There are two interesting articles on Spiked which confirm that there are major policies harming people which were dismissed as “far right” conspiracy theories but now are getting confirmed. The hidden agendas are becoming evident and it isn’t
Matt Ridley writes how the British Royal Commission refuses to discuss how the Wuflu came from a lab leak while they were doing research funded by the US government. Now they want the coverup.

Then there is the elites’ war on cars, as part of the general strategy to impoverish the plebs. The reduction in speed limits, turning roads into cycle paths, and 15 minute cities are all part of this. Suppressing evidence of costs and benefits which contradicted their assertations was actively pursued.

That is the world-wide policies that drove the Greens/ Labour agenda even down to councils like Wellington and Christchurch. For all of these, the media running a gaslighting campaign was a critical part. We need to see if it continues as part of the current government’s.

  These conspiracies theories have a grain of truth, that is because some people use it to further their agenda.
  The 15 minute cities concept is really against zoning laws where shopping, residential, doctors etc are separated-forcing people to take their cars everywhere. It’s about more freedom to build what you want.
  
  Speed limits are different. I prefer more graduated speed zones, 110 km/hr on dual carriage motorways, 70-80 km on main arterial roads, 60 km/hr on wider roads, and 30-40 km where there is expected to be pedestrian/bicycle traffic (most residential areas). Unfortunately, some climate change zealots are aggravating people un-necessarily- mixing safety issues with climate change.
  
  I am all for cycle lanes, why should cars force others off the road.
  
  The lableak theory- please explain why it is in the US governments’ interests for a cover up. I heard from the foreign investigators directly, there was no evidence of a lableak. What gives this theory legs, is that you cannot prove a negative. And what difference does a lab leak theory make to people’s lives?- NADA, ZIP.

    The US government has a real interest in the coverup because they funded it. There are plenty of documents showing the funding, procedure and methods. All of which match. No gaps.

        @ CJames. Correct me if I am if I misunderstood. The thesis is that the US government engineered this virus. The epicentre was in China and not the USA. The US government is covering up because it makes the US look bad, instead of using it to bash China. Where is the motivation to have the epidemic start in China, spreading through the world and then to the US?
        
        When you pull the threads of the conspiracy theory, it unravels pretty quickly.

        No David, nothing like that which seems like an anti- conspiracy theory by you.
        The facts are the US funded research in Wuhan to work on gain of function using genetic engineering on Bat viruses. It was done there because the ethics didn’t allow it to be done is US labs. This was despite them knowing the lab had a low level of biosecurity. To that the fact the outbreak of the virus happened in Wuhan after the lab staff had come down with very early, if not patient zero, infections from the very viral type they were supposed to be working on.
        All that is known from public domain documents. The lab leak was initially seen as the source by the very people who funded it. That is from their emails. Then a number of people who realised the trail, like Fauci, would implicate them. So they suppressed the evidence and started claiming it was a conspiracy to think otherwise.
        No deus ex machina or leaps of faith are needed to see what Matt wrote is the Occam’s razor explanation. It is only the anti-lab leak ones who need far right conspiracy. Do still believe in pangolins and the wet market were the cause of it all?

        David – The research started in North Carolina at Chapel Hill university and Rocky Mountain labs in Hamilton, Montana where Ralph Baric was doing research on the alteration of covid viruses to make them more infective to humans until it was stopped by Obama. It then moved off shore to Eco-Health Alliance and Peter Dasack. Both Fauci and Baric were involved with the CIA and US Defence in weaponising biological agents.
        
        This information is all publicly available (not on Google or in the MSM) for those who have followed what has happened. Poor trolling, mate!

      Cyclists pay when the property is developed when the road is built. Little road maintenance is required thereafter. The rates cover that.
      
      Potholes are not caused by bicycles- if that is a newsflash.
      
      Streets were present before the motorcar, people forget that.

        Personally, I don’t mind cyclists sharing the road with other vehicles. That’s the road for everyone, paid for by everyone.

        Both, Great King Street and Cumberland Rd in Dunedin are part of SH1. Both had one lane removed to create cycle lane. A cycle lane which hardly anyone uses. The last I checked, SH1 is not maintained by the local council. It is maintained by Transit NZ. This is just one example…

        @Burtland. Perhaps you should give context to the cost of building cycleways. The cost of building the east west road link in Auckland is 327 million per km. 100 times the cost per metre of a cycleway.
        
        In reality, the best way to develop cycleways is with each update/resealing of roads. The marginal cost will be much lower.

        David – you don’t know much at all about the actual facts do you. Look up how much Petone to Korokoro or Dunedin to Port Chalmers cost. They were dedicated cycleways, paid for by road user charges.
        And the east west link has all manner of other things added which aren’t road which inflate the cost. Just like the new ferries where only a quarter of the cost was the boats.

        @CJames. Cycleways vary in cost. It can be as little was some paint and posts.
        Some gold plated examples that you give are exorbitant by anyone standards. Using the the gold plated examples is like some saying the new Auckland Harbour Bridge costing 50 billions dollars is an argument against all bridges.
        
        Sensible cities would first change the guidelines, state all new roads or updates conform to standards that include cycleways where it is feasible.

    Which investigators? The Peter Daszak led investigation?
    
    What makes a lab leak the most likely source is very simple: IF it was zoonotic then the intermediate animal to get the virus from bat to human would have been found a long time ago. And not just one animal but a large number of them, with those animals having a large time window of close interaction with humans in China
    
    The CCP have had every incentive to find and produce said intermediate transmission animal/animal population.
    
    They haven’t, because they cant.
    
    It was a virus that was being worked on in a lab, it infected one or more lab techs due to poor procedures and they transmitted the virus into the general populace
    
    We will never know for certain, but lab leak is by far the most likely, given the normal evidence chain of zoonotic transmission is completely missing after 4 years of COVID 19 being widespred.
    
    And before you start – SARS 1 had a transmission chain showing the zoonotic origin within months. Why is such a chain not available for SARS COVID 2
    
    As for what we gain from lab leak as an accepted source:
    
    1 – We gain a wide spread understanding of how gung-effin-ho our scientific community are when working with dangerous virus and bacterial materials. We need the work more heavily regulated and more safety conscious
    
    2 – We gain a widespread understanding of how much people in power think of us plebs as insignificant and undeserving of the truth. And how willing they are to lie and misdirect with willingly help from their media puppets
    
    3 – We understand that certain people like Fauci and Daszak are very, very slippery around the truth and looking after their own careers and wealth generating opportunities
    
    4 – We also know that another escape like this is very likely and that governments should be stressing the need for their populations to get far healthy to be able to cope with another COVID like lab escape virus…

      American regulators ruled that virus research in US labs was too dangerous so banned it. A delegation inspected Wuhan and ruled that it too was too lax for US research.
      Ignoring that, Fauci funnelled funds through sub-contractors to Wuhan. His signature is literally on the approval form.
      Imagine his happy surprise when he was put in charge of
      “determining the source of the outbreak”.
      Everybody involved was aligned starting with his mates in the Wuhan facility to the US media. Remember President Trump said it had originated in China so he had to be “proven” wrong.

  This is pretty much over. The lefts stupidity is being rapidly rolled back, hence all the screaming and yelling here as the coalition roll back the Ardern disaster, we start speaking English again, road speed limits are restored, idiotic spending cancelled, kids will get taught properly, students and teachers assessed, gender stupidity banned, trannies no longer in women’s sport, subsidies on crappy cars (EVs) removed, co-governance gone etc. I have already noticed the media is not being fed loads of money to advertise to us (in Māori) that we should be getting flu jabs and god knows what else. The advertising has just stopped, period. No wonder they are not happy. In Australia the left is rejected, the voice was a massive failure. That event alone is going go bring down their government (at the next election). Next year Trump looks like he will be back if he doesn’t end up in jail, and if that happens the wokeness will be rolled back faster than here. I have also noticed people that would not joke about how useless Ardern was, or how ridiculous it was to try get people to speak Māori, or about men competing in woman’s sports are not openly joking about it. It’s becoming normal to joke about idiotic thoughts. People generally are freely expressing their thoughts again when previously they were too afraid to speak openly for fear of getting shouted down by some freak show (The Greens and TPM being prime examples of said freak show type people). This is happening all over the world as the left are pushed out and right wing governments are being elected to fix the mess. It’s happening here, South Americ, Europe and next year in the United States and Canada….

All I Want for Christmas is a Rise in Birth Rates

Though Christmas can endure even among those who don’t believe in God, it cannot survive if humanity stops believing in itself.

For evidence of this apostasy, one need look no further than this year’s birth rate statistics: the bad news is that the downward trend continues across the developed world and can no longer be blamed on the effects of Covid and lockdown. The fact is that modernity leaves ever less room for children.

The worse news is that no one seems to care. That’s weird, because we know what will happen if we don’t boost the birth rate. One can read the detail in official Government reports, but the gist is this: if the baby drought continues, then in the decades ahead welfare states will go bankrupt.

A century of base-load Malthusianism, overlayed with the loathing of humanity by eco death cultists has led us here. It is way past time we returned to promoting biologically optimal family structures and celebrated more children being born into them.

    Disagree NMTB. It is incredibly hard and expensive to raise children today. I put it down to two things: lack of affordable child care and housing.
    
    Two generations ago a family could live decently in a home of their own with only one parent working on a reasonable income: Try doing that now. Both parents need to work to afford a house. Family sized houses to buy are out of reach for many until later in life. Who wants to raise a bigger family in a small townhouse? Or the uncertainty of raising a family in a rental which could come to an end.
    
    Child care is expensive as the minimum wage has gone up and immigration fell away. Grandparents? They are typically working later into life to ensure retirement in dignity or style. The gap between the end of parental leave and free child care is huge.
    
    The combination of these factors means prospective parents are facing an impossible and stressful squeeze between working, housing child care and food costs. Only fools or a rich family would have multiple kids.
    
    Unless the trends change, watch the birth rate drop.

      I grew up in a very large family with a mother who didn’t work. We had one very small bathroom in our house and we managed perfectly well. The trouble today is expectations have just risen and risen so that young couples want what we ended up with after a life times work right at the beginning of theirs. When I see cafes and bars bursting every weekend with young people I just think back to my early married life when we NEVER went out, couldn’t afford to because we had a mortgage to pay. But it was worth it. I have no time for young people bleating that they can’t afford a house, they just need to get their priorities right. BTW my sons saved hard and have very nice family homes and children of their own. It can be done.

        Yep, it can be done. Work 2 jobs for a start.
        You don’t need that 63 inch TV, video games, $1400 cellphone, late model car, double door fridge. Get off the piss and drugs.
        Just harden up for a while. I had 3 jobs at one stage. A young guy can survive on 5 hours sleep.

        I’m not saying it can’t be done it’s just that people don’t want to slog to survive with multiple kids. Lots of people are reasonably deciding it’s too tough. What I am saying is that making it a bit easier might lift the birth rate.

      We’ve had two things that have worked against the post-baby boom generations. One is restrictive policies reducing the supply of housing. This happened at the same time as demand increased, as factors like divorce (two houses now required for one family) and immigration overwhelmed declining birth rates. Demand growing faster than supply raises prices.
      
      The other is increased labour supply. Anti-discrimination measures in the West, free trade agreements and improved education everywhere meant many more people available in the labour market. And when supply goes up, price goes down.
      
      The result is higher house prices (a local cost) but lower wages (an increasingly global cost).

  The agenda is for the plebs in the developed world to:
  1. Be under educated and informed;
  2. Not to be aware of certain policy trends funded by the elites of Europe and the US;
  3. Be exercised and believe in all crises and agendas as reported to the pleasure by the governments, authorities and media of the US and European countries;
  4. Not to worry, but falling birth rates in developed countries, because there is still growing populations in the under developed world. These populations will continue to provide numbers to plug the skills shortages in the developed world, not! Sarc////

    The whites are definitely in the minority now in the Sydney cbd. In a suburb like Chatswood the Asian population is 47%.
    
    Not sure if this is a good thing or not, the Australian government are clearly winding things back. Foreigners have to pay another 7% stamp duty and if you are non resident but own an apartment you can’t just park your student kids there. There is now a foreigners residency tax payable every year. If anyone had any doubt at all previously, his rant it makes it clear that he is to the Left of Karl Marx. He also makes it clear that his motivation for sticking around and producing more of his execrable cartoons is not to hold politicians of all stripes to account; rather, it is to annoy and antagonise customers, subscribers, and potential subscribers. You can easily ascribe the same attitude to the people running the Herald. It’s certainly an interesting business model.

  And this morning, just after 8am on Newstalk ZB, David Seymour was interviewed by Tim something. What an excreble interview. Host didn’t know the actual name of Seymour’s Ministry, then came up with a list of quotes that Seymour had made about Peters. Seymour, to his credit, didn’t bother interrupting but made a really clear summation of what the Coalition Government is going to achieve. A great shame that ZB can’t find someone even closely coming to the standards of Hosking to stand in.
  
  But Seymour did seem to sum up the opposition well – it consists of the media, Labour, Greens and the maori lot.

        Its circulation area was defined by delivery logistics. Various buses would load up with Heralds and passengers at about 1am outside the Wyndham Street Herald printery and take off in various directions. I rode the Northland one one night to visit my aunt. Driver would stop at Herald shops in Warkworth, Wellsford etc, unlock the door and drop the Heralds inside. North of Whangarei the driver would chuck individual copies out for individual farms etc. Kaitaia would get its Heralds early afternoon.

        This is very technical but there are varying opinions as the whether volcanic activity could cause sudden sea level rise. I do not have the expertise to judge but am suspicious that NASA discounts the possibility.

        [1] The volcanoes will need to heat the base and overcome the thermal mass of ice above which will try and refreeze it.
        
        …and the glacier slides into the ocean.
        
        [2] Traveling up hill and down dale, overcoming probably octillions of tons of gravity and sideways friction, as well as thermal mass and conductivity from all over the continent creating friction by refreezing.
        
        [3] Even if the Antarctic rockbed was instead highly polished 100m thick stainless steel you would still have to heat the entire continent raising the coldest part from -80°C. But even then, it would work because the 100m thick stainless steel would be concave with the sheet weight of the ice in the centre. At even a 1000m thick you get buckling.
        
        There are tremendous forces at work in the Antarctic, as with all land mass, pressure, gravity, highly compressed ice, highly compressed water tables below the earth’s crust.
        
        I’m sorry Chuck, but suggest you take up night classes in physics, and take a course in 3D mind visualisation.
        
        If you could succeed in fully melting the bottom layer of the entire content and have it slide sideways, I’d be more concerned about the energy source that was capable of doing that. Think Death Star/Aliens/Singularity/Collision with mercury.

  Don’t hear much in the NZ media about the wide impacts of volcanic eruptions, unless airlines are affected.// Outcomes not always able to be proved I guess, but those effects can be massive of course.
  
  The Tonga volcano eruption early last year was thought to be a serious contributor to very unusual floods in Australia. In NZ nothing much said so maybe narrative not fitted.

    There was an Australian meteorologist who penned a very good article after the Tongan volcanic eruption explaining how much water was put into the atmosphere. They went on to explain that due to higher atmospheric winds circulating over eastern Australia and northern NZ, both areas will be subject to very heavy rainfall, which is what happened causing the Auckland Floods and issues on the east coast.
    Listening to our MSM, those events were all because of climate change.

  Aah, this is where ‘tipping points’ come in. These will be used to explain away sudden changes. Remember that there is nothing that (human-caused) CO2 emissions cannot do. /s.
  As for the IPCC, according to them, their role is
  “to assess on a comprehensive, objective, open and transparent basis the scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant to understanding the scientific basis of risk of human-induced climate change…”
  It’s human-induced climate change they’re interested in, not that natural stuff that is (apparently) just background noise. Volcanoes potentially melting glaciers isn’t what they’re there to tell us about.

  Chuck, the reports you write about are not news. In April this year, I posted a link to an essay/report written by Ian Wishart about the active volcanoes of Antarctica melting the ice cap. In his essay, Wishart highlighted studies/research undertaken by Victoria University scientists that has been suppressed because it is contrary to the programme that supports the Climate Change scam.
  
  I would further recommend to you Wishart’s book “Air Con”.
  
  The problem is factual realities like the impact of volcanoes and eruptions are inconvenient when the chosen “environmental scientists” beat the drum of climate change. For example look at the impact of the Tongan volcanic eruption last year. It has been/was widely reported that eruption increased atmospheric water content in the region by 15%. Surprise, surprise, that water came from somewhere, and by the laws of physics (what goes up, must come down when gravity is applied) had to come back down to earth. Helping to explain why rainfall in northern NZ has been between 100% & 200% of normal averages.
  
  Another note from the volume of rain in the North, it has had had a significant impact on a reduction in sunshine hours, that this year didn’t turn out to be “yet again the hottest year on record”, and not helpful if you are looking for investors & justification for solar farms in the North.

Where can we see the figures for the Birth Rates both in New Zealand. and in UK. by ethnicity.
It is a well known factor in France for example that the Muslim birth rates grossly exceed the non Muslim ones.
Ghedaffi made it quite clear that he would conquer Europe alone by Birth rate alone.
I believe that the same in the UK too to a serious mental medical problem arising from the Muslim Birth rate alone.

The country’s oldest war memorial will be removed from a historic Whanganui reserve following objections to an inscription condemning upriver Māori for “fanaticism and barbarism”.

The monument was erected in 1865 on the banks of the Whanganui River at Pākaitore, a historic trading site, seasonal village and gathering place for Māori.

  Battle was in 1863. The Maori named on the statue were killed while helping to protect the Europeans living in Whanganui (established 1840).
  The European was a Lay Brother (so Catholic) who was killed either in cross-fire or while trying to make peace.
  The statue is on land previously known as Moutoa Gardens (Land protests 1995). Another statue on the same section is dedicated to Major Kemp and includes several stories on his battles and the story of a female Maori chief who assisted him.

He would say to the gunman…. nothing the gunman wouldn’t laugh at.   A lot of EVs are being reported with incredible repair bills for what would have historically been considered minor body damage. Another recent example was Hyundai Ioniq owners being charged $60k for battery replacement due to minor under-side damage (running over some debris on the road).
  
  In some ways this is not dissimilar to the super high pressure common-rail diesel TDi engine issues that would see $10-20k repair bills when a single injection component like a pump failed in 5-15 year old turbodiesels (which is why you shouldn’t buy older TDi vehicles) – so bad that there is now a premium on lower pressure diesel engined vehicles produced before TDi became ubiquitous.

  I see they misrepresented or failed to even mention some of the major, most vital, arguments against The Voice and instead chose to spend much time with character as assassinations of some of the leaders of the ‘No’ campaign while presenting the ‘Yes’ campaigners as virtuous and wounded warriors.
  
  A very poor show from our state broadcaster but I would expect nothing less. For years they’ve been happy to use their position and taxpayer cash to push their political viewpoints and to silence other voices.

The Woke have opened another front: “data sovereignty” for indigenous people such as Maori.

It’s beyond the push for indigenous knowledge to be regarded as science or the equivalent of science. It potentially affects copyright, and access to information.

Fornander, Smith and others used the method to reconstruct the migrations of the Polynesians and traced them back to a supposed ancient homeland in India.
    
    Smith used the Fornander method and combined disparate traditions from various parts of New Zealand and other parts of Polynesia, to derive the “Great Fleet” hypothesis. Through an examination of the genealogies of various tribes, he came up with a set of precise dates for the Great Fleet and the explorers that he and others posited as having paved the way for the fleet’.

      Hawaii and Hawaiiki are not the same place. Maori say they came from Hawaiiki. But can’t say where that was. It’s the south Pacific version of Atlantis.
      
      Also, to navigate in an east or west direction you need timekeeping, a sextant, and record keeping. Maori had none of those.
      
      Note, to navigate is to know where you are. You could travel in an easterly direction but you’d have no idea where you are, and couldn’t replicate the journey. In other words there’s a reasonable chance Maori arrived here with blind luck.
      
      I’m also very curious about why the oral history stops with the arrival of the waka. Why is there no history about the journey, the reasons for leaving a warm, tropical paradise?

Article in the Herald about a man who fell out of his kayak in the middle of Wellington harbour and was at risk of drowning. The article concludes:

“Casey knows he’s lucky. Aged 53 in May 2021, he was just outside the 55+ age cohort of Kiwi males who drowned in record numbers that year.”

It’s written as if the reporter believes that the man would have died had he been two years older and in the same situation.

The corporate media in NZ constantly uses this flawed angle when reporting. They generally do it because it is a necessary part of the “logic” of critical race theory. It reminds me of the articles about Kiri Allan’s cancer – they reported the statistics on Māori women’s’ mortality rates after a diagnosis and deduced that it was highly unlikely she would survive, ignoring the factors like her wealth, physical condition, education and timing of diagnosis that actually have a bearing on mortality risk.

The media is so trapped in this way of thinking now that the flawed logic is making its way into the reporting on events with no critical theory angle.

    Says he was wearing a life jacket but it was an inflatable one that failed to inflate when he pulled the cord. I thought they generally had a manual way to blow them up but his either didn’t or he didn’t know how to use it.
    
    He had a phone not tethered that sunk and a VHF radio he hadn’t learned to use.
    
    Was also in a brand new kayak that he didn’t really know how to use, and had had no lessons in kayaking, before going out in the harbour kilometres from shore.
    
    And, the kicker is, he works for water safety New Zealand FFS. No wonder the drowning stats are so bad.
    
    To his credit he was making what happened to him public so others wouldn’t be such a muppet.

One of the inmates here was given as a gift an illustrated book about the many small towns, past and present, in NZ.
Title: “High Hopes and Big Dreams – 165 small towns in their twilight.” By Peter Jannsen and Elizabeth Anderson.
One photo caption dated 27 August 1904 informs the reader that:
“A match was played in the Sheffield Domain (Canterbury) between teams representing the newly formed Malvern Ladies’ Hockey Club and a team of men in skirts.”
“The match which created considerable local interest, was won by the men, after a spirited struggle, by two goals”.
All the players wore ankle length skirts.
Some are pictured with moustaches.

Two members of the public were rescued yesterday at one of Auckland’s most dangerous beaches after ignoring a Surf Life Saving guard’s advice about swimming in a safe area….
I’m probably being the Christmas Grinch but my view: if you ignore lifeguard’s advice (or advice from any professional) and get in trouble do not expect them to come and rescue your sorry, ignorant, arrogant arse.

  So your answer is to let someone die. The life guards having to then recover a dead body. The police then having to go and inform the families of the death. Thankfully surf life saving pride themselves in their work. As do the emergency services when someone speeds and crashes, someone drinks and drives and crashes, or even someone doing something stupid at home and having an accident.

    If lifeguards patrolling flagged areas get stretched thin rescuing people who ignore the signs and get into trouble, then people following the signs may die! Remember surf lifesavers are volunteers (correct me if I’m wrong) so additional numbers can’t be rustled up easily.

        Swim between the flags.
        That is why the flags are there. The life guards can not patrol all of 90 mile beach (60 miles.)

        Dealing with emergencies you have to prioritise. You don’t put those disobeying the rules above those who do. If there is resource to rescue those breaking the rules then you rescue them. If you have a ton of newbies between the flags in iffy conditions, then you just do what you can with those going beyond the perimeter (perhaps call in extra resource like police or army helicopters or whatever).

What were 303 Indian-origin people doing in a Nicaragua-bound plane? Did they embark on the journey of their free will or were they forced to board the plane? What were over 10 unaccompanied minors doing on the plane?
