I watched the multi Leaders debate on TVNZ featuring Maori Party, Greens, NZ First and Act.

Waititi got a lot of deference from Jack Tame and essentially said that everything has been bad since 1840. With his facial tattoos, his radical attitude, his disrespect for old Maori like Winston Peters, he seemed like a creature from another planet. The obviously handpicked audience loved him, however he is only for Maori. Under his governance Maori people will qualify for superannuation ahead of non Maori. How is that not racist?

James Shaw was at his best in the first topic of climate change on which was devoted a full half hour. Otherwise he basically followed along with much of what Waititi said.

Seymour got better as the debate went on and made sense on issues like superannuation. He’s the only person who appears to want to increase our prosperity. Interestingly he seemed ill at ease and not someone with momentum?

The person who was the most comfortable was Winston. He at least represents a NZ we can recognise. He used to ride a horse to school and grew up in a very poor Maori community that was law abiding. He seemed happy in his own skin and was able to effectively counter the Maori radicalism of Waititi.
He proposed a full scale enquiry into our covid response, which I agree with.

Lastly we must mention Jack Tame who handpicked his audience, set up questions with interviews with young women who were all in on climate change and cogovernance and managed to relentlessly promote progressive causes at all times. He is the face of our government funded, hopelessly biased media. In my opinion they should lose all government funding immediately following the election.

    Conservatives should be wary about voting for NZF? But not about voting for the Nats or ACT?
    
    We don’t have any serious conservative parties in this country. The Nats are slightly right of centre economically, but left of centre socioculturally. ACT definitely right of centre economically, but very liberal on some socio-cultural issues. NZF are slightly left of centre economically, and are the only major NZ party that is socio-culturally conservative.
    
    But it’s funny how Peters’ critics say (quite understandably) that we can’t believe anything he says, yet here you are saying we SHOULD take seriously his 2017 musings about capitalism. And didn’t Peters oppose a CGT when the Ardern government was considering the idea?

  Winston represents only the struggle to reach 5%, by choosing his angle-de-jour.
  His real talent is in hitting the right buttons with the disaffected so he can be dozing in taxpayer funded junkets for another few years.
  Riding a horse to school is neither here nor there.
  
  The fact that latest poll shows that him going with Labour & co could form another alternative government to NACT scares the crap out of me, being that he will chase whoever offers the largest pork barrel and sweetest slops.
  
  I will again state that I have been most consistently a NZ First voter all my life.
  But it seems some people have short memories around him going with Ardern over English.
  
  I would hope you all fall on your own swords, the Winnie fans, if it comes to that: you will have truly doomed the country with your rose tinted view of Winston.
  
  It’s not like we don’t know his ways by now.
  Jeez, c’mon….he gets a leg up onto a horse for TV and we are meant to get teary eyed and carry the scorpion again?

    The N/Act know why we are voting Nz1. They continue to refuse to address our concerns. In fact they actively belittle those voters. They allowed those votes to go to Winnie and hoped to get them back with scaremongering. The mandates were wrong. Deeply wrong.

        There is a massive, massive difference between a true vaccination that went through many, many years of proper trials before being approved. One that has been proven safe and in use for decades – and an experimental gene technology that was rushed to market in months with totally bs trials and associated safety data.
        
        Also zero information on the effect on pregnant, immune compromised, frail and elderly, all those who it was pushed onto hardest.
        
        There is no comparison, though I personally disapprove of anything medical being compulsory to permit access to normal society.

  I saw Winston’s right hand shaking repeatedly, a nervous tic. He was rattled on GST, didn’t seem to know his own policy. He was very, very strong at certain points, and he looked very tired at others. I believe everything he said about how there was far less crime involving maori in the past, this is my 80 year old fathers clear recollection of growing up in NZ, when people didn’t even lock their doors. The drift of maori into the cities has played a large part in their decline as a people.
  Seymour stuck to his guns well, made his points in a very hostile environment where the studio audience was a pack of young wokesters baying for the blood of the purported ‘far right racist’, and smarmy social justice warrior Shaw played up to it for all he was worth, unleashing putdowns and bullying to cheers and clapping from the crowd.
  
  David’s prickliness towards various people is probably an outcome from months of being called a racist and being forced to defend himself over all sorts of different things, often from interviewers who have an agenda going in. Fair minded people will know this to be true, people who have an agenda themselves will deny it.
  
  Lastly, I am sick and tired of the continuing disingenuous attacks on Seymour, Luxon, Willis, and van Velden. None of these attacks will make New Zealand a better place in the long run, they will only splinter the Right and play into the hands of people who seek to benefit from that.

    Foster has hurt feelings – handbags at dawn stuff.
    I would be surprised if Robertson could be prevented from buying a ticket and sitting in the stadium to watch any games, but Foster doesn’t want him talking to his players before or during proceedings in case they get different ideas.

    David, it appears that Robertson’s presence might distract some of the team. Apparently. And having been asked not to attend, there is no way that Robertson would want to alienate anyone, particularly players who he may have to work with. And I believe he was just on holiday with his wife and was going to attend a couple of matches. So it’s not much of an issue for him.

      No what is the point? They smashed a side window. I am guessing the alarm went off and they ran. Nothing was stolen from the car. The car was on the street as I was staying at a friend’s house. This was in a nice part of town. This shit is happening every night.
      
      I’m not sure if Christchurch is any worse than other places. Looking at the data (I posted it on GD a while back), even in 2021, New Zealand had by far the highest rate of motor vehicle theft of any country, and it has certainly got worse in the last 2 years.
      
      It is not a minor crime. For most folk, having their car stolen or wrecked causes financial and emotional stress.

  If I am in my own home, dash to the study, grab a cutlass or a broadsword and trust that I am more experienced in sword-use and riposte than the meth head.
  Attack the wrist from outside of his own range via lunge & cut. Disarm/maim. Counter as needed.
  A cutlass is more use in the confined space than the katana.
  Aim my thrust through the thin facial bones for an immediate off-switch.
  
  Or in this hypothetical, did I get enough warning to load my Remington pump action with buck shot first?
  
  In my car, inside the car I have a US army Ka-Bar within reach from the driving seat and an alumium baseball bat in the boot. The baseball bat is for use outside the car, and the more moderate response if I was forced to be involved in something.
  
  Or am I on the footpath, and I have good running shoes?
  (An expression in the dojo is the best block for a knife is a city block, and just run & dont be an idiot. You are going to get cut or stabbed).
  
  With a sword, if stuck with no retreat, try and effectively smother sword use by closing chest to chest ASAP and grapple. (Most people don’t know about ‘shorten arms’ for use of swords at such range, and katana are not thrusting swords in any case.) I am quite comfortable in stand and clinch.
  I almost always carry a knife, in case of dog attacks while out. But at a pinch, use anything – headbutt, attack the eyes, even bite chunks out of them if life or death.
  
  …I love hypotethicals, and have prepared and planned ahead.
  
  Why do you ask?
  
  (Mods, the above potentially valuable information is not that I am a psycho, but trained and train other people in martial arts so these are scenarios I have mapped out and even played out with people well ahead of time).

        I like archery probably even more than shooting, as there is something organic in the applying the draw weight, angle, and aim – then seeing the arrow fly, which means you can adjust & people improve and hit targets quickly with casual fun archery.
        Shooting with firearms you have only the sights, breathing/stable posture, and a spotter to call the hit for longer ranges – you dont see the flight of the round.
        I have found it harder to get newbies to improve accuracy on target compared to bow and arrow.
        
        On the pro-side: you can also shoot with a light bow fairly safely in the back yard but can’t practice with a firearm.
        On the con-side: my recurve sporting bow is not a war bow type of weight (only 33lb) so does not have the hit of a compound bow, nor the bladed broadheads such as you would need to reliably take down a large mammal….

      Yep – I need a bit of warning to even arm like that sure.

        My earliest is 1778 🙂 an actual brass barrelled blunderbuss with top mounted bayonet.
        
        Then there are a few pairs of flintlock pistols and the like…
        
        I am still unclear if flintlocks need to be locked away…you dont need a firearms licence to buy them as you cant buy ammo for them..
        
        But the Gilpin “Hog Splitter” axe doesn’t require loading….. 🙂

  They are exactly what you would want from national, if luxon wasn’t a soggy tissue.
  
  Only problem is that’s it’s Winston. You vote for things he is saying. He gets in. He decides to go with labour and does none of it.
  
  The policies basically align with national and act, but Winnie has the balls to stand up to maoris.
  
  It’s just he will change his policies for the correct amount of cash.

Nicola Willis, the person National Party stalwarts claim will be an “outstanding” minister of finance (despite her qualifications being the same as Grant Robertson) is already having to explain and back peddle on her “tax relief” policies.

She says NZers are “not fools”. Correct. We see it for the BS that it is. Her next failure will be when her overseas buyers stamp duty fails to deliver.

I hate Labour with a passion. But this is an unacceptable replacement.

    Nuku: He’s not saying that at all…but knowing NK as I do, he may very well abstain…abstentions may explain why, as someone asked the other day, ACT had dropped 2% but the others had all stayed the same.
    
    I myself voted on Monday before Seymour’s continuing grandstanding pissed me off too much.

      Abstaining so that we get a nightmare Labour / Greens / Te Pati Maori horror show. And capital flight and an exodus of our best and brightest. The whole idea of ‘abstaining’ to prove some personal point of principle that no-one else will ever know or care about….I got over that behaviour as a kid when I’d go pack a sad, hide in my room in high dudgeon, and life would carry on without me. I’d be told “you are just cutting off your nose to spite your face, get over yourself”. I can imagine these people who ‘abstained on principle’ watching the country go to hell in a hand basket & having just a wee bit of recrimination that they and those like them chose to get up on their high horse rather than influence the outcome.

      If you want to replace Labour abstaining is not an option. I can understand an abstain if you are a Labour man and cant stand to vote for them this time but if you want to remove the govt an abstention is almost a vote for Labour.

  From the outset of this election campaign when announced ,they have focussed on this policy and this policy alone ( relatively) of all the parties , have done a forensic analysis and have come up with a bit of a hit.

You need to know what someone’s made of long before s/he gets anywhere the top job, so that episode raises serious questions about the National Party culture. Has their institutional culture become too dominated by typically feminine priorities like “safety”, eschewing the sort of robust exchanges often favoured by men?   She’s a journalist. A quality journalist should be able to research. listen and ask the right questions until they understand. Unfortunately what passes for “journalist” in the modern age undermines that somewhat.

    BTW, the Nats use of the term “average” in advertising is a bit misleading. I live in an average household income family (within $5k of mean, 1 FT and 1 PT) with two young kids and Nats tax calculator shows our household would receive less than 60% of Nats “up to $250/fortnight for average household” marketing.

    Why should beneficiaries in NZ “deserve” food, water, housing etc for the mere accident of being born in NZ?
    
    You are of course correct that there is no reduction in tax without other changes. Those can either be more borrowing (we’ve already enslaved and mortgaged the next 3 generations) or less spending.
    
    There is clearly a lot of room for improvements on the spending front.

      Because welfare in its current form does not help people.
      
      Welfare should be a safety net. It shouldn’t be a comfortable hammock.
      Safety nets, like seatbelts, are there to prevent massive injury. They are not for comfort.
      
      Our welfare system has become a “career choice” – a lifestyle.
      
      Welfare has become intergenerational. Half the problem with poor educational outcomes in lower demographics is that people see no motivation. Why study hard and do homework etc when your parents are modelling bludging?
      
      If tax reduction comes at the cost of further borrowing then that’s not a good thing. We’ve already hocked the next two or three generations.

      Damo – I looked very hard for a “major centre right party” on the parties list and could not find one. Don’t delude yourself, under the current leadership National is not centre right by any stretch of the imagination and doesn’t even occupy a centrist space. Neither is the libertarian party ACT. They might be a fiscally conservative and socially liberal so I could at a push accept a “centrist” description for them.

    $2.25b…..(Billion!!!!!)
    I’m sure we could get that up to $3b with some adjustments, good management and the cancelling of those working groups etc.

      It is ridiculous to compare the Reagan tax cuts to what National is offering.
      
      Reagan cut the top end tax rate from 70% to 50% ie, a reduction of 29%.
      The lowest tax rate was cut from 14 to 11%. ie a reduction of 21%.
      Company tax was reduced from 28 to 20% ie. 29% reduction.
      
      According to National’s tax calculator I’m getting a reduction of less than 2% ($20 a week).
      
      Few, very few, people will have the Lotto-like magic numbers to secure a reduction of more than $50 a week. Likely few will be getting more than a 5% reduction in tax.

        The best possible govt. ie magical impossible dream.
        ALL tax cuts are valid, as it leaves the growth and direction of the economy in the hands of the people that create it….The citizens.
        The choice is simple
        Lab/TPM/ Greens
        GST off fruit and veg….maybe a few dollars a week for a family.
        Free prescriptions, max $100 per YEAR ($2 per week MAX)
        Free dental for under 30’s …yet to be defined what the encompasses, but not start until after 2027 (ie the next election).
        Nat/ACT…Tax thresholds moved and tax cuts amounting to $40-$50 per week IMMEDIATELY.
        So not a matter of opinion, a matter of the actual numbers.

Sure better management of the finances but no ground breaking change. Stamp duties on foreign property buyers? What a laugh. After the money-go-round of collecting and bureaucracy costs for the few brave enough to invest there will be nothing added to the governments coffers. I would rather see more money come into the country, which it will with fewer penalties, to give us the economic stimulus. We are competing with the rest of the world for foreign investment and do not need to add disincentives.

    Very hard to calculate but almost always revealed in a rear view mirror.

However they dont understand Winston wont work with Seymour and he wont work withe the Maori Party. He will however work with the Greens.
  I noted that as ACT support wained NZF support grew. This I suggest was Labour voters from 2020 who wouldnt vote Labour or Nats but would support ACT “to keep the Bastards (Nats) honest”
  These voters will be dismayed if NZF goes with Labour as it will defeat their original intention.

        Based on a 20th century definition of communism, Jesus most certainly was not a communist. His encouragement to treat people with dignity and respect was central, and he reserved his opprobrium for pious religious leaders who habitually used their legalistic power over people to their own advantage. Even without buying in to the central tenets of Christian faith it is pretty hard to dismiss Jesus’ key attributes as being anything other than exemplary and constructive for us today.

    I can see a rerun of 2017 coming – National wins by a small minority.
    Prince Peters goes into “negotiations” with both National and Labour to ascertain which lot will give him the most of what he desires..
    Labour will do anything to keep the communist state of Aotearoa progressing – so Winston it is then.
    There is no uncertainty about this for voters.
    If you want socialism gone mad, then vote for Peters, but don’t expect him to save you. For one thing, he is too old and there is very little sensible talent behind him in NZF.
    If Peters developed a serious health issue (and not wishing this on him or anybody), say hello to your next leadership team, Hipkins and Shane Jones.

        There will not be any secret coalition agreement. All discussions and demands will be made public once we have made our decisions.

      Too late to influence anyone on Winston I’m afraid. The ‘covid people’ and some of those for whom co-governance is the main issue – they are with him. The Right is a pretty lose alliance of different philosophies, religious conservatives and libertarians have found they are poles apart thanks to people who work tirelessly to emphasise the differences – and there’s been a drive to fragment us and get us all infighting and it seems to have worked as far as I can see. Winston will deliver nothing and seems to be an unlikely hero to the agitated and unhappy: he’s the one who got us into this whole mess in 2017.       This scenario (NZ First going with Labour) was something that brought on a brief wave of panic as I lay in bed last night.
      A knot in my stomach, and so many otherwise intelligent people here seeming to talk up Winnie.
      
      The comment I heard (here?) about Labour getting back in would mean that Auckland airport would look like the fall of Saigon comes as a mental picture.
      
      The panic was brief, but there is something like a knot in my stomach that might continue until the election result is out.
      If Winnie goes into extended & prolonged negotiations with Labour and National after that day, I better stock up on quickeze while he contemplates what they offer him.
      Even if he went with the Nats, he is driven by ego and conflict. If he went with Labour/Green/Maori then we are ruined.
      
      I dont think we have had a more critical junction in the ideological/political/economic direction of NZ than now……and the way the wind is blowing, I smell the wafting of swing voter brain farts.

    There’re plenty of people in senior positions that should not be there. Just look at various boards staffed entirely by the timeservers. Some of them are just sinecures, awarded for services rendered, but not always so. I worked for a company where the second most senior executive was a woman with a degree in French and Latin. She was abysmal. In every respect of the company operations. Not a clue at all, yet she was excellent at playing the office politics, which took her right to the top. Now, I have no problem with women in senior positions, providing they are competent and despite some misgivings, hope that Willis will do OK, as it is also in my interest. But will she? Very recently there’s a certain person holding the most senior position in the land. We all know the effects of that, don’t we?…

  The pre-European period (now an era called by wokesters as ‘Pre-colonisation’) kumara is not the same plant or varieties which we see in shops today.
  The kumara we eat today has nothing to do with the Maori gardener of 1840 or earlier – they are not therefore taonga.
  The original variety or kumara in NZ was more like a finger thick tuber, and I was told by a professional archeologist the only person that preserved them at a point in time was a Japanese enthusiast. I suppose they may have been claimed by our Maori now, but the Countdown Kumara varieties we see are much ‘Maori’ as the potato.
  
  I say all this in the interest of balance, but will note that some Maori call dogs ‘toanga’ as well, so as to dodge registration fees, but the original small Maori dug (kuri) as was found here was already noted as being extinct by the end of the 19th century.
  The kuri doesn’t seem to have even survived as genetics in any present hybrid breed. The imported European dog breeds were so much more useful that, like the hearty and dependable potato, the old versions were abandoned.
  Likely put to use, that is.
  Nom nom nom.
  As a working dog or guard dog it would have been inferior to retrievers, terriers, etc etc. It also was said the kuri did not bark. There are only these descriptions and a poorly ‘stuffed’ specimen in a museum.
  
  I have found a few kuri jawbones in very old middens, and even part of a skull, in sites dating to the archaic period – about 600 years ago.
  Tiny really, like a miniature fox terrier in size.

    My reading Richard is that the prosecution insisted on reading out a tranche of allegations on day one which it was previously established have lapsed under the statute of limitations, and the judge had to rule them as inadmissable, this is the 80% I’m describing.
    I think time will tell on this one. Which is what teh Democrats are betting on – that Trump will have to use up lots of time when he could be continuing his election campaign. My insitnct is this will back-fire, just as teh ather attempts to neutralise him have.

Who has seen the reports showing that 11,005 people (presumably medical staff) were granted exemptions from the Covid injections? Who thinks that is fair? How did they go about choosing exactly who those people were who should get an exemption? Many who should have, were unable to, including a good friend of mine. He had an absolute allergy to one of the ingredients in it and was advise if he took the injection he would die within a few minutes. His doctor applied for an exemption for him. It was denied. This cheating revealed above needs to be called out from the rooftops, shouted all over the mainstream media. Has it been? No

  The short answer is, Sgt Schultz* was positively garrulous compared to them (ancient Hogan’s Heroes reference).
  
  They pretended not to even know the OIA information was on the OIA website.
  
  They said they would need to “check with colleagues” but wouldn’t call back an overseas number so I switched on my New Zealand mobile and will pay the roaming charges just to see if they do actually call me back. Not holding my breath.

What private company would employ a CFO with a degree in English Lit I doubt it. I wrote the other day that the system is stuffed it is.   It’s not the size of the city as such, it’s how the city is run and the kind of people in it. Huge cities in China are very safe because the laws are properly enforced and the consequences for breaking them are harsh, similarly Singapore or the UAE. Detroit is the way it is largely because many of the White people left and now a high proportion of minorities administer a city with a high proportion of anti-social and dysfunctional other minority residents.

    See my comment above. They aren’t necessarily light on crime per se, they are very particularly light on crime when it is committed by “marginalised” minorities, who also happen to be the disproportionate committers of crime to start with.
    
    Essentially, crime is seen as OK (and even justified as a form of reparations) if certain people are doing it. In fact, there is a sense that Whitey is getting his comeuppance if he is a victim of non–White criminality. Looked at this way, not everyone considers that the rampant crime problem is a problem at all. It’s actually justice on a cosmic level.

What was wrong with David Seymour last night during the minor parties debate on TVNZ?

He constantly interrupted James Shaw when he was speaking and at one stage called him James Off-Shore because he spent so much time out of the country.

I don’t agree with James Shaw’s policies but he didn’t deserve to be treated like that by Seymour.

11,000 New Zealand healthcare workers got vaccine exemptions. 11,000!!!
The OIA response letter from Te Whatu Ora is linked below. It’s dated 02 August 2023. (I have no reason to believe it’s fake. There’s ongoing correspondence and I’d assume Te Whatu Ora would have lawyered up by now if this was fake).
There’s also a suggestion these people were gagged to not say anything – though I’ve not seen evidence for that claim.
So here’s a couple of questions:
1. Wasn’t one of the main reasons we had to be vaxxed to protect the health system? And if we didn’t we were bad Kiwis. Yet at the heart of NZ’s response to COVD Hipkins/Bloomfield permitted 11,000 unvaccinated workers.
2. Who else got exemptions?

  It’s pure bullshit. I’ve worked in NZ hospitals for more than 35 years. EVERY doctor currently working in an NZ hospital is vaccinated and not just against COVID. Your vaccination record is linked to your NHI. There’s no faking it.
  During the pandemic if you didn’t vaccinate you were mandated out. The idea that 11000 doctors were unvaccinated and working is simply not credible.
  There are very significant problems with the story. NO sources other than “somebody told me”; 95 consultants in Dunedin would mean all of them and more; “secret gagging orders” that no one has seen; the premise that 11000 people didn’t talk to anyone about this for more than 2 years, and the fact that none of us are actually employed by the MOH.
  This is pure disinformation designed around the premise that doctors knew about problems with the vaccine and somehow conspired to pretend they were vaccinated when they weren’t (which is just pure paranoid fantasy)
  The real story here is who is disseminating this and why?

I watched a small portion of the minor parties leaders debate last night (couldn’t stomach watching it all), and from what I saw came to the conclusion, Rawiri Waititi is a racist/dangerous individual and Labour are welcome to him as a partner, Seymour was just petulant and came across as obnoxious so will have done ACT no good, or National for that matter, Peters was his belligerent self and couldn’t answer any in-depth question and his petty interaction with Seymour (and vice versa) was nauseating, and James Shaw came across as the most sensible and on point of all of them – Pity he’s in a party wanting to wreck NZ.
I, like many of my neighbour’s, are heartily sick of this election campaign and all the MSM generated BS and bias, and just can’t wait for 14th when it will be over.
Wife & I are voting this morning so thankfully won’t be interested in the last ‘leaders Debate’ as it’s becoming a circus.

Just after 7am on tv1 I saw John Tamihere saying that during one of the alleged home invasions of his candidate there were 5 pairs of new Air Jordans on the premises.

He said the fact that these weren’t stolen proves it wasn’t Maoris .

What a racist thing to say.

  I have some very good hi tech cameras outside my home.
  When armed they immediately send an alert to my phone if they detect a human shape and begin recording.
  Total cost for 2 cameras and base station $400
  If they can afford all those air Jordans then why can’t they afford some cameras and get some hard evidence.

I don’t like it that ACT leaders didn’t hang in on the anti-mandate stuff.
I don’t like some of the bluster and arrogance of ACT’s leader.
I don’t like the weak look to some of ACT’s top team.
I don’t like ACT’s statements about working with National and NZFirst.
BUT they are getting my party vote because they are the only party with a sensible, positive plan for the economy and that overrides everything else.

  I gave ACT my 2 ticks yesterday (candidate vote for anyone in my electorate is a total waste of time but…)
  
  I’ve always voted ACT, but this time around they got my vote almost by default because the rest are so hopelessly left of centre or completely bonkers.
  
  Historical ACT policies that were their bedrock have now disappeared, which I’m pissed off about – but again, no one else to vote for. The original ACT platform of funding each individual for health, education, welfare and retirement, combined with a savings based approach to these crucial functions (read up on Sir Roger Douglas for details) made total sense IMO. But these policies proved to be ‘unelectable’ after ACT tried in several elections.
  
  My hope is that these policies will be dusted off sometime in the future. And ultimately the current bollocks system of tax & debt and big govt spending will die anyway (basic maths will kick in within the next 20 years).
  
  The entire ‘western’ version of socialism that we now have is about to collapse under a mountain of Global Debt with the rising tide of interest rates. It is impossible for it to survive unless mathematics as an idea is suddenly proven to be wrong! No form of socialism has ever worked and it never will work.

Te Pati Maori have lost any respect people would have had for them with their accusations about Graham Gun, the guy is a legend in Huntly and does not have a racial bone in his body.
The man goes out of his way to help people and as a business man does a lot for the Community and Families that live here, so he has signs on his corner property promoting National but that doesn’t make him a criminal like Te Pati Maori President and Party have made out and won’t change my view on what has happened here also.

  I read, essentially the same article on newshub yesterday. This to me is one of the major problems with the media in NZ. They leave out the important details in stories for you to guess what really happened.
  
  Instead of saying, ‘a Mungrel Mob member knifed a female shopper in Countdown Dunedin’, they say ‘a tatooed man knifed a shopper in a Dunedin super market’. Its then up to the reader to try and guess what really happened. In the example above I guessed he was a gang member and it wasn’t until months later when a photo was released I confirmed he was (by his patches).
  
  In the house invasion story you reference their is clearly something else going on here. I cant work it out from the details so I am left guessing. My guesses are the following…
  
  1) This is a disgruntled ex partner
  2) This is a family member and its somesort of family issue
  3) This is a local gang member and the media dont want to use the gang word
  4) This was a neighbour wanting to complain about something.
  
  Who knows, certainly the police and the journalists do but they aren’t letting on. Makes one wonder why we have a media.
  
  Also will add this is horrible treatment of Nat / Act by TPM and Labour. Both should be forced to apologise for smearing the right when they likely knew it was nothing of the sort.

I have just recently came back to NZ from a lengthy overseas holiday. I have been following the election campaign via Kiwiblog and the occasional Newstalk ZB podcast. Occasionally I heard the odd reference to TV coverage and I assume the usual One/Newshub bias in place.
Anyway last night I made the mistake of watching Newshub news. To my absolute amazement the headline was about some elderly National party supporter (whether he was a National party member was not revealed) who had visited a Te Pati maori candidate’s house. Perhaps if he was a senior party official or he had come round with a baseball bat there might be a smidgen of interest in the story. As it was he seemed an amiable old codger and not a fanatical deranged racist. How this makes the news let alone headline can only be put down as a desperate Newshub attempt to smear the Nats. Any other party and it just wouldn’t be news,
Then the next item. The absolutely odious Jenna Lynch full of vile and sarcasm with yet another hatchet job on Nationals tax plan. It was clear she was doing her utmost to portray the Nat’s in the most negative light possible.
Next item which should have been the headline and reflects modern day NZ – a violent dairy robbery.
At this point I headed for the sanctity of Trackside!
We are so poorly served by our TV media. They are biased, seem incapable of engaging in weighty matters such as the economy, educational outcomes, infrastructure, health system etc. It seems they are more interested in scrolling through Social media accounts (only National and ACT of course) looking for dirt.
Watching news from overseas the news was always about major issues – economy (even macroeconomics), trade, infrastructure, health, system failures, education. They obviously treat the viewer with a little more respect for their intelligence.
Newshub is appalling and Jenna Lynch and before her Tova O’Brien represent the worst in journalism. Still I have learnt my lesson – I might watch Newshub once more time this year – October 15 if the results go as I want- just to see the look on Jenna’s face.

    I agree. I used to watch One news and Newshub and the coverage was so annoying that I would be irritable for the rest of the evening. I’ve desisted for some time but I thought there might be a new poll hence why I tuned into Newshub and then my mouth was agape at the staggering inanity of the news.
    Even Simon Dallow whose just meant to read the bloody news puts as much negative inflection as he possibly can when it’s a negative National/Act story.
    Best to stick to Kiwiblog and I must say Mike Hosking, HDPA, Barry Soper and Kerry Woodham on Newstalk ZB provide bloody good commentary on this miserable excuse of a government.

In Sonia Elijah’s 28-minute interview with Joshua Guetzkow, senior lecturer at Hebrew University, he discusses how Pfizer/BioNTech’s biological product injected into the arms of billions, was not the same one used in Pfizer’s mRNA vaccine clinical trial. There’s been a “bait-and-switch”….

In the interview, Guetzkow also refers to the fact how the regulators were aware of the drop in the RNA integrity of the commercial batches of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, compared to the clinical ones but simply lowered the standard just before emergency use authorisation was granted. In June 2022, I investigated the leaked European Medicines Agency emails which exposed this scandal in my original 2-part report for Trial Site News, which can be read here.

        Seven years ago New Zealand was a fairly comfortable place to live, and refugees were allowed some latitude in health status, so it is quite possible that he qualified.
        Perhaps living the good life added to his weight problems and I know a couple of born-and-bred Kiwis who have put on significant weight after losing their jobs and being locked down – depression will do that to a person.

      I value life as much as anyone, no matter the age, but the average age of death from covid is higher than the normal average age of death.
      
      The vast majority of those who died had major comorbidities that a bad bout of regular flu would have caused the same outcome. They died WITH covid, not FROM covid. We are talking a few months for most of them.
      
      Meanwhile, excess all cause mortality is running at 15% above normal. People are dying ‘suddenly’ from something and it correlates with the jab. The negative impacts of lockdowns, missed medical diagnoses, mental health problems due to relationship and financial problems, these will have some bearing on the increase, but the bulk of it will be down to the jabs.
      
      But nobody in government wants to investigate why.
      They spent billions ‘protecting’ a few near death people, bombarded us with propaganda to tell us just how ‘deadly’ it was when it clearly and provably wasn’t.
      Now there actually is a serious health crisis and nobody wants to know what is causing it?
      
      Of course, with up to 14% of the MoH secretly having been exempted from getting this poison (and who knows which other government employees got a similar deal) it’s probably no wonder the chair polishers don’t want this discussed.

      My ex-wife’s sister moved from Hospital to an aged care center. She was 51 I think.
      Found deceased in the morning and taken to the crematorium. Family not allowed in the property to pay last respects. She had Covid, but in reality she died from throat Cancer that she had been battling for 12 years.

      GJM – anyone who died within 2 weeks of getting jabbed is deemed to be ‘unvaccinated’. Most who died with a positive test, died WITH covid, not from it.
      In many cases, as per the driveway shooting, the covid positive status was a box ticking exercise, and of course never forget, the tests are ridiculously unreliable and the inventor of the PCR test, Kary Mullins, said they should NEVER be used as a diagnostic tool for disease.
      
      According to a nurse I spoke to in hospital when I was getting a procedure, they are less than 50% accurate. He wanted to test me before seeing the Doc. I asked the accuracy. When he told me that I said I wasn’t having it and if it was a problem I would go home.
      Doctor saw me and treated me without even wearing a mask.
      Deadly disease? Yeah nah.
      
      The whole numbers were distorted quite deliberately to support the narrative. It’s a story that is rapidly unravelling.

  This is why we can’t just “move on” as many on this blog want. If you don’t understand the danger of letting this thing pass without some kind of accountability for those responsible, we are destined to repeat it.

Conspiracy theory UN behind Aussie “Voice” campaign …

An Aussie TV star reckons a “yes” vote in “The Voice” indigenous rights referendum would lead to a UN takeover, and a Net conspiracy theory is spreading.

The video is by Nicola Charles, described by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation as “once the darling of Australian television, known for her role as Sarah Beaumont in the show Neighbours during the 90s.”

The ABC says Charles’s video has had half a million views, and its “shares” outnumber those of videos by the official campaign and by opponent Pauline Hanson.

The broadcaster says that, in the last few weeks, the conspiracy theory suggesting “the Voice” is a secret plot devised by the UN to strip Australians of their private property and sovereignty has spread like wildfire.

Australians vote on “the Voice” in a referendum the same day as our general election.

If carried, “The Voice” would provide permanent representation and recognition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people via a new body providing input into decisions made by the government.

In background explanation of the issue, the University of New South Wales cites the UN declaration of the rights of indigenous people.

Under John Key, NZ signed up to this declaration, though NZ was one of four countries that voted against it at the UN in 2007 (the other three were Australia, the United States and Canada).

Looking more and more likely that Peters will be involved in a centre right coalition. As others have said on here, can’t see that 3 way arrangement lasting. I guess if it all implodes after 3-6 months then they’ll have another election and boot the guy to touch permanently on the second iteration.

Alternatively, not out of the realms of possibility that Peters goes back on his word and goes to the highest bidder ie Labour. In that case the top NZ tax rate will go to 45% to pay for all the financial mess NZ Hipkins and co have got us into. (I’m picking Peter’s bottom line will be compensation for people who feel they have been damaged by the vax or mandated out of their jobs during the pandemic as they are the people who are going to get him over the 5% line).

Would have to then weigh up a move to Oz, as the tax differential between Oz and here would have narrowed considerably if tax rates are hiked here post election. The bulk of our household income is in the $180k+ level. Up till now NZ has been more advantageous tax wise to stay here.

The only thing now with living in NZ is that the co governance fall out, racial divide and rampant crime, with a strong racial element to the main perpetrators, is now ‘in your face’ if you live in NZ and you can’t get away from it. To the point where you say how much is it worth it to get away from this crap, in terms of higher Oz tax?

Anyway election night for us will be very interesting. Will be watching with baited breath. Very interested to see which polling company was most accurate in the last week of the campaign.

Many people seem to be fixated on getting rid of Labour next week at any cost.

Sure they have been extremely damaging, but please think longer term too.

Imagine what a train wreck a National/Act/NZF coalition would be. The damage caused by that would likely see a flip back to Labour/Greens in 2026 and National and Act suffering longer term damage.

First prize is clearly that NZF doesn’t make it to the party, but that’s looking less and less likely every day.

Hipkins did the Goebbels thing denying anyone was forced to get jabbed. Then we find out it is likely that thousands of Ministry of Health employees got exemptions, this included administrators.

All the while these people were telling the rest of us to get jabbed and/or sticking the needle in the arms of fellow citizens, many who believed they were part of a “team of five million”.

Ursula Edgington PhD, who writes under the title Informed Heart on Substack has sent me a partial breakdown of 6,700 medical staff granted vaccine exemptions provided through a 29th September 2022 OIA H2022009529. It appears from the OIA HNZ00023978 dated 2 August 2023 that we reported yesterday that the actual total may be as high as 11,005. This figure includes over 1,500 administrative managers.

The health service employs around 80,500 staff. This means that as many as 14% of MoH staff were granted exemptions. Previous mainstream media coverage accessible to the public has only reported that a total of 81 vaccine exemptions (not the actual 11,005) were granted to Ministry of Health staff.

  It’s pure bullshit. I’ve worked in NZ hospitals for more than 35 years. EVERY doctor currently working in an NZ hospital is vaccinated and not just against COVID. Your vaccination record is linked to your NHI. There’s no faking it.
  During the pandemic if you didn’t vaccinate you were mandated out. The idea that 11000 doctors were unvaccinated and working is simply not credible.
  There are very significant problems with the story. NO sources other than “somebody told me”; 95 consultants in Dunedin would mean all of them and more; “secret gagging orders” that no one has seen; the premise that 11000 people didn’t talk to anyone about this for more than 2 years, and the fact that none of us are actually employed by the MOH.
  This is pure disinformation designed around the premise that doctors knew about problems with the vaccine and somehow conspired to pretend they were vaccinated when they weren’t (which is just pure paranoid fantasy)
  The real story here is who is disseminating this and why?

    Almost all other vaccines are far safer and more efficacious than Covid vax.
    
    Measles is extremely infectious and kills about 0.1-0.3% of kids infected and can leave life-long damage to more (blindness, brain damage etc). It is only stopped from circulation (herd immunity) by having something like 90% vaccinated/immune.
    
    Given Benefits/risk ratio it’s hard to make any solid argument for non-vaccination.

There is a bit of a buzz around the latest Taxpayers Union/Curia poll, due out at lunchtime – with suggestions it could finally yield some good news for Chris Hipkins.

The Post’s National Affairs Editor Andrea Vance understands that over the last couple of days Labour’s internal polls have National tracking down, and Labour up, slightly. A caveat – it’s usually best to give overnight polls a week to see if a trend beds in.

But if the TPU poll mirrors this result, it will be a gamechanger for the election campaign – and certainly make the final week much more interesting.

    When the police caught up with the perp who had robbed the store and killed the shop attendent with a gun, the diver who was not there, not involved and did not know it had happened was also charged and convicted of the murder and they both got the death sentence…..hard to say that, that is fair IMO.

On August 17 Shae Dobbs entered a woman’s home and announced “I told you I’d be back”, then assaulted her with a pitchfork, pieces of wood, a terracota pot plant, and stomped her head. She is still in hospital recovering from 5 lost teeth, multiple fractures including every rib broken, numerous other wounds to her head and body. He asked neighbours, who filmed the assault, for petrol to “burn the demon”. They must have been terrified. He said she owed him 23 million dollars. The journalist said its unclear what sparked the attack.

I figured this wouldn’t be his first rodeo so had a Google and discovered meth head Shae Dobbs was arrested in 2020 for setting up a “last supper” where he threatened to kill 3 people with an axe. He told Police it was a joke. He also threatened a person via a letter who had a protection order against him (the woman assaulted 3 years later?). The judge said his behavior was “very concerning” and sentenced him to 18 months supervision. His lawyer said he was not in his right mind due to substance abuse his sentence should be rehabilitative. How did that go?

This guy was a ticking time bomb, just another example of our soft judiciary who think some cuddles will put these poor souls on the right track. Have a search for Shae Dobbs and see if you agree with me. Some people are beyond help and need to be kept away from society forever.

2 Standards of Justice.

1. Boy Racer (Adam Rapson). 18 years old. No priors. Charged with Manslaughter.

Media Justice = Face and photo in paper.

2. Violent home invasion, hits woman with wood, stabs with pitchfork, woman put in coma, every rib broken, fled police. August 18 (Shea Ryan Dobbs)

Media Coverup – No photo in paper, no mention of his serious past history.

But then at the bottom of the same article we see “Dobbs also pleaded guilty to burglary” on Feb 17, and “Threatening to Kill” May 14.

A google and I find even more previous history not mentioned in the current article about who this person is.

Shea Ryan Dobbs in 2021 was sentenced to 18 months supervision and drug rehab. He had set up a fake scene in a shed of a “last supper” for three. “Imitation firearms were laid in place of cutlery, while 2 axes, a wheel barrow and plastic bins were at the ready to dispose of their bodies.”

“Dobbs initially told police it was meant to be a joke then got angry, said he was going to kill one victim and would not say anymore.”

The judge said his sentence should focus on rehabilitation because he’d already spent time in prison.

Why does the media run the photo of one person but not the other. Why isn’t there a full description of criminals priors. Why wasn’t Shea bought to the courts in May when he threatened to kill

Call me suspicious but it’s funny that some rural polling stations are not open on the 14th but open for just a few hours on the 8th. Others in areas like Motueka, a socialist haven have two polling stations open every day of early all the way to the 14 th. Now I have done the polling manager bit in past elections and this is not the usual case. There was no notification of this either other than the arrival, late , of the voting packs.

    “if they don’t live in Wellington they can all get stuffed”………………………pork and potatoes for dinner.
    This was best shown in the information provided to Rachael Smalley (spelling?). The dismissive arrogant attitude was sickening.
    The wait time on the phone to government offices is disgraceful. Another symptom. The list goes on and on.

  Although, I suspect the reason he has been remanded in custody is that he is facing “other unrelated charges”. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if he was already out on home D awaiting trial on some other assault charges.

It is understood that Andrea Vance has gone home to change her knickers after getting over-excited and wetting herself earlier about a possible turn round for Labour in the latest Taxpayers’ Union poll.

Turns out that Labour are up a bit, but so are National. Worse than that for Andrea and the other left-wing harpies is that Luxon has pulled ahead of Hipkins in the Preferred PM stakes.

Taxpayers Curia poll

The party vote totals showed NZ First on the way up, reaching its highest result in recent polls, with 6.9%.

National was at 35.9%
Labour was at 27.9%
The Greens were at 10.6%
And ACT was down to 9.1%
Te Pāti Māori would bring in more MPs, with 3.7% – as long as it wins an electorate.

It’s interesting that all the insults directed by KBs on this blog and by David Seymour at Winston Peters and his supporters as being dumb cretins has rebounded on them with this latest poll. Ofcourse Winston can’t be trusted nor can any other politician don’t forget that.
As one of those who are continually insulted by this blog should tell you why I have voted for NZF. I am a lifelong Labour voter and one time member when it was a true Labour Party. So in 2023 where do I go as cannot vote Labour with this mob. To ensure our Labour MP is thrown out swallowed a rat and ticked blue. Now where does my party vote go ?. It was going to ACT until Seymour got to big for his boots then I remembered the Labour traitors who started ACT and helped to create the middle class party Labour is today. Yes some of us have very long memories that’s a reality we are tribal. So where to go ? The old rogue Winnie yes he is a populist but he speaks to middle NZ warts and all. This is the reason us old time farts have moved the dial plus the Nats leadership lacks the guts to address the real issues facing NZ. A space minister give me a break. Have a great election. Have not forgotten the bet with Handley. Apologise if I have spelt your name incorrectly.

Has anyone else noticed the latest Taxpayer’s Union poll? Act would get 12 seats and NZF 9 seats. When Act polled to have 15 or more seats and NZF was around 5% Seymour could have a little justification for saying he would not work with Peters with the hope that would put NZF under 5%. However, with NZF almost certain to make the 5% Seymour should respect the will of the voters as Luxon will.

As much as Seymour’s arrogance pisses me off I still voted Act because of Act’s farmer-friendly policies.

On the Taxpayers / Curia poll.

NZF are clearly going to be kingmaker. While everyone seems convinced there is no way Peter’s will go with Labour, I think it’s at least 50/50 that he will – a desperate Labour party have no principles and they will offer him far more than National can. Anyone who thinks Hipkins won’t be picking up the phone if the numbers are there is a fool. And anyone who thinks that Peter’s won’t take that call is an even greater fool. Regardless, weeks of delay await us as Peter’s does his will he / won’t he gig – he will be insufferable!

Second thought is the split generally. Take NZF out as a centrist party (and that’s debatable), then you’re left with National / Act on 45% versus Lab / Green / Maori on 42%. With a margin of error of 3.1% that is ridiculously close. With all the stuff wrong in this country, the left block should be getting it’s ass handed to it – not in a position to form a government if Peter’s feels like some more utu on National.

So. we’ve either got 3 years of National / ACT / NZF government – which due to Peter’s being able to neuter ACT, will not really change much and is horribly at risk of National then being a 1 term government before a revitalized left gets back in, or just as likely 3 years of a shitshow whereby Labour get a deal together with NZF with side deals with Greens and Maori – probably separate cabinet tables to keep them all apart!

Complete circus either way!

Mentioned in an earlier post my mate who’s looking at opportunities in Aussie………might see if he has that agents number!!!!

The story goes go on to say that their own most recent hire was disgraced Labor Cabinet Minister Stewart Nash. Apparently Stew is about to take up the position of ‘Corporate Director’ based in their Wellington Office.

Fascinating interview on the Platform with Raf Manji of Top who is now saying he would go with centre right ie Nats, if he won Ilam and held the balance of power. He said it would require an Epsom type arrangement with the Nats standing aside but Nats are not open to that. That’s a shame, that would be an interesting scenario and avoid the Peters factor. It’s on Plunket’s full show session about half way through.

I paid a sub for The Platform. They are great. Some very interesting interviews. Consume more of this now than newstalkzb. The long form interviews on the Platform site only available to subscribers are well worth the $14 per month.

Watching Te Karere for a while this afternoon, a full segment seemed to be devoted to the Labour candidate for Manurewa. Followed her around door knocking (everyone seemed to be voting Labour).
A few scenes about Ramraids, but the candidate said Labour had this covered with some wrap-around services.
Why is TVNZ running these ads for Labour ?
I’d like to see an anti-corruption unit set up after the election to monitor State Media, to ensure they are balanced in their political coverage.

If the water supply was the problem then THOUSANDS of Queenstown residents and visitors would be affected, not just 60.
Why are they not looking for the common denominator for the affected people ? Location, pub, restaurant, social gathering, meeting, movie theatre, whatever ?

The 24-year-old facing multiple charges after two people were stabbed in an Auckland dairy yesterday was on electronic bail at the time.

He is charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one count of resisting police.
