Big swing in Roy Morgan poll

The latest Roy Morgan picks up a big dip for Labour in late February, and a corresponding rise for National.
I’m starting to worry I may lose money on the Goff stock – I’ve invested on the basis he will last until 2010, and will lose money if he goes earlier. On the plus side, there is no obvious successor.
I’ve updated curiablog with all the latest polls, and will soon start up again the sidebar graphic.

This poll is all about John Key and his style of Government. I think John has tapped something deeply New Zealand in his style of Government, a bit quirky, not aggressive, clever, humble. And his Ministers are getting the message.

I think you’re being unfair tvb, some of the credit here certainly belings to Phil In.
March 7th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Nah Phil Goff is ok really. But the general attitude of the Labour Party is the election was a big mistake, the people will come to their senses soon and come back to mamma.
March 7th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
I rather suspect not.

Trevor Mallard’s foray into Blue Blog sites cruising for a bruising?
Tax cut hysteria from the Left?
Annette Kings new wardrobe, and hairdo?

No wonder the leftards – especially those the the Standard are so foul. But the big question is “Can Phil-in go lower than English?”
Labour have no successor but say for instance there is a BBQ at Cunners Place, would Phil-in stay around or would he phil-k-off?
Tizard and the other deadbeats on the list can stop applying (hopelessly) for jobs as a continuation of their parliamentary career beckons (and how nice would it be to see that useless Tazard back holding up Labour’s revival even more????
March 7th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
Quite the opposite actually. He’s always been a total prick. He’s got as much chance of becoming PM as Blanket Man.
March 7th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
Well. The graph affirms a continuation of the long term established trends for both National & Labour. Labour should count their blessings that the election wasn’t held in 2009.
March 7th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
Please make Cunners the Leader please. His supreme arrogance, that nasty curled lip, the cold personality, bring it on.
March 7th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Blanket man for PM? Hmmm…..
March 7th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
Interesting – Greens have only picked up 1.78 of the 8 points labour have dropped.
and that was with the ‘trusted auntie’!! I cant wait until Jeannette goes

Goff’s highest poll ratings have been significantly lower than George Bush’s lowest poll ratings. And yet Bush is the one who was a “dismal failure”?
March 7th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
Bushs approval rating was also higher than CNN’s at last count david.
March 7th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
I notice the regressive party has dropped below the margin of error – we will need to find Anderton a job with Cullen at this rate
March 7th, 2009 at 4:43 pm
“Bushs approval rating was also higher than CNN’s at last count david.”
I was unaware people gathered approval ratings on tv channels.
Back to the point, if John Key can weather this economic crisis well, Labour could become irrelevant for the next ten to fifteen years.

“Back to the point, if John Key can weather this economic crisis well, Labour could become irrelevant for the next ten to fifteen years.”
even better, i think we will see the end of the labour party very soon. the next leadership battle will be titanic, between whoever, and will probably lead to a split in the ranks, a la alliance. but with poll ratings this low, it will probably spell the end of whatever does emerge from the aftermath.
March 7th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
which left?
The chardonnay pinko left of which trotter is a member.
The not so very different from national but we say we are left which is pretty much the current labour party mp’s., EMPU.
Or, the grass roots destroy the left and build a new represented with socialist aoteroa and SFWU.
The first is a museum piece, the second was voted out and on current polling quickly becoming a footnote on the pages of history.
Its only from the third grouping will new left rebuild.
Its going to be very bloody

If you try to comment on the Standard there is a manual version of the “Great China Firewall” run manually by Ipent. It is a wonder to behold.

I got banned for two months a few days ago and every comment I made in the thread that caused that was deleted. I dared to mention that the climate scientists have been flip-flopping between predicting an Ice Age and Warming since Adam was a school kid.

Is that why all the Labour lap dog’s post comments on Dave’s blog, hard to get banned may be some demerits if posting is not up to a standard. Very hard to get banned though.

Labour funded blogStandard is “here here”. Oh, any comment singing the praise of Helen Clark or Michael Muppet-Cullen is also welcome.March 7th, 2009 at 10:31 pm
Goff was gone before he even took over as labour leader.
The guy has as much charisma as an ant.
He just doesn’t fit the role as a leader.

Labour don’t fit the role as a party at the moment. It’s a collection of self serving has been or never will be MP’s.
March 8th, 2009 at 1:09 am
… if John Key were a Labour Prime Minister the media would be falling over themselves by now.
You’d be reading things like “National’s disastrous third term in office”, and “best first one hundred days for any new Prime Minister”.
But no..
March 8th, 2009 at 4:39 am
The funny thing about the standard is that if one was to post a link to this poll there, you’d be immediately called a link-whore and banned. Nevermind the fact that you have no afflilation to the poll, and are simply placing the link in the interest of informative debate. I guess they aren’t used to having to prove what they are saying…

I expect jonkey to stay high in the polls for at least 15 – 18 more months.
However, at the pace things are not going the Messiah’ ratings will plunge in a few months.
Although the majority of the population cannot grasp the economics/politics at play, there is a growing sector of NZ society opposing jonkey’s “what’s on the news today” policies, the very same policies that will lead to corruption of the NZ economy and community.
Consequently, his charm will vanish and the magic spell will come to an end. He’ll be seen for what he is: a Trojan horse of know nothings and do nothings.
March 8th, 2009 at 9:07 am
borker, what do yo mean “the very same policies that will lead to corruption of the NZ economy and community.”
like cleaning out useless, lying, incompetent labour lickspittles from public bodies a la justice and ACC?
Labour are royally screwed.
March 8th, 2009 at 9:56 am
The next poll should be interesting. What with the “jobs for the boys” gaff.
March 8th, 2009 at 11:41 am
One was in charge of a country for eight years, one has been an opposition leader for a couple of months.

I don’t think we have time to list the things you’re unaware of radar.
You not knowing something doesn’t make it go away though.
