Saddam to be hanged by 25 January

December 27th, 2006 at 10:54 am by David Farrar

The Iraqi appeals court has confirmed Saddam’s sentence and ordered the sentence (death by hanging) to be carried out within 30 days.

At least he’ll be reunited with his sons soon.

If it wasn’t a Jewish holiday already it would have to become one.

Wait for his supporters to weep – those who don’t give a rats backside about genocide and Saddams other crimes – Jane Kelsey (Auckland uni), John Minto (school teacher, Keith Locke (professional idiot) etc

seems all a bit pathetic really. Another death with not much point. If his death could bring about some sort of national reconciliation then there might be justification, but that’s unlikely. Saddam’s foulest legacy – ethnic violence – looks set to out last him.

It makes you wonder Saddam appealing the original sentence when he has got 77 virgins waiting for him!

I’m glad that the court has ruled so quickly on his appeal.

If they had done otherwise and dragged the process out, the suspense might have killed him.

The Americans should have simply shot him for trying to escape when they found him in his fox hole.
