You have to laugh at the hypocritical standards of the media and the circus about Winston Peter’s of bias and bribery comments that he made.
The media and their staff are going all out to have him disciplined and reprimanded whilst trying to make out Christopher Luxon is weak and can’t control him for his outbursts of what many in the public believe is the truth.
If you want to see double standards from our media this is a great example, the same media outlets have allowed their own Journalists to bad mouth Christopher Luxon the Prime Minister for more than a year now before National won the right to form a Coalition Government after the General Election on October 14th 2013, and still now after the Government was formed.
Here is some great examples for my argument Jenna Lynch and Lloyd Burr from Newshub have been bad mouthing the Government and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon since well before the Government was formed ,Simon Dallow and Maiki Sherman from One News and Tova O’Brien from Stuff have done the same with also distorting the facts in most articles and have they been disciplined for their outbursts Political bias that they have said or written.
Here is a example from Maili Sherman over the political debate between Christopher Luxon and Chri Hipkins National against Labour , after the debate the panel gave their opinion on who that thought won the contest and when it came to who she voted her reply was oh I can’t vote against Chris he is my friend so we will call it a draw in case you don’t know Chris was the current Prime Minister and if that is not bias what is.
Have you ever seen anyone the above names been called out and disciplined by their employers, no but they are forever calling for the Government and Prime Minister to hold others to accountant if this is not bias what the hell would you call it as it is arrogant and disceitful from people that don’t like the truth.

  We also Labour admitting the Treaty provision shouldn’t have been there while then having a go at him.
  Signing up to a financial agreement which binds you editorially to a certain position is against journalistic ethics. And I say this as a hack for 34 years.

I don’t know much about Simon Watts, the new Climate Change Minister. He seems to have kept a low profile.

He has confirmed that he is attending the United Nations Climate Change meeting in Dubai, which begins tomorrow. Incredibly, he has decided to take James Shaw with him. Why? 🤯 and why did Chris Luxon agree to it?

The new Minister has all the resources of MFAT and MfE available to help him navigate the conference. Based on previous conferences, New Zealand will have a delegation of between 10 and 15 officials accompanying the Minister. He should not need James Shaw. This is a very bad decision.

  As a general principle, I think the idea of taking members of all parties to conferences, or having them in ministerial positions, is the right thing to do.
  
  In other words take the best MPs and put them in positions no matter what party they are from.
  
  If you really, really, believe in Climate Twaddle then Shaw is probably the best we have in the land.
  
  If you look closely enough you will probably find that James Shaw and Simon Watts are soul mates. I doubt we’re going to see any real change of direction in NZ policies.
  
  I really, really, hope I am wrong on that, but I doubt it.

    James Shaw has condemned the Government’s decision to reverse the oil and gas exploration ban. I guarantee that Simon Watts will be questioned about that at the conference.

      That is true, but tit-for-tat is a childish game. Need to break the cycle.
      
      Bribing Shaw with conferences might make him shut up about oil and gas. However I suspect that Simon Watts agrees with Shaw on this. Again, I hope I am wrong on this.

        Nat MP Scott Simpson, then opposition Climate Change spokesperson, attended COP27.

    Shaw – the “Best in the land?”. Really? Shaw behaved like Stalin & sacked his only two climate change experts who were MP’s in the Greens when they objected to having a fraudster as co-leader. After it was proven beyond doubt & she was “let go” he refused to let them back. I find him totally untrustworthy as his claimed academic credentials prove. Just another fraud.

    The Minister is only there for a few days. The officials attend hundreds of committee meetings hammering out the details of policy.
    
    There are two streams. A “policy stream” and a “science stream”. The New Zealand delegation is tiny. I last attended a conference nearly 20 years ago. The USA and EU delegations were about 200 officials.
    
    You might think that it is all a waste of time. However those New Zealand officials will be flat out for 14 hours a day Monday through Saturday.

      BY – they may be ‘flat out’, I’d really like to know what it is they actually achieve.
      
      I’m all about ‘hard work’, but the key thing is the cost/benefit. We seem to have lost sight of that as a country. I cannot imagine what these people will achieve that is of any benefit to NZ. Particularly when there is zero evidence that the climate is actually an issue, other than in many ideologue’s heads.

        Yes Clan “Hard work” can be and often is a total wasted effort if being expended on rubbish policy.
        There needs to be a fresh start debate on the actual effect human endeavour is having on causing the slow warming of the planet since the last Ice Age.
        Ms Maureen Pugh was not a lone voice in asking the question that incurred what many see as the blinkered acceptance of the current Prime Minister around fossil fuel use that has lifted many millions from abject poverty.
        Sadly he will not even give such reactionary thought a moment of time and will continue to put billions on a bonfire.

        This is the “business as usual” approach – we might get a bit warmer and have a bit more CO2 but there’s really no reason to worry. No reason to suppose anything will change because it hasn’t really in the last few hundred years. Looking back over our shoulders the road behind us looks fine.
        
        There are serious scientists pointing some of the climate risks from our present course of action. eg Melting of the Siberian permafrost – which is happening – will generate a serious methane fart. Which will warn things more which will generate more methane ….
        
        The “business as usual” model airily dismisses the notion of tipping points. If we hit one there is generally no way back. Warming plus aerosols might turn off the Indian monsoon bur why should we care if a few billion brown folk starve?
        
        There is history to support that idea that the climate can be an angry beast when there are external forcings. The Sahara was once a green and verdant place. Putting an extra 200 billion tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere qualifies as fairly significant forcing. If the ocean slowly acidifies from this there will be consequences and no way back. If (when) the oceans warm some more we can expect more intense hurricanes and typhoons.
        
        It might well be that eg slowing down the Gulf Stream and chilling Europe doesn’t matter.
        
        We just have the one planet and I guess it comes down to how lucky you feel ….

      BTW the weekly news letter from Muriel Newman has praised the 3 amigos but has also highlighted how this government is going to fail New Zealand over the climate change scam.
      
      But while the coalition agreements contain vast numbers of welcome changes, one area where all parties appear to have let New Zealand down is climate change.
      
      The country desperately needs agriculture to flourish, yet in committing to Labour’s radical target to “Deliver Net Zero by 2050”, the coalition appears to have turned its back on farmers in order to appease environmental interests and pursue a woke global warming agenda.

    It is incredible that this comes under no scrutiny. I very much doubt that Chris Luxon would want to discuss it.
    
    The article discusses a position paper from the UNFCCC that predicts that emissions in 2030 will only be reduced by 0.9 percent compared to the 45 percent reductions pledged in the Paris Accords. 🤡 Yet New Zealand is going to hand over $30 billion to developing countries to buy carbon credits.
    
    Meanwhile, global emissions are at a record high. Daily oil consumption is also at a record high.

        Dudley, it does not reduce emissione because the selling countries were not going to use their quotas anyway.
        
        For example somewhere like Angola or whatever is about as developed as it is going to ever be. They won’t ever be using their credits.
        
        But the West then buys them and uses them.
        
        Nothing changes except the West sending money to the corrupt officials in the shitholistan countries.

        Not true. Emissions have increased in New Zealand. Of course China and India are the huge issues.
        
        However Australia has declined nearly 30 percent from the peak 20 years ago.

        Much of this is switching out coal for natural gas. That would have happened even if there were no “climate change policies”. The irony is that this switch will be curtailed in New Zealand because we are running out of gas.
        
        Emissions will probably peak in about 2030, but this “net zero” for New Zealand is a fantasy. If we keep trying it will bankrupt the country. I don’t know whether Chris Luxon does not get it, or he just kicking the can down the road.

  He does not need Shaw but it is a good diplomatic move as Shaw is only days out of a job, and Watts needs to breath through his mouth in his new appointment, and this may well give him insights to what he has taken on with the accompaniment people from the Ministries.
  In my opinion not a bad decision after all.

      We should be sitting there with the latest IPCC report in hand, the go to document on the state of the climate and read the section that says “there are no indications of CO2 impacting on the climate, no upwards trend in storms, sea level, drought, etc”. This is specifically in the lates report.
      Then ask: “In the light of this why are we still talking about this nonsense?”
      Then they can all come home and life can return to normal.

      Anyone who knew about the nuclear dregs lying round all over the world might have some reservations about it ….
      
      There has been all sorts of talk about where spent fuel and reprocessing dregs can be buried. Basically none of it has happened anywhere. There are a lot of spent fuel elements sitting in cooling ponds and reprocessing leftovers sitting water-cooled stainless steel tanks. They contain radioactive isotopes with half-lives measured in centuries so we should be able to take them out of the ponds in three or four centuries so long as the coolant flow is not disturbed. Ditto for the stainless tanks full of long-life nasties.
      
      And that’s before we get into the serious amounts of radioactive stuff that will come from the dismantling of decommissioned reactors.
      
      No worries – there should be a solution Real Soon Now …..

        There is a massive difference between reducing pollution and reducing CO2 emissions.
        
        The yellow skies of Beijing etc are not caused by CO2.
        
        Atmospheric CO2 levels are not responsible for any respiratory health issue in any person world wide.
        
        The sooner we can get over this CO2 scam, the sooner we can divert those energies into real environmental issues that really matter.
        
        Imagine we took the $10 to 20 billion dollars we are likely to spend on carbon credits and put that into something vaguely effective for real environmental issues like saving wetlands or restocking dropping eel populations or something.
        
        That would at least achieve something more useful that arguing over plant food.

    China is trying quite hard. I think something like half the nuclear power plants under construction (worldwide) are in China. They pretty have the solar cell business wrapped up. They have the world’s largest hydro scheme (Three Gorges) and are pissing off their downstream south asian neighbours with plans to keep building more dams.

      They are however driven by improving air quality in cities for both health and aesthetic reasons.
      
      CO2 has zero impact on human health or aesthetics. CO2 levels are so low that people cannot notice them (indeed you wouldn’t notice breathing in air with CO2 100x higher). Nor can you see CO2 (unless you are Greta).

        No. It is not a declarable gift. All that happens is Air NZ advances new MP’s sufficient status points to get Koru membership and lounge access (which I would not begrudge MP’s). These status points are paid back as MP’s fly in the execution of their duties. It is not obnoxious unlike Qantas who gives Australian politicians access to its ‘Chairmans Lounges’ which you cannot access no matter how rich you are (unless invited).

  Benedict. I respectfully disagree with you and think it is a good idea to have Shaw attend.
  
  Irrespective of personal views of Shaw, his party, or CC – he is good operator at these COP events, can navigate the politics there, and is held in high regard by other COP members.
  
  If anything, Shaw can provide another view to Watts to that given by MFAT and MFE, which is not always that good or is clouded by Wellington breauratic group think.
  
  Last COP Shaw was criticised for only to half the event. In fact, week 1 is the glitzy, no substance week – which of course has the media focus. Week 2 is when the real work is done around a negotiation table.

      If I run a business/household and remove an income stream, the immediate effect on the balance sheet will be negative. Same as if I started up a new spending program without revenue to fund it.
      
      Some folk believe that unfunded tax cuts will always stimulate the economy. It is largely an item of faith and the evidence is a bit thin. I think it’s known as the “trickle-down” theory.

        Tax cuts reward productive workers, they will often work harder due to the increased incentive. Overall impact is an actual increase in tax take.
        
        Also, they will mostly spend that extra income in the national economy, contributing to economic growth, not to mention the GST take on everything they spend.
        
        It’s completely different from the unproductive lolly scramble which Labour have burdened the country with.
        
        Money earned in providing products or services is productive, it is the lubrication for the economy. Wasteful government spending is sand in the gears.

        The trickle down theory is a myth, actually coined by the left. Try finding the economist who came up with the theory. You cant.
        
        There is plenty of evidence that tax cuts do stimuilate the economy. Opponents usually white ant by claiming it was other factors during the time period. As with all things of this scale it is hard to 100% prove that x change was the particular factor.
        
        I will say though, that it is proven that the ‘market’ is a better allocator of funds than any individual. So the concept that 5million NZers will better allocate their tax cut money that 20 odd cabinet members, is likely true.

      Through tax cuts the productive able to retain more funds these are invested in the wider economy. That is the production of goods and services in demand in various markets at prices set in those markets. This produces more tax revenue for the state.

Interesting Adrian Orr’s monetary policy statement yesterday. Orr is seemingly no longer the friendly Reserve Bank governor…

Now all of a sudden he thinks immigration will be inflationary. An 180 degree turnaround on his previous stance. Really? Never thought that about immigration when his mates Jacinda, Chippy and Robbo were running the country.

Is this guy really an impartial appointment or was he just bought out by Labour, as were many others at the trough? That is a seriously scary scenario with the influence he holds over NZ and its economic outcomes.

I’ve got a suggestion for the new government – Orr maybe needs to have regular meetings – every couple of days- on how he’s going with his remit. I nominate Shane Jones to conduct these meetings with Orr…

Also Chris Hipkins seems to think that as Winston did not object to the Journalism Fund at the time then Winston should still be restrained by Cabinet Collective Responsibility on this.

  Not trying to defend Winston Peters or anything but Labour’s hating of Winston is bizarre.
  
  My recollection of the 2017-2020 years, was that Winston was the perfect gentleman to Labour. (Frustratingly the coalition didn’t collapse as was wishfully expected – from the POV of Labour/NZF/Greens being incompatible).
  
  Instead Winston always publicly supported Labour when they came up with daft policy. Pretty much to the every end – the 2020 election (even in spite of the SFO investigation).
  
  Sure we won’t know what actually went on behind the scenes with Labour/NZF 2017-2020, but considering NZF enabled Labour to gain power their attacks on Winston/NZF in the lead up to and post the 2023 election seems rather petty.

    Winston turned against Labour when it became obvious being in government with them wasn’t doing NZF’s prospects of returning to parliament any good.
    Same thing happened when he was last in coalition with National. In 1999 they went from 17 seats to 5 and only hung on because Winston won Tauranga
    Odds on they’ll be out at the next election to nobody’s dismay, unless they can scrap together 5% malcontents who think everyone is out to get them.
    I would say Peters is going to be a pain in the arse for Mr Luxon for the next three years, because he can.

The Herald asks whether we really need a Minister of Space.

The space sector, and more importantly the space-linked sectors (eg. electronics and satellite communications) are a growing part of NZ’s economy, but I struggle to see the benefit of adding government oversight to the industry.

Almost all, if not all, of that sector is foreign owned. The direction that these companies develop in is directed by those foreign entities.

What does having a minister and their staff really help an industry? Are we just going to see more hand outs to space companies and Maori mythology in space?

Besides, I’d far prefer Judith Collins went back to Minister of Police and did her “crusher” act again.

    The overnment gets involved in one of three ways:
    * providing a function (eg. social welfare).
    * subsidises (ie. extracting resources from productive parts of society and shovelling them into unproductive parts of society) because they think they know best and can make things better.
    * regulation (ie interfering, because, again they think they know best).
    
    Whenever they get into a new area like space, then how are they going to intervene?

      The success or otherwise of that bill isn’t be measured in number of cars crushed, but in prevalence of street racing and general unruly boy racer behaviour. It always struck me as a success because it was a simple deterrent that actually worked but then, like 3S, I think that criminals understand the effect of the bill much better than its critics.

        No one seemed to have a quantitative analysis on the deterrent value of 3S especially Justice officials. I hope that the new Justice Minister asks for that to be done based on data concerning 3S. The ‘bottom line’ test would be whether 3S would have resulted in a reduction in a reduction of people-days in prison compared with no 3S.
        As far as I am concerned the ‘manifestly unjust’ provision needs to be part of any new 3S legislation otherwise it would be left open to attacks concerning fairness and injustices.

        No, this is not the bottom line test for 3S. The test is whether there’s a reduction in “strike” crimes and a corresponding reduction in victims of “strike” crimes. David G’s feedback and a lot of articles on KB highlighting the type of “people” up for 3S would indicate that until the judiciary became anti-3S activists, the act was doing what was intended.

      The only vehicles actually crushed were those where salvage was not worth while. Most ‘confiscated’ vehicles would either be sold (with undesirable accessories removed) or scrapped for parts. Admittedly doing a public ‘crushing’ would be more of a publicity stunt.

Congratulations in particular to TV1 & Newshub news reporters for bringing back to the public’s attention how ‘corrupting’ aspects of the PIJF fund were but also NZ On Air’s funding guidelines which has been captured by divisive radical extremist race-based viewpoints (such as Maori never ceded sovereignty).

I think we had mostly forgotten about all of this (eg there was the odd comment here periodically asking what was the status of the PIJF. NZ On Air was barely mentioned), so well done those intrepid reporters for foolishly giving Winston oxygen! Now look at the unintended consequences!

Now the next steps forward is to ensure the coalition Govt removes the divisive, radical, racist race-based guidelines in the likes of the NZ On Air funding guidelines.

And no doubt other taxpayer funded guidelines such as the Marsden Fund.

  IMO, public perception is that Labour bribed their mates in the MSM to give them (Labour) favourable publicity.
  There were many examples of this once the PJIF had been formalised and at no time did the Govt or the MSM make any meaningful attempt to deny the situation they had created.

The next stage of the Gaza war will be significant in many ways. If it carries on and expands into a wider regional war involving Iran then the price of oil and natural gas is almost certainly going up. The Iranians ‘control’ the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow strip of water that links the Persian Gulf to the rest of the world. Iran has been crystal clear that it will close the Strait in the case Israel or the US attacks it. And it would likely take months for the US to sort out some sort of solution, if at all.

According to the US Energy Information Administration, more than 40% of global oil exports (around 21 million barrels) transit the Strait daily, along with 33% of the world’s LNG.

Back in the 1973 oil crisis, only 9% of the world’s oil supply was removed from the daily supply. The price of oil increased 4x.

So if Iran disrupts 40% of the world’s oil supply in the coming weeks/months we might see oil go over $300/barrel, maybe more. Who knows but it is likely to be huge considering Biden has drained the SPR and we are heading into a seasonal holiday demand peak.

    Iran only has Frigates (7)and Corvettes. Iirc three Frigates were made in the 70’and but four are reasonably modern. Two of the Corvettes are from the 60’s.

    Lastly, Iran has NEVER been able to close the Straits and they wont be able to this time.
    The whole idea of it is just not feasible. They just don’t have the equipment.
    
    And there will be no wider ‘Regional’ war (who between?). Just a continuation of the Skirmish’s and missile attacks we see now.

Imagine being an air traffic controller at Dubai’s airport. Thousands of private jets arriving loaded with hypocrites all trying to outdo each other telling me to stay home, no air travel, eat nuts, buy an electric car, cull my cows. Will there be enough caviar flown in by special jet from Moscow, Canadian salmon, flown in from Vancouver, French champagne flown from Nice, girls flown in from Amsterdam and Manila.

Imagine being the translator who will cover the Chinese delegate explaining that they are still commissioning two new coal fired power stations every week. Or the one explaining India’s cows are sacred and can keep belching methane.

The leader of the Maldives will be busy explaining how their new international airport just completed, will be underwater very soon.

The leader of Benin will get one and a half mins to explain that all the UN funds to help Africa deal with climate change got spent on consultants and universities in Europe.

Lastly, but not least the NZ delegation of National’s Watts, Green’s Shaw and the fifty Māori reps who reluctantly decided to attend will be explaining how their country is culling 20% of the beef and sheep and 5% of dairy. They will forget to mention NZ has the lowest carbon footprint of any food producer and that the latest science says methane is not an issue.

Is it just me? Listening RBNZ Governor Adrian Orr (being interviewed by MH) doesn’t give me much confidence that he is competently and confidently ‘leading’ the RBNZ’s response to NZ’s economic problems.

Apart from (still) not admitting Labours multi-billion dollar money printing and wasteful spending (and his role in this) as being a major contribution to NZ’s high inflation, he is still ‘crushing’ NZ’ers to reduce the effects of inflation.

For example we have high interest rates on the one hand but “hawkishly” he is stating they won’t be coming down until 2025 (whereas economic commentators are suggesting mid/late 2024).

Is he factoring that Labour are no longer Govt and National will cut wasteful govt spending?

Granted I know he doesn’t want inflation to rise if NZers go on spending sprees (realistically they will mostly pay off debt plus provide a lifeline of sorts to retailers) but not only is Orr’s stance ‘crippling’ those with mortgages (also impacting those paying rents), he ‘crippling’ the export-earning agricultural sectors as farmers and producers have to pay higher interest rates (apparently rural banking interest rates are higher than for standard homeowners).

That’s a lose-lose situation for everyone eg for farmers that can’t keep up with high interest rates, the cost of produce for NZers and potentially less tax revenue for Govt.

I’m sure Adrian Orr is a nice fellow but it’s surely time for him to be replaced with someone else with a new vision, is pro-active and can deliver for the new Govt and NZ’ers?

    I’m more than happy with the quality and attention my family have received from NZ trained doctors.
    
    It’s usually a random assortment of take who is available down at the medical centre.
    
    Hubby was seen by a MAPS graduate when he showed angina symptoms earlier this year…and was immediately processed for bypass surgery. Back in Gizzy he is more than happy to be under the eye of the MAPS grad doctor.
    
    We need a system in NZ where all folks who qualify for entry to Med School are well supported… and we need to investigate why some schools do not prepare their obviously capable students adequately for Med school entry.
    
    From what I can gather most folks who enter Med School through the MAPS scheme have needed extra tuition in Maths/physics/Chemistry/study methods.

      That’s not too bad, except that after all this investment there is undoubtedly also some pressure on the testing and examinations etc to get them to pass.
      
      Once you start fiddling with the system then it undoes the credibility of the qualifications.
      
      Why should any patient believe that a Maori doctor is as good as a non-Maori? The worst impact here is that it will undermine credibility in the Maori who could have succeeded on a level playing field.

      The obvious thing is that the right to a lawyer doesn’t apply from the moment of arrest.
      
      It applies from being charged, which happens at the station. This is so you can get representation before being tried in court.
      
      I mean, can you imagine if police had to hold and detain you on the street until a lawyer could be brought to the place of the offence. Ridiculous.

        you’ve been arrested
        
        you’re being held (detained) without being arrested, for example if you’re being searched for illegal drugs or weapons

        Being detained is a specific legal power. It’s not the same as the police merely asking you what you’ve just witnessed or if you’ve seen something suspicious.
        
        The police can only detain you when the law says they can, else you are free to go. So being detained means you are under the same control as if you were arrested because if you refuse to be detained you will be arrested for not complying with a lawful order.
        
        It’s such an important power that it is illegal to arbitrarily detain someone. It’s forbidden by the Bill of Rights.
        
        Under those circumstances it is not ridiculous at all to have the right to legal counsel.

        I would expect that you are “required to accompany them for the purposes of an evidential breath test or blood test” but that you can request a lawyer before taking that test. Of you try to do that on the street then you have no control over them.

  But there is the opportunity to develop more quickly without identity “membership” based on religious affiliation or non-affiliation.
  
  Within the community, there is a spectrum of views about the significance of religious or spiritual beliefs to Māori identity.

  According to a Māori chap in the clergy, young Māori brought up in the Kura kaupapa Māori-language immersion schools can be taught that Christianity is bad (Colonialism etc) and of course they embrace Māori mythology (Gods etc).
  
  Traditional Christian churches will have older generations of Māori (and Pakeha & so on) but declining number of younger generations of Māori, particularly in the cities/urban environments. Perhaps/partially because of this.
  
  Which is a shame, considering the accusations of “colonialism” and “suppression” against (1800’s) Christianity by modern day activists (rather than embrace diversity of thought and practice of their shared history etc).
  
  I feel these people are also disrespecting their ancestors who voluntarily embraced Christianity and its tenets of compassion, forgiveness and equality etc.
  
  Exactly the sorts of things that many Maori of the time welcomed … no-more (or less) inter-tribal conflict (death) or slavery and so on.

On the weekend a young kid (12ish maybe) went to the Chiefs game in red and black face paint with a full Indian headdress.

A “reporter” tried to get the NFL to ban the kid for black face (because he only used a photo showing the black side of the kid’s face – despite there being plenty of front on photos) and for cultural appropriation.

It turns out that the kid’s Grand Father is an elder in the local tribe.

What is going on with these grown adults feeling the need to destroy kids to prove their superiority?

Watching the news last night and hadn’t even realised convicted rapist and murderer David Wayne Tamihere had appealed his conviction after being found guilty of the murder of Swedish tourists Urban Hoglin and Heidi Paakkonen.
Seeing those photos of Heidi sent a chill down my spine.
Young, beautiful, petite, long legs, blonde. There but for the grace of God.

TBH, my partner remembers the case better than me.
Reckons it’s going to be an interesting one to follow. He thort Tamihere’s appeal may have had a better chance of success had Labor won the election and been in coalition with Te Party Maori.
But who knows.

Based on new evidence and some that the police were not interested in at the time, it appears Police got so much wrong in the circumstantial case that while Tamahere was most likely involved, he might get to appeal.

    Tamihere stole the car by unlocking with wire and using the spare key in the glove box. He drove with backpackers for 2 days exchanging tour guide for board.
    One thing about bros John and David, they have respectable high iq, the family was good.
    He told police he broke in, they took him there in cuffs to demonstrate, and he did it in a matter of seconds, so 100% plausible. On the police theory he had no need to break into the car, and was driving around with a reasonable expectation to be pulled over for driving the missing persons’ car.
    The facts are simple, and the killer is known, confessed on his death bed.
    David Tamihere is a terrible human being but innocent of the rap. There is an 800 page hand written tome he wrote waiting to be transcribed.

I was afraid they would introduce some half way house where they only exempted the tax for utes owned “for legitimate purposes” as Jacinda famously worded things.

  Anyone who buys the ‘clean car’ malarkey needs to be shown pics of
  – the diesel powered charging stations in the US
  – the car freighter ships burning and billowing more smoke than Eyjafjallajökull
  – the environmental pollution (and human misery) caused by mining various rare earths.
  
  Ideology blinds them to the truth, I suspect.

From the “Where are they now?” files:
1. Bevan Cheung ( Len Brown’s girlfriend ). Still in Auckland ?
2. Ramraiders. These seem to have disappeared about the same time as the General Election was held. Very strange.
3. The Queenstown polluted water problem. This quietly ( and quickly ) faded from public view, suggesting it was not what it was portrayed.
5. Trevor Mallard: has anyone heard anything at all about him? What has he been doing in Ireland to promote NZ ( in a positive way ) ?

I had to laugh at Chris Hipkins talking about Chris Luxon’s “inability to answer questions”.
I thin he was getting confused with “inability to answer questions by dodging, diverting, lying, and simply ignoring the originals question”, which seemed to be Liebour’s usual style.

  I think the mods should have to include their KB IDs so they can be made to own their moderation. As KK has said, he doesn’t believe he was brining politician’s children into the comments, but we have no way of knowing the truth either way. I tend to side with KK given what I’ve seen of his posts, but we’ll never know because the Mods are effectively a law unto themselves.
  Isn’t there a way to raise unreasonable moderation with the editor?
