Shock horror: Ratepayers’ Alliance lobbies for lower rates

A hilarious story at The Spinoff where they are amazed to find that the Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance lobbied Councillors to try and get a lower rates increase for Auckland.

What the hell do they think a lobby group does? Of course you don’t just send out media releases. You meet with Councillors. You try and persuade them. You give them documents that may help those who agree with you etc.

It never fails to amaze me how media can portray what is 100% normal politics as somehow sinister.
