what the child wanted but I think it is reasonable to not want to be part of pretending a psychiatric illness is normal. Personally I would not want to be promoting this charade that is causing irreversible mental and physical harm. This is pure evil.

    I agree Tony but surely that depends on context. Assuming this was a State school then I can see why his employer (the school) would be pissed and there would be an employment issue. But if the employer was a Christian school, then this sort of behaviour is exactly what would be expected of the teacher. The problem is that this teacher has not only lost their job but has lost the right to be employed as a teacher anywhere. He has been declared unsafe to teach children when there are many parents and indeed schools that would be quite happy with his conduct.

    Yup. I’m involved in Christian schooling in New Zealand, and I would back censure of any teacher who said that.

      Censure yes, but losing their teaching licence was brutally harsh. He had no need to even mention religion, simply saying he couldn’t enable what was provably false should have been enough.

        If he had done that, censure would be what he got, he went way beyond that during the hearing.
        ‘[37] The CAC called for a rehabilitative penalty of censure, training, mentoring and
        notification to future employers. This was of course before seeing the submissions
        from Mr .
        [38] The submissions of Mr are difficult to reconcile with any
        rehabilitative outcome at present. Currently we have serious concerns about Mr
        fitness to be a teacher at all. Cancellation of registration is now being

  Are you able to provide a similar link for the first case so we can inform ourselves if we’re comparing apples to apples or apples to oranges.
  You’ve left out a ton of nuance in your description of the second case, which means it’s possible you’ve done the same for the first case.

    Predictably, this POS claimed that she was a victim, that she “felt bullied” and was resentful that the colleague who she told about the gang member being organised to knee-cap the principal, then alerted the principal who called the police.
    
    She stated she was desperate to return to teaching for two reasons – she “was passionate” about teaching and she needed the money. I think the latter reason is the only one – if she was passionate about teaching she would be unlikely to have “fabricated grades for work not done by students, forged the head of department’s signature, and lied about what classes she had taught.”

      I know nothing about this case apart from what I have read on this thread, but I wish to say that I cannot stand the habit every celebrity has espoused of being “passionate” about their particular interest. And I would add that it was the IRA which brought kneecapping into the weaponry of terrorism and I am sorry to read of a woman teacher taking up this approach to solving differences of opinion. Has she the excuse of being Irish?

  Once again, it is not the Education systems job to define peoples gender.
  If they can produce science that shows a change of gender can enhance a pupil’s learning ability, then perhaps yes.
  Schools, and education department, have a responsibility to act equally, and fairly, on behalf of both teachers and pupils.

    crikey – most likely kneecapping. A brutal form of punishment. I was used often in Northern Ireland during the troubles.
    If the victim was lucky the knees wouldn’t be hit, they would be shot through the thigh and hopefully the femoral artery isn’t hit.
    Otherwise they would be shot from the back of the knee out the front. It did devastating damage.
    
    Very bad offenders were known to get a “six pack”. Both knees, ankles and elbows,

And currently the last dive onto the wreck is all over the news.

I heard Ginny Andersen trumpet in the house yesterday that under the police’s new powers, they seized 26 vehicles, 4 firearms ( I think it was 4) and 11 offensive weapons in Opotiki the other day.

Which suggests that 26 vehicles, 4 firearms and 11 offensive weapons were out there circulating around before Opotiki.

  Cas, showing myself to be a political tragic, I continued watching parliament after question time yesterday as I was interested in the Ngati Hei settlement claim. Ginny Anderson stood and asked her statement in the house to be corrected to 26 vehicles searched rather than 26 vehicles seized, a difference of 4 letters but a huge difference in meaning and impact, not sure how she mixed that up.

I see Tova mark 2 is on the news as political something called Lynch (another Irish decent).
Last evening she immediately switched from the preceding subject to a new subject to Luxon’s wife having bough a new Tesla and she was claiming a Government subsidy for it.
Earlier in the day in Parliament I believe that she tried to pester Luxon about it where by she was told to stay away from his wife – but no some hours later here we go.
We know she hates both Luxon and National like the plague but she shakes as she tells her story.
How sad for the silly bint. Tova is slimmer but both are vitriolic – perhaps Irish ancestry.
But that is what she is paid for I suppose – shit stirrer.
Only demeans herself and TV3.

  Given that Ms Lynch has chosen to involve Chris Luxon’s wife in a political debate/point-scoring exercise, should her own relationship to a political party’s Chief of Staff be added as a disclaimer on every piece she does?
  
  I would far rather MPs’ families were left alone, unless they choose to insert themselves into political discourse.

    Its why I have no problem with Fox of CNN. You know which perspoecive you are getting the ‘news’ from. In NZ we have ‘news’ outlets hiding their bias.

  How appalling. The purchaser does not “claim the subsidy”. It is built into the price set by the dealer. If she irrationally demanded to “not claim the subsidy” the dealer would laugh like a drain and pocket the money. It wouldn’t go back to the government. The dealer would not be doing anything unlawful.

    My understanding is that you do actually have to fill out the paperwork and personally apply for the subsidy. But so what if Luxons wife did, proves she is not stupid. If labour brings out stupid subsidies how is that a failure for Luxon / National.

        Ruawai – There was a discussion here yesterday about how much Maori blood is needed to identify as such for preferential medical reasons. Well I changed to Maori on the electoral roll by ticking a box last night. I can now choose which to vote in at the election.
        I will be studying hard how to best use this new found power most strategically to get rid of the useless bastards currently running the country. (Into the ground)

        Interesting. I’m in the Ilam electorate and have the interesting decsion of whether to vote top locally and hope that gets someone into parliament that might work with the right. However I might swap to maori like you. I would love to throw a spanner in the works and stop the Maori party winning all the seats. The electorate vote is pretty worthless however in the Maori seats it might actually be important.

        Roborob – it told me my Maori roll electorate is Te Tai Tokerau. No idea currently if this makes a big difference to my voting choices. I’ll be studying hard.   My wife and I watch TV1 News regularly every night – but we certainly don’t watch the whole of the news. We frequently skip through stories that neither of us are interested in, or that we find offensive – yes, TV1, we do find a number of your stories offensive, and at times quite sickening as you try to put your slant on certain topics – and any time that John Campbell comes on is my “go and refill the wine” time. Similarly when Te Rauhiringa Brown presents the weather, we skip through it entirely and check the weather using our preferred app instead. She is obviously fluent in Maori, and presents the weather report at a brisk pace using a mixture of English and Maori – which, sadly, means that I literally cannot understand her). TVNZ have reportedly said that their presenters are welcome to use a combination of English and te reo Māori, and that’s up to them, but if I can’t understand what is being said then why would I waste my time trying to pick out the salient points?
  
  I’m sure we’re not alone in using the “skip” button on the News these days. I do wonder, when TVNZ proudly proclaims that their news program is watched by however many people, just how much of the news is actually watched. For us, on average, we tend to skip through around 40% or more of the news, but it’s not unusual for us to skip through far more than that on occasion.

Criminals, of all stripes, are the scum of the earth and need to be brought into line.

Last week a neighbour was burgled. The cameras record a single masked male with a knife who entered her house and then left a few minutes before she got home.

The poor woman, who lives at home lost some valuable assets. She feels violated and unsafe and is still a tearful wreck.

The cops have not arrested anyone. Maybe they consider the camera footage was enough evidence, but they didn’t ask neighbours anything.

NZ it is time to stop pretending the cops can look after you. They can’t. I know NZers are extremely resistant to carrying arms, but I think the point was reached a while back where people should be allowed to arm themselves – at least in their own homes.

Heck, I’m not even asking for a 357 Magnum, just a pepper spray would be a start.

Why should honest citizens be fearful in their own homes. No, bullshit. We have to do something about this.

  I popped into a Hunting and Fishing, and got some ammunition ahead of such purchases triggering the need to register all firearms within 5 years. That new regulation starts in effect on June 24th IIRC.
  Hoping to see the register pulled or dropped without me ever having to list them out for the police, or creating a shopping list for gangs.
  While there, got a 12 gauge pump action shotgun (Remington) and target, bird and buckshot.
  
  Always wanted a shotgun for potential home defense. My other firearms date from late 18th century to WW2, so either blackpower originals or high powered cartridges like British .303 or German ‘8’mm/7.92.
  
  Shotgun much better for use within the confines of the property – if had to be used.
  My K98 Mauser shoots very well at long ranges, but this is precisely why you are not meant to shoot within 1km of a dwelling according to the firearms code. Such high powered rounds are still lethal.
  
  And I carry a baseball bat in the car, and a Ka-BAr is beside my bed. Not counting a selection of historical -mostly 19th century- military swords on the wall in the study.
  Be glad if I never have to use them, but they are there….and I have even done the sinful act of sharpening a chosen cavalry sabre, infantry sword and cutlass so have a good range to chose from!

  I communicated with David about this issue a fgew months ago. I also raised issues with functionality like losing comments when you post and the site decides you are now logged out. Ironically this just happened to my first reply to your post!
  
  Anyway David said he was sorting the adds out but after waiting a few weeks I finally installed an add blocker. It was that or stop using the site.
  
  I fully support DPM making money from adds, its just the terrible way they are / were handled. Ironically I will never know if DPM fixed the adverts now, certainly the other bugs with the site remain….
  
  1) If you have been logged in for some time the site allows you type a nice long comment, when you hit post the site tells you you cant post without logging in and when you click back (the only option) you usually loose your post.
  
  2) For some reason in the Firefox browser spell check doesn’t work for posts. Does for Chrome.
  
  3) If I tick notify me options they never do anything. Yes I have checked my junk / spam
  
  4) the report button is too close to reply and easy to accidentlly click. Since it doesn’t prompt to confirm you really want to report, it is easy to report a post you meant to reply too.

    @Than, you obviously haven’t been following the information very closely. Hunter is a long way from being “out from under his father’s roof”, and Hunter’s crimes significantly impact on his father as there is strong evidence that they are as thick as thieves (in more ways than one).
    Additionally the way democrats and their relatives are being treated under the law vs republicans highlights the unequal justice system under a democrat government.

Very convenient poll results released yesterday.
National need to use that mountain of gunpowder they are sitting on and pay for push polls of their own to knock Labour out of the headlines. They can’t just coast along to victory it’s not going to happen.
If National and ACT win this election, they will set the feral left back by decades and cause a complete meltdown just like what happened in Auckland when Mayor Brown trounced Efeso Collins.

      rockape – we’ll see. The problem with DNZ was, they are a minor party, there are a number of minor parties, they have split the “freedom movement” vote very widely.
      Also there will be many like me who if asked in a poll who they will vote for would currently have zero idea. Who are waiting until closer to the time to see which party comes closet to acknowledging the abuses of human rights and physical, mental and financial damage of the last three years.
      
      I was in Wellington for the protest, met hundreds of people directly or through various networks. I can tell you without a doubt, they are all searching and struggling to find a political ‘home’. Anyone who will give them a voice.
      
      That’s why I warn often about leaving this door open for Winnie to exploit. He will get the support if he decides to use this door. If National/Act miss out due to this they cannot say they weren’t warned repeatedly.

      Grandiose /self aggrandising statements and exaggeration are great marketing, but I might put this one next to “I will end the war in the Ukraine within 24 hours” stated as an absolute truth.
      It does make the story teller seem important though, and perhaps that is the only message in the story.

      There may be nothing much to release, as the only real coverup from that time seems to be the concealment of the true state of poor health of JFK and his sex life.

New Zealand’s immigration and refugee policies provide back-door entry to Australia.

People attracted from lower wage countries to NZ will soon take the chance to take another step up – into Australia. Once people have NZ residency they can cross the Tasman.

Labour is opening NZ’s immigration door further (link below).

We have scores of thousands on the dole, mobs of tertiary students on student loans taking humanitarian and Maori courses with little or no job benefits.

Our trade training is a disaster and a shambles with Hipkins smashing polytechnics and minor follies such as car-mechanic courses in Maori language.

Our universities are near bust and on residency-selling life support.

Our infrastructure from health to roads is stretched (except for our prisons, which have been sending convicts to motels).

We have not paid our way in world trade (as measured by balance of payments) for decades.

Our comparative wealth as a country has been sliding under the measure of GDP per capita.

If immigration were the parachute to save us in this economic plunge, at least we would be swinging in the air and coming down gently by now.

The best quick economic fix for NZ would be Australia closing the easy-entry back door for Kiwis – the back door through which so many of our best leave.

  They don’t want Employers having to compete for a limited pool of Workers. (leading to wage growth)
  
  The prospect of Full Employment seems to reduce them to tears. Their plans are to have a permanent overhang of ‘Unemployed’.
  
  Wage Growth is anathema to TPTB. There will be no organic reduction of the Wealth Gap while they’re in charge.

The data for the Racist Equity Health tool comes from the Beehives “New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019–2029” on p 6

Issue 1: No reference to back up their claims. They claim Maori are 20% more likely to get cancer than others and twice as likely to die. (p 6)

Below the claim is three graphs. Showing cancer incidence (2016) and mortality (2013) by race.
The reference for these Graphs is Disney Data Explorer. So it’s not a report which shows which data they used specifically in their claim. It’s a data tool so you can model scenarios.

Issue 2. The 1st graph in the beehive report shows there are a number of cancers which nonMaori are MORE likely to get than Maori. Eg. Colorectal, Prostate Cancer and Melanoma. Are Europeans/ and others being prioritised before Maori for these cancer treatments?

Issue 3. Europeans/ Other races are more likely to get Colorectal Cancer and Die from Colorectal Cancer so why are only Maori eligible for early bowel cancer screening?

Issue 4. The data explorer they use only goes up to age 74. So i assume the 20% claim is based on people younger than 74. So all cancers will be captured at the end for the average Maori male’s life but the elderly Europeans cancers in their final years of life is not included due to longer life expectancy. By only measuring to 74 it also doesn’t show the outcomes of their heartless policy to stop breast cancer screening for older women who are still at risk of breast cancer.

So I believe a more accurate claim would be In the Under 74 age group, Maori are more likely to get cancer than others….

  I know I would probably be called a raaaaacist for pointing this out, but the NZ Health Survey shows that Māori are more than twice as likely as the population as a whole to smoke tobacco.

Why on earth is the Covid Inquiry demanding that attendees take ‘trash’ lateral flow tests?

Today is the first day of the multi-million pound COVID-19 inquiry set up to ‘examine the UK’s response to and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and learn lessons for the future.’

The irony is that one of the most important questions centred around the UK’s COVID-19 response, will probably never be asked by the inquiry committee- why the UK Government wasted close to £4 billion on the infamous Innova lateral flow (rapid antigen) test- at a colossal cost to the UK taxpayer.

The further irony, according to The Telegraph, is that ‘the COVID-19 inquiry is demanding that the attendees test for the virus more than a year after the Government scrapped lateral flow tests.’

Also the bloody things are totally inaccurate.

All you have to do then is state “On (x) date, I placed my shares in a managed blind trust. At that time this included shares in (company y). Due to how the trust is managed, i do not know if I still nominally retain possession of these shares, and have asked for that information to be retained by the manager of the trust and not divulged to me.”

To date the discussion around the Treaty of Waitangi has focussed on the first two articles and disputes over ownership of land and taonga, and whether Maori were ceding sovereignty to the Crown.
It is worth not losing sight of Article 3, which, translated into English from the Maori version, reads as follows:
“The Third
For this agreed arrangement therefore concerning the government of the Queen, the Queen of England will protect all the ordinary people of New Zealand and will give them the same rights and duties of citizenship as the people of England.”
The notion of reciprocity between rights and duties is an important one. In the health context, for example, we are told that many of the inequities around Maori arise from circumstances within their control; weight and diet give rise to diabetes and heart issues, for example. Maori fail to attend appointments and take prescribed medication more than non-Maori. Maori smoke more. While factors such as poverty and isolation obviously play a part, the exercise of responsibility both at individual and collective level would go a long way to minimising the impact. Likewise with criminal offending. The duty for all to follow the law is enshrined in the Treaty, by consent, not just in criminal statutes. The Treaty does not distinguish between races in this imposition of duties and rights. All New Zealanders had the rights and duties of a citizen of England, and those rights and duties continue in force to this day, with no distinction between tangata whenua and tangata tiriti. It is worth remembering this when accuastions of racism are being bandied about. Is it racist to hold all citizens to the same obligations and afford them all the same rights? Clearly not. It’s in the Treaty
