The ever present expert on everything and master of none Political Journalist Lloyd Burr goes after Nationals Transport Policy with criticism and space age rhetoric, with Chris Luxon channels space race for Nationals Transport Policy.
Nationals promising to make it rain to make some roads.
By rain we mean cash, not water. And not just a we shower , but a down pour over ten years.
Maybe it would be better if Mr Burr stopped pulling his pudding and tapping his head instead of using his pet hate
“The National Party ” and instead funneled all that energy into costing how many billions or millions of Dollars Labour have spent on Consultants and canceled policies concerning Roads, Bridges, Rail.and tunnels over the last 6 years that could have help fund sound policies like National have announced this week.

Please Mr Burr tell us how many promises on Transport have turned out to be lies from this out of there depth Government and what have you done to hold them to account.
What National and our Prime Minister have done is is a plan for the future something Prime Minister Chris Hipkins and Jacinda Ardern never had and still hasn’t for the future of New Zealand.

        Christopher Luxon’s big intellect and big vision management skills are producing inevitable poll results.
        
        We will see more wise policies from the hardworking Luxon and his Minister as we lead into election day.
        
        David Seymours ACT are also tracking well.
        
        To Clan and all the others out there alarmed by: the covid fraud, the all cause mortality, NZs position as the only oecd country still promoting and administering the failed covid jab, the many examples of Labour Ministers defrauding taxpayers by awarding their spouses and families lucrative government positions / contracts, and Jacinda’s mysterious wealth.
        
        My advice is to hold fire, support National / ACT as best you can in the lead up to the election, then we need to demand answers from the new government.
        
        I’ll be asking Luxon and Seymour the hard questions post the election….

        I agree Mark. Nothin – but NOTHING – is more important than we get rid of this terrible government. A vote for Labour – or Greens, Maori , NZ F etc. -is a vote for the destruction of our country as we know it, and a non – vote is half a vote for them.
        I agree with everything Clan & others say, except for withholding their vote from Nat./ACT. I know it means putting a pretty severe clamp on your nose, but its the only choice that makes sense & to condemn Labour to the anals of history – the more resounding the defeat, the less chance there is of them repeating the last 6 years.

      I’d love to see Labour go into the teens on polling. 26% is dire though. The result of driving the nation into the dirt, rampant crime, destroying the economy. Potholes in the road with no clear plan to repair them.
      
      Polls are mostly rubbish these days anyway, they can be significantly wrong.
      
      Someone needs to change the way polling is done. Gone are the days of landlines and open opinions.

        Well yesterday’s poll of SMEs show the same shift in power, it found 64% wanted change, another 21% believed the Government deserved to be re- elected and one in ten respondents said it did not make any difference to who was in power.
        The poll found that National was firm favorite with 42% of respondents saying they expected to vote for National Party.
        The intention to vote Labour dropped significantly from 2020 pre election snapshot with just 15% of SMEs now saying they would vote Labour from 38% last election.
        A further 15% said they would vote Actand 6% for the Green Party.
        Just 5% of respondents said they would vote NZ First and 4% Te Pati Maori.
        The survey found crime, the cost of living and the rising cost of compliance would like to see new policy in.
        40% of business leaders said they wanted to see hasher penalties for criminals, 33% said they would likeGST removed from fresh fruit and vegetables and 28% wanted to see tax law changes to simplify compliance.

        Unless you are an expert pollster like DPF it is hard to know what gives with these polls this year. How many people hang up, are not interested or give a flippant answer to the questions asked?
        
        Polls also obviously cannot account for those who make up their minds in the polling booth. And how many of these voters are there?

        Hmm, the difficulty with that wish is the left vote would go into the Greens and Te Pati Māori. Do you really want them calling the shots in the next left wing government circa 2032?
        It is always better if the two major parties retain a respectable vote share, which in my view means above 25%.
        I know what it was like to be in a caucus with a 21% vote share. Not good.

  As reported on Talkback ZB this morning and given David Parker’s (Minister of Transport) huffing and puffing over National’s Roading Costings, the figures used by National were in fact provided by Parker’s Office as a result of a question raised during Question Time.

    I’ve made comments on the costings – definitely look a bit light. The fact they are from Parker’s office explains a lot!
    
    A fair and neutral media would include on any comments from Parker, Hopkins, Robertson etc about the budgets, that the budget figures used are Labour’s own figures. A good journalist might then ask why the government figures are sacrosanct one moment but then farcical when their opponents use them!
    
    Unfortunately, we don’t have a fair and neutral media nor many good journalists. As a result, these reports on costs might get traction unfortunately – the average voter tends to not care so much about the details and tends to be led by the headline. Sad but true.
    
    Just have to hope that enough people out there can see through the media spin and send this joke of a government into electoral oblivion on October 14!

    Yet another EV car carrying ship on fire. Batteries plus alloys means fire cant be put out. Also reports from overseas of electric scooter batteries catching fire stored in apartment buildings with disasterous results.
    I say a tipping point will come when citizens will say ICE good EV bad. Sales of new EVs will plummet second hand will be worthless whilst ICE prices will sky rocket.
    The Climate Hysterics will have a melt down.

      There are four mechanisms for the eventual capping of EV market share.
      
      1. They catch fire. When people know of someone who’s garage/house burns down they will avoid an EV. This is just a matter of time as EV numbers increase.
      There will be regulatory reaction after a major car scrap yard catches fire with hundreds of EV batteries polluting the air.
      2. Virtue signaling isn’t what it used to be. Last year you could drive with pride knowing you were supporting plucky little Tesla. Musk has since bought Twitter and fosters free speech, so he is now an enemy of the people and being seen in a Tesla is an embarrassment.
      3. Cost. The EV market is very binary. The market is saturated with the 15% of people who can afford to buy an EV. But there is no market for the used version. Those who want a cheap car will not pay a premium for virtue signaling so will buy an ICE car. The depreciation on an EV will be extreme and prevent re-purchase.
      4. Burial costs. There is no mechanism for disposing of the tonnes of battery waste generated.

        EV’s have a lifespan of about 14 years unless you spent more than the cost of car replacing batteries.
        
        There are a lot of safe reliable 15-20 year old ICE vehicles out there, and even if they do require an complete engine overhaul (rare nowadays), its still mostly less than what the car is worth.

      You’re living in fantasy land. In Jan-May this year, the market share in China for EVs increased to 28%, from 9% last year; the market share for ICE vehicles in the same period dropped from 91% to 72%. Values of ICE cars in China are plummeting because many of them don’t meet their new emission standards and can’t be sold. If you think the world is going to suddenly revert to petrol engines you’ve got a nasty surprise coming. If people don’t care about the potential for (and low incidence of) battery fires in hundreds of millions of cellphones, they certainly won’t care about the same thing in EV’s. You may need a sedative instead of that popcorn.

        HardCheese, if my cellphone battery catches fire, I think I have a fair chance of smothering the flames. But if my EV battery catches fire in a garage under an apartment building or office block, or attached to my neighbours house, I think the damage could be more substantial. I can see a few such instances leading to questions about insurance cover for the affected vehicles, or buildings.

    Funny you should ask that question because I travel Huntly to Hamilton it is good ten minutes quicker on the old road because of the roadworks on the expressway.
    It really pisses me of to see people leaning on there shovel doing absolutely sweet fuck all while the publc are held up in long cues trying to get to Hamilton or returning home.

  Keep pointing it out. Some people want this to all go away, I find the attitude astonishing. We’ve been subjected to the worst government abuses in a couple of generations at least, they effects have been disastrous for so many people, businesses and relationships.
  The country has a mountain of debt, we still have mandates in place, they are still promoting boosters of this experiment, nobody in parliament will even acknowledge the harms that have been done.
  No, remind them at every opportunity, they are all responsible for this nightmare. Never forget and never let them forget.

        You’re correct, covid isn’t the main problem, but it was the very visible warning shot exposing where this can all potentially lead.
        
        I’ll keep speaking out until this abuse is acknowledged or until the day I die. It may be futile but it is not in my nature to roll over and forget this level of abuse. It opens the door for a repeat which will me magnitudes worse than this time.

      I have seen the 99% figure before.
      Does this mean 99% of people who have the vaccine will not get covid/die from covid?
      OR
      Does it mean the infection rate/death rate will be 99% less than it would have been otherwise?
      
      If the first case then vaccinated populations will have death rates less then 10,000 per million.
      If the second case then vaccinated population will have death rates of less than 30 per million people, assuming 3,000 pm deaths in an unvaccinated population?

    Heres my take,
    I left school at 15 incidently when i had to learn Shakespear and maths with the alphabet in it.
    I just was,nt interested.
    To endeavour what i needed i always had private tuition on maths just too keep up. Best money ever spent as maths does not come naturally too me and i really have too work at it.
    One tuition while doing complex formulas , He said too me. You are trying to understand it. Dont bother, just know if you follow it you will come out with the right answer.
    Phew, Solid advice.
    Second important lesson is, Everyone does maths differently.
    So with this in mind, My answer too your question is, Dont bother.
    I find the most interesting posts have just as many down ticks as upticks.
    So , In line with Logic , I times them together for a final result, ie 7 likes and 7 downticks makes it 49.
    Everyone applies there maths differently.
    You dont need to get it!

      Lucky you MM. Numbers for me came natural – don’t kmow why. At high school Form 4 I could multiply 3 numbers against 4 numbers in my head. I went into the metal fabrication, could have been a very high paid accountant.
      But I had two hands and I like making stuff.

Two bits of bad news for the Silver Ferns in Cape Town at the World Netball Champs. As if losing shooter Grace Nweke for the rest of the tournament wasn’t bad enough, there’s news this morning that Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta is bound for South Africa to see them while doing some work.

Here’s hoping that Minister Mahuta doesn’t have the same effect on the Ferns as the dressing room visit by Jacinda Ardern, Chris Hipkins and Grant Robertson did on the Football Ferns!

  Was very interesting was it not? Abuse, losing your job in the morning – wow! And the charge was still downgraded to ‘failing to accompany’ rather than the originally reported ‘resisting arrest’. I’m sure our brave defenders of the truth, aka the media, will hold power to account and accurately and fully report on the court proceedings……ha!!!
  
  I hope one of our few remaining journalists have issued a few OIA’s over this. Timing would be critical. When was the evidentiary breath test that resulted in the lower drink driving charge administered? When and why did the charge change to careless driving?
  
  I suspect the final charges have been influenced by Police HQ – suspect this is why you have some stories now emerging from front line police officers, and extremely pissed off police officers, like the one reported by Hosking this morning.

  I suspect that quite a few front-line officers such as the ones that had to deal with this entitled racist, are really pissed off that they are then directed from upstairs how to treat the offender differently. Losing her job is not the consequence of her activity. That came about because she couldn’t be a Minister while having demonstrated her willingness to break the law.
  
  Hipkins evasion – still an active Police investigation – just doesn’t wash. He knew – along with the rest of the Liemore caucus – that Allan is a right piece of work but got away with all her behaviour because of her various diversity traits.

    Many NZers think like you but many don’t. If I were National I’d carry on as they are. Become the government. Then hold an enquiry into the covid policy. Then talk about what they have learned as a result of the enquiry.

      Thanks Scott, and aside from the ‘you wanted granny to die’ brigade who still think we did wonderfully, there are more likely more that simply do not care about the Covid discussion beyond it being a waste and a failure & another bad policy from government.
      It does not excite any emotion or even mention amongst my social or professional circles, even when the topic of government routinely comes up.
      Outside of Twitter and Blogs, there are other matters that are concerning people day to day, and it is not what happened in 2020 or 2021. It is what we are staring in the face in 2023 and beyond.

      Scott, one problem with that point of view. Firstly, the lies we were told to compel people to play this insane game are now exposed for anyone to see.
      
      There may be a few idiots who will remain in denial, because they are total cowards and can’t admit they were wrong, but this time their is actual evidence that it was all lies. This time we aren’t dependent on manipulation, propaganda and a bought media. The receipts are all there.
      
      No, National didn’t implement them, what they did was criticise Labour for not imposing the draconian measures hard enough. Anyone who was negatively impacted knows this and will never forget it.
      
      I’m not asking for an apology from National. I’m asking for an acknowledgement that there was tremendous abuse and harm done to totally innocent people. This is a provable fact.
      
      We know Labour did it. National can acknowledge this with a guaranteed net gain in support. National were also led to by Labour.
      Continuing to pretend it didn’t happen and hope nobody notices is cowardly and strong on every level.
      
      We don’t need an inquiry, we know what happened and we know who did it. It’s time to admit this and then we can move on.

      Scott – there is much more to this than just pretending it’s okay that so many people were harmed and that mandates were not an assault on freedom. It is also about what the National party and the ACT party stand for. They have both ditched any pretence of standing up for our sovereign rights when it comes to government overreach, and it is their failure to stand up for our bodily autonomy and to the blatant contravention of Nuremberg and Helsinki and our BoR.

    I think your approach is broadly sensible but I also think there are two problems with this approach which is why neither National nor ACT will do as you suggest.
    
    The first is that to apologise for something you think was wrong, well you kind of need to believe it was wrong. I’m not really sure that National believes this was wrong. Remember that some of them, including some high profile MP’s, went ‘all in’ on the covid response. I’m really not sure they believe they were wrong.
    
    The second issue is pragmatism. Very few politicians make apologies. It’s a word they try to avoid at all costs. While the public can be pretty forgiving of a politician who puts their hands up and says they got something wrong (we all make mistakes), the media control the narrative and a left leaning media will spin the apology out of all context. Accusations about uncertainty, history of u-turns & backtracking, how can you trust them when they change their mind etc, these are all the things a left-leaning media would use against National or ACT.
    
    For what it’s worth, ACT disappoint me most on this. National need the centre voter (or have decided they do) so don’t want to spook the horses – I know it seems crazy but I think there is still strong sentiment out there that ‘Jacinda saved 80,000 grannies’ – it’s just too soon for some people to acknowledge they were sold a lemon.
    
    ACT disappoint me though as they could easily make amends as you suggest and either survive unscathed or actually thrive.
    
    Regardless, Winston might just ride this back into parliament.

        Ghost: Well, one never knows. Five years ago ACT had just the one MP, and he was only there courtesy of the Nats. Everyone was predicting they would soon fade into oblivion. Fast forward five years, and they have 10, and are on track to get 14 or 15.
        
        While 20% for ACT would be some achievement, it could possibly happen. I have to be honest and say that in my view their current polling is more down to piss weak Nat leaders than anything else.

  Well hopefully someone will now OIA the CCTV footage from the Watchhouse along with all radio call tapes, telephone calls to the Comms Centre, notebook entries, by involved staff.
  
  Hosking also raised the issue of the downgrading of the charges, that needs an independent review as to what’s gone on with those. Clearly Labour are just happy to have this drip fed out over the next two months. Great stuff !

  Hosking: Did you get to the bottom of what happened that night with Kiri Allan when police were involved?
  
  Hipkins: It’s not appropriate for me as PM to ask police questions about an active investigation.
  
  Hosking: Well didn’t they ring you?
  
  Hipkins: The commissioner of police informed the Minister of Police that a minister of the crown had been arrested. That is appropriate. It is not appropriate for me as PM to be asking for details of an active police investigation.
  
  Hosking: Here is what the police told me. The dog handler who attended the incident said that Kiri’s behaviour at the scene was atrocious – abusing and swearing at the police staff and then when she was taken to custody, she told the custody sergeant and his staff they would all be losing their jobs.
  
  And the thing that has upset the police at the moment – and you’d be interested in this being a former Police minister – is that the charge was down graded to Failing to Accompany. Does that concern you in any way or not really?
  
  Hipkins: It is an active police investigation and ministers of the crown need to be treated the same as any other member of the public and when they break the rules, they should face the same consequences. And in this case the consequences are higher in that she no longer has her job.

Just a sniff on Latest Roy Morgan poll for July 2023.

The latest survey from the Australian pollsters also shows bumper levels of support for minor parties, with Winston Peters’ populist New Zealand First set for a sensational return to parliament.

A near-constant wave of scandal and distraction appears to be weighing on the Labour government, which switched leaders from Dame Jacinda Ardern to Chris Hipkins in January.

Support for Labour sunk to 26 per cent in Roy Morgan’s July poll, down from 30.5 last month and well below their historic 50 per cent 2020 election result.

In contrast, voters are liking what they see from centre-right opposition National, which rose 3.5 points to 33.5.

Roy Morgan chief executive Michele Levine said the result was “the lowest level of combined support for the governing Labour-Greens since they were elected to government in late 2017 nearly six years ago.”

“The news in mid-June that New Zealand has officially entered into a recession appears to have knocked the wind out of Labour’s chances of winning the election,” she said.

Support for the two major parties fell again to a combined 59.5 per cent, suggesting voters are casting about for different ideas.

The highest-polling minor party is National’s likely coalition partner ACT, a right-wing libertarian group, at 14 per cent.

Replicated into parliamentary representation, National and ACT combined would have 61 MPs in the 120-seat house.

Labour’s caucus of 65 at the last election would be halved to just 33 MPs.

On these numbers, Labour would have two possible coalition partners: the Greens – which polled nine per cent or 12 MPs – and the Maori Party – with six per cent or eight MPs – for a total of 53 MPs.

New Zealand First has polled five per cent: right on the threshold to guarantee parliamentary representation under New Zealand’s mixed-member proportional system.

NZ First governed with Labour in their first term before crashing out of parliament in 2020, and leader Winston Peters has vowed never to work with Labour again.

Mr Peters has courted anti-vax sentiment, railing against “bloated out-of-touch Wellington bureaucrats” and “woke sociological extremists” on the campaign trail.

The poll also brought good news too for self-described “radical centrists” TOP, which polled four per cent.

On these numbers, Raf Manji’s party is just one per cent away from sending MPs to Wellington for the first time in its seven-year history.

Beyond the confirmation of a recession, Labour has endured a dour last six weeks, losing two ministers amid revelations of a divisive cabinet battle over tax policy.

As well as surveying party support, Roy Morgan also polls Kiwis on whether they think things are headed in the right or wrong direction.

In another marker of doom for the incumbent government, a record number now feel negatively about the future, with 29 per cent putting New Zealand on the right track, and 60.5 per cent on the wrong track.

I noticed in the wake of the poll this morning, that Martyn Bradbury is saying that the only way Labour can regain some ground is to take GST off all foods.
Such an ignorant idea, because we all know that the GST amount will quickly be eroded by increased profits for the supermarkets – they price their products according to what the market will stand.
The only winners will be the supermarkets.
The losers will be the public; and the govt with a reduced GST intake.
It really is a simple intelligence test.

  The latest data I have seen on expenditure on food and non-alcoholic beverages was for 2021, and it was $24.2 bn.
  
  Price have probably gone up by 20% since then, which would bring it to a fraction over $29 bn now.
  
  Removing GST on this amount would, therefore, result in lost tax revenue of around $4.4 bn.

  I know you guys really really want to believe this stuff, but it doesn’t work this way. This is Labour voter/Grant Robertson style logic. You’d have to be extremely brave to agree with the finance minister and his track record on economic understanding.
  
  We even have a recent example with the temporary reduction in fuel taxes. Prices dropped when the tax was removed. Prices rose when the tax was reinstated. Taxes make things more expensive. It really is THAT simple and it shouldn’t surprise anyone because that is the PURPOSE of taxes.
  
  According to your economic theory, when the tax was removed on petrol, prices should not have changed at all because “fuel companies will just maximise profit and raise prices” Also, when John Key raised GST to 15%, this should not have ANY impact on prices, because the public is already paying the maximum they can and businesses are already charging maximum. Therefore the tax would have to come out of the company’s margins. That’s not what happened though was it? Prices increased by 2.5%.

But Labour’s 3 Waters legislation is all based on the premise that Councils will otherwise face expenses of $120 billion to $185 billion – so with a plausibility gap $60 billion …

What about personal responsibilty?
Unless you have your own private banking wealth manager these days, don’t think for a moment you can rely on a ‘Teller’ for advice. The only time I ever go into a branch is to get a print out of our TD accounts…and thats just for entertainment, to see the look on the tellers face.
When it comes to money….TRUST NO ONE is the best advice.

  Why can’t they – for, say, anything over $25,000 – operate a policy where there’s a freeze for 24 hours or so on such transfers as have got these scam-victims into strife?

    I recently had to do 5 x $100,000 transfers out of an account into 5 separate overseas and local accounts as part of an inheritance pay out. For EACH ONE I was asked:
    Do you know this person?
    Are you sure this isn’t a scam?
    Are you aware that if this is a scam you may not be able to get your money back?
    There are limits on how much you can transfer without being quized like this. If you get scammed it’s generally because you haven’t done your homework. If you want the bank to pay out when you love money, the onus is on you to prove the bank was liable/negligent.

When a numerically dominant but on average less productive group (women) slowly create political structures that disadvantage a minority (men) that have a near monopoly on much essential competence and labour as well as contributing majority of economic productivity and tax then over long term that will create a destructive backlash of some sort; be it disengagement, emigration, mail-order brides, anti-democratic movements, violence or something else.

In any case it’s inevitably bad for the economy, productivity, relationship formation/endurance, birth rates and likely average levels of happiness.

Wiles and physicist Shaun Hendy were prominent in Covid strategy. The pair later instigated the open letter attacking the seven NZ academics – the “Listener Seven” – who challenged the notion of Maori knowledge being classified as science. This was signed by hundreds of academics, officials and others, who will likely come to rue their stance.

Five young teens are set to appear in court after raiding a Waikato liquor store armed with a pistol, shotgun and axe.

Police say the group aged between 13 and 15 years was involved in a police chase on State Highway 1 and tracked from the air and by dogs to a property some 11km away after stealing alcohol from a Pōkeno bottle shop.

    She’s a German physicist who is skilled at explaining complex ideas, inlcuding in English. Her YouTube channel’s now up to 952,000 subscribers.
    
    Hossenfelder’s topics are broader than those of Pearce, whose field looks to be tightly focused on environmental matters.

  It is a mixed blessing. Sooner or later folk need to wake up to the cost of achieving the emissions commitments. I’ll say it again. Folk want to address emissions until they need to pay for it.
  
  The Climate Change Commission was upfront that many low income people would be priced out of owning motor vehicles because they could not afford the capital cost of an EV or the running costs of a petrol vehicle.

Private developer wants to build a new development in central Otago.

NZTA opposes it because the new residents will want to drive cars which are bad for the environment.

Ministry of Education opposes because there might be some children who need schools.

    The Ministry of Education builds schools where they are needed. It is not the job of property developers to pay for schools!
    
    There are no roads required. The opposition by NZTA is not on the basis of new roads being needed, it is based on “climate change”.

      Development contributions pay for roads and drainage water outside of the development etc etc.
      By building out of the town limit the developer would avoid all this by paying only rural levies which would be circa 10% of in town.
      By building on an existing NZTA road they would be carried by the taxpayer who would get zero benefit from the development.
      The amount of vehicle movements caused by this development would be circa 15 per DU, with 10km to town its an eye watering amount of KMs per day . Its just bullshit, if the developer wanted they could come to an agreement with Council to share the costs and benefits but have chosen not to.

Right now, I’m about to try to get out of Ukraine, and seek political asylum in Hungary.

Either I’ll cross the border and make it to safety, or I’ll be disappeared by the Kiev regime.

My crime was making videos critical of the West and their proxy regime in Kiev—and how they are destroying Ukraine.

Surely any sane person would realise they all go home at some stage to their partners, parents, friends, flatmates etc, where they all discuss the events of the day. It’s not the crime that might have been any big deal, it’s the cover up.

A National MP has been accused of conduct towards another MP that could amount to “threatening or intimidating” behaviour.

Tim van de Molen has been referred to Parliament’s Privileges Committee after Speaker Adrian Rurawhe received a complaint from Labour MP Rachel Boyack about the National MP’s conduct towards the chairperson of the Transport and Industrial Relations Committee on June 29.

Newshub understands van de Molen allegedly stood over Labour’s Shanan Halbert and other MPs had to physically rally around Halbert due to concerns for his safety.

Just heard audio from Winston on ZB.

He was being asked whether he would definitely go with National if he held the balance of power,

Of course he answered in word salad. He said that “they” – not sure who “they” is – would need to prove that “they” would be a better government than the current government.

Honestly folk are insane voting for this guy. In 2017 he caused immense damage and he could do it again in 2023, pushing 80 years old. Let’s face it. He won’t stop this nonsense while he remains living and breathing 🙁

Good interview on The Platform with Damien Grant and the exodus of people from NZ. Looking at the 20 something’s who are leaving compared with those that stay, basically he said if you’re not that skilled then NZ will look after you, you’ll be given a house, if you can’t pay your rent you won’t get kicked out, if you commit a crime you won’t go to jail. On the other hand if you want to make money then the govt will expect you to pay for the guy who doesn’t want to work. Sad but so true.

  The same issue that has afflicted socialist/highly redistributive countries forever – over-taxing/punishing the productive and particularly the hyper productive people drives them offshore, with huge impacts on economy. That is because a very small number of people are responsible for setting up and running enterprises that contribute a substantial portion of the economic output of a country. They are the golden geese.
  
  You are better off taxing the wealth generating rich less, like setting upper limit on income tax (excluding property investors) – because they are the ones who grow entrepreneurial culture and drive a country’s economic success.
