The Day the Music Died

Friday was the 47ths anniversary of The Day the Music Died.

American Pie is one of my all-time favourite songs (yes only the Dom McLean version not the awful Madonna version) and it used to play almost non-stop on the Otago University Union jukebox.

I never actually knew what the song referred to until a law firm a few years ago took a group of us to the stage production of the Buddy Holly story. Was a great production and has made the sing that much more meaningful.

It is also a very long song. Just over eight minutes long, so a good Karaoke number!
