Remember when talking about The Deep State got you branded as a conspiracy theorist, a scaremongering intellectual pygmy deserving of mockery and deplatforming?

Yes, I do too.

But now the New York Times proclaims “It Turns Out the ‘Deep State’ Is Actually Kind of Awesome”. Friend-of-the-bog Igor Chudov notes:-

Be assured that the New York Times still thinks that the “conspiracy theorists” alleging the existence of the “deep state” are still bad for us, despite the deep state existing just as they were alleging.

As I’ve said before, the difference between a conspiracy theory and truth is about 6 months.

The point is GAE keeps its ally’s weak militarily is a deliberate strategy. In the Pacific that is Taiwan, Japan, S Korea, Aust & NZ. It benefits GAE for the US military to control things otherwise other countries start to think for themselves.

Run down NZ military is what GAE wants and certainly Labo was very faithful too. Nat not far behind.

Does anyone here believe the state propaganda that without mass immigration NZ’s economy would suffer. That is without mass immigration NZ would be in a constant recession.

Shitty foreign & local corporations, the banks benefit from mass immigration along with the state. But no one else would miss immigration cut back to 10%.

  You’ll probably get some downticks from real estate agents and property spruikers who rely on mass immigration to keep property prices at ridiculous levels and the housing crisis humming. Also corporate employers who rely on cheap foreign labour to keep wage and salary growth suppressed. The rest of us should consider that importing people en masse into a country where the existing infrastructure already can’t cope is madness. We need new schools, hospitals, roads, water infrastructure, and are importing people to put pressure on the inadequate utilities we already have it place. We are approx 8,000 healthcare professionals short for the people we have as it is. Our GDP growth per capita is falling. We are well past the point where mass immigration made any sense. The Left love mass immigration because ‘diversity’, and we on the Right are playing into their hands for the wrong reasons.

A strange rant from Ayesha Verrall about cost savings at Ministry of Health. She said yesterday (RNZ) –

“Ministry of Health staff led the response to the pandemic. In addition they make sure that we have safely regulated medicines. They make sure that our health regulations of all sorts – including fluoridation – are functional. And they do things like taking steps to improve cancer care in New Zealand by working across our system.”

Although MOH management were appointed and / or served under her government’s watch, she obviously does not believe those same managers have any clue about the impact of the roles actually going, or that there once was a pandemic and now is not.

Prime Minister Luxon referred to chopping ‘dumb stuff’ but sadly Ms Verrall does not seem to be aware of any in MOH.

  Was the MoH response to the pandemic good? I thought fluoridation was now under 3 Waters. Does the cancer care have to be improved because it collapsed under Ms Verrall’s administration. And why would keeping the officials that were there during the collapse be able to fix it? Or were they totally restricted in what they could do by the Labour Government’s actions and now they are free, they can succeed? Whatever way it is looked at her statement seems to be accepting incompetence.

        This is why you need health insurance even though it costs. In the case of She Who Must be Obeyed and myself for surgical hospital $5K a year. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2022. Had an appointment with an urologist within 2 weeks. He said needed the chop but not urgent so scheduled around my work for November. In and out in 3 days. He did a great job. Didnt need mens nappies. PSA test zero. Public health system stuffed.

      The number of people being treated for cancer in the early stages has plummeted. Very hard to get through the system: GP then a number of specialist referrals and tests, even surgery. Many now don’t get treatment until S3 or S4. Talk to a GP or an oncologist.

        I had a similar experience with my DLBCL – investigated Dec, finished chemo in June. Though I had a relapse after 5 months. That was back to heavier chemo and a stem cell transplant – all over lockdown. Now I seem to be clear. However, one can’t be too optimistic.
        Like Cassanda, I know several on the prostate delay. As it mainly affects older white males, no apparent concern.

        Sounds like a difference between cancers treated with chemo and those that require more intervention.
        
        Btw MCos, you are aware that lymphoma doesn’t disappear aren’t you? My experience is that they seek a long remission but it’s expected to return in 10 or 15 years. It’s not gone.

      The time between detection and treatment with Cancer is a critical factor in the success of the treatment. Under Labour the health system started failing to meet the maximum acceptable time between detection and treatment.
      
      My now deceased father had skin cancer and waited 8ths to be seen for treatment. By the time they got around to cutting it out it had spread through his body to his throat and lungs. At that point, untreatable. That MAY have not been the case if he had been seen in weeks rather then months.

      Cancer care overwhelmed due to vaxx injuries. Its been widely reported – well the overwhelmed bit – to the point where break down occurred across NZ. People died as a result. This didnt happen only a few years ago. pre-labo.

      The active surveillance program at North Shore Hospital has been working fine for my prostate cancer.
      It was MRI once a year and Biopsy once a year in between the MRIs. This has now been reduced to two yearly, but still PSA blood test every three months. The monitoring shows the cancer is not spreading even though malignant. Last think I want is the cancer to move to the spine or hips.
      I am one of the lucky I guess, but there are many dying from other cancers because it is found too late. Lack of specialists and surgeons is not helping. Thanks Labour.

        But again – krazy take note. This govt has repealed so much of the labour agenda in just 100 days. Every day something good. For example Kainga Ora bad tenants will be evicted. Yesterday blanket speed restrictions gone. Road to zero gone. Hate speech laws gone.

    I have party voted ACT since 1996, except for 2014 when National got that vote, and given National my electorate vote. Again one exception when I made the mistake of thinking Rick Barker would be a good electorate MP – how wrong I was – never again.
    
    So far I like what I see of our electorate MP Catherine Wedd. She seems hard working with the best interests at Tukituki at heart and she also knows what she is talking about. I thought her speech in the General Debate on Wednesday was very good with focus on her electorate and Hawkes Bay in general.

    So the earlier judge erred “by finding that the consequences to Green were the ordinary consequences of a conviction. ”

Today we can give thanks we have a new government in charge.
I note the excellent Simeon Brown has announced the end of blanket speed restrictions. This is great news.

Here in the Wairarapa we have a blanket speed restriction south of Masterton of 80km. This includes the perfectly straight road to Featherston which we could previously drive, before the soul destroying Labour government, at 100km in perfect safety and with joy in our heart.

Those of us that are older remember the blanket speed restrictions from 1973 – 1986 due to the fuel crisis where everyone complained about the lower speed limits of 50mph, “too slow for a modern car”, everyone said. It was a bad idea then and it was a bad idea now. Is there something about the Labour Party mentality that wants to suck all the joy out of life?

But today I’m happy. Sometimes you have to celebrate the win! 😎

People are complaining about rises to bus fares in Napier.

“It is very disappointing for us, that we are probably going to look at driving across to [Lindisfarne College in] Hastings as often as possible, because it is probably more affordable for us to do that in a small vehicle than it is for us to take the buses,”

The bus fare is going to $3. Napier to the college is about 16km each way, so 32km to deliver said child and go back to Napier. Fuel in Napier is currently $2.557 per litre according to Gaspy.

That means $3 gets you 1.17 litres. Doing 32km on 1.17 litres means you need to be able to do better than 3.66 l/100km to better the cost of the bus.

Good luck with that. And before you say EV, if they can afford an EV then they’re pretty shallow complaining about a $3 bus fare

    Just over 90K km on the clock at present. Non fuel expenses: rego, insurance, RUC, annual service (at about $340) and WOF and one set of tyres and one battery since new. Everything else is fuel.

    Some of it comes down to the fact that not all coal is the same and it has different uses.
    
    For example, the high quality coal uses in steel making is worth a lot more than lower grade coal. It would be a huge waste to burn steel making coal in Huntly.
    
    As I understand it, the coal being shipped from Lyttleton is mainly steel making coal going to Japan etc.
    
    But NZ has vast reserves of lignite etc. There’s enough in Southland to provide ALL of NZ’s electricity for many hundred years.

What has changed in the last couple of years with Apple? Why is the DOJ charging them now?

The answer of course is NOTHING. Apple is still the same company it was 5 years ago. If anything appless market power is lower now then it was then. So why the DOJ charges?

The answer is an election in November this year and Biden is struggling in the polls. This gives Biden the chance to say he is pushing for the little guy. Meanwhile the DOJ will spend the next 6 mths doing precisely nothing. If Biden wins, the case is dropped. If Trump wins, who knows, this is Trump after all 🙂

Biggest of the spenders was MP Arena Williams, who spent almost $23,000.
This included $8380 on accomodation in Wellington, more than $10,000 on air travel, and about $4400 on surface travel.
And for what in return FFS?

Now what I’d like to know, is how do we get a similar breakdown of expenses for the useless Green…. ‘Member-for-Tijuana’?
What would his/her travel and Wellington accomodation be costing us for goodness sake?

I fully support shrinking the bloated public sector but wtf is wrong with ACT? Their posts showing such glee on the cuts is harsh, these are actual people with families, mortgages etc. It needs to be done but ffs show some empathy. Seems like all sides of the political spectrum have forgotten the ability to show empathy towards people. The left are even worse at this. Politicians should be leading by example, it’s pretty poor behaviour imo. I used to support ACT but this sort of stuff turns me off them.

    Perhaps. But they were. At least some of them accepted their jobs in good faith. At least some of them have done their jobs well. While I have no time for ever expanding “public service” sector or much sympathy for its employees, I don’t see any reason to be happy just because an individual lost his/her job.
    It won’t make much of a difference anyway. What’s needed is the transformation of the public sector similar to that of 1984 Roger Douglas’s reforms. That’s up to the current crop of politicians; are they up to it though?

    So you’re saying it’s their fault they are being sacked because they took a job that was on offer? I wonder how you would feel in their situation. Easy to say ‘toughen up’ when it’s not you losing your job eh? And I have never been through that but I empathise with anyone who does when it is no fault of their own.   I worked for Telecom/Spark…. For a number of years off and on.
  
  I know lots of people made redundant there. We faced restructures constantly from 2004 onwards…. Constant.
  
  People lost jobs and had mortgages and families.
  
  Big deal was my thoughts going through it and i think the sane now.
  
  Govt departments are full of time wasters and do nothings. Labour made it much worse.
  
  Cutting back govt. jobs is a good thing and should be celebrated. It frees resources and allows them to be applied elsewhere. Hell those sacked govt. employees could actually become productive inthe private sector, if they can unlearn govt. style do nothing well or quickly work habits!

This is the message we are giving young women.

The breast reduction story was not behind a paywall and the article was shared globally including on stuff NZ, as a career enhancing choice.

“The result has been transformative. Galligan no longer suffers chronic back and neck aches, while her athletic ability has improved beyond measure.”

I mean I get it but it also has issues for women and for sports.

“What would her advice be to any young girls or women considering a breast reduction? “Do your research,” she says, matter-of-factly. “Get the right people on board and make sure you have support afterwards. It’s definitely a journey but it’s also one of the best things I’ve ever done. It helped me progress in my career and I wouldn’t change it for the world, get into the Red Roses squad, go to a World Cup and win medals.”

This is the message they are giving young women. To win medals cut your boobs off.

But it raises a few questions. I mean we ban chemical body enhancement but are people allowed to surgically modify their bodies to play in sports.

This 2005 Gymnica article talks about how an athlete repaired a ligament and found he was a better baseball pitcher. So other athletes without injury are also getting these ligaments installed. Athletes are fixing their noses to get more oxygen. Lasik surgery to get better than 20/20 vision. And Breasts reduced.

It’s possible we could see “The distance of a golfer’s drive could be bettered through elective ligament elbow surgery. It seems inevitable power lifters who use ergogenic means such as tight fitting suits and wraps will someday have metal knee joints implanted. It is not inconceivable for an athlete to consider elective tendon surgery to become faster”

He discusses the ethics in sports of Body modifications and surgical adaptions including transgenderism he discusses the issues in sport as we move into the era of Transhumanism and transhumanist technology.

But re a woman reducing her boobs to make the team. It’s not just a choice for her. When one athlete modifies their body it puts pressure on others to do the same to compete.

  This sort of thing has been going on forever. Chemical enhancement, such as using asthma medication, is banned unless you really suffer asthma, wink, wink.
  Soon sports people are over represented as asthmatics.
  
  While there is a benefit to be had, people will do these things.
  
  Where do you draw the line?
  
  Some will call it cheating but others would turn that around and ask why they should be disadvantaged by having problems with their body.

  To be fair, the story goes on to say that pre op her measurement was 32 HH, which is a big weight on a small frame. Irrespective of rugby, it’s understandable that she would have back & neck problems.

  Keep Maori Affairs – and that’s where the Maori stuff should be contained. Probably still need Women’s Affairs (sadly) – as long as they do their job properly and ensure biological sex is sacrosanct and the integrity of appropriate single sex spaces is maintained. Disarmament (whatever the hell that is supposed to mean) is disgraceful, embarrassing and should be kicked into touch immediately.

    Ministry for women has been in existence for nearly 40 years. The private sector has done more for women in their own. Replace it and all the other such as PI, geriatric (on my way there btw) et al with a single Ministry for Equality. Danish did this.

      Yep same in Britain also – it’s called “Ministry for Women and Equalities”. I’d be happy with that (still need women specified though, private sector has indeed done a lot but it’s not quite enough to rely on that I feel).

Five months in jail and now home detention after stabbing a man to death in a mistaken-identity confrontation after a road-rage incident.

The Appeal Court in reducing the sentence is reported as saying: “‘The victim, Mr Jopson, was a loving and protective father. His death has had a devastating effect on his family.”

I wonder what the family feels about the Appeal Court and its decision.

I’m just lost for words. I could make some points about the appalling levels of Polynesian violence in NZ today and the fact that I can barely go a single day without reading of it in the press – but that would just make me a racist and, anyway, colonisation is the root cause; there’s no point looking at any other factors.

Just imagine the fear Lionel Peat lived with in his final months let alone his final hours.

But New Zealanders will March in the streets and protest about George Floyd, a person who had never set foot in this country and lived half the world away.

Where is the hikoi for Lionel Peat? Where is the outrage? Where are the speeches in Parliament? Where are the weeks of stories in the media?

There are none, because there’s no political capital in it for the Left.

  It is never the adults fault.
  It is always the naughty crying and whining kids and babies to blame for making the big grown-up give them the bash.
  Them and the missus not doing what she’s told. Somehow that is also the kids’ fault and they must pay for disturbing and annoying the “adult”,
  Time to start admitting the huge feral problem we have and stop making excuses for it.
  Many of these criminals blame and justify their adult behaviour on their own upbringing.
  Let’s hear from their parents then, if they know who they are. Get them into court and show them the problem they have allegedly created and ask them what they are going to do about it.

    You can just see the contents of their ‘Cultural Reports’ now when they also end up before some woke lefty dudge in the next 10 or 15 yeras.

Apparently, Hollywood airhead Alyssa Milano was once a huge fan of Elon Musk due to the green (it’s not) Tesla car and she owned one because of Musk’s company.

When Musk bought Twitter and exposed the company for what it was – a leftist haven of corrupt staff that were anti conservatism, she suddenly believed that Musk was a fascist and sold her Tesla.

She bought a Volkswagen instead.

You can’t make this stuff up.
